Webmasters / Google Is Restricting Me From Using Google Chat by pauljustina(f): 11:17am On Dec 03, 2023
Does anyone have experience using Google Chat from Nigeria?

I created a Google Chat account and I used it for a few days before Google restricted it. Of course, I appealed the restriction, but I received an email stating that I violated their terms of service. I have gone through their terms of service and I haven't done any of the things discussed there.

I only use the account to chat with my boss. I am not doing anything illegal. Do you think there's a reason I am being restricted on Google Chat? How I can prevent it from happening?

Note: I am not using a new email. My Google account is over 5 years old and I have never been restricted from using a service until now.

Family / My Dilemma As A New Wife by pauljustina(f): 2:23pm On Jan 14, 2021
Getting hitched before 25 had always been my fairy tale dream right from when I was young and addicted to Disney princesses and their Prince charming plots. It came earlier than I thought and I got married to the love of my life when I was 21 and he was 24. My name is Ajoke, I and Nifemi started dating few months after I clocked 17.

I got to meet him through a church friend during my second year in the university. We started getting really close and finally decided to give the dating scene a try after a year. We were both young and naïve but we loved each other deeply and dated for almost 4 years before walking down the aisle.

When I told people I was getting married to him, their first reaction was always “Why are you getting married now, don’t you think you are too young?”, “Are you pregnant? Is that why you are rushing?” These and many more are the questions that graced people’s lips. Even my friends thought it was a prank until we started sending out IVs and preparation got serious and our parents were supportive throughout.

The D-day came, we had the registry and traditional ceremony in one day and everyone commented on how the glamorous the wedding was. We moved in together and it was all smooth for some months until reality set in.

As a young couple and fresh graduates, none of us had a stable job at the time. We lived on freelancing and contracts. I had a small and growing ready to wear clothesline while he was into freelancing and we both worked from home. Nifemi happens to be tech savvy, always engrossed in his laptop or tablet. Although I knew this while we were dating but I thought he would slow down on it when I entered his life fully. If he is not writing codes, he’s playing games or reading comics.

As a fashion entrepreneur, I basically run my business on the internet and only leaves the house when I need to see my designer or run household errands so I had a lot of free time. I thought it would be the same with my husband since he works from home too but little did I know that I was wrong.

Nifemi got a contract offer from a renowned tech company and he had the option of working remotely or joining them at the office. We both decided that he should appear physically at the office so he won’t be distracted in the home.

He resumed work and things were running smoothly, we had a stable income coming from him and I started planning towards having a baby. After some weeks, he was designated to develop an app that would generate millions of naira for the company, if it works he gets a permanent offer. Behold, this triggered a chain of events leading to this cry for help.

At first, he started bringing work home and would not sleep until about 4am, I complained about it and he said it was because of the project. We reached an agreement that he would join me in bed by 2am. This went on for a while until he arrived home from work around 11pm for three consecutive days. I did not say anything for a while, thought it was traffic but it kept pricking my mind until I confronted him. He got angry, we exchanged words but he later apologized and put the blame on the stress from work and the fact that the app he was working on is not showing a greenlight. I also apologized for nagging and decided not to complain anymore.

However, I am dying inside, my husband no longer notice me nor spend his weekends at home, always at work and even if he’s around he sleeps really late. We don’t do things together as a couple anymore, even to pray together early in the morning is difficult as he would have left the house before I wake up. I need his attention and crave for his touch but I don’t know what to do again without coming off as a nagging wife. Please help me!

Travel / America And Canada Not As Advertised by pauljustina(f): 4:33pm On Jan 13, 2021
I remember when i was so little i aspire and long to be in the U.S, Canada or U.K. The aspiration was borne out of what i hear, see, and observed from friends, neighbors and TV.
In those days, i would hear story of someone who grew up in Nigeria, travel abroad and is an engineer who lives abroad. I will hear my dad will say "omo lagbaja nie" or "Jide ni yen, omo Brother Odumosu ilu oyinbo lon gbe ni America" meaning: Thats the son of that man, or thats Jide the son of Brother Odumosu who lives abroad in America.

Considering we are of low class economically, those dreams were clear but actualizing it has no path in the dream. Whenever my dad talks about someone he knows, i would try to get close to that person so i could get foreign
phone numbers, so i could tell my friends of low economy class that my uncle or aunt lives abroad and here is his or her number.

Associating with people that comes from
America, Canada and U.K its like the best thing that could ever happen to me those days. Until i finish secondary school and the need to make my dreams come through.. Long story cut short, i found myself in America.

My first day in America was a terrible
experience that i could compare to a girl
brought down to Lagos to work as house-help for a rich man but whose accommodation is restricted to sleep in a big wide living room.

"Wow this is a big house, big parlor, TV, AC, dishes not aluminum bows are used in the kitchen, tiled floor not untiled floor"

Yes she feels exposed cos the house is so cold and no blanket, her cloths used as headrest and i bet you, the first night she will wake before anybody and ask so much questions with herself.. two major thoughts will bugging her, should i run
back to my village or should i stay.. That's the first day experience in America or any part of the world on the first day, depending on how you got there.

NOT AS ADVERTISED
If you are a director, Dr, Lawyer graduated from Nigeria university, be ready to do laborer's job. You will first start from the ground, like factory work, call center work, group home work, personal care assistance(helping disable
people), work in store for that minimum pay. Your way out of these is to forget what you studied or became in Nigeria and start all over again. Go back for 6month program, 2 years
college or 4 years or take prep exams for
professional like Dr and lawyer will have to go to another 3 years of law schools.

At the end, you can never become the top inyour professional, especially when you have to deal with all kinds of discrimination, racism and accent differentials. Once you start you start
seeing that everything screwed against you... But the naija spirit in you will not want to take
last.. When face with rejection, experience setback, you think about home, friends who are hailing you that your life is better and you are probably
in money, what will be of you if you dont push on. These thoughts are motivation to push on and many of us did.

Then you start thinking about paper, school, work, money and people at home.. your worries become endless all in the name of running away from Nigeria and finding greener pasture or American dream.

At the end.. you will quickly find out that,
America is not as advertised...
The people that suffer most are those that sold their property to get to America, in the believe they will one day build back that house they sold, buy another car and some even take millions in life savings and end up forever broke.

Perpetual failure: Never to recover
If God wants to punish you, you will get to
America with no paper and go marry akata or have one k-leg with your paper.. That's the beginning of un-ending circular, redundant spirals fall for life. If DHS send you that letter that says your marriage is sham, forget you ever
came to America, just pack your load, run to another country or come back home.. cos you will never win the case with DHS.

If you commit any felonious crime you are gone or even misdemeanor that takes you to jail for 6 months no way for you to get paper. The America don't forget or forgive, just like the internet. Whatever you do from the day you enter their soil is recorded.

You hit woman, deliberately kill any live animals (dog, cat, birds etc)except insects you could end up in jail.
Don't be deceived everyone is indebted
Everyone here are indebted one way or the other.. Credit card debt, house rent or mortgage, car note.. the system is design to reduced lazy people, keep the people indebted so they have no option but go to work.

When you are sick you can't afford not to be at work, when you have emergency you have to show up to work because that source of income could be blocked by your boss when he or she fires you.

If you are pregnant, you have to come to work until maybe a week before delivery and you have to submit doctors note and after delivery you might not have 30days before you return..

Deception: fake it until you make it

Many of the people you see on Facebook,
Instagram and other social medial acting like they live large, you are likely richer than them if you are in Nigeria with no debt, and have your own house with N1millon naira in your account.

The car they drive its borrowed if they lose two payment the car dealers will come for their car; if they don't pay their mortgage they loose their house. So the life is elusive.

To be continued.....
