bio777: Guy,pls, understand these facts-(1) Nobody on this thread has ever said 'they will not pay us'. (2) We are venting our emotions not because we are hungry but because we are angry.Angry about the kind of secrecy our salary is shrouded in.Angry about the uncertainty as regards WHEN & HOW MUCH we are going to be paid...My bros, I did my job without complaints so the least I expect is to receive my pay without complaint. They've subjected us to too much stress and distress. They should pay up so we can relax and drink some juice. That way,we would all be well refreshed and rejuvenated on resumption.
I do understand d pain sir, i do sire. However dat hunger dat has hope is a gud hunger. My friends unemployed wld tell me owe me but giv me job. We do complain we dont hve shoes, dias some dat dont even have legs. I am angry as u are but of wat will i gain from it?? Can my anger make dem pay me or can my rage make a difference.. We existed before dis job, pay delayed is not pay denied.. It will all come n go.. i hve decided to look at d light n not da shadows.. In reality dias no light dat doesnt cast its shadows.. dis job is da light.. Dis delay is da shadows.. But it shall come like d rain in a desert.. Dat under a day, our drought will be remembered no more.......

teejaymmm: PDP Issues 7 (Seven) Days Ultimatum to Amaechi to Pay Teachers’ Salaries

The Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, observes with utmost dismay, and condemns in strong terms the non-payment of salaries of the newly recruited teachers in Rivers State for four months today and also regretted the inconveniences they have faced for that long without salaries, which clearly is as a result of mismanagement, poor financial planning and politicization of all sectors of Rivers economy by Governor Rotimi Amaechi.

The Party therefore wishes to state that the explanation offered by the Rivers State Ministry of Education that the State government lacks funds to pay the teachers has vindicated the Party’s position that the Rivers State government is broke.

The Party in a statement signed by Jerry Needam, Special Adviser on Media to the State PDP Chairman, Bro. Felix Obuah, says the Governor’s action has further confirmed that gathering the newly recruited teachers at the liberation stadium under the guise of issuing them employment letters, and later planned to use them to protest against the President of Nigeria President Goodluck Jonathan has vindicated the position of the Rivers State Commissioner of Police.

“In the light of the above, the PDP warns Governor Rotimi to stop playing politics with the lives and future of these innocent newly recruited teachers and also admonishes him (Amaechi) to settle down in Rivers State to face the mirage of problems he has created with a sincere determination to solving them, rather than chasing shadow in the name of All Progressives Congress, APC”.

The Governor’s insensitivity to the plights of the recently engaged civil servants in the State has caused so much embarrassment to Rivers People within and outside the country. It is in this respect that the PDP as a responsible Party regrets and apologises for the choice of Amaechi as Governor of the State.

In the same vein, the Party also condemns the N24, 000 basic monthly salary earmarked for each of the newly recruited teachers, stressing that such amount falls short of what is paid graduates all over, as basic salary.

The party asks Governor Amaechi to without further delay regularize this anomaly and pay all these graduate teachers, what is obtainable in civil service.

The Party therefore, issues a 7(seven) day ultimatum to the Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi to pay all salaries and allowances owed all newly recruited teachers in the State.

Signed

mathmatica: Am of the opinion that, salary would be paid.If and when,I can not categorically say, because ,I don't want to say one thing and my oga at the top say another. So,am appealing to all those concerned, not to worry about salary, until the president has officially decamped to APC and Ameachi becomes the first Blackman to discover chloroquine.Am advicing all the newly employed teachers to borrow as much as they can from their older colleagues, with a promise of sharing their pension and gratuity with them.

uboma: @ Paul Thor and Cruize306, please watch your comments. Any more abusive words from any of you will result to a ban. Be guided by the rules of posting and stop derailing this thread. Thank you
Indeed, i expected such.. I am sorry for my actions. i was dared to it. I believe we are all mature n civil. However, we still have our other parts. In a world were we all need to help, comfort and encourage others, there indeed will not be room for hate. This thread has helped us tremendously, witout doubt. However i cannot stand the action of one hu glories himself on other people's mistake, hu discriminates and use, be it tribalism or indegeneship to threaten the supposed weak. This is what we must stand against. Have we not suffered much as nigerians?? Hve we not gloried sentiment dan pure knowledge long enough?? We are teachers, to teach those qualities, that diversity dat unites, and strengthens us not vice versa. And anybody hu chooses to teach n preach differently, is not just my enemy, but an enemy of us all hu believe in a better, a greater and a more united nigeria. Those hu hve d powers dat be to ban, again i apologize. I also plead dat comments dat are provacating, detesting be quickly identified and arrested early, to avoid this kind of degeneration. To all i hve offended, again i say... I am sorry.

Cruize306: Hahahahahaha... RIVCAS recently did employment and they considered just indigenous Rivers people. 84 Mathematicians + around 47 Further Maths indigenous teachers applied. Rivers State have enough certified mathematicians and engineers + Corps members to fill your space (in case you start feeling important). You have not been given a confirmation letter for your job (in case you've forgotten)

The Felix Obuah-led Peoples Democratic
Party, PDP, in Rivers State says it can no
longer keep quiet over the cries and
lamentations of hundreds of thousand
civil servants in the state whose salaries
have been allegedly slashed by the state government every month. The party in a statement issued and
signed by Jerry Needam, Special Adviser
on Media to the State Party Chairman
said it had observed that civil servants in
the state were going through “untold
hardship inflicted on these helpless government workers, using the baseless
state social services law as a cover”. PDP accused Rivers State Governor,
Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi of using the
arbitrary salary deductions as a ploy to
pull enough resources for his highly
speculated 2015 Vice Presidential
ambition. The party also described as unfair
Amaechi’s insensitivity and unconcerned
attitude to the cries of the workers. The PDP while
describing the policy as
irrational also referred to the deduction
as not properly articulate. “The irrational application of the policy
without recourse to rank and amount
earned by the workers, as in most cases,
junior workers on grade level one to
seven are tasked more as evidenced in
the September deductions that have set some of the workers against the paying
banks. “The party wonders why the deduction if
properly and purposefully articulated will
continue to fluctuate month after month,
and petitions by the aggrieved persons
for explanations on the conflicting
deductions not given by neither the finance ministry nor the paying bank. “How can a government that continues to
pride itself as having enough resources
and is not broke not be kind or
sympathetic enough to pay its staff what
is due them but rather revels in seeing
them cry and complain at the end of each month? Is this what democracy or being
well to do is all about”, the party queried. In the mean time, the party called on the
relevant authorities in Rivers State and
Gov Amaechi to stop the salary
deductions from government workers
and adviced that “the state initiate the
process of refunding those who have already been shortchanged by the
unpopular, irresponsible and inhuman
policy”
