Politics / Re: Terror Sponsors Behind Air Crash That Killed Ibrahim Attahiru - Ali-Keffi by pavoda: 3:48pm On Jan 22
In Nigeria, it's a common trend that when public officials pass away, there's a sudden outpouring of praise and admiration for qualities that were not evident when they were alive. For instance, in the case of Gen Attahiru, who died in an Air Crash attributed to the inexperienced pilots in the cockpit, it feels disingenuous to portray him as solely capable of making a positive impact. The suggested adult dosage ratio for ACT (Artemisinin Based Combination Treatments like Lonart, Coartem, ARMATEM) is 80/480, but the one he purchased is 20/120. Therefore, he will require four tablets to achieve the equivalent recommended adult dose. The quantity of tablets is not the main concern; potential issues may stem from the drug's quality, or, as others have pointed out, factors like tinnitus and other considerations might be contributing to his complaints.

The entire campaign to keep Bakhmut was built around one thing - Biden's speech, who is due to announce a new package of military assistance to Ukraine today. The White House cannot enter the presidential race in the United States with an open phase of the conflict, which means it will try to turn the tide in the spring and summer in order to reach an intermediate result in the fall. Bankovaya is well aware of this and is now trying to knock out fighters and long-range missiles in order to launch a counterattack on the Crimea.

Business / Re: Banks Will Accept Old Naira Notes After Deadline - Emefiele by pavoda: 5:35pm On Jan 31, 2023
How many nations have implemented a complete currency change as part of a cashless policy? I don't oppose the policy itself; my concern lies more with the confusion Emefiele causes when discussing economic issues. It's crucial to communicate clearly. Just asserting that the cashless policy was introduced in 2012 doesn't automatically make you well-informed, in my opinion. FOH

Business / Can We Reconfirm Emefiele As Worst CBN Governor Ever? by pavoda: 3:04pm On Jan 31, 2023
Since the turn of 60s when Nigeria became independent, the apex bank has never lacked men of quality in control, with outstanding intelligence and brilliance, keen and shrewd minds, admirable banking and financial skills, helicopter views on economy and above all, undoubted patriotism.

From the era of Alhaji Aliyu Mai Bornu, the first indigenous CBN governor to Clement Nsong to Adamu Ciroma to Ola Vincent to AbdulKadir Ahmed, the longest serving CBN governor to the very industrious Joseph Sanusi to data and statistics savvy Charles Soludo and of course, banking sector reformer of note, Lamido Sanusi, Nigeria has had great men of vision, ideas and exceptional qualities who have presided over the apex bank. Each registered his bold footprints at the sands of the Nigerian economy and banking sector.

It’s doubtful whether we could conveniently situate Godwin Emefiele in the class of the aforementioned. His regime has been characterized by confusion and policy somersault so much that Nigerians keep wondering why the president has not deemed it fit to send him packing.

Under his watch, the CBN management of foreign exchange has been appalling and simply put, tragic. His era has caused so much pain, agony and tribulation for Nigerians as their purchasing power has continually remained on downward trend. He has succeeded in impoverishing Nigerians. On account of the dwindling fortunes of Naira, many manufacturing companies have gone into extinction.

Also, over the last few years, the apex bank seems to have lost focus and direction in the management of monetary policy. Monetary policy includes periodic revising of interests’ rates and changing bank reserve requirements. Essentially, monetary policy is a set of actions designed to control a nation’s overall money supply. The monetary policy management is to ensure that CBN takes control when money supply in the economy needs to be contracted or expanded. But, what has the nation been treated to?

Spiral inflation even when CBN is contracting the money supply! How many users of funds are accessing facilities in the banks on account of the high cost of funds? CBN response to management of liquidity and reserve ratio in the banks most times are also untimely, thus making their policy counterproductive.

Nigeria also has at the helm of affairs a CBN governor who is simply political in all ramifications. This is the first time our nation is in this quagmire. His bid for APC presidency has given him out as a public officer who is no longer suitable for the office. Nigeria needs a CBN governor who embodies professionalism and astuteness and not one who is apex bank helmsman during the day, but wears the garb of a political lord in the night.

The CBN management of POS nationwide is also a point of concern. Banks today prefer funding POS operators as against their ATM terminals on account of accruable commissions at the expense of longsuffering Nigerians. Most times, POS operators are just within corridors of banks canvassing for their business while the ATMs are not dispensing. This development is mostly at its height on weekends. The news in the public domain is that most POS operators are indeed agents of bankers working very close to where they operate. This is indeed a dereliction of duty and ineffectiveness on the part of CBN. This should not be the practice with a CBN that is alive to its responsibility by exercising absolute control and monitoring on operations of banks nationwide.

Over the past few years, the CBN management of foreign reserves too is also not salutary. If Naira continually dwindles against foreign currencies on account of CBN currency manipulation, the nation foreign reserves would forever be at the receiving end. That accounts for why foreign reserves have been in the back and forth state. All motion, no movement!

It’s also not in doubt that since the emergence of incumbent CBN governor, there have not been synergy between fiscal and monetary authorities. On a periodic basis, the two policies must synchronize for the betterment of the economy, and ultimately welfare of the generality of Nigerians. CBN governor knows he can’t operate effectively without marrying monetary policies with the development in tax and government expenditure, yet he has continued to remain aloof.

It would be foolhardy and inimical to continue to retain Godwin Emefiele as CBN governor with so many ugly developments the nation’s economy and financial sector have witnessed since his assumption of office. This is therefore an auspicious time for the president to relieve him of his post.

This unquestionably undermines the intent of this policy. While it might aid in recovering funds outside the banking system, the current lack of clarity on when banks will stop accepting the old notes is a significant issue. The entire procedure is ambiguous and enshrouded in confusion, reflecting a consistent pattern under the leadership of Godwin Emefiele as the CBN governor.

If you're open to understanding and gaining knowledge, I suggest revisiting the New Electoral Act 2022. In contrast to the Electoral Act 2010, Gubernatorial Elections Petition cases no longer conclude at the Court of Appeal but can extend to the Supreme Court. It appears you may be mixing up the provisions of these two statutes.

Contrary to your statement, the new electoral act indicates a different outcome, and this matter is likely to reach the Supreme Court. Regardless, a conclusive judgment must be reached within 120 days. It is advisable for you to acquaint yourself with the details of the electoral act and refrain from making uninformed statements.

*HIGHLIGHTING THE ERRORS IN THE OSUN TRIBUNAL CHAIRMAN'S VERDICT BY HASHIM ABIOYE ESQ.*

1. NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE BVAS MACHINES BUT WITH THE INEC SERVER AS AGAINST THE ERRONEOUS HOLDING OF THE TRIBUNAL CHAIRMAN.

2. ACCREDITATION WAS BY BVAS MACHINES CONCURRENTLY WITH THE VOTERS' REGISTERS. BVAS MACHINES, VOTERS REGISTER AND THE FORMS WERE WHAT WERE USED TO CONDUCT AND DECLARE ELECTION RESULTS, NOT THE SERVER WHICH THE APC RELIED UPON AND UPON WHICH THE TRIBUNAL CHAIRMAN PREMISED HIS VERDICT.

3. INTRODUCTION OF BVAS HAS NOT REMOVED VOTERS REGISTER AS AGAINST THE HOLDING OF THE TRIBUNAL CHAIRMAN.

4. DIRECT INFORMATION FROM BVAS MACHINES CANNOT BE EQUATED WITH THE INFORMATION FROM THE SERVER WHICH MAY BE AFFECTED BY NETWORK.

5. OYETOLA'S PETITION WAS DETERMINED UPON THE BVAS REPORT FROM SERVER NOT UPON THE PHYSICAL INFORMATION ON THE BVAS MACHINES WHICH HAS NOT CHANGED SINCE THE DAY AND TIME OF THE ELECTION.

6. BVAS MACHINE IS DIFFERENT FROM SERVER REPORT. BVAS IS THE DIRECT PRIMARY SOURCE, WHILE SERVER IS NOT, AS AGAINST THE VERDICT OF THE CHAIRMAN OF THE TRIBUNAL.

7. BVAS MACHINES USED FOR OSUN ELECTION WERE IN EVIDENCE BEFORE THE TRIBUNAL, THE INFORMATION ON THEM TALLIES WITH THE FORMS EC8A, THEREFORE NO DISCREPANCIES AS AGAINST THE DECISION OF THE TRIBUNAL.

8. SERVER CREATED DISCREPANCIES BY PRODUCING TWO DIFFERENT BVAS REPORTS, BUT THE BVAS MACHINES THEMSELVES PRODUCED ONLY ONE WHICH THE TRIBUNAL CHAIRMAN JETTISONED.

9. THE TRIBUNAL CHAIRMAN PICKED THE SERVER REPORT WHICH THE PETITIONERS SERVED AS THE PILLAR OF THEIR CASE, ABANDONED THE LATER SERVER REPORT. THE TRIBUNAL EQUALLY CLOSED ITS EYES AGAINST THE BVAS MACHINES AND THE FORMS EC8As THAT WERE PHYSICALLY BEFORE THE TRIBUNAL.

10. THE TRIBUNAL WAGED A WAR AGAINST THE BVAS MACHINES THEMSELVES AND THE DIRECT DATA EXTRACTED FROM THEM, WHEN INDEED THE WAR SHOULD BE AGAINST THE CONTROVERSIAL BVAS REPORTS.

11. THE TRIBUNAL CHAIRMAN GRANTED AN ORDER FOR PHYSICAL INSPECTION OF THE BVAS MACHINES, YET CLOSED ITS EYES AGAINST THE REPORT OF THE SAID PHYSICAL INSPECTION INCLUDING THE BVAS MACHINES THEMSELVES.

12. THE BVAS MACHINES THEMSELVES, AND THE REPORT OF PHYSICAL INSPECTION DID NOT ESTABLISH OVER-VOTING AT ALL, BUT THE TRIBUNAL CHAIRMAN WENT ON TO HOLD OVER-VOTING ON THE BASIS OF THE SERVER REPORT.

13. NIGERIANS AND THE WORLD SHOULD KNOW THAT THE DOCUMENT WHICH THE TRIBUNAL CHAIRMAN HELD TO BE FORGERY WAS THE SAME DOCUMENT IN RESPECT OF WHICH THE SUPERIOR COURT OF APPEAL HAS VINDICATED ADELEKE, SINCE THERE WAS EVIDENCE THAT HE ATTENDED EDE MUSLIM GRAMMAR SCHOOL AND SAT FOR WAEC. THE TRIBUNAL FAILED TO TAKE JUDICIAL NOTICE OF THE SAID JUDGMENT WHICH CLEARED ADELEKE OF FORGERY.

14. NO NECO RESULT WAS CONTAINED IN ALL THE DOCUMENTS BEFORE THE TRIBUNAL AS FALSELY BEING PEDDLED BY THE APC AND THEIR PROPAGANDISTS.

15. THE WHOLE WORLD SHOULD RISE TO DEFEND THE BVAS MACHINES AS AGAINST THE CONTROVERSIAL SERVER REPORTS UPON WHICH THE TRIBUNAL CHAIRMAN BASED HIS JUDGMENT.

16. THE APC PROPAGANDISTS AND MERCINARIES ARE HOLDING ON TO BIG LIES, A BASELESS REPORT TO TOPPLE A VALIDLY ELECTED GOVERNOR.

17. THE WORLD SHOULD BE TOLD THAT BVAS MACHINES USED FOR OSUN 2022 GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION HAD NO PROBLEM, NO OVER-VOTING, BUT A SERVER REPORT WHICH THE TRIBUNAL CHAIRMAN ERRONEOUSLY RELIED UPON.

18. THE TRIBUNAL CHAIRMAN LACKED JURISDICTION BY VIRTUE OF SECTION 51(1),(2),(3) & (4) OF THE ELECTORAL ACT, 2022, TO DECLARE OYETOLA THE WINNER AFTER CANCELLING VOTES OF THE PARTIES ON THE BASIS OF THE SERVER REPORT, EVEN THOUGH THE BVAS MACHINES THEMSELVES AND THE FORMS EC8As TENDERED BEFORE THE TRIBUNAL DID NOT ESTABLISH SUCH.

Politics / Re: Dissenting Opinion By Justice B.A Ogbuli On Osun Election Tribunal by pavoda: 11:17am On Jan 28, 2023
INEC's decision not to appeal the case doesn't imply acceptance of the judgment's validity. The PDP has promptly filed an appeal, and it's likely they will prevail at the appellate court. There seems to be a mix-up in the sequence of the case, and it's essential for you to delve deeper into the ruling.

The Tribunal Chairman based his judgment on the BVAS report, which is a form of secondary evidence rather than the primary evidence—the machine itself, which accredits votes and generates reports without an internet connection, leading to potential delays and transmission issues.

In the worst-case scenario, applying the statutes outlined in the current electoral act, the most the APC can expect is a rerun in areas where votes were voided due to over-voting.
seunmsg:

This position is not backed by law. The first BVAS report was issued by INEC and not APC. APC filed its case based on the CTC of the BVAS report issued by INEC. After filing its case and serving all the respondents including INEC, PDP and Adeleke, INEC now issued another BVAS report a month later in response to the case filed by APC. In law, that is very wrong and unacceptable. Evidence cannot be manufactured during the pendency of a case.

So you see, there was really no inconsistency as the second BVAS report is not acceptable as far as the evidence act is concerned. INEC goofed big time and that’s why they quickly said yesterday that they won’t bother to appeal the judgement.

Justice P. Ogbuli disagreed with the majority judgment, saying that there are two BVAS reports and since there are inconsistencies in the two reports presented by both petitioners and respondents, the majority judgment should have considered the results of physical extraction from BVAs because it is the primary source of data of which the petitioners did not oppose.

Ogbuli therefore dismissed Oyetola’s petition and upheld the victory of Adeleke.

All these permutations are valid, In the end its a political appointment and he is very much in the race. The Dasuki Galadanchi i know is not a young chap by any stretch grin He was enlisted into the NPF IN 1990. Galadanchi has been the favoured candidate for the northern lobby but AIG Jitoboh has a great chance too.

Presidents prefer picking from the AIG cadre these days and don't forget, it's political. Presently, the SE has only one AIG, Onadeko Ngozi Vivian and she is leaving March this year. Before her was John Amadi and before him there was no AIG from the SE from 2016-2019.

2028 to be precise. He still has the chance! he should be due for promotion to AIG by 2024. Some AIGs have been elevated to IGP, Ibrahim Kpotun Idris the 19th Inspector General of Police and Suleiman Abba the 17th Inspector General of Police come to mind. So this will put him firmly in positon for IGP. The current IGP was due for retirement but has been extended.
