Alhaji Ibrahim Biu1922-2002 (Wazirin Biu), Unsung Hero I was going through a book makers of Northern Nigeria and particularly picked interest on a certain gentleman by name Alhaji Ibrahim Biu from Biu Borno State, I went further to probe and research on him online and publications in arewa house Kaduna, I read through his speeches and his defence of Sardauna’s policies of the Nothern Nigeria region, i then stumble across a book written by Dr Haruna Yerima titled Humility And Service, after reading the book I became more interested about this man whom I see as a hero, mentor worthy of mention and emulation, I continued asking questions about this man and later realised despite his service, honesty and humility, he was never celebrated by his country, state or even his native biu people and I asked myself what is wrong despite all the feat this man has achieved, are we truly sincere in celebrating honesty, dedication, humility and service to the country, the man died a hero but was never immortalised, this was a man that supervised and ensured the building of schools, dispensaries, markets, roads and other public structures in the whole of the Biu division which covers the present day Biu,kwaya- kusar,Shani,Bayo,Hawul,Askira/Uba and Garkida in Adamawa state. In recognition of his hard work, the emir of Biu then sent his name to the Kaduna regional government for approval as a member of the Biu Emirate council in 1955. He was appointed a parliamentary secretary (Junior cabinet Minister) to the ministry of works in September 1957, that made him to be visiting the entire North- monitoring and commissioning projects. He was appointed the first indigenous Minister of information for the Northern region on the 1st of October 1960. He publicised and defended the governments policies so well that this endeared him to the Premier. Wherever the Sardauna went, he made sure he went with him.During his tenure, he sponsored and defended the bill to establish the broadcasting corporation of Northern Nigeria. (BCCN). He was then transferred in 1964 as the Minister of Water Resources and Community development, until the military coup in 1966.This was the same man that was appointed as the first commissioner of education north eastern states comprising of present day Borno,Yobe,Bauchi,Gombe, Adamawa and Taraba state from 1967 to 1975. Institutions like the North east college of Arts and science (NECAS),which formed the nucleus of the present University of Maiduguri was established in 1970, other institutions like the Maiduguri Technical college (Ramat Polytechnic) and so many schools in the present North East geo-political zone were established during his tenure which has produced many prominent personalities in the North east geo political zone, all this feat did not earn him even a honory docrate degree from the University of Maiduguri, not a single immortalization in Biu his native town in Borno State, I further learnt even the title of Waziri of biu which he inherited from his grand father was taken away from his family after is death, to my greatest shock recently mega schools were named after prominent personalities in borno state not a single school was named after Alhaji Ibrahim Biu, There exist only a street in the Gwange a suburb in Maiduguri with the name Alhaji Ibrahim biu street named by Alhaji Mohammed Goni the first executive Governor of Borno State,he also has a street named after him in Kaduna Unguwan Sarki G.R.A and a drive in gate 1 of the University of Maiduguri. Alhaji Ibrahim Biu should be a reference point to our leaders, politicians and administrators. He lived a simple life and I learnt has never lobbied for any position. At death he had only two houses, the one he inherited in Biu and the one the state government sold to him in Maiduguri, with only one car he bought in 1973. He died in 2002.He was a very close associate of Sir Kashim Ibrahim. He would have embezzeled public funds and become the type of creame de creame of the society we celebrated this days but he chooses to serve his people and Nigeria to ensure people are where they are today by the grace of God. The question is why was Alhaji Ibrahim Biu never recognized despite his feat, what lesson is our society trying to teach the younger generation? that humility and honesty is not worth it? I call on the our leaders to correct the wrongs of the past, it is never late to celebrate Alhaji Ibrahim Biu a one time Supervisor of works in Biu Division,One time Member of the biu emirate council, one time senior councillor, one time member Nothern Nigeria House of Assembly member, one time parliamentary secretary (Junior Minister) to the ministry of works, first indigenous minister of information Northern Nigeria, Minister of water resources and community development, first Commissioner of Education North eastern states, one time Federal Electoral Commissioner of the FEDECO, chairman of the Borno state Civil service Commission, chairman of the public complains commission-Borno state, permanent commissioner of the code of conduct bureau and Chairman Asset Declaration. Yet the people and government of Borno State are silent on him. I would have expected every ministry of education in north east to have his name as No 1 commissioner in their nominal before any other name. February is always called the month of love and marks the 14th as Saint Valentine’s Day.Tomorrow is Saint Valentine’s day and most apt for me to write on love. Over the years, the word love has been loosely used and has become a tool of deception rather than what God had originated it to be. True Love comes from God and He teaches us by His Spirit how to love and accept each other. Today I touch on one of the things that has bothered me a lot in our evolving society – Money and Love or let me put it straight as people say – that Money can buy TRUE love. I say true because Money can certainly buy you deception, lies and falsehood. Our text is Songs of Solomon 8:7 “Love is invincible facing death and danger. Passion laughs at the terrors of hell. The fire of love stops at nothing- it sweeps everything before it. Flood waters can’t drown love, torrents of rain can’t put it out. Love can’t be bought, love can’t be sold- it’s not to be in the marketplace.” (Message Translation) There you have it- King Solomon, the lover of all time has said it all! MONEY CAN”T BUY LOVE. Love is an action. The only example of how to love won’t be found in books, videos or preaching. It is found in our Heavenly Father –God the Lover. Loving God’s way is about giving your best and expecting nothing in return. John 3:16a says “this is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, His one and Only Son.” He gave us Jesus Christ when we were yet sinners, it was a big risk, not knowing if we will accept Jesus, yet hoping that we do, so we come into a love covenant relationship with Him. It is about hoping for the best in, and for someone. The idea that if you splash on your Wife, Husband, Children, Boyfriend, Girlfriend etc, can induce them to love you is a lie from the pits of hell. When you operate in love God’s way, giving of yourself and your resources become a way of life and become more meaningful to both you and the receiver- remember the Word of God says it is more blessed to give than to receive. We must submit ourselves to the Holy Spirit daily so He works in us to love God’s way. That’s the only way to love and be joyful in spite of the receiver(s) attitude. Paul gives us a definition of love God’s way in I Corinthians 13 (Please read the Message translation)- my best bit of this charge by Apostle Paul is found in verses 3 “If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love , I have gotten nowhere. SO, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.” Money can’t buy love, rather with all the money you may have, you are bankrupt (broke) without love. DO IT GOD’s WAY! http://www.wellspringoflifeinternational.com/money-cant-buy-love/

Greetings in God’s Mighty name! As we continue to study the expression of God’s power through His Mighty Arm in the three R’s – Release, Restore and Rest, I hope to create a paradigm shift with our focus this week on RELEASE. Typical stories of release from captivity always speaks about a ‘deliverer’ – God always uses a person to liberate His people from captivity- Moses, Esther, Nehemiah and our greatest continuous example – Jesus! These stories often used, point to a chosen one and specifically a member of the race/people to be delivered out of captivity. However today, I want to drive home a point that our Lord God will use whoever He desires to bring about our release in this new season. Our text is taken from Jeremiah 52:31 Now it came to pass in the thirty-seventh year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-fifth day of the month, that Evil-Merodach[a] king of Babylon, in the first year of his reign, lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah and brought him out of prison (NKJV) Okay- Evil-Merodach – the word of God is putting a prefix before a King’s name like you would put a Mr, Miss or Mrs. The king is being aptly defined so you make no mistake interpreting otherwise. Jehoiachin and others were held for 37 years! 37!!! An Evil King comes into government and within a year releases him and gives him a place of honor and a pension for life! (read from verses 31 -34). Release for the captive King of Judah came from an unexpected person- God used an Evil King. You need to stop praying for your enemies to fall and die… you could just kill off the very person God wants to use to release you into a place of Restoration! Yes, funny isn’t it? But King David understood this when in Psalm 23:5a, he says to God “you prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies”. God will use anyone and anything to bring about a release. Don’t be focused on the situation, be focused on God. Looking unto Jesus who for the Joy set before Him endured the cross(paraphrased). Are you in a rut? Underpaid, overworked? Nasty boss, promotion denied? Can’t seem to find a job? Tough business conditions, overwhelming conditions, so many bills to pay? Recurring mistakes that threaten your relationship with God? Don’t lose faith, be hopeful, there is a joy set before you, look to Jesus, He is near. He is bringing about your Release! He will use whoever He desires to bring you out. Don’t start looking for people who could be responsible for your problems, let God deal with those! Look to JESUS! Be steadfast in your walk with God, believe His word, remain hopeful! Your Release has come! God is breaking asunder every prison gates of wickedness, delay, sickness, hardship and oppression holding your life. Prayer- Thanksgiving I am thankful Father for your Mighty Arm that saves. I am thankful that You are able to do exceeding abundantly above what I can ever ask for or even think. I worship and adore you Lord! I praise your Holy name. Charge for the week Be thankful!!! Your enemies will become an agent in the hand of God that will take you to your next level of Joy. God’s Peace & Love Oge Funlola Modie http://www.wellspringoflifeinternational.com/the-mighty-arm-of-god-release/

Discovering the various expressions of God I have been studying on the various expressions of power by God to achieve His ultimate purpose. I have settled on the Hand of God today to share with you what happens when the Good Hand of the Lord comes upon us. I am using three quick examples of persons that have experienced this outpour of Power from God. The text taken from Ezekiel 37:1 The Hand of the Lord was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones, The Hand of God is an expression of power that brings about birthing of miracles. The Hand of God brings about a ‘Speaking” anointment. Let’s look at the Ezekiel example, God asks the prophet to speak to the dry bones, he does and it becomes a great army. Hand of God – Power – Speak/Create – Birth a Miracle – Manifestation (Dead dry situations come to life, miracle is birthed) The power to speak in this case births life in dead situations, releases power to create and birth miracles –what a marvelous thing!!! For the great man Nehemiah; And may I have a letter to Asaph, keeper of the royal park, so he will give me timber to make beams for the gates of the citadel by the temple and for the city wall and for the residence I will occupy?” And because the gracious hand of my God was on me, the king granted my requests. Nehemiah 2:8 He had a great burden in his heart to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, in Chapter 1 he has been praying, in Chapter 2, he was before the King and requested for several things and because the Good hand of the Lord was on him, the King granted him all he asked for. Hand of God – Power – Boldness – Speak power backed words – Divine Favor – Manifestation (Provision/ Rebuilding the walls, great promotion for Nehemiah, God’s purpose fulfilled) Mary the mother of Jesus was visited by the Angel Gabriel, as the Angel informed her of what was to be and said to her the Hand of the Lord will be on her. When the angel entered her home, he greeted her and said, “You are favored by the Lord! The Lord is with you. Luke 1:26 Hand of God – Power – Boldness – Strength – Birthing a miracle – Manifestation (Deliverance) Like never before, in these times, we need the Hand of God upon us as we walk daily in His Will and being led by His Spirit. It is power released to the believer to thrive, live a life of victory and faith. To be bold for the God things and to be an instrument to achieve God’s agenda. What is differentiating you today as a believer? What differentiated these men and women? One of the many expressions of power- The Hand of God! The hand of God is the only thing that gives you edge as a believer. “For by strength shall no man prevail” (I Sam. 2:9 KJV). Therefore humble ourselves, under the mighty hand of God so He will lift you up! Prayer Lord I pray your Good Hand upon me. Open my eyes to see as you see and to hear you expressly. Give me an obedient heart that I may please you Father. Amen God’s Peace & Love Oge Funlola Modie

We often find ourselves in difficult situations, faced with challenges sometimes nearly impossible to cope with. These challenges could be physical, emotional, spiritual, mentally and the list goes on. Helpless you often wonder if it’s all worth it! Life can be just unfair! However , today be joyful! We have help! Yes – the Holy Spirit. Alleluia! Our text is taken from John 14:16-17 (AMP) “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor–Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever–”the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive [and take to its heart] because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He (The Holy Spirit) remains with you continually and will be in you.” The Holy Spirit is as our Helper! Ever present help in times of trouble, our Comforter in times of sorrow, our Chief Advocate, Our primary Intercessor! Much more – Our Chief Life Strategist, Counselor General, Chief Cheerleader, Strengthener of feeble knees and weak hands. The Holy Spirit is everything and all a believer needs to excel in life as a Child of God! The Holy Spirit demonstrates God’s love for us through the working out of our daily needs. Filling us with power and joy! Recognizing the Holy Spirit as the very essence of Christ and knowing that having the Spirit of God in us (The Holy Spirit) comes with these benefits, we need not fear in times of crises. This knowledge should give us the confidence to face life challenges with the assurance that we will come out victorious. The bible in (Hebrews) talks about how Jesus Christ himself was tempted in all ways like we are always tempted but never yielded to temptations, all this was made possible by the power of The Holy Spirit. It’s is very important that we recognize the ministry of the Holy Spirit in our life. Walking with Him is the key to successful life in Christ. Prayer Dear Father, I thank you for the blessing of having the Holy Spirit live in me as He guides me in Wisdom to do your perfect will God’s Peace & Love Oge Funlola Modie http://www.wellspringoflifeinternational.com/the-holy-spirit-our-helper/

A period of declarations and instituting decrees by the power of the Holy Spirit and by the authority of our King – Jehovah (Part 2) Isaiah 37:3 – (Paraphrasing) this is a day of trouble, of disgrace, when it is time to birth and there is no strength to bring forth. It would be a big shame if we cannot bring forth our new nation under God in this time. Nigeria is at its time of birthing, our Nation is in its birth pangs and it’s time to birth a new nation fully aligned with God’s agenda for its destiny. A Nation enthroned in God’s righteousness and ruled by men and women of right standing – United and Advancing, Progressive and Peaceful. This is another window that has been opened in the Spirit realm and we must take this moment- we must seize this moment! The time has come for us to enthrone God’s agenda in our Nation. See Part 1 Desperation There is a song I love singing- We are tired of the Status Quo, We want more, we are desperate people, we want more (chorus) – by Micah Stanley DESPERATION IS A SOUND! Not about words or a song, it is a sound! Let us raise a sound of desperation in the Spirit, we want more for our Nation! A story I use to illustrate desperation is that of the King that sacrificed his only son on the city wall as the battle against Israel was being lost, the Israelites saw this act and ran off, war ended; a single act of desperation ended a winning war! Are we desperate enough for a change? What are we doing? What signals are we sending to God? God let His only Son be slain for us that we may live through Him. We have access to power, authority, we are seated with Him far above all powers, what is keeping us? Get desperate, get speaking, use your authority, use the power in you through the Holy Spirit. One Nation – A New Nigeria If you follow through the definition of a Nation (show), I now understand why the Holy Spirit is insistent on using the word Nation instead of Country. Nigeria (the Country) is actually a collection of nations, yes! Take a look at the definition; we have over 700 languages, I hear about 300 exist in the Rivers Area alone. Use that definition and we have Nations here in Nigeria (sounds simplistic, yes even foolish). Remember, God uses the foolish things. No wonder we are having agitations all over for creation of different Nations, up North and in the South. However the great thing about our God is His word. He says in Psalm 2 – Call unto Me and I will give thee Nations for your inheritance…. (Read the Message Translation – It is powerful… God is asking us, what do we want!) Hmm, that tells me that we can call all nations into one nation and exist under one God. God binds us together and provides the God culture through which we live daily; the God language through which we communicate, restoring our dignity and our place amongst other Nations of the world. Do you believe? Finally Our Scripture: Matthew 18:18 I read the God Translation version of this and it says: “I can guarantee you this truth: whatever you imprison, God will imprison, whatever you set free, God will set free” The word is near, it is in our mouth, we decree in the power of our Mighty King! Our awesome God! We create and birth a new nation. It Is Time to Declare. It Is Sealed in His Name and by His Spirit For this, we can get a tag partner, I believe this because when two or three are gathered in my name, I am there in their midst (God’s manifest presence) – so find someone you can worship and declare and together, speak God’s word to our nation, daily (I didn’t say pray) for at least an hour. A period of declarations and instituting decrees by the power of the Holy Spirit and by the authority of our King – Jehovah (Part 1) Nigeria is at its time of birthing, our Nation is in its birth pangs and it’s time to birth a new nation fully aligned with God’s agenda for its destiny. A Nation enthroned in God’s righteousness and ruled by men and women of right standing- United and Advancing, Progressive and Peaceful. This is another window that has been opened in the Spirit realm and we must take this moment- we must seize this moment! The time has come for us to enthrone God’s agenda in our Nation. Isaiah 37:3 – (Paraphrasing) this is a day of trouble, of disgrace, when it is time to birth and there is no strength to bring forth. It would be a big shame if we cannot bring forth a new nation under God in this time. We must push out the baby- it is time to birth and we MUST do so by decrees and declarations. Our destinies are tied to this Nation, all we can ever be in God’s will for us is right here in Nigeria, if this is so, what moves are you making to ensure that you are aligned, positioned to be in God’s agenda for the New Nigeria? Are we asleep while the enemy sows tares among our seeds? Are we feeling safe and secure in our little kingdoms because we have not YET been affected? What happens when it becomes affected by the bigger problems our Nation is facing? What are we amplifying? What is the Church amplifying? Give us today our daily bread or let your kingdom come, let Your Will be done here on Earth as You have purposed it Heaven? What is our driving force every morning we get up? What are we declaring daily? The Holy Spirit made a clear difference between a country and a nation to me – I went looking for a definition and realized that in declaring God Will, there has to be a focus on using the word Nation and not Country. This is very key Nation is defined as a large body of people united by a common descent, history, culture or language inhabiting a particular state or territory while a Country is defined as a nation with its own government, occupying a particular territory. ARE YOU READY? War of words Why not prayer? We have prayed enough, I believe God has sent all the help we need. We need now to speak into the heavenlies, to declare what we desire to see, to create as our Father created, BY THE WORD!!!!! Remember David and Goliath, the War between the two was worn first by David’s witty words before the stone bullet!! I believe by the time David finished telling off the giant, Goliath was too angry to actually focus on what David was carrying, He called it sticks, read it again, he saw sticks whilst what David carried was a sling and stones. EMMANUEL IBE KACHIKWU: DEMAND FOR IMMEDIATE RETRACTION, APOLOGY AND PAYMENT OF DAMAGES Sequel to an unsubstantiated online publication by “The Will Nigeria” online news platform published on Tuesday 12th September, 2017 alleging extensive bribery and money-laundering activities on the part of the Honorable Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu has directed his legal team to issue a strong response to the report and in the same vein demanded a retraction of the report from the publishers. A detailed response from his legal team can be downloaded on either of these links: http:///libel-suit and http:///libelsuit (Also attached herein) The Office of the Honorable Minister of State, Petroleum Resources on Tuesday 12th September, 2017 responded to the report immediately it was published by “The Will Nigeria” on its platform stating that the story was categorically false and baseless while demanding that it be retracted since it neither had any basis nor foundation. Africa’s Prosperity lies in Human Resources not Extractive Potentials – Osinbajo Our government revenues and export bases are in dire need of diversification, away from the dangerous dependence on natural resources that we have seen in the past’ Remarks made by the Acting President, Federal Republic Of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, San, Gcon at the Extra-Ordinary Session of the Council Of Ministers of African Petroleum Producers Organisation (Appo) at Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja on Monday 24th of July, 2017. It gives me very special pleasure to be here at this Extra-Ordinary Session of the Council of Ministers of the African Petroleum Producers Organisation (APPO). This session holds at a very significant time for our continent and our countries. A time when we as a continent and indeed the rest of the world, are witnessing volatility in the petroleum market, and by implication, our local economies. The centrality of the hydrocarbon industry to the economies of our countries is self-evident. This is reflected in the revenue inflows that account for a significant percentage of our budgets and have become one of the, if not the primary sub-structures upon which economic planning is based, and from which economic development and growth are generated. Over the last three years or so, oil-producing countries across the world have experienced the full impact of the drop in oil prices, with significant negative impact on government revenues and budgets, and on the value of even national currencies. This volatility has triggered much soul-searching, and governments are being compelled to ask themselves difficult but necessary questions about the present and the future. Besides, the reality of a future where demand for and revenues from oil drop sharply, is already upon us. Almost every major oil importing country today has embarked on an aggressive non-fossil fuel alternative programme; China, Japan, and some Scandinavian states have already set dates within the next 10 to 15 years to produce and use only electric vehicles. The zero oil days are clearly around the corner. I think the point has been very eloquently made by the Honourable Minister for Petroleum Resources of Nigeria, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu. It is therefore heartwarming that, after thirty years of service to Member-Countries and its existence, this Organisation has recognised the need to fashion out and implement a bold programme of reforms. Nigeria shares this objective and fully supports the reform process that will enable APPO rise up fully and adapt to the changing realities of the global oil industry, and the global economic order. Indeed there can be no better time than now, for the reform that APPO has embarked upon, a reform to restructure its operations, and its interaction with the world, while continuing to deliver service to its members. Let me state that the reform is in the right direction and it certainly follows global trends. Our government revenues and export bases are in dire need of diversification, away from the dangerous dependence on natural resources that we have seen in the past. But also the paradox is inescapable that we need oil to get out of our dependency on oil. So the capacity to add value to the crude oil that we extract is crucial. The whole range of petro-chemical enterprise remains a largely untapped option for growing industrial opportunities, creating jobs and increasing our chances of delivering on our national and continental commitments to inclusive growth. We must leverage our oil resources to fund and to support our ambition to create economies fit and ready for the 21st century. In Nigeria we’re pursuing a series of reforms along these lines, combining executive and legislative actions to create a sector that is more efficient, more transparent, and more attractive to domestic and foreign investments. We are also making progress in fine-tuning and implementing our local content policy – and that, I must say, is one area that is critical to the future of APPO. Indeed that was one of the reasons why APPO was created; to provide a platform that will support and empower African countries to build and exploit local capacity and technology to the fullest. We know, of course, that the prosperity of Africa ultimately lies in its human resources and talent, and not in anything we extract from the earth. But as the world begins to move in the direction of alternative and clean energy, the reform of APPO should factor in these new realities, and aim to reposition the Organisation as a clear leader in this regard. We must convince ourselves of the imperative of investing today’s fossil fuel revenues in the clean energy technologies that are already defining today and tomorrow. Technology and innovation still remain a challenge to developing countries and in particular APPO Member-Countries, and this of course negatively impacts efficiency and competitiveness. I believe that your reforms must address these challenges and proffer solutions in the form of knowledge sharing, technology sharing and technology development. But peculiar to our member-countries is the challenge of ensuring that our technology-efficient ideas take into account our growing population of young people who need jobs. In order words, we must pay attention to the threat that technology takes away jobs and we must create the necessary balance so that the youth bulge that we experience is actually a demographic dividend and not a deterrent or any kind of disadvantage. Permit me to mention a matter of immediate concern. Around the world today, we are increasingly seeing crude oil – often of untraceable origins – funding the activities of terrorist groups and other purveyors of violence and conflict. Many of these groups constitute a threat or a potential threat to the safety and security in many of our member states. APPO reforms therefore need to build the capacity to maintain a reliable statistical database, and to deploy technology to track every molecule of crude oil extracted from our territories. This is an important step, not only for global security, but also for fiscal transparency, accountability, and of course the required levels of international collaboration and cooperation that an organization like APPO is well-placed to muster. In closing, let me use this opportunity to announce that from February 2018, Nigeria would host, annually, a world-class International Petroleum Summit here in Abuja. This represents our contribution to the quest for a sustainable platform for global industry players to come to Africa in the interest of the oil industry. It is now my pleasure to unveil the logo of the NIGERIAN INTERNATIONAL PETROLEUM SUMMIT (NIPS), and to invite you and industry players and your national institutions to be our guests in 2018. I am going to unveil it electronically. It is now my very special pleasure to declare this Extra-Ordinary Session of the Council of Ministers of APPO open. I wish you all very fruitful deliberations and I urge you to please enjoy Nigeria’s warm hospitality. Long live APPO. Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Long live all member-countries of APPO. Thank you very much.
