1.Choose uncommon business names. When registering your business name, think up a good business name that is not common.

2.Have an alternative business name. In the CAC availability form, you’ll be required to submit two back up names to your most preferred business name. This is for fear that the one you want has been taken by someone else.

3.Know the business model you are registering. As you want to register your business name, make sure you’re familiar with the type of business name you’re registering with CAC. Eg ltd, enterprise etc.the price depends on the kind of company

4.Avoid using correction fluid on availability form and file. To correct your mistake, simply strike it neatly with a line. This keeps the availability form and file tidy and also saves you time and money.


5.Avoid business names that require certficate back up. Business names that include words like Consult, Guru, Expert, Technician etc should be avoided. You could be required to provide a certificate backing to prove that you’re well trained in the area of business concerned.If you insist on using the name, then get a partner who has all necessary certificates to use such names and must be from a government approved institution.

6. Always follow up on your business name form/application. Check weekly to avoid risk of your business name being taken by someone who submitted after you but was following it up more closely.

eddiebruk: Why cant you just explain how to go about it rather than looking for customers who will pay you for the Job...i would rather advice anyone who wishes to apply through an Agent to do so with a private Lawyer...because Lawyers who apply in respect of their clients gets more response than just Any agency, this is the best way to go about company registration, meanwhile a LTD company registration fee has been reduced to $100 which is an equivalent to #15000 Naira as of two months ago by the federal government.

If you go to the office, u'l find that registering a business name cost more than 4000. Things have changed yet they failed to update their website(u can call one of the business lines on the site to confirm)
Using a lawyer can get d job done but not everyone can afford lawyers who will stil come back to agents to handle the job.
Handling it urself is possible but stressful (a lot start and never finish)
Finally with all due respect, I am selling myself to those who are willing to payme for the job.There's no crime in trying to make a living! Its what I do sir.

Indeed a fragile topic but I need to point out somethings.
With the amount of traffic experienced on this site, it is perhaps the best place to promote your business.
