Lesgupnigeria: WHY EXPORTATION OF UNPROCESSED RAW-MATERIALS WiLL SLOW YOUR JOURNEY DOWN TO MAKING MILLIONS AND CREATING WEALTH
Exportation of unprocessed or semi processed raw materials such as cassava chips, sesame seed, ginger, groundnut and so on is one of the venture preferable among Nigerians.
Yes,it is profitable but will not be sustainable in the long run.
The hand of time is changing its prosperous hands.in the direction of investors, individuals and entrepreneurs that are able to understand and take advantage of exporting processed food. and not the other way round.
Some prominent companies are taken advantage of that now. This is not only generating foreign currency for them,it is also creating employment for our people in Nigeria
1kg Plantain flour/cassava flour are currently being sold at $25 in major stores across US and UK which is more than 5 times profitable than exporting the raw tubers into the US.
This thread is going to show you the benefit of exporting processed food than unprocessed one.
It also.seems that government is begginning ti.realised that export of unprocessed food products is causing a lot of unemployment and robbing us of our local capacity for processing.
Recently,Nigeria Export Promotion Council said that the federal government will soon ban the exportation of unprocessed raw materials to.other countries. This mean exportation of unprocessed rawmaterials might not be too safe against government policy in the nearest future.

With FOB export contract,
profit on 1ton of cassava chips should be about 40%
1 ton = #15,000; therefore 4tons =15,000*4 = #60,000
Outsource Chipping process = #30,000
Transportation&packaging = #50,000
other expenses = #40,000
Total expenses = #180,000
sold $394/ton = 394*4 = #252,160 ($1=#160)
Profit =#72,160

Processed Plantain/Cassava flour
4 tons of raw tubers will produce 1 tons of flour
1 ton=1000kg
Production capacity -1000kg
market price/kg - $25
Production cost/1kg of flour is #320 =$2
company sales to foreign distributor =$18/kg
Profit =$[18 - 2] = $16/kg
for 1000kg =$16*1000=$16,000
In Nigeria currency= $16,000*160 =#2,560,000
You are making over 2million just by processing.
NOTE:THESE FIGURES ARE HYPOTHETICAL
Just to explain and let you see the different in profit made by exporting processed food products and exporting the unprocessed.
Many local food companies now prefer to export than sell in the local market and are raking in millions on daily basis.
This is the way to making millions...The fast lane to riches.
Ayoola foods and others are living examples
The problem here is getting buyers . It's easy to get the raw materials in my case and to process it . The problem is link to buyers .

This charley boy some of you are talking shit about is very successful in his own right wether you like it or not . Some of you won't achieve what he has even in your next life . Instead of you to mind your business so you can succeed , you are there being a judge over another mans life . For certain charley boy is an icon . Everyman should leave a life that suits him and not try to please anybody . Anybody that says okorocha is a good leader is a myopic fool .

Kairoseki77: It is disgusting that you are the moderator of the politics section during lead up to our general election.

People have been saying that you are biased for over a year. You have ALWAYS denied it and lied that you were impartial.

A few days ago you wrote that you were "the most Igbotic person on NL" and now this?!

Nairaland can no longer be trusted as a source of unbiased election coverage. Seun should be ashamed of himself for his consistenty poor hiring practices.
Guy what exactly do you want . the owner of Nairaland is a Yoruba man . Being igbotic can have its good sides too . Try and put this tribalism thing away that's the way forward.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Will Be The Catalyst Of Change In Nigeria by pdf90(m): 1:35pm On Jan 06, 2014
ba7man: I read about GEJ's achievements but to be honest..........The change he has being a catalyst in my current situation is the fuel increase.

I also plan on buying another "Tokunbo" vehicle soon but that might change due to the fact that they'll soon become super expensive.

Light situation is worse in my area, I saw renovation works at the airport but what percentage of Nigerians can afford air travel?

Trains have started transporting goods which is good but all these corrupt individuals he surrounds himself, oil theft, insecurity, different frauds exposed but he remains silent, the ethnic Politics he plays (The Igbos are my pillars), The Governors forum mess, the Port Harcourt drama, pardoning questionable characters etc leaves a bad taste compared to his achievements.

Now, the whole country is waiting for GEJ to adress them on the contents of OBJ's letter but he remains silent again. If he was truely concerned about the people, he should have adressed the Nation with immediate effect.

Everybody is saying the same thing about him and his weak stance against corruption, even George Bush (He's not an APC member).

This is not the kind of "Change" we should still be grappling with in year 2013. Nations are leaving us behind daily.
that is exactly what the opposition want him to do
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Will Be The Catalyst Of Change In Nigeria by pdf90(m): 1:32pm On Jan 06, 2014
Abagworo: Afam you should understand that the real civil right activists and the masses have no interest in who is in power but on changing Nigeria. If APC wins in 2015 and continues with corruption, tribalism and religious intolerance the civil society and masses will still turn against them. Jonathan should remove his interest from power and build a legacy of changing Nigeria for good. Let there be real credible elections. Let anyone caught involved in corruption and tribalism be given an accelerated trial and jailed or killed. That's just all I want and I'm not seeing it.

Most governors are doing well in terms of infrastructure because Nigeria is earning more from oil and not because they are better managers than those who ruled when oil was $9. We need accountability and respect for human rights.
if APC win in 2015 how do they intend to end tribalism corruption , religious intolerance . are they magicians

BusinessRe: Cassava Farming:An Untapped Goldmine For Unemployed Graduate. by pdf90(m): 5:36am On Dec 21, 2013
eminikan soso: it is true
cassava is a food crop and a hectare of cassava is about 9 tons and a ton is sold between #25k to #30k here in delta state. cost of production is like this.
land clearing and bush fire in dry season = 12000
cultivation by tractor = 10000
cassava stems (300*25) at least = 7500
labour (planter) = 4000
weeding (3 times b4 harvest chemical weeding ) 15000
total = #48500
revenue 25000*9 ton = 225000
income (225000-48500)=#176500
note the buyer pays for uproot of the cassava here in delta state.
all these can be achieve with hard labour and determination.
thanks .
