DailyNews: Hmmmmmmmm, thought-provoking indeed! What do we do? Are you guys comfortable with YAN having two arms of leadership- the administrative board and the executive arm? If we all agree to it, so be it. I was kinda worried of the size of leadership that would entail, but if we find it okay, its okay by me too, don't know about other anyway, let's wait and hear from then. Though we need to advance faster pls, if you have any opinion, kindly, politely air it here pls and pls, we are already running behind schedule, guys come on!We agreed on an executive board, remember DailyNews? We hav already trimmed down the number of persons in authority. The only thing Sunical feels we shuld do now is allow the president free reign of both board meetings and the association's administration. In my opinion, I feel a fellow board member shuld chair board meetings while the president concentrates on carrying out the decisions taken in these meetings for evryone's benefit. Pple abeg, is ds not gud? See my ANA example above. Do we want that to happen to us in this nascent stage? ANA is failing because young authors across the country dont feel they belong...that's why YAN is even taking shape nw...lol YAN is a sign of ANA's failure to properly mobilize n gather young authors into its fold. Is ds what we want to see happen here agn? Lol, for me, it will be out of the frying pan, into the fire!!! That will be a case of being bitten twice o... ![]() |
ANA uses dt structure so how hav dey bn doing since? Mayb dt structure is even their problem. If they use it n they r doing quite well, then we shuldn't b trying to create ds association because we shuld all b in ANA. Do u knw I tabled a proposal before ANA's President and up till nw, nothin frm his office? My proposal ws for d creation of a grassroot wing combin d country for new young authors. ANA members loved it when they read thru it, but since d president heads evrythin, it ws kinda dropped. I rest my case. Even the so-called board mmbrs who loved ds proposal kept mute abt it. And ds is the association you want YAN to mimick? Hmmmmmm....DailyNews and my fellow YANNERS, this is my arguement...we have already agreed on an executive board, remember DailyNews? We hav already trimmed down the number of persons in authority. The only thing Sunical feels we shuld do now is allow the president free reign of both board meetings and the association's administration. In my opinion, I feel a fellow board member shuld chair board meetings while the president concentrates on carrying out the decisions taken in these meetings for evryone's benefit. lukejd: Heyyyy!! Luks lyk anoda argument is stemin up again...pls we dnt nid 2 push on dis issue 2 fr? I tink am goin 2 mk dis issue more simpler 4 evry1 hia. All f dese r leadership structures used by assoc's n org's. Dia adoptn f wc style is dependent on dt wc fits dia org n assoc. So d tin hia is dis wc style do we tink fits dis assoc. Lets mk our views known n stop arguein n tryn 2 bring up anoda fight. Dis is my submission on dis issue.Lukedj, nobody's starting a new fight. It's just dt all of a sudden, our legal Prof. Emyo is nowhere to b found...desperately need your help here, Emyo!!! Sunical needs to see dt it is suicidal for the president to head both the board n execs at the same time. OK, why is GEJ not the President and Senate President at the same time? Or PDP Chairman for dt matter? At least, ds is one issue Emyo agrees with me. Where him dey sef? |
Sunical, Writer's Guild of America has an executive director appointed by the board. Rmmbr we had such an arrangement before you argued for it to be changed to president? Nw you want us to look into a constitution with this very same provision...hhhhmmmm....Uniquexty, I hope you still have that your cane in hand? Sunical, the question is this...why do you want a President rather than an Executive Director like these your white friends dey propose for their constitution, and yet you don't want the leadership format dt properly allows for a president rather than an executive director? Been going thru dt constitution n there r some things it can teach us, but did we hav to go bck to the constitution, seriously? Aftr the ugly chapter we'v successfully closed here? |
sunical: Look at another pattern here:It's not my type of leadership style, please...why do we like personalizing issues everytime a topic is brought up? I didn't form this leadership format. It's been there. The associations you listed here are foreign associations? What makes you think the same format you propose will work here in Nigeria? What I'v bn getting from u all ds while has bn 'designating duties to mmbr this and mmbr that.' What happens when a mmbr is not given a duty by ds your mighty President/Chairperson when evryone knws he can do this better dn the person who got d job n dt it was due to bad blood b/w presido n him dt's why he wasn't givn d job? Impeachment of presido? lol...n u were talking of smooth running...Sunical...why dont you want a board member who will be a chairperson? He's just anothr board membr for cryin out loud. He wont impede anything...rather IT WILL BE A DISERVICE TO ALL OF US IF AT A POINT IN THE HISTORY OF THIS GREAT ASSOCIATION THE PRESIDENT IS GOING AHEAD WITH A BAD DECISION NONE OF US HAVE AGREED TO GO ALONG WITH SIMPLY BECAUSE HE IS HEADING THE EXECUTIVE BOARD AS PRESIDENT/CHAIRPERSON. We v trimmed down the leadership n put the president in the board, but I still feel he shouldnt head both the board n executiv committee. This is Nigeria, not some far flung nation state where almost everyone abides by the rules. |
sunical: And here's a good constitution just in case.Don't know why you are bringing this up now. Let me get you...our present constitution isn't to your taste? Please kindly point out the errors on THAT constitution and stop pushing us back. This link you pasted here is good, but I hope you will kindly take out time to draft a constitution based on this for YAN and not PEN or those others. It's a hell of a job doin that and I tot we'v rested the constitution issue? Na wa o... |
DailyNews: Treasurer will definitely be reserved for the females. Then Vice President if we accept to go by that structure. if not, Treasurer and Secretary will be for females. We need to finalize this issue and move on with the election talks. Meanwhile, peaceworld how far have u gone with the publicity of the election to get more voters? and to create more awareness? Thats very important remember.Check the advert I posted on our fan pg...unfortunately bn offline for sometime now...just doin my best... |
sunical: Who will "checkmate" the Chairperson? The chairperson is just another board member. The president can checkmate the board if he chooses to. Hope ds answers your question? The president is already there. Note we r only talkin of rare situations when things don't walk out well b/w evryone here... |
sunical: @PeaceworldChairperson is just another board member. He heads the board meetings. Wonder why you are talkin of decision delays when this is gud for any association when d final outcome favours everyone. How can board members check the president when he, himself, heads that same board? Just don't buy it...like the discussion, though...we'r all saying the same thing peeps, the chairperson is another board member. DailyNews, hope u understand? OK, mayb he is elected by his fellow board members to be their spokesperson after the elections? Sunical, impeachment procedures r ok, but don't you think it will be a long n cumbersome road for decisiom taking? I stil think d president shuld just head the executive committee and not the board as well. Even if we adopt ds, Sunical, a board chair will still emerge from amongst the board mmbrs. Trust me...n Phiozy, Uniquexty...make una shine una eye well well before una dey second and dey third ds proposal cuz u ladies might end up being d ones complaining about it...BTW...DailyNews, we havent designated any leadership quota for the girls yet. This is very important o... |
sunical: Welcome Phiozy. Will do. Oga DailyNews, please outline the offices we are contesting and voting for again, using the leadership hierarchy we have agreed on. Also note the electoral fee for each job in your next post. We agreed on... Chairperson President Secretary Treasurer PRO Board members (which are up to 4 or 5) Zonal Coordinators (3) Post this here so that I can update the fan page accordingly. Sunical pls allow the Chairperson position. It is good he is there as head of the Executive Board, though the president will be the head of the Executive Committee...mayb we will use this in the constitution because it is still trimmed down and yet assuages all our fears. What do you guys think? DailyNews, abeg post those fees so that I'll know whether to join the fray right now...
|
DailyNews: I buy this idea, peaceworld, pls lets go with this pls....Hhhhhmmmmmmmmmmm....mayb it's time u guys listened to our learned law proffessor, Emyo...Phiozy, if we structure our leadership this way, then d president will be able to do as he pleases...cuz he heads the 'Executive Board' ie he heads everything, and believe me, Sunical, nothing will run smoothly. The Chairperson's job is rlly to checkmate the president. I'd rather suggest we remve d vp positn...n I'm sayin all ds cuz I'v seen it happen in school, where d President, heading a kind of Deliberation Committee, decided to go rogue for his own selfish end. I see YAN growing vry big, DailyNews, so if it is d numbr of people availabl to contest dz posts you're worried abt, dn we can decide to go on ds for now, but leave d constitution as it is because, trust me, someone must raise this issue down the road... ![]() |
sunical: Board members are "elected". Day to day activities can be ran by any member "appointed". Some associations even employ people to run the activities. What I am saying is that there is no need for Executive and then Board. Let's have one leadership group called Executive Board.Nice idea...but this is YAN and not PEN. I think we should shape our own leadership the way we all agree we can work with. Have issues with the president chairing the board n the executive at the same time. |
Please note Iv fixed the dots above. They r nw numbrs, but wow, seems all the numbrs for section citations hv disappeared like magic above - this one na hari hudini style o... Emyo just highlight the area you want altered and YAN on. Got ya bck...![]() |
Emyo here's the constitution I promised to post here. So sorry culdnt bring in all gud correctns u made due to fatigue in d night. Why not we go like this:OK sir, but 12 is not too much o (removin vice chairperson). That way, comitees can b formed in the board n capable hands given the reigns of these subcmtees. It's like a checkmate for all d work we hv put into this, n it helps put more YAN hands on deck. Besides, the board helps clarify issues with the president n d executive president can work better if he has his own secretary n treasurer. THE PRESIDENT'S TREASURER WILL B THE BOARD'S TREASURER'S ASSISTANT. IN THAT WAY, CONSISTENCY IN THEIR RECORDS IS MAINTAINED. |

sunical: Hello All,Will be adding job descriptions of all the positions in our association into the constitution. Will paste the entire constitution on this thread tomorrow after I have done this. Emyo, I'll need you to use that your law sagacity this time for a good end. After I paste this new draft here, highlight changes you feel should be made after this in the next post you will make. Please be specific so that I can know where to go. Changing those dots, but really, bros, you could hav just called me when you had issues burning within you...we could have settled it all without all the fuz dt just went down... ![]() |
Emyo: Omo c biafra war on Nairaland. Joor o. Were Awolowo d? He want to die out of laughter b4 u c.ome save 9ja? Kai Mtn una no try at all. wel it is what it is, i ve put my points accros, but my chioce of words was bad. Gowon, ojukwu na ur brother is jux dat what u drafted cant b called a constitution. Like i said 'association' and 'organisation' used interchangeably in a legal context is flaw to d sight of legal learned bulldozer. To prove my point goto http://le.utah.gov/documents/LDM/draftingManual.html and check out were consistency of words was treated wel please u and everybody should check dat website above and giv me d feedback. Incase u co.me accross any Nigerian Legal Method check out for this topic, legal reasoning in legislation, if u coo.me accros d 1 edited by Abiola Sanni check page 208, consistency of terms is very important. Goto any library u wil find d book.Speechless. OK. Will visit the site, but please you will have to modify all those posts you made up there n remove all those insulting remarks you channeled towards me. It doesn't help YAN's progress at all. |
Uniquexty: Am i in the right thread? Ushers stand behind me, i'm fallingHow r u, dear...very funny post indeed...na Emyo dey put spanner for our wheel...if we have left this constitution to him to draft, na broken grammer him go take scatter YAN! Imagine you dont know the meaning of a word, yet you go ahead and use it cuz it makes you sound more learned... What kind of a human being is that fella? Mmmmmmhhh.... |
Emyo: Thank God dailynews have opened the floor again towards the betterment of yan in respect of the constitution.Emyo, hope you're ready for this? Here goes... 1. I never did created a second draft out of discrinate isolation. Lafing in Chinese...2. I did improve on your draft. Yep...with broken grammer! ![]() 3. How can DailyNews send us a final draft before we all adopt it? Thought you knew the guy by now? He's not dictatorial? 4. It's an abysmal of legal draft... ![]() ![]() Abeg talk small small? I lifted the part you corrected here from your own constitution, so guess you were correcting yourself here...5. Again, association and organization mean one and the same thing... ![]() 6. There's nothing like CAC Act. It's Companies and Allied Matters Act of 1990, so you were wrong as well. 7. Please do I need to repeat the association/organisation relationship again? 8. Have noted 'in due course' used in many other constitutions, so what r u saying? 9. 'this is a very ambigious expression. Young AUTHORS OF NIGERIAN'S goal covering even the oyibos outside nigeria enh.' This is a very shameful example of the rage eating you. Are you that blind to what was said here? 10. Saw nothing wrong in saying 'whether their works appear in print or not.' Remmbr we are helping them get published in the first place? 11. Yes, it's Nigeria's first association catering for young authors alone! Emyo please be proud of what we intend doing here for once! 12. Don't even want to go into that your BBC tirade...you really showed your ignorance there... ![]() Couldn't type it all rt here because you really showed your ignorance in that write up...YAN should be grateful that she has you, but the manner you go about exhibiting what you know (and what you think you know) leaves much to be desired. Thanks to you, I have stopped working on new ways to promote YAN because of something I thought was long past....mmmmstchewwwwwwww...... |
DailyNews: My brother, what else do I have to say, other than what u rightfully said in your previous post? tell me? See, when I woke up this morning with YAN on ma mind, the first issue I addressed on YAN wassap group was this same issue, and it was as if God was speaking through you at the same time He spoke through me on our wassap group. I have done everything beyond my capacity to ensure peace and harmony reigns bw the duo, all to no avail. This worried me to the extent that I picked up my phone last night and dialled peaceworld to ask if he was a lawyer or a law student cos Emyo is, which may be the cause of their frequent opposition to each ones opinion, but peaceworld confirmed to my greatest amazement that he is not, so I wondered if they knew before now, and still no...I don't really understand what the problem could be. on several occasions I have spoken to Emyo to pls n pls try and accomodate people even in their flaws, and he always promised me he will but to no avail. For chrissake, how can we expect a baby that just learned how to walk to start running the same day? is it possible? YAN is a new born baby struggling to stand and we expect it to start running like a teenager, how pls? Nigeria as a nation that has existed for over 50 years is still struggling with whether the constitution should be amended or not, so why do we expect our constitution to be 100% perfect at this onset without even running a trial to see how the things we stipulated in the constitution would work or not, thats totally absurd I must say it. Our having members who happens to be experienced in law and legal matters shouldn't be a curse but instead a blessing, so why are we ignorantly killing a baby we jointly raised? why? pls and pls, Emyo you need to come publicly here and apologize to peaceworld and peaceworld you do same and u guys must finally embrace each other with honesty and sincerity of heart. Don't we love God at all? don't we fear God? don't we read our scripture and what have you? don't we know that without peace there won't progress and lastly a NAGGING WIFE IS WORST THAN A PROSTITUTE WIFE! Happy weekend lovely people! This is strange cuz I never started ds. I'm not the one insulting anybody. You don't go about insulting people just because you're reading law ( 1st year). That's not d way to progress when you're working with others. Simply point out errors from the draft constitution with your law knowledge and I will take it all in. Is that not what I said? The first thing he did was to put forward his own draft, hence sidelining the draft I labored on for a month. Where was he, being the law student he is, when we were talking of drafting a constitution? OK, we then settled the second draft issue...and suddenly, out of nowhere, this new madness came up. Emyo, is it that difficult to table your corrections to the constitution without insults? I think I owe you no apology. I have never insulted you or anybody here, and BTW, 'organization' and 'association' are interchangeable....hope you have a dictionary with you, or try it on MS Word...a pity you were so blinded with rage that you failed to note your blunders as you mapped out your sins in the constitution...about those sins...thanks for the few errors you rightfully pointed out, but really, did you have to insult me while doing this? That was very very shameful of you...since you don't know that ORGANIZATION and ASSOCIATION are interchangeable, don't you think that points out one clear fact? That we're all down to earth, error-prone human beings? No? OK...will point out your errors for you in my next post, titled, THE SINS OF EMYO'S FIVE HUNDRED AND SOMETHING SINS OF THE CONSTITUTION...even a thirteen year old can do this, trust me... ![]() |
Emyo, this is why you shuldn't do things on your own and alone. Most of the sins u pointed out in the constitution are very laughable. Will reply this your tirade asap. |

pearl~hapi:Will do my best. This laughable dude isn't worth my time...:| |
pearl~hapi:Is he rlly my friend? Seriously doubting dt...friends dont use the language he used up there.... Will look into the issues he brought up, but I'm seriously apalled by this. Sunical, Emyo has shown he can't be an unbiased umpire in his own words. I think our election won't be free and fair if he regulates it...wow...this is a guy I tot I knew...you dont insult pple like this just bcause you think you're better than them...do you know I'm currently editing the novels of Netty Ejike, ANA's Enugu Chairperson? In addition to other works I'm reviewing, I'm working on Frank Anozie's Cyber Lover for some time now. You can call him yourself and ask him what he thinks of me 08027410988 You think I'm just a dude you happened to come upon? So pathetic...wow...even if the constitution ws adopted as it now is, it can still be amended...this...this is nauseatin... ![]() |

Emyo: 19 na the defination of Branch inter-woof with zones? Sotal, it flowed into elections of representatives? Legal luminary joor o.Wow...for someone I've seen in person, you really don't deserve my respect anymore. Pity you think you can put forward your corrections with the language I'm seeing here. Pity. It's like you've really got this pent up anger towards me. I'm just trying to make things better. If you rlly wanted to help initially, you shuld hv pointed all this out when I was askin for it, not presenting it in this way as well. And they say you'll be the electoral umpire? This shows ur alrdy biased towards me...I'm so ashamed of having ever known you... So sad...you really think you knw me cuz you've seen me just once. You dont knw who you befriended the day you met me. You don't even know what I was planning to do for you. Reread my posts here on NL over the years and you will know who you think you're messing up here. Back in Nigeria cuz my Mom had stroke n my sister ordered me to stay back. Emyo, you've really done it this time. |

Emyo just highlight the area you want altered and YAN on. Got ya bck...
