sunical: I know what you mean. I'm not saying we adopt every link on the sites. Just for inspiration to give you my idea of what I mean by "mature-feel" as opposed to "youth-feel". I know it takes a lot to get graphics done, though, so I greatly appreciate your efforts. But I think we should get other members' opinions on the home page being green-white-green. I do object strongly; also considering the "youth-feel".

OK...Let's vote on ds...

Sunical saw the sites. They are beautiful but a bit complex.I think we need a simple site in order to help all our members. You know, a site that has the basic links to help us...move fwd? DailyNews suggested more link...opportunities and contests...have more page ideas? Pls post here...working on new page designs...

sunical: No problem at all with the designs. They are great. I can easily replicate them here. However, I have some thoughts in mind. The design is perfect, but it has a youth-feel, which I think may not be what a 40-year old may identify with. Also, the dominant green color is top-notch, but we may not hesitate to experiment with other colors. We mustn't stick to green-white-green since it's not a government-owned association. Green-white-green can be limiting in terms of crafting out a great design.

In summary, I am looking at a website with a mature-feel that doesn't give away the ambience of one meant for under 30s.

DailyNews: You are so amazing guy...I am really glad we have someone like you and sunical... ...meanwhile, just find a way to incorporate "Opportunities" and "Contests", and please what is IAI? We need to have a group meeting via groupme sunical suggested, but there seem to be some little challenges with activating the account to enable us invite members for the conference, but I am still working on it. We are really moving forward....

IAI is Indeginous Authors Initiative.Told you about it in Enugu? Where published authors among us get to place order posters and request forms in big franchises like Mr Biggs n MTN...

DailyNews: Awesome...but pls can you add these tabs to the page?

1. Events = News Galleria I guess? (it should be for the purpose of displayirg pst and upcoming events and activities, etc)
2. Contests (to display opportunities YAN is offering to members and non-members who have a doting passion for literary work, e.g. writing competition for teens, for adults (tertiary students), and national short story/poetry contest open to people bw the age of 18 and above).
3. Opportunities (to display the various publishing and promotion opportunities YAN is going to offer to upcoming and established authors of literary works in Nigeria)
4. Book Store (to display YAN books and other bestseller novels, and literary works for members and non-members to order or purchase)

The aforementioned tabs are very necessary pls find a way to incorporate it into the design, thanks...you did a great job...YAN is going to make a difference in Nigeria.

Please DailyNews, need you to make me a Manager on the fan page so that I can better sell the club to young ones there...this is what you do
1. Go to your 'Edit Page' link on the top right corner of the fan page when you open it and click on it. A drop down menu will appear.
2. Select 'Admin Roles' from this menu and when the new window comes up.
3. Type in my email (mailgeorgeshadow@yahoo.com) and when my picture appears, choose 'Manager' and save everything after typing in your password. Please this is urgent. Here's a taste of what I intend adding...just one of the posters...

On the issue of Zonal Coordinators; who will be our Zonal Coordinator for North East and North West where we don't have members yet? I still don't see the need for Zonal Coordinators.

When is the voting? If we still have up to 2 weeks to the voting, I can create a simple secured portal for us to vote. It will be more flexible and customized than Nairaland's. Please advise.

Checkin out the sites u sent rt now. I feel we need zonal coordinators cuz they come from their zones and culd better reach hidden talents in their zones dn any mass media program national culd ever come out with...and pls remember that our motto tends towards ds as d main reason for setttin up d club...besides, it fosters a sense of belonging...ANA has chapters in every state...why cant we tow ds line since there are more youths than any other person in ds country? make una no make ds mistake o! If a political party doesnt have branches all over d country, it doesnt get registered...what of the young authors who don't hav d pleasure of d internet like u, sunical? What will he do if his village has no NEPA? The Zonal arrangement costs us nothing, so why should we scrap it? But if DailyNews wants to go ahead with that, OK by me...will get bck to u on the sites...ASAP...

Sunical please cldnt open the site u sent me on my Omnia's browser, mayb will do this when I get back home to my laptop weekend...pls peeps, I think if we want to vote now, we can do so with nairaland's voting system while we wait for d site...or wont dat do? Also, my opinion about the zonal arrangement is that it is very important in spreadin d gud news to all d nooks and cranies of d country...ds is d basic job of zonal coordinators, so dat any remotely hidden talent will nevr b left out of ds gospel we are bringin to every Young Nigerian Author. But should we scrap d zonal thing, then d task of reachin every young author in the country becomes a problem. Why shuld we scrap d arrangement? I dont think it will cost d assoc a dime to maintain d zonal arrangement since d ZCs are residing in their zones...if we want to scrap dt from d constitutiion, then we need to put in place another effective arrangement dt will equally cost us as much as d ZC arrangement...absolutely nothing! The zones can organize their meetings n whtvr on their own...money for such endeavours will come from their purses. Mayb we add ds to our constitution? Just my humble opinion...

Sunical its nice to hear that you're a site developer and doing it free for us...love your idea about the voting thing...no I'm not a site developer...but my cuzin is and yes he will ask for money, but if you can do a better job than him, there's no reason why we cant choose you...but then he is very good...he designed a voting system for his school, FUTO, and that means he can bring in that idea into any site if we need him to, just like you...but I need visual examples of what you have done...Chima did my Reviewpen project and God, what a site that was! Couldn't launch the site though, cuz his laptop crashed and he didn't have a backup back then. Well, guess he learned his lesson with that...smiles and a new Core i5 hp later, he's doing really good right now. So BTW, any site links I can see what you have done?

We had a great speech (which was recorded) by Okechukwu Okonjo Iweala, the son of the minister of finance, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala who is a lecturer in the US and jst came home for holidays.
Mehn.. I tell u it was fun-filled.. Despite his american accent, his speech was really inspirin and encouragin, and he gave us d email address of his brother who is a great and known writer, also based in d US. He's a very simple and outgoin young man. Refreshments were served, lots of ideas, contributns, etc.. D minutes of d meetin wld come shortly...here are d pictures taken.

1. Association's name. YAN is good, but something better will b very welcome. Name should b an acronym the young can relate to, something fun and free and creative like DREAM or Glo or SHOUT...get what I mean? SE has proposed YAN, so we're waitin for u guys to propose yours...may the best name b adopted...
2. The Draft Constitution. Download this doc for thorough scrutiny on that day. More reason meetings should start early enough cuz ds doc is the club's soul, I tell ya...SE couldn't finish pondering over it, but guess we tried...u guyz should go further n iron this out.
3. IAI. The Indeginous Authors Initiative. Discussed this during d SE Meet but didnt knw whethr sec noted it in d minute she'll soon paste here. Has to do with d club meeting d big national companies like Mr Bigs (UAC FOODS), banks,etc n canversing for d use of their branches across d country for order points for published authors in our community...of course agreements will need to be signed, and such partners will b gettn comissions, but u guys should expand ds idea in ur meetings. Every good idea is welcome.
3. The Club's Story House...will be like Big Brother or something according to DailyNews but the theme will b writing...how good the participants can spin out or YAN tori within the house n how good their stories will b. Prizes will b based on the best author n will b big in order to attract tv viewership. We can sell this idea to sponsors.
4. CAC registeration...though I think DailyNews has worked this out. We paid N1000.00 each for this in our SE MEET...Fee is for CAC registeration...rmmber dt.

Once again, the North Central Zonal meeting would be taking place right in the city of Abuja, at the Millenium Park on the 28th of July. Time: 11am-1pm... The National Co-ordinator, Dailynews, being represented by the South-East Co-ordinator, Emyo, would be giving a speech on the plans, and the way forward for this great association among other things. 'You can't fit just miss it'! Please NC members should endeavour to be present, no matter how busy.....
