People get into relationships with hope that it would last for a very long time, but that isn't always the case sometimes.
When a relationship becomes unbearable due to certain unpleasant circumstances, then you might consider ending it.
So how do you know when to quit a relationship that's not working?
Here are eight signs you need to look out for:

1. Infidelity: While you may give your partner a second chance if they cheat on you, you may also need to consider letting them go when this becomes a regular occurence. The first time may be a mistake, but repeated acts of infidelity is inexcusable and you don't have to put up with such a person. Someone who hurts your feelings over and over again does not love you, so you need to let them go

2. Physical Abuse: If your partner hits you once, there's a chance it can happen again. Whether it happened when your partner was drunk or during a heated argument, this is a real cause for concern. You might decide to forgive and forget, but you will always live with that emotional scar. A person who has no emotional and physical restraints is a time bomb waiting to explode. Save yourself the trouble and end the relationship.

3. Negative Addiction: You cannot have a fruitful relationship with a person who is perpetually high on drugs or alcohol. Sooner or later, they'll drag you into their fuzzy world of addiction. A person who you cannot carry on a normal conversation with because their heads are always in the cloud, isn't worth your time.

4. Deception: A partner who tells lies every time is not someone that can be trusted. Of what use is your partner if you can never get a truthful response from them on simple matters? If you only hear the truth about something your partner did or said from other people, then it would be wise for you to drop this person before you drown in a sea of lies.

5. Poor Communication: One of the keys to a lasting relationship is communication. However, if you find yourself in a relationship where you and your partner hardly talk or have nothing to say to each other when you are together, something is terribly wrong. If you cannot carry on a normal discussion without resorting to arguments and fights, then you two will do better apart than together.

6. Disrespect: Respect is reciprocal - to receive it, you have to first give it. This has nothing to do with age, but more to do with courtesy. A relationship where the two people involved talk nasty to each other or treat one another like rivals, is one that needs to end. Note that respect comes naturally in a loving relationship. This means a lack of mutual respect in your relationship indicates a short supply of love.

7. You've Grown Apart: Perhaps the fire in your relationship has died down after years of being together. There's still a chance of revival in this kind of situation - take a trip together, do the exciting things that made your relationship fun in the past or go for counselling. If none of these works, then it's possible you two are tired of the relationship or simply grown apart. At this point, it's fine to start considering a breakup.

8. It's All About Sex: If all you and your partner get into is sex, sex and more sex, there's a major problem. Do you only connect when you're in bed? Does your conversation only revolves around sex? Obviously, this is a Friends With Benefits (FWB) arrangement. This kind of relationship lacks substance and will eventually fizzle out. If you need to be in a real relationship, quit this one and move on.

telling yourself. If it
was a 'private university' ... I would have made graduated with 'strong' 2.1.

* If you think true love is the
only thing that is hard to find...try
looking for your HOD when you
need his signature
on a form.

* In UNICAL you don't need to
go far for anything...right in your
hostel you have an electrician,
painter, carpenter,
plumber (even a
drug dealer).

* You're walking with a beautiful lady inside campus
and before you
know it...she has hugged like
15 guys. (that part can pain me. . . )

* UNICAL guys can configure
free browsing on small Nokia
torchlight phone. (I no mention
Yahoo join o. Lol).

* You get to class as early as 6.30am only to see that
all seats have
been occupied by bags & books abi dem de leave am for sch go bk house?.

* Lecturer: Only 10 students in
class today? Oya tear
a sheet of paper for test....turns to the

* You checked your year one
results and immediately give your life to Christ

reaching 44 and the possibility of it climbing higher, one can only thank God that Buhari and his party, APC, were not in power when Nigeria and indeed West Africa suffered the Ebola outbreak. It would have been a monumental disaster.
It is sickening, smacks of gross incompetence and a display of high level of crass irresponsibility on the part of our government of the day to be talking about setting up a National Action Committee to tackle the outbreak nearly three weeks after its emergence was officially declared. The Action Committee would be inaugurated at an Emergency National Council on Health meeting. The question is, what is “emergency” about calling a council meeting over a disease that has been allowed to ravage citizens for so long? Why did it have to take the intervention of the Senate via its committee on health for the Buhari administration to be talking of a council meeting to tackle the fever? Why did we have to wait for 44 of our citizens to die before action is being taken? Under Jonathan, Ebola could only spread to three states of Lagos, Enugu and Rivers before it was effectively contained. Why did we have to now wait for this Lassa fever to spread to 10 states before waking up from our slumber?
Surely, there is a lax attitude from this government towards the wellbeing of its citizens. It is obvious this government lacks any action plan for its citizens whether in health, employment, economy, education, social welfare, infrastructure etc.
When compared to the progress made under the Jonathan administration and the commendations the country received from all over the world with regard to the dogged fight put up against Ebola disease, one would have thought that Nigeria should only improve on that in tackling any disease of similar trait. But with the Lassa fever saga, it has become obvious, and another incontrovertible proof that the “Change” promised Nigerians during the campaigns is nothing but a change for the worse.
Lastly, in the interest of the nation and fellow citizens, I will advise the Buhari administration and the APC to eat the humble pie and approach the PDP for advice on how best to tackle this latest disease before it ravages all of us, and as a responsible and patriotic party, I will also strongly advise the PDP not to withhold any information and or resources from APC when they are approached for advice and expertise. This country belongs to all of us and we must see to it that our citizens are defended stoutly against any disease, no matter how deadly!

Between Jonathan’s Ebola Fever and Buhari’s Lassa Fever

At the time of writing this essay, Nigeria has lost 44 of her citizens to the dreaded Lassa Fever which like the equally dreaded Ebola Virus Disease is a haemorrhagic fever that spreads easily from one person to another even at the slightest of contacts. The two diseases need a comprehensive action plan involving the people and relevant agencies, local and international, as led and mobilised by government who deploys all resources necessary, be it human, cash and material, to tackle the menace headlong before it ravages the citizenry. That the disease has claimed 44 lives already within a short period of time shows how deadly it can be.
The Ebola virus which caused a worldwide stir in 2014 and claimed about 11, 000 lives in West Africa alone when the epidemic occurred that year, can be considered to be more fearsome because of the number of casualties it claims per occurrence and its rapid spread to even Europe and the US which also lost some seven citizens together in the outbreak.
However, with all its threats and spread; with all its fame for defying medicine, the then government of Presdient Goodluck Ebele Jonathan rose up to the occasion and confronted that monster with total commitment and vigour, mobilising government agencies, personnel and other resources; sensitising schools, offices, churches/mosques etc while equipping hospitals and other public places with anti-Ebola kits and releasing the sum of N200million each to Lagos and Rivers States which had reported cases of the disease then despite the states being led by APC, the then opposition party, the disease could not do much damage to Nigeria contrary to genuine fears and worry expressed by the international community then.
Although outbreak of the disease was reported in West Africa, precisely Guinea, in March 2014, it did not give the world much concern until it was brought into Nigeria by a Liberian diplomat, Patrick Sawyer. The moment the Ebola disease found its way into Nigeria, the alarm bell was rung all over the world because of Nigeria’s population and her lack of expertise to handle such an outbreak. However, with President Jonathan’s commitment, drive and patriotic approach to the fight against the disease, Nigeria managed to still eventually lose seven of her dear citizens while Europe lost three and the US lost 4. However, Liberia has lost 4,809, Guinea lost 2,536 and Sierra Leone lost 3,955.
Even the World Health Organisation (WHO) commended “…the Nigerian Government’s strong leadership and effective coordination of the response that included the rapid establishment of an Emergency Operations Centre… strong public awareness campaigns, teamed with early engagement of traditional, religious and community leaders, also played a key role in successful containment of this outbreak”, hence, Nigeria was declared Ebola-free on October 20, 2014, exactly just three months after the first reported case. Thereafter, Nigeria had the luxury of even sending health workers to other sister African nations affected by the disease to assist them combat it.
Furthermore, the WHO Country Director in Abuja, Dr. Rui Gama Vaz, described Nigeria’s exemplary handling of the outbreak as a “spectacular success story.” It was, indeed, a commendable achievement.
In spite of all these achievements and accolades poured on Nigeria then for this rare feat, the All Progressives Congress (APC), the then major opposition party, tried several times to politicise the issue and distract the Jonathan administration from focusing on tackling the disease headlong so they could use it as one of their campaign issues against the then president, an issue which resulted in the PDP and Jonathan chiding the APC on different occasions for politicising what would have been a national disaster on all citizens irrespective of party affiliation, ethnic background or religious leaning but for government efforts.
Fast forward to 2016, and with the outbreak of the Lassa Fever which was officially declared by the federal government in January 2016, despite the Minister of Health saying it has been with us for 6 weeks (as at 8th of January, 2016), yet, the Lassa fever has killed 44 Nigerians as at January 18, and distracted by the so-called corruption cases deliberately churned up by the authorities as a decoy to parry the attention of Nigerians from other urgent national matters, Nigerians do not seem to be asking questions as to why the high fatalities within such a short period of time. Federica Mogherini, European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security has replied Biafra agitators and the Organization of Emerging African States (OEAS) over their call for a referendum.The OEAS had earlier requested that the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security utilizes their good office to help bring about a referendum for Biafra’s independence.

The OEAS also called for release of all Biafran political prisoners, a stand down of Nigerian forces, and a snap referendum to be held within 90 days.

In response to their request, Mogherini replied Dr., Jonathan Levy, OEAS Chief Administrative Officer, stressing that, the European Union’s official position is that while it has strong diplomatic and economic ties with Nigeria, “protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms remains a priority for the EU and we encourage the authorities [Nigeria] in every occasion to respect such rights.”

The EU went on to advise the OEAS and Biafrans that self-determination and border changes must be in accordance with established international law. The OEAS has called for an internationally recognized referendum on Biafra independence or autonomy. The EU has indicated it will only recognize a Biafra born via international law and not armed secession.

To achieve a referendum, the OEAS advises all nonviolent means should be utilized including general strikes, economic boycotts, work actions, demonstrations, lawsuits, and civil disobedience. Nigeria is a member of The International Labor Organization (ILO). The ILO recognizes the right to engage in general strikes and the right to strike is also recognized in the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights of 1966 (Article 8(1)(d)).

I am a level 200 student in a school here in Nigeria. I went to check our results for last semester, and she was withdrawn because she failed about eight courses. Came back today, she asked me about it, I told her she passed although I didn't tell her I saw it, just told her the lecturer said so, now she's happy and celebrating, not knowing she has been withdrawn, am restless, I feel pity for her, should I tell her the truth or just pretend all is well.

The Management of the University of Calabar has announced a Two Week Mid Semester Break for all students of the University with effect from today 12th October, 2015.
Students are expected to vacate the Hostels on or before 6:00pm to enable Management address the issues raised by the students.
Normal academic activities would resume on Friday, 30th October, 2015.
Note: No Student should be found on Campus, especially within the Hostels
after 6:00pm today 12th October 2015

The botched visit of President Mohammadu Buhari to Cross River State may have cost the state 200 million Naira according to reliable government house sources.
President Buhari was billed to visit Calabar tomorrow, 21st of September to perform the ground breaking ceremony for the 240km superhighway from Calabar to Obudu in the northern part of the state but the visit was cancelled owing to concerns about whether or not the Environmental Impact Assessment for the projects has been done and fears that the road will constitute danger to the Cross River National Park in Oban, Boki LGA.
CrossRiverWatch gathered that arrangements were already in top gear to give the President a befitting visit to the state with the disbursement of funds to Security chiefs to put things in place and ensure a hitch free visit. The visit was coordinated by the office of the State Security Adviser, SSA Mr. Jude Ngaji.
Based on security advice to avoid using road in any journey that exceeds 25mins, CrossRiverWatch learnt that the state government got a contractor to excavate and build a concrete helipad in Nsan community, next to the spot where President Buhari was meant to perform the ground breaking ceremony.
Mr. President was expected to land at the Margaret Ekpo International Airport and after brief festivities at the airport, take-off in a Presidential chopper while the governor and his own entourage take off in another chopper to Nsan in Akamkpa LGA, since the journey by road from the Airport to the location is about an hour. A demo landing was supposed to be conducted on Friday but was also called off.
Our sources say the Chairmen of Akamkpa and Biase LGAs were specifically directed to mobilize five thousand people each to be at the venue of the ceremony and the airport while funds were also said to have been disbursed to party stalwarts across the eighteen local governments of the state to mobilize members of the party from the LGAs to Calabar to welcome the President.
Branded T-shirts had already been printed and were supposed to be distributed on Monday morning on instruction of the SSA, while adverts were already running in the state owned media, CRBC announcing the visit of Mr. President.
Other publicity materials like large outdoor banners and bill boards had also been printed and were meant to be displayed this weekend before the visit was called off. Top government sources told CrossRiverWatch that N200million was earmarked for the visit. They also regretted the cancellation of the visit and said it was a huge setback for the project.
A decision to postpone the ceremony was communicated to the governor in a letter signed by the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari.
The Presidency attributed the shift to a letter written to the President by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Environment, Nana Fatima Mede.
According the PS, the proposed highway, if allowed to go on, would cut through the Cross River National Park.
The letter also said that the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) on the proposed road was yet to be carried out.
But the governor, through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Ita stated that the proposed road would not traverse the Cross River National Park, as the superhighway would be several kilometres away from the national park.
According to Ita, “Based on the input of the Cross River National Park, the road has since been re-routed with the alignment now several kilometers away from the park.
“As a governor who is passionate about the preservation of the state’s biodiversity with his establishment of the Green Police, he would not embark on a project that would undermine the environment.”
But all that will have to wait until the President changes his mind. At the moment, the cancellation of the visit is a huge blow to the state and it really hit the governor below the belt because he did not see it coming and was in very high spirit prior to the cancellation.
Most of the government functionaries contacted by our reporter were unwilling to be quoted on the cancellation. But the effect of the botched visit was very obvious the following morning in government house as the governor was not only absent from work, the general mood in the place was unusually very low with people wearing long faces and speaking in hush tones.
While some expressed optimism that the President will return to perform the ceremony when the issues raised are addressed, others accused the opposition APC of orchestrating the cancellation of the visit for political reasons.

Following JAMB directive for admission into Tertiary Institutions for 2015/2016 Academic Session, the University of Calabar, called on candidates who chose the institution as their first choice in the 2015 UTME exams, and meet the required cut-off point for various Departments in the institutions.

The Exam Governing Body (JAMB), also introduced a policy which increased the cut-off point from 180 to 200 and above; that automatically disqualified students from their preferred choice of institutions.

The policy met stiff rejection, complaints and protests from Jambites and their parents. Though the policy was later reversed by JAMB.

My major concern here is the post-UTME registration fee for candidates who qualified to seat for the examination following a cut-off point of 180 and above for all Departments in the institution with exception of Medicine & Surgery and Law which were placed at 200 respectively.

According to statistics released by JAMB, about 27,000 candidates chose UNICAL as their first choice of institution. Since candidates scored high in this year’s UTME, then no fewer than 15,000 candidates applied for the 2015/2016 post-UTME in UNICAL.

The sale of post-UTME form was put at an outrageous sum of N6,500. In an attempt to justify this despicable act, the institution deceived the general public that the Post-UTME will be CBT (Computer Based Test). JAMB used same to conduct her nationwide examination and sold the form for N4,500.

It can be recalled that, this same extortion of Admission Seeking Students (Jambites) by tertiary institutions in the guise of Post-UTME or Aptitude Test, generated a heated debate in the national polity in 2011/2012, and the issue was deliberated upon on the floor of the National Assembly, with a resolution that no institution should charge candidates more than N1,500 to purchase the post-UTME/Aptitude Test forms.

Most Federal Institutions in the country like ABU, UNIJOS, BUK etc. have adhered to this directive. But the case of University of Calabar (UNICAL) keeps increasing without any justifiable reason. No wonder the institution is fondly referred to as ‘UNICASH’ by her students and other members of the public who are aware of their extortionist characteristic.

Over 15,000 students (Jambites) paid this amount to register for the Aptitude Test which took place on the 24th and 25th of August, 2015. To the greatest surprise of Jambites and their parents who accompanied their wards to the institution for the scheduled exam from various parts of the country, the examination was the traditional Paper/Pencil format (NO CBT as promised), conducted in dilapidated venues (class rooms), with uncomfortable writing desks and wrong time management system.

The poor arrangement made most candidates to miss their examination venues, since it was not in their Aptitude Test Slips which cost them a whooping sum of N6,500 to obtain.

This tradition of extortion by the institution has continued for a long time, with the University Governing and Regulatory Bodies keeping mute and paying deaf ears to complaints from the public, which make us to ask if the governing and regulatory bodies are part of the ungodly act of extortion in the University or they are just not ready to carry-out their statutory responsibility.

The Nigeria University Commission (NUC) and other university governing bodies in the country need to speak-out; or maybe critics of these bodies were right for holding that, “the best action from these bodies is to do NOTHING”.

On the 31st of August, 2015, candidates who succeeded to seat for the examination despite the cost, were excited to hear that the post-UTME results had been released.

But their happiness was cut-short when they were directed to pay another sum of N1,100 to purchase the ‘result checking scratch card’ from designated banks. Now if our mathematics is correct, the form cost N6,500 and for candidate to see their result, another N1,100 was demanded from them by the institution, amounting to a total of N7,600 from over 15,000 candidates (Jambites).

With an inscription on the result checking site which reads: “This is NOT an Admission Letter, it is JUST a statement of result”.

What in God’s name will you call that if not theft? The general public should note that, carrying capacity of the University is less than 5,000 excluding students from Pre-Degree and Diploma Programs which the University runs.

The admitted candidates in the last academic session were asked to pay N15,000.00 acceptance fee; while those before them paid N10,000 each, therefore, this set of Jambites who will succeeded should expect to pay N20,000 or N25,000.

The Management was quoted last session when this issue was brought forward, as saying that, “Acceptance Fee is for the benefit of the new students”. Like any lies, those benefits are yet to be made manifest; since less than 5% of the present year one students only got bed spaces (Hostel Accommodation) two weeks before their first semester examination, meaning they spent over three months on the streets of Calabar attending lectures; with another payment of about N7,000 to gain access to such bed space.

Their class rooms are still in poor conditions with little or no implements to aid their studies. The institution also charges students about N50,000 for school charges while other Federal Universities pay less than N20,000 and UNICAL demanding such amount from her students is simply despicable.

This is also a call on our anti-graft agencies like the EFCC and ICPC to seat-up and do their work, instead of chasing politicians about who are simply smarter than them.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Obtain Post-UTME e-scratch card or paper or paper card based on the options below. You will be required to pay N6,500.00 which covers the screening fee, practice question papers, CBT/portal and bank charges.

First Method:
Walk into any branch of Enterprise Bank Ltd. nationwide.
1. Pay for University of Calabar Post-UTME PIN and the bank will post the payment to activate your pin.
2. Login with the generated PIN for the post-UTME on http://unical.postutme.org with the generated PIN for the Post-UTME.

Second Method:
The Paper Scratch Card Option
Post-UTME Scratch cards are available for those who reside in Calabar or have difficulties in obtaining the e-scratch card receipt.
1. The Examination is Computer Based Test (CBT).

2. For applicants within Calabar, the following banks may be used:
UNICAL Microfinance Bank, WEMA Bank Plc, Enterprise Bank Ltd, First City Monument Bank Plc.

3. For applicants outside Calabar, the following procedure applies:
On obtaining the scratch card, proceed to any internet facility. Log on to http://unical.postutme.org
On the home page, you will be required to enter your JAMB Registration no. in the box provided. Be sure to put your correct JAMB No. and scratch card pin to enable you gain access. Upload your passport and signature, click on: “submit” and follow the on-line instructions.

FINAL STEP
1. Confirm your entries before clicking on submit. After clicking on submit, print the form as evidence of your registration and bring it along to the screening venue.
2. Download the version of Practice Questions related to your Programme of study after filling the online application form.

DEADLINE
Registration will shut down at 12.00 midnight on Monday 3rd August, 2015.

Candidates are required to come with their 2015/2016 original examination UTME result slip showing candidate’s photograph. If you do not have this document, click here to get yours

NOTE:
(a) Impersonation is a serious offence and anyone caught impersonating will be handed over to the Law Enforcement Agents.
(b) Any Candidate who fails to take part in the screening exercise automatically loses his or her chance of being considered for admission.
(c) GSM handsets, calculators, or any other extraneous materials MUST NOT be brought into the screening hall. Such materials if confiscated will not be returned.
(d) Parents/Guardians should please stay away from the University campus on the screening days. They should stop by the gate.
Early commencement of registration is advised to avoid web congestion in the dying hours.
