The Independent National Electoral Commission says it will review the Supreme Court's Certified True Copy of its judgment on disputed provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 before deciding how to implement it. INEC’s Deputy Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Wilfred Ifogah, said this while responding to newsmen's questions on the implications of the judgment.

The development comes as some candidates whose political mandates may be affected by the Supreme Court ruling insist the judgment does not affect them. Ifogah said INEC will first receive the Certified True Copy of the judgment before meeting to study it and decide on its next steps.

The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld INEC’s appeal against a July 16 judgment of the Court of Appeal, which voided some provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 relating to political party membership registers and the nomination of candidates.
