53-years-old Dahiru Buba who trekked from Gombe to Abuja for 15 days to celebrate President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory in the 2015 presidential election, said he has no regret over his action.

While Speaking to the newsman in Gombe on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 Buba said Buhari has lived up to the expectations of Nigerians in his eight years in office.

Buba said;

‘’Buhari’s administration has done well in addressing the Boko Haram insurgency that almost sacked my community in Dukku Local Government Area (LGA) of Gombe State.

“We can only thank Buhari for that and many more dividends of democracy. Looking back to 2015 when I trekked from Gombe to Abuja for 15 days, I will say I thank God I didn’t trek in vain.

The Supreme Court has re-affirmed Ademola Adeleke as the elected governor of Osun state.

The Supreme Court gave the ruling today May 9, 2023, while delivering judgment in an appeal filed by the immediate past governor of Osun state, Adegboyega Oyetola of the APC challenging the ruling of the Appeal Court which earlier affirm Senator Ademola Adeleke as the Governor Elected.

Delivering judgment, the five-member panel of the Supreme Court led by Justice Emmanuel Agim, re-affirms Ademola Adeleke as the duly elected governor of Osun state.

Case Facts: Adegboyega Oyetola (APC) VS Ademola Adeleke (PDP) VS Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the July 16, 2022 poll, saying he scored 403,371 votes to sack Oyetola who was the then incumbent and polled a total of 375,027.

Oyetola and his party had alleged irregularities in the polls and challenged Adeleke’s victory in the tribunal. On January 27, 2023, Justice Tertse Kume who gave the majority judgement upturned Adeleke’s victory and declared Oyetola the winner of the poll. Justice Kume held that Oyetola scored the majority lawful votes of 314,931 against Adeleke’s 290,266.

Not satisfied with the judgment, Adeleke and the PDP headed to the Court of Appeal, which on March 24 nullified the tribunal judgment and returned Adeleke as the winner of the state guber election. Aggrieved with the Appeal Court verdict, Oyetola and the APC went to the Supreme Court which today upheld the ruling by the Court of Appeal.
