I've been having neck pain lately due to an inactive lifestyle. I work around a desk 8+ hours per day.

Try working out. If you just stuff your body full of fats and calories, you'll just get unhealthy. Working out creates a natural way of increasing you daily intake.

I think for strong pain you'll need something that can take the edge off the worst pain. I might say something like morphine but that drug is not recommended for longer treatments, only to be used during short intense periods of pain relief.
I you're looking for a more natural way of relieving pain I would definitely recommend getting a heat pack or something like that. They can relief pain and retrieve both heat and cold for quite long. I'll drop a link to the place where I got my wheat bag:
