Cos I leant beating her won't solve buh makes matas worst!

In addition to the OP's response, just keep things out of site and keep ur pet busy. I had that problem with my dog half Alsatian,it would chew at anything. I had to get toys and chews, never puts it in its kennel except there is a guest coming in or going out. I leave it to roam the compound running around and sometimes engage it by running round the compound with it having to chase me. Just keep it busy. You can also buy bones from ur local meat seller. Once my dog has its bone nothing else matters.

dasparrow:

Thank you for your question. German shepherds need plenty of exercise. They were initially bred as working breed dogs. When you don't keep your dog busy and make sure he get's plenty of exercise, then the dog becomes destructive because he has all that pent up energy inside of him that he needs to let out.

Please make time to exercise your dog. You can take him on a long stroll every evening on a leash or you can get him a ball and play 'fetch' with him. These foreign breed dogs are not like our local dog breeds that you just acquire and then leave him to his own devices to fend for himself and keep himself busy. No, it does not work that way with foreign dog breeds. White and Asian people created these specific dog breeds for a purpose and as such, people ought to do some research on these various foreign dog breeds in order to know their history and what they were originally bred for so as to know what to expect of their behavior and know their exercise needs. You just don't purchase them and then when they begin to act out their nature, you begin to wonder what's wrong. All the best!

In addition to what u said, I would advice you purchase dog toys or chews from a pet shop or the big departmental stores. It helps a lot or better still u could buy bones from ur local meat seller and have them get busy with it.

Amefrica: I have a mastiff dog, this dog is so faqin aggressive.. He breaks chain a lot. There was a day I was hiking with him, then suddenly the chain got slipped from my hand.. Believe me, he started chasing a goat, I ran after him, shouting calling his name, but he wouldn't answer.. He caught the goat and killed it.

How can I stop him from being aggressive, I swear if this dog should catch a thief, this stewpid dog is gonna eat him.. I'm so hating him now, very aggressive and disobedient..

Advice!!

In so far as I know that the mastiffs are very big and aggressive, you can still tame it. How long have u had it? I would advice u look for a dog trainer to give it obedience training. When my dog was 10months old (a crossbreed half Alsatian, half dobberman) we got a trainer to train it,at fist he started with aggressive training but told us the dog had natural aggression and they were going to commence obedience training. Just get a trainer and hope u don't feed ur dog with raw meat or anything that has blood. Cook all their meals or alternate with canned and dry dog foods and be up to date with its vacine especially the distemper vacine.

emmasege: I know their political calculation now is a Buhari-Amaechi ticket, but still can never work. I didn't realise that the guy was still this popular in Rivers. I care less about rented crowds, what was on the National TV yesterday was the picture of a people displaying their unalloyed love and loyalty for their leader. If APC truly means business and wants to dislodge PDP from Aso rock , let them give the ticket to Amaechi and get a northern muslim as his running mate afterall this is what PDP is also fielding in 2015. This will surely divide the vote for Jonathan even in his backyard-south/south. And as for the rest of the country, Jonathan can forget about it.
I am not a supporter of the APC going by the sort of leaders they parade, but will definitely prefer an Amaechi presidency to the current one.

u make sense die, good thinking!

Family / Re: Why Are Married Men Never Contented With Their Wives? by pepperliny(f): 10:38am On Oct 15, 2013
The simple answer is because they lack a personal relationship with God! The depth of love a man has for his wife does not guarantee he will not cheat, the only thing that will stop him is the fear of God knowing that what he is about to indulge in is a wicked thing and will grieve God's heart. This theory also applies to the female gender.

$3 Million Bribe: Keyamo Files Charges Against Farouk Lawal
A Lagos based lawyer, Festus Keyamo on Wednesday entered a 4-count criminal charge against the erstwhile Chairman of the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on fuel subsidy probe, Farouk Lawal for allegedly collecting the sum of $3million as bribe from the Chairman of Zenon oil and gas, Femi Otedola.

Mr Keyamo had earlier given the police one week ultimatum to charge the embattled lawmaker over the bribery scandal.
The lawyer named the former Secretary of the fuel subsidy probe Committee, Boniface Emenalo as the 2nd accused person in the charge which was filed before the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court.
Mr Keyamo maintained that the proof of evidence adduced against the accused persons over the alleged role they played in the cash-for-clearance scandal, indicted them of criminal conspiracy, gratification and criminal intimidation contrary to sections 96 and 396 of the Penal Code Act, Laws of FCT, as well as, Section 12(1) (a-b) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, Cap C31, LFN 2004.
According to him, their offence is punishable under section 97 and 387of the two aforementioned Acts, respectively.
The lawyer gave the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke a 6-days ultimatum to either okay the already drafted charge or hands-off the matter to enable him as a private prosecutor to conduct the trial.

In a letter he sent to the AGF alongside a copy of the charge he personally drafted against Misters Lawal and Emenalo, Mr Keyamo, insisted that the AGF must “indicate whether he is prepared to prosecute or not,” on or before the close of official business on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, “to enable me determine my next line of action,” he added.
The letter read: “My name is Festus Keyamo. I am a Nigerian citizen, legal practitioner, senior member of the Nigerian Bar, private prosecutor, social crusader and critic.
“Last week, I gave a seven-day ultimatum to the Police to commence prosecution of one Farouk Lawan, a member of the House of Representatives and his accomplice, one Boniface Emenalo, for agreeing to and actually accepting gratification from one Femi Otedola in order to doctor the report of the House ad-hoc Committee on fuel subsidy.
“From reports I read in the media after issuing my ultimatum, the Police have passed the buck over to your office for the inaction so far, claiming it has finished the investigation and that your office has just refused to file charges for reasons unknown to the public.
“It is for the above reasons I have prepared a Charge (attached herewith) for the purpose of private prosecution.
“Therefore, consequent upon Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Act, Cap C41, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004,

I forward herewith the following proof of evidence and documents to yousad1) The Criminal Charge against Farouk Lawan and Boniface Emenalo.
(2) The proof of evidence: (a) A recording of a telephone conversation between Farouk Lawan and Femi Otedola contained in a memory card wherein Farouk Lawan was soliciting or asking for gratification to doctor his report, and appealing to Otedola to keep it secret. (b) The transcript of the said recording. “(c) Court processes (including a sworn testimony on oath) in Suit No. FCT/3839/2012: BETWEEN ZENON PET. & GAS LTD. & ANOR. V. LAWAN & ORS, where the graphic details of how the accused persons solicited for, and received gratification from Femi Otedola are stated. Needless to say that these are just proofs of evidence and the originals shall only be presented during trial.
“May I kindly request that, by virtue of Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Act, Cap. C41, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, you endorse on the Charge whether, having seen the Charge, you are prepared to prosecute Farouk Lawan and Boniface Emenalo for the counts in the Charge or whether you have declined to prosecute at the public instance the counts in the said Charge.
“The position of the law is that, before I commence private prosecution, you should be given the opportunity to prosecute or to decline to prosecute. This is what I have done by this letter.
“I will expect your reply by the close of official business on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, to enable me determine my next line of action.
“I sincerely hope you will make your decision one way or the other as any indecision on your part will amount to a refusal to act as held by the Supreme Court in the case of CHIEF GANI FAWEHINMI V. COL. HALILU AKILU & ANOR: IN RE: ODUNEYE reported in 1987 (4 NWLR) P. 67. In that case, it will be all-clear signal I require to file the Charge.”
Specifically, the 4-count charge Mr Keyamo filed against the duo reads: “That you, Honourable Farouk Lawan and Boniface Emenalo, sometime between January and July 2012 in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, within the jurisdiction of Federal High Court, conspired to corruptly demand and receive the sum of $3,000,000.00 (Three Million US Dollars) as gratification from Femi Otedola, and thereby committed the offence of Criminal Conspiracy contrary to Section 96 of the Penal Code Act, Laws of FCT and punishable under Section 97 the same Act.
“That you, Honourable Farouk Lawan and Boniface Emenalo, sometime between January and July 2012 in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, within the jurisdiction of Federal High Court, corruptly asked for, received and obtained the sum of $620,000.00 (Six Hundred and Twenty Thousand US Dollars) as bribe from Femi Otedola, and thereby committed the offence of gratification by an Official contrary to Section 12(1)(a) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, Cap C31, LFN 2004 and punishable under the same section.
“That you, Honourable Farouk Lawan and Boniface Emenalo, sometime between January and July 2012 in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, within the jurisdiction of Federal High Court, corruptly agreed to receive the sum of $3,000,000.00 (Three Million US Dollars) as gratification from Femi Otedola, and thereby committed the offence of Gratification by an Official contrary to Section 12(1)(b) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, Cap C31, LFN 2004 and punishable under the same section.
“That you, Honourable Farouk Lawan and Boniface Emenalo, sometime between January and June 2012 in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, within the jurisdiction of Federal High Court, threatened one Femi Otedola with injury to his reputation and his companies, with intent to cause alarm to Femi Otedola and to cause Femi Otedola to give you a gratification of $3,000,000.00 (Three Million US Dollars) in order to avoid the said injury, and thereby committed the offence of Criminal Intimidation contrary to Section 396 of the Penal Code Act, Laws of FCT and punishable under Section 387 of the same Act.”
Phones / Google ‘X Phone’ A Wireless Charging Phone? by pepperliny(f): 10:51am On Jan 24, 2013
Google ‘X Phone’ A Wireless Charging Phone?

Google will be unveiling a new smartphone as early as spring of 2013, in conjunction with the Motorola, the mobile phone manufacturer Google acquired in May 2012.
Though its executives didn’t mention it in today’s earnings call, but the device called Google “X Phone,” may come as early as spring 2013.
At this point its existence and capabilities are pure speculation—rumoured features range from a bendable screen and a ceramic case to advanced gesture recognition technology—but whatever it is, it will be the first true “Google phone,” where everything from its hardware to its software will be under Google’s complete control. (Past efforts at creating Google-branded devices, as in Google’s Nexus line of phones and tablets, have always been partnerships with a variety of manufacturers outside Google.)
Twice during today’s earnings call, Google executives emphasized that when the company bought Motorola, Motorola already had a 12 to 18 month “product pipeline” in the works, which Google is still “working through.” Google could have shut down Motorola’s work on existing handsets, but that would have involved bigger short- and long-term losses than the company was apparently willing to take. It also means that all of the devices that Motorola has released since it was acquired were already in the works, and the same is likely to be true until at least spring of this year. (A good example is the Motorola Motogo! phone, which looks like a dated BlackBerry and doesn’t even run Android.)
Rumours have already circulated that Google will reveal a Motorola-built “X Phone” and “X Tablet” at its next developer’s conference, which is scheduled for May 15-17, 2013.
In today’s call, Google CEO Larry Page said that “In today’s multi-screen world, the opportunities are endless… battery life is a huge issue… when you drop your phone it shouldn’t go splat. There’s a real potential to invent new and better experiences.” Page also mentioned phone recharging as a pain point for people. This is speculation, but the obvious interpretation of these comments is that Google is working on—or at least thinking about—phones with extra-long battery life, some kind of novel (perhaps wireless) recharging capability, and a case that won’t break when the phone is dropped. (Which is possibly a reference to earlier rumours about Google’s X Phone using an extra-hard case that incorporates ceramics.)

The Christian Wife - The Perfect Wife
By Wanda Collins

Are you a Christian wife? Have you been stressed, depressed, or frustrated by your unsuccessful attempts at being the perfect wife? If so, here's some news that should be rather liberating. Are you ready? here it goes; the perfect wife does not exist. That's right, you can place her in the same category as June Clever, the Easter Bunny, and Santa Claus.Sure you can find Santa in every mall shortly after Thanksgiving. And the Easter Bunny is certain to be seen at the Easter parade. But underneath the costumes are imperfect men; covering up who they really are for the sake of a fantasy.
Unfortunately, some of you ladies have been doing the same thing in your marriages. You've been wearing a mask to cover up your dreams, your desires, your hopes, and your deepest hurts, all for the sake of fulfilling an unrealistic fantasy. What is the fantasy? that the Christian wife is a perfect wife.

The more noble things she does, the more she'll be accepted and loved. She's suppose to work a 9 to 5, cook dinner every night, pick up all her husbands dirty clothes, laugh at all his jokes, take care of the kids, look like a super model all day long, teach Bible study, and then bury all of her hurts and disappointments for the sake of peace.
Well my sister, if that's what you've been doing, it's no wonder you"re stressed out. My advice is to stop DOING things in order to be perceived as the perfect wife. Notice I said perceived - that's because as I already stated, the perfect wife does not exist. Instead, find out who God has called YOU to be - then, simply be yourself.
Am I telling you not to try and please your husband? No, that's not what I'm saying at all. As a Christian wife, you should strive daily to honor and please your husband. What I am saying is that you should not beat yourself up for failing to be something that does not really exist. Cut yourself some slack and relax a little bit.
If all of the laundry doesn't get folded, it's okay. If you don't laugh at every corny joke your husband tells, it's alright. And frankly my sister, don't you think it would be better for your marriage and for your health if you discussed your hurts and disappointments with your husband rather than burying them for the sake of pseudo-peace? That means "fake" peace.

Rather than focusing your efforts on always DOING, focus instead on BECOMING. That is, becoming the person God had in mind when He formed you in your mother's womb. By the way, He knew you would not be perfect.
When you make this shift in your thinking, you'll begin to understand that God's perfect plan for marriage, as ironic as it might be, involves two imperfect people; an imperfect husband and an imperfect wife. Now, embrace your quirks, and trust the Holy Spirit to transform you into the woman that God desires, and ultimately into His complete image.
Health / C-section Babies More Likely To Become Overweight by pepperliny(f): 3:35pm On Dec 13, 2012
C-section babies more likely to become overweight

Children born via cesarean section are slightly more likely than babies delivered vaginally to become heavy or obese, according to a new review of studies.
The results don’t prove that c-sections cause kids to put on weight, but Dr. Jianmeng Liu, one of the authors of the study and a professor at Peking University Health Science Center in China, said the link between the delivery and obesity is important to keep in mind.
“The potential health burden of obesity and other diseases associated with c-section births should not be neglected, even if its impact is modest, particularly given” how often births happen that way, Liu told Reuters Health in an email.
Previous research has tied c-sections to a variety of untoward health outcomes in children, including asthma, allergies and diabetes.
Liu said that the relationship between the type of delivery and obesity among kids hasn’t been as clear. The research team collected the results from nine studies that included more than 200,000 people.
People were 33 percent more likely to be overweight or obese if they were born by c-section, researchers report in the International Journal of Obesity.
Nearly 70 percent of adults in the U.S. are overweight or obese. A 33 percent increase from that number would mean that 93 percent would be heavy.
The risk for childhood obesity in particular was somewhat higher – about a 40 percent increase over kids born vaginally.
Nearly one in five kids aged six to 11 is obese in the U.S., according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Liu said the increase in risk was modest, but that it persists into adulthood. When the researchers looked just at the studies on adults, they found that those who were born surgically were 50 percent more likely to be obese than those who were born vaginally.

WHY THE LINK?
It’s not clear why c-section births are tied to a better chance of being heavy.
One possibility relates to the bacteria babies are exposed to when they are delivered vaginally, which might affect the way they process and store food, said Liu.
Additionally, Liu added, researchers have suggested that c-sections are linked with a lower concentration in the umbilical cord of a hormone important in regulating weight and with a reduced rate of breastfeeding, “both of which are reported to be associated with an increased risk of later obesity.”
Babies who are larger than normal are also more likely to be born via cesarean, but most of the studies Liu’s team analyzed took into account birth weight.
Cesareans have become increasingly popular, and in the U.S. now one in four babies is born through a c-section.
Liu said there’s been concern that some of these are unnecessary, and given the potential negative impacts on children the unneeded ones should be curbed.
“In clinical practice, (the) potential adverse impact of c-section should be considered by medical staff, and non-medically indicated elective c-section should be somewhat avoided, where possible,” Liu said.

Lagos: Court sentences man convicted for traffic offence to 8 hours labour

A 29 year old man, Joseph Nwudu arrested by the Lagos State governor, Babatunde Fashola was on Thursday arraigned before an Alausa, Ikeja Special Offences Court for road traffic offence.

Mr Nwudu was arrested by the Policemen in the convoy of the governor for driving one-way on November 2, 2012 when he ran into the convoy of the governor.
The Lagos state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ade Ipaye was the prosecutor in the suit filed before a Special Magistrate Court presided by Senior Magistrate E. M. Johnson.
The commissioner for Justice who led two other lawyers, George Okeke and Femi Alabi for the prosecution alleged that the defendant was accosted by the policemen working with the governor for driving his Honda Accord IV- TEC model marked XW 646 AGL against on-coming traffic at about 1.05 am on the day of the incident.
He said that the defendant, who faced a one count offence of violation of road traffic offence, was coming from Campbell Street inward to J.K. Randle road on the Lagos Island.
Mr Ipaye said that the defendant’s vehicle was impounded and brought to the office of the Task Force at Alausa while he was subsequently charged to court.
The commissioner urged the court to proceed to apply the Lagos Traffic Law 2012 against the defendant.
When the charge was read, the defendant pleaded guilty as charged and to the facts of the case as narrated by the state Attorney General.
His counsel, Segun Ayodele however pleaded for leniency for the defendant who he said is a first offender and has no record of breach of traffic law of the state.
Ayodele said that the defendant does not reside in Nigeria but in Dubai and that he was in Nigeria to attend to his ailing father who died five minutes before his arrest.
“He is remorseful having realised what he did is against the traffic laws of the state” Mr Ayodele told the magistrate adding that on the day in question, he just lost his father about five minutes before his arrest.
According to Ayodele, the defendant had on the day preceeding his arrest, took his ailing father to St. Nicholas Hospital and was with him till he suddenly passed on during the night.
He said the defendant was going to his hotel room to pick some things, including money to be paid before the body of his father could be admitted into the morgue.
“It was in this emotional condition that the defendant set out to go to his hotel room when he inadvertently went into one-way against on-coming traffic.
“The route he even took that day was a longer route to the alternative route available”, he said adding “in view of this, I urged the court to be compassionate with the defendant”.
Mr Ayodele pleaded with the court to take the situation of the defendant into consideration and for the magistrate to use her discretion in determining judgement in accordance with section 36(3) of Road Traffic Law 2012.
Delivering judgement, the magistrate found the defendant guilty as charged having considered the facts of the case as stated by the AG and admitted by the defendant.
She thereafter sentenced the defendant to eight hours of community service.
The magistrate said she was mindful of the circumstances on hand and the emotional shock the defendant was going through as at the time the offence was committed in arriving at her decision.
She however stated that the defendant must also give an undertaken that he would not violate Lagos Traffic laws again.

Politics / Aganga Seeks Improved Export Of Nigeria’s Non-oil Products by pepperliny(f): 10:01am On Nov 06, 2012
The Minister of Trade and Investment, Olusegun Aganga on Monday said now is the time for Nigeria to secure her own share of global wealth by boosting export of manufactured goods.

The Minister, who made this call at the third Nigeria non-oil export conference, exhibition and awards, disclosed that the country spends millions of foreign exchange importing finished products made from raw material exported to other countries which paint a ridiculous picture of Nigeria in the global market.
Mr Aganga called on Nigerians to expand and promote the nation’s non-oil exports by identifying pragmatic solutions to the critical issues impeding the country’s export growth to make lasting changes.

Three key issues that were discussed at the conference were quality assurance, packaging and branding and incentives for production.

These were identified as the main obstacles to launching Nigerian products in the global markets especially with the fierce competition by manufacturers from other countries.
The conference is set up to discuss issues with Nigeria’s non-oil exports and find acceptable solutions.
Politics / You Need Education Not Luck To Succeed – Jonathan by pepperliny(f): 9:29am On Nov 06, 2012
President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday said education rather than luck is the foundation for success.
The president, who made this statement during the commissioning of the Jigawa State Academy for the Gifted at Bamaina in Birnin-Kudu, also commended the state governor, Sule Lamido for promoting peaceful coexistence in the state.
“Some journalist used to ask me about luck and I told them that as much as there is luck, education is the major determinant of success. I could not have been where I am today if I am not educated” stated the President.
“You have to prepare yourself” he added.
The president expressed his delight with the state governor for his investment in education saying, “I am happy that Governor Lamido has decided to invest in the future of our children by identifying those with gift and training them.”
“We, at the Federal level are also sending those with first class to the best training centres in the world so that they can come back to develop our country.”
The President, who had earlier launched the college for remedial studies, noted that education is the basis for development in today’s modern world.
He warned that without education even our agriculture will be stagnated because of obsolete techniques
According to an official of the Jigawa state government, the college for remedial studies will evolve to become the Jigawa State University in Kafin-Hausa Local Government Area-.
Giving his remark, Mr Lamido said the his vision for establishing the school is to develop manpower that will transform Jigawa state in the future.
He further adds that the school is part of the transformation agenda of the Jonathan’s administration.
President Jonathan, who is on a two-day working visit to Jigawa state, is expected to inaugurate some projects built by Mr Lamido’s administration.
The president will also lay the foundation for an airport estimated at N5 billion in Dutse, the state capital.

Nigeria’s worst flood kills 363, displaces 2.1 million people – NEMA

The flood disaster that was recently witnessed across Nigeria has been described as the worst in at least half a century, killing 363 people and affecting over 7 million people.
According to figures released by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Monday, the flooding which began in July has displaced 2.1 million people.
The agency said 7.7 million people were affected by the flood between July 1 and October 31 and that 18,282 people have been injured.
Seasonal flash floods are often experienced after heavy tropical rains, but the sheer scale of the devastation recorded this year has shocked everyone.
President Goodluck Jonathan last month called the flooding, which has submerged parts of the south, a “national disaster” but said it would not trigger a food crisis.
Flooding in the oil rich Niger Delta, has disrupted oil production to the tune of around 500,000 barrels per day (bpd) – more than a fifth of nation’s oil output – according to the Department of Petroleum Resources.
A cocoa industry body, last month predicted that cocoa output would fall far short of a 300,000 tonne target because of excessive rain.

10 Nigerian multi-millionaires never heard of
In the month of November, FORBES will publish its annual official ranking of the 40 richest people in Africa. A lot of research has gone into the making of this list and this year, we’ve uncovered several hidden holders of wealth across the continent.
Many of them are names you’ve probably never heard. In the coming days, this author will list at random, ten relatively unknown high net-worth individuals from various African countries, pulled from our extensive wealth database.
This is the first part in the series. Here are ten low-key, ultra-wealthy Nigerian tycoons, entrepreneurs and business leaders. Each of them is worth at least $50 million. There are no politicians or criminals here — just good, successful businessmen.

Sports / Lance Armstrong Dropped By Sponsors Over Doping Evidence by pepperliny(f): 4:37pm On Oct 17, 2012
Sportswear giant Nike, cycle maker Trek and Budweiser brewer Anheuser-Busch will cut ties with the former cyclist.

Armstrong, 41, who has been stripped of his seven Tour de France titles, has also stepped down as chairman of his cancer charity Livestrong.

The three companies pledged to continue to support Livestrong.

Nike said in a statement "due to the seemingly insurmountable evidence that Armstrong participated in doping... we have terminated his contract".

Anheuser-Busch will not renew its sponsorship deal with Armstrong when it finishes at the end of 2012, while Trek is ending its long-term relationship with the American with immediate effect.

Another of Armstrong's sponsors, sportswear firm Oakley, said: "As we have stated in the past, Oakley does not approve in any way the use of illegal substances for enhancing performance in sports.

"Our policy with our athletes is to support them until proven guilty by the highest governing body of sport or court of law. We are reviewing the extensive report from the Usada, as well as our relationship with Lance, and will await final decision-making by the International Cycling Union."

The decisions come a week after the United States Anti-Doping Agency (Usada) released a report containing accusations of widespread doping by Armstrong and his teams.

It contains sworn statements from 26 witnesses, including 11 former team-mates.

Usada ordered 14 years of Armstrong's career results to be erased. The American has always denied doping, but gave up his fight against the charges in August.

Nike, which added that it was "misled" by the American for more than a decade, made a U-turn on a statement released last week when it said it would "continue to support Lance and the Lance Armstrong Foundation". Nike and Armstrong had been in partnership since 1996.

Armstrong also announced on Wednesday that he would be quitting his role as chairman of his cancer charity in order "to spare the foundation any negative effects as a result of controversy surrounding my cycling career".

The Texan will remain on Livestrong's 15-member board, with vice-chairman Jeff Garvey, who was founding chairman in 1997, taking over Armstrong's role.

Armstrong added: "As my cancer treatment was drawing to an end, I created a foundation to serve people affected by cancer.

"It has been a great privilege to help it grow from a dream into an organisation that today has served 2.5 million people and helped spur a cultural shift in how the world views cancer survivors."

Livestrong spokesperson Katherine McLane told BBC Radio 5 live: "I think he reached this decision because he holds this organisation close to his heart and he thinks of this as akin to one of his children in terms of how deeply he cares for it.

"Surprisingly throughout the last few years, with these issues being in the news, we've seen an increase in the number of people that support (Livestrong) and contribute."

Former England footballer Geoff Thomas was inspired to set up his own foundation after reading Armstrong's autobiography days after being diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia in 2003.

Armstrong led the tributes when Thomas was awarded the 2005 BBC Sports Personality Helen Rollason Award in recognition of his charity work, but Thomas said the American "had done the right thing" by stepping down as chairman.

"I think it's damage limitation while everything is going as it is - there's a news story about Lance every day," the 48-year-old told BBC Sport.

"Lance stepping down will probably take the heat away from the charity itself and put the focus solely on him."

Thomas contacted Armstrong on Twitter , writing: "@lancearmstrong please for your sake, come clean. If not yours, for the millions you have inspired over the last 15+ years."

Romance / Re: Women's Submission Vs Men's Love by pepperliny(f): 1:24pm On Jul 28, 2012
bukatyne: i m really enjoyin this topic and i agree wit sexrevives and Thoniaslim's points amongst others. i ve come to realize wit revelation that wat is obtainable in most Nigerian homes is not submission, it's servitude or wat a popular pastor calls 'glorified slavery'. A typical nigerian marriage only fulfills 1 out of d 3 reasons for marriage: companionship, prevention against adultery and child bearing and we all know d one they fulfill. initially, when i saw ...'wives submit to ur husbands...', i thought God was been sexist. However, on further study, i realized that the love God expects from men is much more indepth than even d submission of women. God compared His love for isreal to the love a husband has for his wife. i read 1Cor 13:1-8 and i realized that when a man loves genuinely, he lays it all for d woman. he believes d best of her. he can do anything to make her happy. she is his world and everything! King Solomon even said in Proverbs that 4 things amaze him and d last is 'how a man loves a woman'. when d man loves his wife, he esteems her above himself. he considers her first in all his decisions. when that loved woman submits, she esteems her husband above himself and considers him first so there is a balance. some people wonder y d man must love first; d man finds d woman and is d head (the source/building block of that family). a loved woman will do everything in her power to please her husband. she ll think of cooking his best meal, looking good for him, dressing him up to be outstanding, encourage him, believes in him and trusts him. when her husband brings suggestions/ideas, b'cos she knows that he loves her and has considered her before making that suggestion, she readily supports him and stand by him. a loved woman that doesn't submit has a problem and a husband that is expecting his wife to submit witout loving her unconditionally has a problem and is looking for a glorified slave. have a splendid day

Bukatyne you are right on point, well said.....

Romance / He Loves Me And Wants To Marry Me But Mixes Tenses. What Do I Do? by pepperliny(f): 1:37pm On Jun 15, 2012
We have been very good friends for about three years now and he is such a nice person, very hardworking too with a self-employed business that pays his bills. now he wants to take the friendship to another level but the snag there is that he mixes his tenses and is not very fluent with English, though he is a part time graduate.i correct him once in a while because i don't want to trample on his ego and u know how men can be sometimes,he might later think am trying to be a control freak. He is very caring and doting though a good man. i have dated some other guys in the past who have got "swag" but they are not as caring and doting as this one and the kind of family i come from is one that is so particular about the way people speak. i think this all goes to show that there is no perfect being. what do u guys think cos i don't know how am going to present him to my family and friends with his tenses on the long run? i do like him a lot anyway and he loves me very much. pls what do u advice?
