I have read through this thread from start to the end. It was quite informative and inspiring, you guys are doing a good job. I really want to make a little enquiry about a particular Skill occupation called Forester. I discovered that assessment is through Vetasses. What do you think is the required point to get a positive assesment? With a profile of at least one year experience with Forestry research institute of Nigeria (Frin) as a research assistant and a degree and master in Forestry from FUTA. Thank you very much for your concern. |

[quote author=Austinpee4 post=52612596] You seem to have a good advantage and a strong chance of getting a study permit approval with all you outlined here. However, You must first secure admission for your intended program. Good a thing you are already thinking ahead. 1.Including your previous Msc in your application can be to ur advantage or not. If you eventually gain admission into the same chemical engineering for the second master, conviencing the VO maybe difficult becos you have one already in that area and have mentioned it. If you choose to go for a branch in your field or a closely related area in your field which i can see you are opting for, this could fly as you can explain in your SOP your interest in that area and it's significance to you moving forward but this will always be substantiated with previous activity (s) in that area.(Work experience, research). 2. You know what you've been engaging yourself with since you left the job in 2014, You can relate it to your profession or better still, research interest. If you choose not to include your previous msc in your application, all the gaps prior now must be explained and tend towards a need to upgrade academically. 3.Your schoolarship apparently covers pretty much everything and i want to believe it's for the entire duration of your program. But the inconsistencies surrounding remitting of funds for nigerian students on schoolarships have been often seen and i also believe the VO are aware of this, if you can have the agency pay your tuition, accomodation before you apply for your study permit, it should boost your chances. All the best to you. Thanks Austinpee4, u are a great guy. I am still expecting more responses from the house |

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Obtaining Msc Only Increases Your Hope Of Getting A Job by perrychemical: 9:19pm On Aug 12, 2016 |
I took my time to read all the comments in this thread, and I can say categorically that Nigerian graduates are lopsided in their thinking. If you obtain a higher degree based on your own personal development, it is highly worthwhile. We should not forget the fact that the development of this county depends solely on the availability of cutting edge research and innovation tending toward solving potential problems. When a graduate of Elect/ Electronic Engineering was boasting of installing a CCTV camera as a skill to earn a living is totally illogical, because as an Engineer, you are not meant to install, but to create a process and system that will tackle emerging problems. Dangote is building refinery, I am wondering how many equipment will be designed and manufactured in Nigeria? As a Chemical Engineer, all what you were taught during your undergraduate cannot in anyway take you more than the level of switching on and switching off a machinery design by somebody in an environment that appreciate the important of Technology. We are a graduate does not implied that we should confine ourselves only to Nigeria environment, I have some colleagues that we graduated together, they all went for Msc degree immediately after our degree, i can tell you, most of them can compete with any graduate favorably from anywhere in the world. They worked as an expatriate for multinational organization, like Fmc Technology in Netherlands,Chevron in USA, shell International and many more. While most of us that took a career in the banking industry are presently regretting our decisions. For your information, not all of them did their Postgraduate outside the country I have seen a lot in the journey of life, If you know what you are doing, and you are focused, you can become an important personnel in any multinational organization, of course, I am not talking of switching on and off of machinery mentality of most Nigerian graduates. Please if you see any graduate who is curious and scrupulous to identify opportunity in graduate study, it is an highly rewarding decision. I am of the school of thought that, if Nigerian graduates are having this kind of lopsided mentality,we may not be able to reach any level of development in the next decade, and we will continue to import technology for the rest of our lifetime. Please, if you are convince, postgraduate study that is tending toward contributing to a better understanding will be better off for our emerging economy. Thanks, Olubukola 3 Likes |

Business / Re: Ifeanyi Ubah: 'I Can Bring The US-Dollar To N200 In One Month' by perrychemical: 11:26pm On Feb 22, 2016 |
stancydg:I can categorically say Ubah doesn't have any novel idea on how to run an economy, because he has not shown any interest in contributing to the real sector of the economy. This problem of ours has been there from the time immemorial, it was made obivious by the drastic fall in crude oil prices. There is no any miracle somewhere. Ubah statement can be liken to a design Engineer that was building a bridge. Instead of the Engineer to make necessary design b4 the construction phase of d project. He failed to calculate truses that will give the bridge structural strength. He just assumed and comes to a conclusion. I can tell u such a bridge will collapse. Ubah should tell us in a simple economy term how he wanted to stabilise naira at the rate he mentioned. We have people that have a clear understanding in Naija, they can analyse and see the possibility. If he fails to do that, his solution doesn't have a basis and it can never be sustained. Moreover, I am just being hopefu that the price of crude peak in the international market, and Nigeria should plan to start exploring other area of the economy. At least increase in oil price will definitely brings a succour, but is not actually a sustained solution. This problem is an indication that we need to develop infrasctructure for business to thrive in Naija. We need good road, electricity, water etc. We can't under estimate important of science and technology, innovations that will help industry to thrived locally. All these will strengthen naira and less importation will be feasible. It is only when we have all these in place, we can start talking of having a competitive economy.Naira can be roughly d same with dollar. All these take a lot of time to achieve.Government needs to be strategic and plans for the present and future. Tell me what Ubah has been doing all these while, since he has d fastest approach to make our economy competitive. I can tell u, this man doesn't know what he was saying. He was just fortunate to hit billions probably through dubious means and he was wise enough to invest that money, not even in the real sector of Nigeria economy. Please help me tell this man to shut up, because he doesn't know anything. If it was dangote saying this, I would have listen to him. 1 Like |

[quote author=movingforward post=43153252]this is what i call an educated illiterate conclusion, you mean apart from oil there is no other way to solve this pressing issue?so we will have to wait until the west decide on how much to buy our oil, before we can do business ?all i see in your writes up's are oil this oil that, with a heavy heart i pity your parent's that suffered to train you as an economist, because the conclusion of your useless theory or ideology is that we should just wait,no other option than to wait ,until our almighty master's decide,Oga we need all hand's on the table to tackle this issue,if mr Ub a or whatever he call's himself claim to have the perfect wisdom to run the matter and even ask for just one month to fix it,why not try him ?instead you sit in your office n type rubbish and jump into conclusion,if europe is in currency trouble and someone demanded to be consulted to give a solution, they will swallow there pride and consult the person, even from What does Ubah knows about economy. Most of them feed at the expense of the poor. I don't believe any of these so called Cabal. They built an empire that can't sustain them, because any business been run without clear accountability will not stand the test of time.Ifeanyi Ubah was just saying rubish. Is Ifeanyi Ubah not in Nigeria in the last 5years, when the last administration was paying trillion of naira on subsidy.Refinery is not working, does he make any meaginful contribution in building a refinery, by so doing he would have reduced pressure on dollar. If it was Dangote saying this, I would have listen to him, because he has contributed extensively in the real economy. This Ifeanyi Ubah of a thing should just shup up, because we all know he is oneof the cabas that benefitted from the subsidy scam, and he will never support growth of the real economy. 2 Likes |

Mboi:Are u serious with what u said here. Talk is cheap. It can only take spiritual power for Ubah to reduce pressure on dollar demand overnight. This is a problem that has been there over d years. The immediate solution to this problem is for the price of crude to peak up and government plan on the long term to diversify. |

divide9ja:The economic reality is that the problem we found ourselves presently has been there for a very long, it was not obvious becos of the economic prosperity in the oil and gas industry. We are passing through this not becos of Buhar based on my own economic understanding, if we have any development in the last administration, not sure of the sustainability. Fayose should just keep shut and allow this man to strategise. Of course, with the present dwindling oil price, and shortage in our foreign reserved, inflation is bound to happen becos of overdependent on foreign goods. We should all know that we are not printing dollar in Nigeria, Buhari is just being careful not to drain the whole reserved. |

Realist2: Nigerians are blindfolded by their inablity to have a common reasoning. We are runing an economy that is not sustaining, that was what Buhari predecessors did. Business / Re: Nigeria’s Oil Fields Face Shutdown Amid Price Slump by perrychemical: 10:50am On Jan 19, 2016 |
ShowYourCertificate:It is quite unfortunate that we have a good leader at this period of falling in crude oil price. One question I kept on asking myself is when are we going to be matured politically in this country. Our clueless, educated PhD holder's president was not magnanimous with our economy, he had all the money to throw around, but could not add any sustainable growth to our economy. He ended up in reducing our foreign reserved that would have been useful in this hash economic condition we found ourself. I wondered why Jonathan could not contribute anything to our reserved, despite oil price was at all record high during his administration. It is not a rocket science, this administration is actually suffering from the economic mismanagement during Jonathan. PMB has the will to develops our institution, but the resources available required proper management. This of course will take time before they can get it right. Running an import dependent economy with alreadydepleting foreign reserved and serious fall in the price of crude will definitely put much pressure on naira. |
