I'm in the energy sector too and the effect on climate change is on us all, It's not a natural occuring phenomenon it's man induced.
Is that the respond he would've give if he was asked questions about climate change in the UNGA. If like you said there's politics behind climate change then tinubu don't understand the politics.

This is more political. We have to develop before we can be talking of climate change. Do you know anything about National Determined Contribution(NDS). My point is BAT is absolutely correct, because our emission per capital is pretty low.
If you care to know, check this; https://www.worldometers.info/co2-emissions/co2-emissions-per-capita/. This implies a lot.

Climate change is a major national issue in Nigeria now.
Fulani farmers clash that gave rise to bandits is because of rapid desertification in the North, which is pushing more herdsmen southward. Everyone is suffering it now.
You don't need Western money to encourage afforestation and invest in cheaper energy sources. Gas availability and affordability alone can help curb the use of firewood by 90%.
Poorer countries like Rwanda and Namibia are making efforts at investing in green energy to reduce climate change.

Let's stop making mockery of ourselves in the name of tribalism and religious affiliation.
He simply goofed with the answer.
BTW there no connection between something holy and poison.
If it's poisoned then it's not holy. BAT is suffering from dementia and no amount of propaganda can erase that fact

Please go and read the more. Forget about climate policy in Nigeria.

It is for the benefit of the west, not for us. We contribute nothing. Up Nepa alone is even enough to reduce our contribution. Climate change for Africa is a scam. We all know is a global issue, but we are not contributing.

Do not say it outside. Those of us in the energy sector knows all these things. Tinubu understands the politics behind climate change. The man has a deeper understanding of issues. This is the best answer!!!. I had personally gave my opinion about this issue long time ago. In fact, the question is what was the C02 emission per capital in Nigeria?

You and folks like you are the ones embarrassing yourself with poor understanding of the subject of discussion. Tinubu gave a very strong and brilliant answer to the question. His analogy of the poor church rat (Nigeria) and the poisoned communion (climate change) was spot on.

The fact that he’s even willing to stand up to the west to guarantee our finances before any climate change talk says a lot about his understanding of the matter. We need all the damn fossil fuel for forex, electricity and rapid industrialization. Tinubu is simply saying Climate change is a poisoned food we can’t afford to eat because we are hungry. A very deep and brilliant response if you understand what is at stake.

God bless you my brother. Most of the resposnes, I have listened to regarding climate change, this is the most accurate, and practical response from any of the presidential candidates.

They produce car and make it very expensive . The average man in this country can not afford new car and he must use car he doesn’t have alternative than to get tokubo, within 2years tokubo will release smoke. The westerners have turn Africa to dropping site and they are preaching climate change in that same area come on guy reason how possible?

Just like Buhari, always looking to the west for money. He will borrow more than buhari for consumption.

This is why Nigeria needs Peter Obi now.

So if the West does not give you money, you will not know that deforestation is not healthy?

And I have noticed that tinubu always uses church to make jokes.

He said if buhari chose the pope as running mate he wont win.

Said speaking in tongues was inherited from Bible.

Now church rat and holy communion.

Can't he use Muslim Koran for illustration and jokes.

If they don't give us money, we will cut all our trees and use it for firewood. What a daft response.

No wonder he advised this government to print more money and they did. Today, inflation is 17years high.

What did u say this man did in lagos again?
This is the best practical response I have heard from any presidential candidate contesting this election. Forget about this theory of a climate change. Africa must explored all the available technology to develop their industries . We must first develop, pollute, before we can start depolution. Gbam!!!. I like this response. Tinubu is very right on this and here’s why:

According to the United Nations Environment Programme, the entire continent of Africa contributes 2 to 3% of global green house emissions. By contrast, China and America collectively contribute over 40% of the global green house emissions. Nigeria, the largest country in Africa by population contributes less than 1% of global green house emissions. Working on decreasing our carbon emissions is important but even if we decrease it completely, it would have very little to no impact on climate change because we account for less than 1% of emissions.

The China, US, Japan, Brazil, Russia, Canada and Germany account for most of the green house emissions in the world. They need to implement policies to curb their emissions before we can see significant change globally and even then, it'd take years for the changes to become apparent. I do not like Tinubu either but on this point I agree with his sentiment. The burden of change is on the West and not Africa, talk less of Nigeria. Our president should be focused on the issues that affect the everyday life of an average Nigerian.

Building infrastructures, developing strong economic policies, strengthening our financial institutions, tackling insecurity etc. Those should carry far more priority than climate change.

I totally agreed with this. The best response so far. See, 100percent correct.

I am a christian, and I think it is inconsequential the religion of a presidential candidate and its vice. One think I like Tinubu for is his unconventional thinking. In the history of Nigeria, and under the present political arrangement, it will always be an issue wherever we have
a southener muslim as a leading presidential candidate. The insecurity we are having in Nigeria, kidnapping, and all sorts of social vices are not connected to whelter the president is a muslim or christian. Boko Haram started when we had christian as the president. Please, we need to be objective, and stop this religion talk when it comes to politics. They are not in anyway related.

this is real serious. so if tinubu have no genuine educational certificates, how was he able to manipulate the system to became a governor in 1999-2007. and even recently this same endemic corrupt system also cleared him to emerge as the APC flag bearer for next year 's election ?
if all these serious allegations had been in public domain, for decades, why was he not investigated and disqualified by the system ? so sad that APC had a viable alternative to tinubu, in the person of a well know professor yemi Osinbajo, but because of the detects of the stomach, the corrupt delegates opted for a man of questionable character.
but despite tinubu's awful baggages, i still prefer him to Atiku, because Nigeria as a nation may not survive another 8yrs of northern misrule.
presently, peter obi remain the best viable option for Nigeria to genuinely move forward in the right direction, but will this same corrupt system allow that to manifest ?

Please, I do not think, it is necessaery to continue this baseless discussion. How do you think it will be possible for him to work in the international companies? In fact, as long as he has higher degree, the issue of primary and secondary certificates do not arises. I have been working abroad for few years, they have never asked for my certificates. But, if Tinubu did not get University degree,it will be absolutely impossible to move far in the corporate world. As far as I am concern, his exposures, foreign education, and track record does not even warrant talking about certificates or no certificates, it was obvious he works in a corporate environment.

Speaking of logic, I will break it down for you incase you did not get the logic:

1. Age should not be a criteria for good governance.
2. The present president is old and performed poorly, part of which was age related.Therefore....
3. I will not be voting for a presidential candidate who has passed a certain age threshold.
That is logic. Chew on it.

But based on your response, is there any logic ? Should we just try and go academic a little. Don't you think your conclusion could be biased because you do not have enough evidence. Is there anywhere in philosophy or science to prove what you are saying? Or we could use available datas.

well, I agree with you that you cannot juxtapose age and make it a yardstick for good governance or performance and I totally agree with you that Buhari, even younger, would not have been different from what he currently is. But now, those metrics, are not in favor of Tinubu which is the age. It would be safe to say that part of Buhari's ailment was as a result of his old age. He spent alot of time outside the country treating himself for sicknesses when he could have been working. Its just like discarding the criminal record of an applicant for a job just because you think that he has the right skills for said job. You will just not get the job based on other metrics no matter how excellent and in your favor other areas of strength are. The compendium of criteria we are utilizing to evaluate candidates, one factor could be more important that others to different people and for me, his age is the most important factor. This is how I feel about Tinubu's candidature.

I can understand you. But when you argue like this, it will be difficult to follow you logically. I am not a politician, and I have no interest in analysis of social political issues at hand. Be that at may, you have to be able to convince people, and yourseves after you must have done your own analysis based on datas . It is quite unfortunate peole do not use datas to make decision, especially in Nigeria.

If he failed in governing small Anambra State, how will he govern Nigeria without failing again?

Peter Obi is a puppet, he does not know how to play politics in a diversify and complicated society like Nigeria. In fact, if you are thinking that Peter obi can fix Nigeria is a day dreaming. In fact, there are dream that can never come to reality. He was not been realistic with himselves, so I believe he was just a joker. The fact that he has not even carefully study how things work in Nigeria is an indication of how bad his government will be if by chance he was given the opportunity to serve as a president.

Campaign has not even started, they have started saying rubish they cannot achieve in their lifetime. Let us be realistic with ourselves, I do not believe in some of this politicians who were jumping from one political parties to anothers, they do not have values, and it will be difficult to trust their antecident. All what played out last month was an internal politics, and for me I do not expect Tinubu to roll out his program yet at that time.

What I think would be appropriate this time around was to allow all candidates to involve in a serious debate, though I am sure that would not also be a determinant as who wins election in Nigeria, but I believe is a step ahead.

To be honest with you all, and I do hope that you see my argument from my point of view. Tinubu had many things that went well for him given that from 1999 he was the first governor to handle Lagos after a long military regime. Lagos has always been the centre of excellence, anyday and anytime. You need to be someone like Buhari to not make anything good in the 8years you handle a state like Lagos, now using buhari as a comparison is the worst case scenario. Tinubu also had the privilege of being in opposition that did very well after pdp. Infact, he single handedly carried AD to the point where it is now (APC), as much as you see it as a disadvantage this helped him become much more powerful and influential in his own right. Tinubu is a shrewd politician and i agree with that. But were you living in Lagos when Tinubu was governor, did you also live in Lagos when Fashola was governor? If so, you will agree with me that in terms of development, Tinubu did not do much for lagos as compared to his successor Fashola, as far as the visibility rather than the actual physicality of the work that was done in their combined 16years. This could have been for many reasons. one of which I would deduce is the fact that he (Tinubu) probably laid the ground work on what other governors after him ran on, he was also able to control (which was big to his advantage) the choice and selection after him for over 20+ years.

Its easier to see the pain points of others from outside the circle, rather than when you are in it, and especially, when you have the machinery to control it, you can swing the tides your way (which I believe, is what he "Tinubu" did). With that being said, Tinubu under different conditions, such as his age, may have been the best fit for a president given his influence, power and wealth of experience but, I will say, we do not want another Buhari in power. we should not deceive ourselves, Tinubu is way older than how old he claims to be. For this reason alone (his age), I am not supporting him. Nigeria is at a time now where we need someone who will hit the ground running, is not slow, can be at multiple meetings in a short span, will be physically present and to be honest, Tinubu is not that person. We cannot have another 8years of someone that will behave like Buhari in terms of health status. Also, if I was to choose between the two top contenders, I would have gone for an Atiku because he is an inclusive person, he looks physically healthy than Tinubu and also has experience and businesses which semi-automatically translate to the fact that he will be able to manage an economy well.

Then again, if you look at the other spectrum, why will someone want to even vote the both of them in the first place when there is someone much younger, also has a good track record as a former governor, is intellectually sound like the others, able to hit the ground running and has already given snippets of what he can do to move the economy forward which revolves around cutting waste, and increasing production, getting people out of poverty which i think is a good way in a sense to solve many of the issues we are facing today. first of all, these earlier mentioned themes are encompassing because they have sub-themes embedded in them. First off, how do you increase production. This means that you will have to work on the factors of production, Land, Capital, Labor and Entrepreneurship. They also have their sub-themes and the depth goes on and on, and you will need to tackle all these sub-themes before you can say yes, you increased production. You cannot increase production without fixing electricity, you also cannot increase production without working on the distribution channels which also has to do with how those goods get to where they get to. This means that transportation, roads, storage has to be fixed.

I am just giving you a snippet to how these things actually work and work well for you to say yes by tackling these, you increased production, got people out of poverty and also increased the capacity and earnings of the economy you are governing. This is the reason I prefer a Peter Obi because I do believe he is sound, has a clear statement of purpose, and will also check the factors that has been a topic of discussion for a long time now, a SE presidency (it is only fair that we see what SE can do at the helm of affairs. It can never be half as bad as the present administration) , a Christian (a Northern muslim just did his 8years) and a much younger presidential candidature.

I like your write up to some extend, but I do not believe an individual can run a government. You cannot compare Buhari with Tinubu, even at old age. I can tell you, if Buhari is much more younger, I do not see him performing better than now. You cannot make an objective decision between performance and age based on that comparism . I think, young people in Nigeria need to be more deep in their thinking faculty.

In fact,Buhari of Military government who was much more younger is of no different to Buhari that is now older. Experience has showned that, your past will always influence your present performance. Nigeria, been a dynamic country, with diverse culture and religion orientation required someone who has been detrabalised to rule Nigeria at this point. Despite Yar Ardua health challenges, he was still the best president we had in Nigeria.

Yes bro. This confirms why I said O-level results were not used in the current arrangement of the shortlisted candidates. There are some intricate and nuanced considerations involved which we don't fully know yet.

I can confirm to you that O'level plays a significant factor in shorlisting candidates. I am also a past schorlar, but I got PTDF the period they normally conduct test to select Msc awardee. I have subsequently tried and encoraged my younger brother who had a very good grade in his first degree, but most of his O' level subjects were C, in fact he got mostly C5 and C6, and he was not shortlisted for all the three time he tried. But my wife has attemped twice in the year 2018, and this year included with second class lower division, 4A1 including Maths and English, B3 in one subject , 5 publications and many awards. She was always shortlisted. I am very sure she could not get the schorlaship in the year 2018, because she was told her proposal was not related to Oil and Gas. This year, she did her interview in Ibadan, with the same proposal, you can imagine even after the interview, they had to call her back to collect her number. she was also asked if she knows someone at PTDF. So, you can see that her O'level result alone is very tight even though she got 2:2, and of course her Msc was a merit.

I always laugh about many small boys on this platform. Who told you that Osibanjo was a better candidate than Tinubu?Do you think it is by speaken grammar, dy/dx, having a saint uncorruptible mentality or algerbral that make a good president? It is in fact now that I believe Nigeria can still be a great country. Tinubu will be by far a better President than any president in Nigeria history if he is succesful in the next year election. Many people in Nigeria are blinded by been a religion bigot who cannot analyse issues objectively, so because Tinubu is rich, and a muslim made him a bad person.

You can all see your Mr. integrity for the past 7 seven years, including your Pastor Osibanjo, what have they able to achieve ? In fact, if Osibanjo should be a flag bearer and win the presidential election, his regime will be very worst. The best thing we need in Nigeria right now is Tinubu. He is a serious person, and be assured that Tinubu is a strategist, political liberator, and you might have to sit back and see what will be unfolded if he wins next year.

As a youth, we have to be able to see the possibility in Nigeria by been objective in our analysis, and not reason like some people that think that they can win election from their pastoral pupilt, and from the Imam perspective. Most of them do not have democratic values, jumping from one political party to another. I respect someone who waited patiently to build people around him, and knows when it would be possible to govern Nigeria. It is definitely more than religion, and ethinicism.
