If your are good in programming you will have a job immediately sef . If not, if you still want to stick with the physics Then u certainly must love-vendor it with a masters degree in Say condensed matter like Dr Adedayo in your department .If u need any more advice halla me at .I will send u my phone number then we can talk.

I thanks all the poster who have encouraged me on my path.I think I will stick with it for another 2 to 3 month. I Have already being exploring other areas of IT.I started a cisco Weekend class and I have been reading my Unix pretty hard.I guess I am just going to compare and see how it all goes as for the guys who volunteered to help me in my programming endeavor .I will mail u guys.

I have been working on c#, Entity Framework and wcf for the past 2months.

Mistake choosing my first JOb


I am working for a great computer programming company here in nigeria.I started two months ago.THough I studied physics I was given a chance to prove my self in programming.I Loved the little I used to do while i was in school but now after like two month I fell like hell My head pounds during work and I get scared like shit.I am not even producing good code.The thing seems very stressful.

Please guys I am thinking of quitting with my integrity intact before one boss starts shouting Useless on me.I am confused should I quit.I feel like I should switch to networking by attending at least a three month course.

NB A friend help me get this job actually and he said if i should quit within 2 months I will look like I cam to siphon some cash and run and also It will give him a bad name in the company since I entered through his recommendation.

Guy what should i do .Should I quit and just change careers?

I recently got a placement in a company that I have been dreaming to work in though the pay is not good at all but the experience i am gaining is good.I am thinking should i resign inn 6 months time and gop for my Masters here in Nigeria or Just work for a year or two then go back to school. I have heard people say it is not easy going back to school when u have started working.

NB I just got discharged in Feb 2009

I have read through some of the post and people have problems with client/server model kind of a thing.

Wanna run networked environment on your system

I have a Toshiba laptop with Amd tutrion 2ghz clock speed and a 2gb ram

I run Ubuntu Linux and I virtualized Windows Xp(2),Redhat Linux(2) and Solaris (2)

To do this readmore about VirtualBox or you can use Vmware though I heard it hangs But VBox 2.1 is a really good way to network a system in your system.

You don't need 10 systems to work on your networking skills all you need is just one system.

I will love to know how to set up a full FTP server on the linux system.I have VSTFP installed aand running but i don't even know how to go about it .Help appreciated.I am running 2 Redhat Enterprise 3 on virtual Box and 2 win xp box.

I wouldn't mind if i am pointed to a resource.

COncerning those that thinks it is immatured to ask question on this thread.I am only trying to get opinons and I am still got to evaluate it.I am not looking for instructions just opinons with points to back it up.

So far I think i will go with @Magz and @damola1.I guess i will take my chances.I agree with the line never be afraid to make a mistake but i am sure i am not making no mistake.

I wouldn't call this guy a manic some users are just pathetic after they you set the quota with company policy and give them soft limits and ignoring the hard limits thinking they are human .That if they log on to the server and see the message hard disk full grace period 6days .They still persist and load more file .Those set of people deserve to get their file removed. BUt the maniac should add the USERS name before this.WIPE THEM OUT CLEAN.AHAHAHA!

FOr those who might bot understand what FBS has writtern a litlle explanantion beloow
1. first change directory to /home (cd /home).

2. rm -rf--------remove recurciverly and force removal of file in the execeution of 'xxxxxxxx '
3.du -s * give disk usage of all
4.sort -rn -- sort the files by reverse order from highest to lowest
5. head . take only the highest
6. then print the 3rd column of the result but I THINK THIS OUGHT TO BE $0

Whimisical i cannot believe people still use mac filtering inthis modern days. Have you heard of macchanger.I can change the mac address of my linux box easily thereby hacking your wireless.

Try using a wep pack encryption on your wireless router though they say WPA is good all can be cracked .Just use a very strong passowrd so that aircrack-ng will be powerless against it.Use a 128bit wep key and it take like 4 hours or so to break

Password like ilin36mstr0982hy. A dictonary attack on this is impossible but not undoable.

Concerning starting linux you can request a free CD from shipit through ubuntu website it is a good distro.Also you can lay you hand on fedora 9 which they give out to the first 100 people every month. Get a book like linux a beginners guide.

I duf my hat for all of you guys.But i wish I could be A Sys Admin.I have been reading like hell on being a linux admin on the debian and redhat system .But microsoft technology I have not had the time . .I think linux will definately be better than microsoft in a matter of time.


Where do you guys think one can start for microsft TEchnology.Does getting a degree matter in being a good sys admin. in the main time i am enjoying my linux. , awk -f '{print $0}{print 'peace out'}';

Sometime when i think of it I feel like running away and just school earn a PhD and make some doe and also enjoy life with freedom.The pressure is mounting everyday to the extent that they are now fixing dates for me immediately i get a job.I know i have the final decision but this kind of decision is hard.What do you gut suggest Cry
