I Stand Against The Total Closure Of Worship Center by Pastorayojide(f): 10:46pm
I am here to speak out my own opinion and stand, I don't mind what critics will say or reply. This season when the economy is failing, when there is an epidemic of coronavirus, is when we need God the more. We need cooporate prayers more than ever. Our spiritual father's should please address this issue speedly. If market can be opened from 10am to 2 pm, then church under supervised hygiene control can also be open. Market is not gatted but most churches are gatted. Most churches in nigeria don't attract the crowd market does.
Christian this is a wake up call for us to speak up and also pray against every gate of hell towards the church. GOD AND THE CHURCH IS STILL THE SOLUTION TO ALL THIS PANDEMIC. Even if some critic will say that some church are not on the rigth track but we still have churches that are of God and christians that are genuine. CHRISTIANS AWAKE SPEAK UP AND PRAY. THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PERSONAL AND CORPORATE PRAYER. WE NEED CORPORATE PRAYER IN NIGERIA RIGHT NOW.
this is very irresponsible of you

Honestly, Nigeria's governments are just being too optimistic. Coronavirus won't stop spreading in just 2 weeks. Many advanced countries have being battling this virus for months and there is no end in sight yet.

Do Nigeria's governments think that the spread of the coronavirus virus will be stopped after just 2 weeks stay at home? They only succeeded in slowing the spread and not eliminating the inevitable.

After the two weeks stay at home and the virus hasn't been curtained, will they extend it for another 2 weeks?

Will the hungry daily income earners agree to stay at home for another two weeks and go hungry with his family?
Even those that have money, will they be able to see food to buy after states have been cut away from the food supply chain?
i don't think lock down is about stopping the spread, lockdown is about slowing down the spread because the lower the cases we have the better we can manage and reduce mortality rate. Increase the cases of coronavirus in Nigeria to say 10,000 over night (and this will happen if people continue to disregard lockdown) and watch the numbers of people that will die. Believe it will be very difficult for our economy to recover if we suddenly lost a considerable number of people

XXLDICK:
This is my suggestion on how this Corona virus issue should be handled.

Honestly, I don't think the way the government has chosen to handle this pandemic outbreak is right for a third world country like Nigeria.

Using Lagos as a case study, commercial vehicles are prohibited from plying the roads but hospitals and people selling foodstuffs are allowed to operate. How can an average foodstuff seller be able to convey herself and goods to and fro the market as she doesn't own a private car? My sister is a nurse, but she's at home because she doesn't own a car either. This issue has rendered many hospitals incapacitated as most nurses are underpaid hence can't afford a car. Considering this is the period we need the hospitals most...
I think the government or the hospital can do something this like providing transportation for the essential service providers

Many states have closed their borders completely. Thereby cutting supply of food between states especially from North to South.

The majority of Nigerians eat from hand to mouth. Nigerians give birth to many children and they depend on their daily income to feed their large families. Would they agree to stay at home after they and their children have nothing to eat?
I think the government can still do something concerning the movement of food within states, while not putting the life of thousands of people at risk.

Crude oil which Nigeria depends almost solely on has taken a nose-dive in value thereby truncating our economy and we have decided to destroy whatever is left of our economy by shutting it down completely.

Why should Nigeria copy first world countries that could afford to pay and feed their citizens to stay indoors when Nigeria can't afford same?

I don't need to talk about the adverse effects we are likely to face by these decisions such as; robbery, anarchy, hunger, bad economy... Remember the poor are the majority in Nigeria. I don't want to talk about not having the facilities to test enough people which as a result poor people are not being tested and it's effects.

My suggestion;

Let the government lift every ban on people operating their businesses and movement.

Why?

The Covid-19 has no cure, it's a war of life and death between your immune system and the virus. The fastest way to get done with a pandemic like this is herd immunity.

It's been proven that once you contract the virus and you recover, you'll become immune to it. When the number of immune people increase, they will shield the people that are not immune to it. That's what herd immunity is all about.

Read about herd immunity to understand me better.

Self isolation should be optional and not imposed. Old people and those who have underlying health issues which are likely to be vulnerable to the virus leading to fatality should be advised to self quarantine. It shouldn't be imposed on people like us who are actually more scared of hunger than the virus.

If my suggestion be taken, there'll be less stress on the economy and the virus won't exceed two months. In my opinion, with the restrictions, the virus spread will be slower and can last up to six months.

Caveat;
I am not a medical practitioner, I am just Naijason Ezeiru, a rational thinker and I always think outside the box. This is just my opinion and it's open to debate, criticism or abuses. Whichever one is welcome.
Thank God you said you are not a doctor because this your advise will result in the death of a lot of people, imagine your whole family members, is there one person you won't mind dieing in the next few month? I just hope you don't have anyone in mind because this is what will happen to a lot of Nigerians if your advise is follow. I am not an economist but a country where thousands of people people are dieing daily from a pandemic i don't think that country will have a good economy

BoboNkiti19:

Let me address your points accordingly.

On the first paragraph you talked about your IQ, and much to your credit admitted you don't know your IQ metric... so I'll just candidly put it to you with every unreserved sense of certainty that you sure do have a negligibly low IQ. For one you confidently revel in reeling out outlandish assertions and posit them as facts, that alone exposes your ignorance, even your attempt at modesty can't hide how grossly uninformed you are.

My assertions are not outlandish, I have merely restated what your people are fond of saying on nairaland. There is no way that you can be certain that my IQ is actually low, you claim up there that I am making outlandish assertion (which they are not) yet you are saying something you can't be sure of (my IQ) , which the only way to be certain is if you actually conducted a test.
Point 1 shows that you are an hypocrite.
Aside, what your IQ?

On your second point, once again you've shown are unintelligent you are, so your basis for concluding that "my people are always claiming to have a lot of money, and are better than the rest of you blah blah blah...." is because of what you culled from Nairaland? I mean for one these is a faceless forum where anybody can say anything they want, whether what is said or claimed is replete or devoid with/of facts is another thesis, we both know nairaland is a cesspool of ethnic e-wars especially between Igbos and Yorubas, and both sides have said and claimed to be better than the other... so why single out what "my people said or claimed"?... what about what YOUR own people have said?

Here you are again claiming I am unintelligent; that is your assessment not the assessment of the senate of my university when they issued me my certificate. There are thousands of post on nairaland here made my your people supporting my assessment and assertion, when there is avaliablility of abundant data that points in a certain direction i.e boosting of your people, there is nothing wrong if I say that this is what they are saying because it's true, it's what's they are saying. You asked why I singled out your people? Well your people are the subject of this thread.

You claim " my people" increased the prize of hand sanitizers in the aftermath of the pandemic outbreak, mind mentioning with verifiable facts which people did this? And even if that were the case, is that an ideal metric to allude that every single Igbo person is now dishonest on the basis of what a single business organization or group of people did? a business is a profit run outfit... and the prerogatives of how such business organization wants to sell its product is entirely their decision.

Ebano supermarket sold hand sanitizer for 29000. Since it has been established that, that is the case its true we can not use the actions of one or two people to conclude that your people are dishonest, but then we can be sure of two things
*Ebano Supermarket was dishonest selling hand sanitizer for 29000
*Since you see nothing wrong with selling hand sanitizer 29000 during a pandemic you are not different from them
We can conclude that but you and Ebano Supermarket value profit over human life.
This same trend is the one we see all the time from baby factories to fake drugs and now people talk about Aba made reproductions of original products without license or proper registrations yet you are fuming in the mouth when I point out that obvious (you people value profit over human life as the Hausa value cows over human life)

There shouldn't be any reason for moral calls here... maybe you should hold your government accountable for not providing the means and social welfare opportunities for the suffering Nigerian masses in the first place. What about the other Igbos that have massively contributed to fight against the pandemic situation?

The op at the start of the thread was wondering out loud, you should know am happy that there are igbos contributing to fight this pandemic. I am able to sleep well at night now.

And please provide me with your facts that my people due to dishonesty have contributed to more people dying... do you even know how stupid you sound?

I know your brain is clouded by hatred but since you have a very big IQ you should at least check and understand what I wrote. I never said it has contributed, what I said was that, it will contribute i.e if it had continued. I don't think those two sentences are the same

Dude your problem is that besides having a pitiably low IQ, you have further dented any little credibility and cognitive reasoning you had left with your baseless postulations and bigotry, I mean your proclivity for stereotyping a whole ethnic group without even fact-checking your assertions like the ignorant OP highlights how daft you are, and I consider any further arguments with you a complete waste of my time honestly, have yourself a good day mate.
You claim am a bigot to try and spite me because you think being a bigot is a bad yet you are happy to throw around words like "Afonja", "Cone Head". Just imagine the irony? (except you want to be delusional) . My postulations weren't baseless I was merely restating what you people are always saying here; nothing wrong with that if you ask me. Stereotyping doesn't equate to daftness, you are the one with the big IQ here you should know

To be frank with you I don't know my IQ, but then I am able to point out inconsistencies is your thinking even though you have the "bigger IQ"

firstly why should I be engaging myself in some pointless discourse over who donates or not when millions of people are dying to a terrible pandemic? which sane person even thinks of attacking another ethnic group (of all problems the world is facing right now), only a subhumanic Afonja pig will rack his cone head to reel out some rubbish about Igbos not donating to the COVID19 cause, when the facts say otherwise (it has now be proven that the highest contributions from the so called list of billionaires were made by mainly Igbos), but why should that matter anyways?

The OP made an observation that was clearly valid as at the time he made it; and its a fair one if you ask me.
You guys are always claiming you have a lot of money and you are better than the rest of us but then when a virus that threatens our way of life surfaces your kind increased the price of hand sanitizers by thousands of percent.
You claim we shouldn't be be talking about who is donating or not, since people are dieing but then you see nothing wrong when your people are engaging in dishonest business practices that will result in more people dieing.

Are you privy to the donations been made or not by millions of Igbos out there? Abi you get records of all the donations wey Igbos make? seriously many of you yoruubas need some serious mental health evaluation cause the way you guys reason makes me wonder if the intelligent ones among you, including the ones I've met aren't frauds either.

You know the reason why we weren't privy to the donations you claimed they made? It is because there was none. Maybe now they are doing something since they see that other are doing something. I hope sha

While at it, instead of hitting your head on the wall over which Igbo man is donating to the pandemic crisis, what donations have you made to assist your family members? community, friends and other loved ones? Let's not worry about others, let's start from you! you Nigerians are really a weird bunch honestly.

millions of Igbos home and abroad are donating in many ways to their immediate states, communities, local governments etc to fight the pandemic... because they are not making noise about it doesn't mean they are not involved in the cause, I don't think any tribe in Nigeria is more philanthropic than the Igbos if we are to be honest here.. even on the short list of billionaires that contributed dollars and naira to the COVID19 cause, the highest contributions that dwarfed the rest were made by Igbos, so what's the fuss about? ... I know it's a daft Afonja that made these silly post, cognitive reasoning even in a pandemic situation isn't really a forte of an Afonja pig so I'm not really surprised, but will it hurt if una try get sense for once? Even at a time when millions are dying globally to a serious pandemic crisis, only a bloody afonja will find time for petty ethnic baiting... there's time for everything SMH.
you are a hypocrite mr man, you say an afonja is doing ethnic battling bla bla bla when people are dieing in a pandemic to show we should be better like you. Yet you are the one that sees nothing wrong with your kinsmen when they increase the price of hand sanitizers thereby causing more deaths just for profit. The ibos worship money we all know that just don't come here and be claiming that your people are better. I am even sure you people are not doing anything to help other ibos.
