1 seem like a waste of time.

2 appears to be imperfect. Producing through casing may negatively impact flowing and wellhead pressure while the remaining two completions sound reasonable.

3; Using three tubings is not a common practice because of the limited size of ID of casing

In my own opinion, I think using two tubings to target two completions and putting the third completion behind sleeve in which you open later when you are through with one of the two completion below.

So for the late response. Next time if its so urgent, please send an email.

Thanks for your contributions. It was helpful

MoyoGENERAL:

Most times we don't use best design but OPTIMUM design for the specific target zones. Having said this, there are so many other factors to consider before selecting which completion strategy to employ to produce the hydrocarbon in the zones.
Cost, available technology, outcome of drilling challenges, HC properties, completion material integrity, etc. Nevertheless, I will try to analyze the 3 different scenario, state there pros and cons.

Single String: This is more or less the best option among the three, offering a more conservative measure towards field development. No much technology is required, cost-wise it's tolerable, however, in the long run, you spend more years producing from the reservoirs, thereby increasing your OPEX over the years, ultimately affecting your NPV. In term of safety, it's better too, cos of less corrosion outside the tubing and inside the casing due fluid production. Aside from all these, most times drilling is plagued with several challenges, where you have to use multiple intermediate casings, hence reducing the ultimate size of tubing to be used for completion, in a case where you've drilled in a troublesome interval( salt, high pressure, swelling shale), the allowance you may have for a tubing may not be up to 5.5 inches. Now imagine putting two 2.375 inches tubing in that with tolerance limits, it is almost impossible and unsafe. In this case the best is a single string( may be 3.5 inches) to deploy and produce the HC.

Dual string: Yes, this is good if less drilling problems were encountered while drilling impacting hole tolerance. Aside from the CaPEX of additional tubings and other surface networks, you tend to recover your HC faster meaning less OPEX in the long run. But to judge from the standpoint of economics, you will still have to consider other factors too like the amount of HC recoverable with the additional costs of the completion materials with there depreciation etc.. However from a rough quick view, this should yield more NPV for a robust reservoir. Nevertheless, the technology here is higher and complexities can abound downhole in terms of materials integrity due to tubing corrosion, more safety issues may abound especially due to pressure build up behind tubing for the reservoir at the top where HC is produced via the casing-tubing annulus, a gas flow can even be more dangerous to the wellhead.

Triple String: 3 tubings! Configuration complex than that of single and dual string. And believe me, the less complex your well, the better! Most Production Technologist will agree. I haven't seen this sha, cos it's not common due to the fact that final hole size after the drilling campaign may not allow such bearing in mind tolerance limits and opportunity to install other download equipments. The safety issue here is the fact that packer integrity will be susceptible to continual compromise, and there is high tendency of underproduction from one of the pay zone. Imagine a pay zone with a good productivity index, no near well bore damage, good permeability even in darcies, yet the maximum tubing size you can use is 2.375 inches just because you want to produce 3 at same time, when sensitivity study is indicating to you that you can increase tubing size and get more production. The key issue here will be the complex production system and difficulty during workovers( when need arises)

You know these are just brisk analysis. As a PTECH, I can choose to use a single 3.5 inches tubing and perform sensitivity analysis to see how well I'll produce in terms of well deliverability, choose an optimum flow rate at each phase during HC production in the different pay zones. This might even be better than using three 2.375 inches tubing differently yet simultaneously to produce from the 3 zones. So aside from all the cost, economics, tech, it's also the work of the P-Tech who will manage his baby all through the (well) lifecycle and see what's best for it.

For me, I'll advice you to to stick with SINGLE String. However it still depend on other factors listed here and even not listed here to ensure robust decisions are made as regard the optimum completion plan.

I hope this helps.

Shalom

Thanks a million. This was great though it came a Lil late. Thanks once again

Please your contributions and suggestions are needed urgently.

A well is to produce from 3 payzones without commingling, which of this completion configuration best fit the design process.
1. Using SINGLE STRING SELECTIVE COMPLETION where the zones are produced one after the other. The bottom produces first to abandonment and is plugged in then the second bottom is open for production and so on.
2. DUAL STRING - TRIZONE COMPLETION where the well produces from two tubings (bottom and second bottom Payzone) while the uppermost zone produces from casing.
3. MULTI-ZONE TRIPLE COMPLETION where the well produces simultaneously from 3 tubings.

Note: the well is to produce without commingling.

Education / Creative Ways To Suck Up Your Lecturers For Extra Marks by petengine(m): 4:15pm On Sep 25, 2016
Sometimes you have to do a little ass kissing to get the grade you want in a class. I hate to admit that, but it is the truth. If a lecturer doesn’t like you from the start, he or she is going to nitpick at your work until you get a bad grade. You need to suck up enough to prevent that from happening. I’m not saying that you have to be a lecturer’s pet to get an A in class, but you should make an effort to connect with the lecturer if you want to have the best chance of getting a good grade.

Here are some tips to help you suck up to your lecturer without being too corny or obvious. The right technique can help you get a good grade every time.

Turn in Your Assignment Early

I know the concept of turning your homework in early is practically unheard of in the procrastinating world that we live in, but it could help you secure a good grade in class. I am the biggest procrastinator of them all, but I found that lecturer gave me a bigger break when I turned in my work first because they reviewed my assignments before they figured out how sh*tty the grading process is. I’m serious! I got to catch them when their minds were fresh and their hearts were forgiving. If you do the same, you will have a much better chance of doing well in your school courses.

Ask Valid Questions

If you present valid questions to the lecturer, he or she will see that you are paying attention in class. That will go a lot further than you may think. All instructors want to see is that they are making a difference in the lives of others. If you are actually comprehending information enough to question it, your professor is going to respect you for the intellectual that you really are. Don’t ask something that is blatantly outlined in the book or the syllabus, but don’t be afraid to ask something important as well. With the right questions at the right times, you are sure to get on your lecturer’s good side.

Participate in Class Discussions

I realize that class discussions aren’t very frequent in some courses, but they do happen every now and then. Some lecturers actually require class discussions and grade students based on their participation in them. If you can weave yourself into the discussion process, your lecturer will have more opportunities to see just how smart you really are. You can use that to your advantage and hopefully milk a good grade out of it. It only takes an extra five or ten minutes to make a few comments on a discussion post, so you don’t need to spend a lot of time trying to make a good impression. You just have to vocalize a little more than you do right now.

Subtle Compliments

If you compliment your professor too much, he or she is going to know that you’re just trying to suck up. If you do this subtly though, you will be able to sweet talk him or her enough to get a good grade. Just send your lecturer an email saying that you have enjoyed the class thus far and that you appreciate the work he or she does. You don’t have to ramble about the lecturer being smarter than Stephen Hawking or better looking than Stephen Tyler. You just have to make him or her feel special. If you can do that successfully, your sucking up will work in your favor every time.

Career / Do You Really Need A Degree When Looking For A Great Job? by petengine(m): 11:17am On Sep 21, 2016
The influence of a degree in the job market, is something that has been seen to act as a ticket towards gaining a better-paying job. For these reasons, students have been striving hard to ensure they leave university with this important document. Luckily, you don’t have to own a degree to get a great paying job today. There are many people who are eating the fruits of their labor by working in jobs that didn’t require a college certificate before they were hired. This should come as a sigh of relief to the thousands of students who subject themselves to rigorous learning so that they may obtain a degree in their respective field.
