SportsRonaldo Could Still Join Barcelona – Figo by PetmaxFlame(op): 4:10pm On Sep 06, 2016
Portugal and Real Madrid legend, Luis Figo, has disclosed that recently crowned Europe player of the year, Cristiano Ronaldo, could still be signed by Barcelona.

Figo moved from Barcelona to Madrid in 2000 and he now feels Ronaldo could do the opposite.

Figo insisted that Barcelona could sign Ronaldo if the Madrid superstar’s release clause is triggered.

Real Madrid paid Luis Figo’s £37.2m buyout clause, which was by then a world record fee for a player to land him from Barcelona, and believes similar move could happen today.

Ronaldo, who was recently crowned Europe’s Best Player for a second time, has a buyout clause in his Madrid contract worth €1.5 billion [£1.25bn] and Figo does not believe a possible switch to Barcelona is off the cards for his countryman.

Foreign AffairsKenya Signs Nuclear Power Partnership Deal With South Korea by PetmaxFlame(op): 4:00pm On Sep 03, 2016
Kenya's plans for nuclear electricity generation by 2027 have received a boost following the signing of a partnership agreement with three top South Korean nuclear power entities.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Kenya Nuclear Electricity Board (KNEB) and the Korea Electric Power Corporation, Korea Nuclear Association for International Cooperation and the KEPCO International Graduate School was witnessed by Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter.

A statement from KNEB states that the partnership deal is expected to "enable Kenya obtain expertise from Korea by way of capacity building, specialized training and skills development, as well as technical support for its nuclear power programme."

It pointed out that in addition, Kenya will obtain firsthand knowledge of South Korea's nuclear power technology.

"This development comes as KNEB is gearing up for feasibility studies to identify suitable locations/potential sites for Kenya's nuclear power plants as well as undertaking reactor technology assessment aimed at settling on the best option in terms of nuclear power plant model," it stated.

Kenya plans to set up a first nuclear power plant with a capacity of 1000MW by 2027.

This is expected to rise to a total of 4000MW by 2033 making nuclear electricity a key component of the country's energy mix which is projected to about 20,000MW in total.

Kenya currently has an installed capacity of 2300MW.

The Kenyan delegation has been on a four-day nuclear power cooperation visit to South Korea.

It included a visit to Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction Company and the Kori Nuclear Power Plant Complex in Busan.

"This development comes in the wake of an agreement signed between Kenya's Ministry of Energy and Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy in May 2016 during the visit by President Park Geun-hye to Kenya," the statement said.

That agreement facilitated the exchange of technical information, specialists as well as training opportunities for Kenyans in Korea's vast nuclear power industry.

As part of the partnership with South Korea, sixteen Kenya students have been enrolled over the past three years at the KEPCO International Nuclear Graduate School (K-INGS) to undertake Masters degree courses in Nuclear Power Engineering.

Other than the agreement with South Korea, Kenya has previously signed nuclear power cooperation pacts with Russia, China and Slovakia.

South Korea on the other hand currently generates 20,000MW from nuclear power, which accounts for 22 per cent of its total electricity generation capacity.

Foreign AffairsBombs Kill At Least 12, Wound Dozens At Pakistan Court by PetmaxFlame(op): 5:26pm On Sep 02, 2016
Two bombs killed at least 12 people and wounded dozens outside a court complex in northwest Pakistan on Friday, a rescue official said, hours after militants killed two people in a Christian neighborhood in the same region.

Both attacks were claimed by Jamaat-ur-Ahrar, a breakaway Pakistani Taliban faction believed to be behind some of the past year’s deadliest attacks, including last month’s bombing of lawyers in the city of Quetta that killed 74 people.

The bodies of policemen, lawyers and other civilians were recovered, said Haris Habib, chief rescue officer in the city of Mardan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

“First there was a small blast followed by a big blast,” Habib told Reuters.

The twin attacks in the northwest came one day after Pakistan’s army touted the successes of its fight against myriad armed jihadist groups, though a spokesman acknowledged there was still a long way to go.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said Friday’s latest bombing would “not shatter our unflinching resolve in our war against terrorism”.

Lionel Messi struck the only goal of the game as 10-man Argentina secured a 1-0 win over rivals Uruguay in World Cup qualifying on Thursday.

Just over two months after retiring from international football, a decision he later reversed, Messi was the hero for Argentina in Mendoza.

The strike – which deflected off Uruguay defender Jose Maria Gimenez – was enough to separate the two sides in Edgardo Bauza’s first game in charge.

The win sends Argentina above Uruguay and to the top of the qualification standings after seven games.

PoliticsGhana Is Not Safe - Joe Ghartey by PetmaxFlame(op): 10:40pm On Aug 25, 2016
The Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Member of Parliament (MP) for Essikado in the Western Region, Joe Ghartey, has raised the alarm over what he says is a general insecurity system in the country.

Joe Ghartey contends that Ghana today, is in a state of insecurity because of the misstep and eagerness by the ruling government to clinch on to power, despite being unpopular.

Speaking in an interview with Kumasi-based ASHH FM, Joe Ghartey stated that the situation is putting fear in the Ghanaian populace. He said, currently, traders who travel by road do not feel secure because of the activities of unscrupulous elements and criminals in the country, stressing: "It is now dangerous to drive in the night."

The Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, however, pledged that a Nana Akufo-Addo-led government will restore the confidence of Ghanaians by increasing the presence of police in the country.

"Very soon, we will outdoor our manifesto, and we are going to bring back security into the country," he added. Joe Ghartey also expressed shock about the involvement of police personnel in armed robbery.

He questioned the process the police used to recruit people into the service. "What is the process, why is this happening in our society? Why has our society reached a point that even the people who are supposed to guard us are stealing from us?" he asked.

With the remarkable improvement of Raheem Sterling, Guardiola's development effects on players is not doubted. Joe Hart is appalling with his feet.

If Joe Hart listens to Guardiola, practices and fight for his place in the team, he can become the best keeper in the World, playing in Guardiola's system.

As Bravo joins Manchester City, Joe Hart should forget the hype and work with Bravo in training. When he learns, he will grow as a player.

There is no shocker coming because Guardiola is fair. Even Caballero makes terrible mistakes. He is just better with his feet than Hart.

Zinedine Zidane insists Real Madrid will not make any signings before the end of the transfer window unless they sell someone first.

The European champions have had a quiet off-season, although they did bring back Alvaro Morata from Juventus and saw Marco Asensio return from his loan spell with Espanyol.

Zidane is adamant he is happy with the squad he has, though, and has all but ruled out any new arrivals.

“If nobody leaves, there will not be any new additions,” Zidane said at a news conference.

“It is impossible. But the truth is that I am happy with the squad I have.”

Madrid get their La Liga season underway on Sunday when they travel to Real Sociedad and Zidane expects a difficult match.

“We have had a good pre-season. All the players are keen to get started. It will be a difficult year, but we are ready to fight for it,” he added.

“We know that it is important to start well. Real Sociedad will be a difficult opponent. We will see what happens.

“We all know the demands at this club are very high. I am happy with the players I have. We have a good squad and it’s up to the players to show that time and time again.

“It will be a very demanding season. La Liga is our main goal, because that’s where you have to be very consistent.”

Pep Guardiola will let Joe Hart leave Manchester City if he asks to go – but believes the goalkeeper will improve if he stays to fight for his place.

The England international – who so far is not known to have requested a transfer – was left on the bench for the club’s Premier League opener, a 2-1 win over Sunderland, last weekend.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has been linked with a move for Hart, while Sky understands the player would consider going abroad for the sake of getting first-team games.

Sevilla and Borussia Dortmund are thought to be among the 29-year-old’s continental suitors after he was replaced in the starting line-up by Willy Caballero.

The Spaniard said: “Yes, of course (I would be open to letting him leave if he asked me). I want happiness for the players.

“I don’t want players to stay here if they are not happy. I said to him, if he stays he is going to improve. He is going to understand what we want from our goalkeeper.

“I met a lot of players in the beginning who had their problems, but after one month, two months to one year, they become the best in their position.

SportsArsene Wenger Says Welbeck To Return From Injury By Christmas by PetmaxFlame(op): 12:02pm On Aug 19, 2016
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has received a big fitness boost, with news that Danny Welbeck is expected to return to action four months early.

Welbeck suffered a knee injury against Manchester City last season, which ruled him out of the 2016 European Championship.

The injury was expected to sideline him for year, but following surgery and futher check ups, that estimate has changed and Welbeck is now scheduled to be back around Christmas.

“The news was excellent and he will be back around Christmas,” Wenger said.

“He had a second check — not a procedure, a check with a camera inside. That was the good news of last week, the only good news. That was very positive.

“He has an inflammation of his knee and they had to go in again to see if it is healing well or not. If the healing was not good, he would have been out until April.”

SportsPogba Is The Best Midfielder In The World - Mourinho by PetmaxFlame(op): 9:22am On Aug 19, 2016
The Portuguese has been talking up the France international ahead of his second Premier League debut for Manchester United against Southampton at Old Trafford on Friday.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho believes Paul Pogba is the world's best midfielder, but does not expect the France international to produce fireworks every week.

Pogba, 23, became the most expensive footballer of all time when moving to United from Serie A champions Juventus for £93.8m earlier this month.

All eyes will be on Pogba, who left United to join Juventus in 2012 before returning this summer, when he makes his second Premier League debut for the Red Devils against Southampton on Friday.

However, while big things are expected from Pogba following his world record transfer, Mourinho insists he does not believe a huge amount of goals should be one of them.

"Can Paul score Ronaldo and Messi's goals?"Mourinho said."Not even 25 per cent, I believe. I believe he cannot score 20 goals in a season.

SportsSaudi Athlete Withdraws From Olympics To Avoid Israel In Next Round by PetmaxFlame(op): 3:16pm On Aug 17, 2016
A Saudi judo competitor Joud Fahmi pulled out of her first-round match at the Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro on Sunday, ahead of a prospective second-round bout tie with an Israeli rival.

However, Israeli and Saudi accounts offered different reasons for Joud Fahmy's withdrawal.
Israeli press reports claimed that Fahmy decided to leave the competition because she could meet Gili Cohen, a 25-year-old Israeli athlete, in the next round if she managed to secure a victory against Christianne Legentil from Mauritius.

But the Saudi Olympic Delegation tweeted that Fahmy's withdrawal from the games was because of injuries she had picked up in training, and not for political reasons. The Saudi medical team had advised her not to participate, the tweet said.
