elated177:
El Elohe Yahshrael!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a woman getting married in her late teen.

Most of the women who are in their seventies, sixties and late fifties now, got married before they hit 20 years. Some even got married before they got to fifteen years. And so many of them raised many great men and women.

I have always been of the opinion that women should preserve their virginity.

El Elohe Yahshrael! Hallelu YAH!
It also prevents lack of suitors. Many who are praying desperately for husbands at 45 yes old or more were once hot cake and probably turned down prospective husband's for several reasons . Some want to have masters and PhD first because that's what daddy told them

OkCornel:
1. There was no obligation on gentile believers to tithe. (The only caveat in the Old Testament is if they were resident in the promised land, as tithe is a levied on crops and certain livestock raised in the promised land only)
You're correct

In the new testament, Acts 15 exempts gentile believers from obligations of tithing.
Kindly show us

2. There is no historical or scriptural evidence of Job tithing. He was a gentile believer, no obligation on him to do such.
Is there scriptural evidence Job gave to the poor either? Does that nullify giving of alms?

3. Oga Petra, please where did God request tithes from the Israelites in Exodus 9 v 1? God's requirement of tithe from the Israelite took effect when they were already in the promised land ooo..
.By the way, your response is not comprehensive enough. Did the Israelites tithe while in Assyrian, Babylonian or Persian captivity? Hmmm? Do you have any scriptural or historical reference to prove this?
They couldn't have tithed in captivity in Egypt or Assyria.

That's why God called them out back to the land of promise where they set up a worship system and tithes and offerings resumed.

OkCornel:
You said tithing is for all?

Did God put any obligation whatsoever on gentile believers (especially those resident outside of Israel) to tithe either in the old or New Testament?
I don't know . You tell us.

Did the likes of Job (a gentile believer in the Old Testament) tithe?
I don't know.

Another poser for you. Did the Israelites tithe when they were held in captivity outside of the promised land?
They didn't . It's the reason God brought them out so they could worship him in tithes and offerings.

Exodus 9:1
Then the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh, and tell him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me
.

When they came out of Egypt God restored the system of worship and tithes and offerings resumed again .

[quote author=dogmart post=110784418]Once again you have been unable to pinpoint a record of tithe giving by the early Christians or early church from the bible. That says
A whole lot. Since for a fact the only record we have which was clearly spelt out was free giving by brethrens.

Yes, elders who preach as well as the needy in the church need be taken care of, but it was clearly from offerings which were voluntarily given by brethrens and not by any form of enforced tithings.
Now let me ask you, do u think Paul forgot to enforce tithing? Or they didn't need the money? [/quotes]

Tithes and offerings are both principles in God's kingdom. You can't pick one and leave the other .

With that said let me quickly talk about Matt 23: 23
Please Whenever u want to quote a bible verse, endevour to avoid quoting only the portion that suits u.
It's for emphasis

Matt:23: 23
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.”

This was Christ rebuking the Pharisees for putting emphasis on tithing and neglecting the important things
Was tithing only for pharisees? Tithing is for all. Jesus says to tithe.

That Wasn't saying tithing is for the Christian so don't get it twisted
Neither did he say christuians should abstain from tithing. Can you give a scripture where God condemn or put an end to tithing

Please kindly direct us to where Jesus instructed us to pay tithe and where Paul instructed the church to pay tithe.
It will be well appreciated. Equally provide where it was recorded that Paul and the early church paid tithe. or they didn't need money? cheesy

Failure to provide the passage will only mean you clearly don't know what u are talking about.

We are waiting sir
Matthew 23:23 TLB
. . .You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things.

Compare the 2 verses below

Numbers 18:21-25
21 And, behold, I have given the Levites all the tithes in Israel for an inheritance in return for their service which they serve, the [menial] service of the Tent of Meeting.

1 Corinthians 9:13-14
Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar? Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.

Lol.
Let's take it one after the other , Yes Abraham taught his children in the way of the Lord even though there was no record of either Isaac of Jacob tithing.
Jacob tithed and he must have learned it from.isaac

But of course they made animal sacrifices and built alters where these sacrifices were made.
So Mr, let me advice u. Since u are "hell" bent on following Abraham teachings and not Christ teachings, why not start buying sheeps and goats and start ur animal sacrifices?.Or oh! That Is old testament? It doesn't apply to Christianity?
grin
Was Abaraham tithe to Melchizedek by animal sacrifices?. Tithe is given of all things. It's a matter of choice

Keep decieving urselves.
Back to semder

Do u see that u didn't answer my question regarding why there was No mention of tithing by Christ or any of the apostles who were the foundation of Christianity.
You didn't ask me. Christ taught on tithing . Paul taught on tithing

So you all decide to pick the part that is comfortable with among their deeds and pick the ones you are comfortable with among he deeds in the old testament and you justify it with "The holy spirit" grin
That only describe you guys. Tithes and offerings are eternal principles. You chose offerings that is convenient and dodge the tithes

Malachi 3:8
Wherein have we robbed thee?
In tithes and offerings
.

I pity the slaves under your enforced law.
The slaves to greed are tithe eaters

decide for yourself whether you want to practice Christianity or Judaism.
Was Abraham Jaxob and Isaac practicing Judaism. That apart. So when you give offering its not Judaism but when you give tithes its Judaism. You do well . Continue . ..

Cus there is no where Tithing is ever made mentioned in Christianity, until u so called "Men of God" saw something Paul did not see. And didn't deem important to write about in all his letters to the early churches.
Who is decieving who?
Paul taught on tithing

And what did Melchizedek do with the tithe?
Buy chairs for the "temple"? grin
That's not the point. Was melchizedek a Levite?. If he's not then it's heretic to say only levites receive tithes

You lots will keep concorting various believes to justify ur greed.
Wrong ! We give tithes . It's rather yiu tithe eaters that are greedy and using concoction of truth to cushion your conscience

Tithe was instrumented by God for the Levites. That is what is clearly written in the bible. Before then there was no mention of it.
Was Melchizedek a levite?

Yes Abraham gave a part of the recovered loot to Melchizedek
You're correct and that part he gave was tithe of the lot.

, but where else was it mentioned in the history of Abram, Jacob or Isaac that they tithed?
Tithing started under Abrahamic covenant. And God testified that Abraham will teach his family the way of God

Genesis 18:19
For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him. . .

Jacob or Isaac that they tithed?
Yes they did. Abraham taught Isaac ,Isaac taught Jacob.

Genesis 28:2
. . and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee
.

And these were farmers o.

In addition there is no evidence that Abraham or any of his descendants tithes compulsorily.
The tithe Abraham paid to Melchizedek was voluntary and it was once from the spoils of war.
Nobody use terms as "compulsory" The Questionis if tithe is legit or not.

He paid it to Melchizedek because he allowed Abraham pass through his land to attack his enemy.
Where is it written

There is no other record of Abraham paying tithe to anybody for the rest of his life.
It's not b the number of time. Some do daily ,monthly or annually . The point is the principle not the process

The children of Israel was not recorded to have paid tithes while in Egypt or while wondering in the desert for 40 years.
Its the reason God brought them out of Egypt to worship him because tithing stopped when they migrated to Egypt. God brought them out to resume worship . Tithes and offerings. A d he re enacted the law again

Moses was not recorded to have paid anyone tithe.
Moses was not recorded that he gave money to the poor either.

Joseph Jacob made a vow to pay tithe saying: ‘If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, so that I come back to my father’s house in peace, then shall the Lord be my God ... and of all that you shall give me I will surely give the teJacob nto you."
Joseph (Jacob )how was conditional and not compulsive, with a big if
How did Jacob know about tithing if it wasn't an existing practice in his time . Did he go to war like Abraham? Judge ye!

We were not told if he actually paid the tithe and to whom.
He did.

That's your theory. The word of God is against extravagant lifestyle. Your extreme language is more like a distraction to the topic. If tithe is legit or not. Proof it with point .

Instead of them to teach and encourage their members to improve their skills and abilities to succeed in life,
The word of God is balance . There is place of hard work, there is place of grace and prayer . You can not dwell on one only. The Pastors at least do better . They teach on diligence. They teach against lazinessajs being slothful in businessetc. , non givers always exerggerate as though the whole 1 hr message every week is only on tithe.

they turn then into perpetual ATM machines.

Malachi 3:9

Tithes and offerings issue was for everyone

I am not talking about regular pastors who are also victims of exploitation by the so called men of God
Then it will be wrong of you guys to rubbish all pastors. Because 99.9 percent are lay workers who volunteer to serve God's people. Sacrificing their pay in serving God and you guys come up here before the world to rubbish all pastors because of your bile against few.

I am talking about G.Os who set up churches as means of fleecing desperate or illiterate people of their hard-earned money through perverse doctrines.
If you want to address G.O. do it differently. That still doesn't mean you're right and they are wrong .we will still analyze your points in the light of the Bible

Wrong translation and interpretation. This is how King James Version puts it;
It doesn't make a difference. The principle is clear that it's ok to pay tithes

Why do you think Jesus specified what the scribes and Pharisees should tithe, or you think Jesus was not aware money exists? Jesus specifically stated issues that are important to God - law, judgment, mercy, and faith, these are what all the message and parables of Jesus was about. It's what the gospel is about. Tithe has no place in the gospel according to Jesus.
Says who? Jesus didn't condem marrying you marrying your daughter either. So does it make it right

Yes, tithes was instituted in Israel as compensation for the Levi tribe, which as a priestly tribe were not allowed to inherit land. There are no more Levis in Israel and so no one pays tithes anymore in Israel. How Nigerians scam artists (G.Os) converted themselves to Levis is a miracle.
Tithe was instituted under Abrahamic covenant 400 years before the law. Abraham Jacob Isaac all tithes. They only stopped when they became slaves in Egypt. That's even why God had to bring them out to "serve him," and in serving him he re instituted tithes and offerings and regulated it for them. Because it has always been in the system of worship since the days of Abraham

So it no more about Levis but about ministers and partakers. Is it only G.Os that ministers and wait at the altar or preach the gospel? Why is it that the tithes and offerings are chopped by only the G.Os and his family? Should not the tithes be shared equally among the pastors and all the workers of a church? Why would the G.Os be driving private jets and ordinary pastors are walking the streets under the sun, preaching the gospel
Tithe is given to God not to G.O. Private jets were not bought with tithes and offerings. Some came as gift from members . Some G.O have businesses. Don't work with assumptions.

There is no must in any genuine religion, that's religious fundamentalism. You give as the heart directs.
As the word instructs . Selfish heart won't direct

Wrong. Tithe eaters are those who rob God by not tithing.

Pastors are not tithe collectors. Pastors are rather tithers and givers. And for you information most denominational pastors are volunteers . THEY ARE.LAY WORKERS.. They have their jobs and businesses. Ranging from civil servant to lecturer etc.
Only few pastors are into full time ministry and such are placed on allowance. Church money does not belong to the pastor. Tithe eaters give impression as though pastors live on church offering. Most pastors spend their money on the church. Every pastor is not G.O with private jet. That's just few exceptions

Please give verses where Jesus preached about tithes or where he taught his disciples about tithes. He only made reference to tithes when admonishing the pharesees for placing tithes above all other things.

Matthew 23:23 TLB
. . .. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things.

Yes there must be balance. Tithe is not part of that balance. It's a scam by modern day Christianity.
You're wrong . Compare the two verses below

21 And, behold, I have given the Levites all the tithes in Israel for an inheritance in return for their service which they serve, the [menial] service of the Tent of Meeting.
