I understand that from your own point of view, our defense was shit. Now I need you to understand from our own point of view, they performed magnificently without any type of cover from the midfield, Maguire always covering for Shaw thereby pushing Wan Bissaka as the 3rd CB. That's the reason for the spaces you saw.
If you read our reviews on our thread, you'll see a lot of people calling out Shaw and the midfield but you have to give credit to the people at the back.
No matter the type of game it is, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE CHANCES. You either convert yours or you don't. Take the positives bro, we are ok with the 3 points.

Imagine Matic and Fred in that midfield yesterday... With Pogba taking so long to get into the game, he and Fred will be competing for who will lose possession the highest. I even shudder to think about Matic. His own game has regressed to the point that if he loses possession, it leads to a goal. Chelsea would definitely have ran away with the game in the first half. They definitely would have embarrassed us at OT.

I go to those pages when i am sad or bored because the insults are so funny in a sadistic way and they make me laugh til my voice cracks. Lingard uploads a picture and one supposed manu fan says *STAY AWAY FROM RASHFORD YOU FAILURE* another says *YOU SHOULD LEAVE FOOTBALL AND BE AN INSTAGRAM MODEL* When wan bissaka was signed, fans went to lingard's page to comment *STAY AWAY FROM BISSAKA, DON'T RUIN HIM LIKE YOU* and other really demeaning stuffs. Lingard is not the only one that recieves this negativity though i am sure you know that. But this guy actually gives his all. It is not his fault he is quite limited, if the coaches refuse to sell him and keep playing him, then obviously there is someting good about him. If rival fans skin your players and fans skin your players, how are the players supposed to perform? where is the zeal to push supposed to come from? You guys are always talking about the right mentality but your own fans are the ones destroying the players mentality and confidence. I understand these are hard times for your team but you guys need to take it easy.

Have you seen a mother/father beating a disappointing child? Sometimes it will seem as if they are going to kill the child. But when an outsider touches the child, that same parent will most likely rain hell on the outsider. That's the case with us and Lingard. He's disappointing. He posts rubbish on Instagram and fans resort to abuse in order to get him to concentrate. The same fans also call him Messi Lingard. Lingod. I'm sure you must have seen the Hazard comparisons (ask shekpites) or Assnal about turning their stadium into a dance floor..
Martial has been underperforming but you don't see anyone abusing him online or offline even because he keeps to himself and the talent is obviously there. But Lingard will run to Instagram in the wake of a disappointing game to shout beans beans beans.
I hope he turns up this season sha.

I have looked at our team after I went through the arguments on the thread a few pages back on whether the team is considerably weakened or strengthened from last season, and have come to a conclusion that it is still early to say for certain and it will heavily depend on the system.

Judging from preseason games, the average set up was basically in a 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 switch formation. I believe our de facto line up will be

on paper, this first team is just there but when examined from the prism of high press/quick breakout like was the idea based on preseason; then I'd say it's 68% good - and this is me assuming the attack can convert a high percentage of chances created because there will be chances.

from another standpoint, the major problem is if Paul Pogba were to miss a large number of games at any point in the season. granted he's the most creative midfielder assured a start in most of the games. the other being Juan Mata. however, with the players available, I think there may be a way to incorporate creativity should the team find themselves in an unfortunate lengthy Pogba absence.

again on paper, not so much but this is also a line up capable of maintaining the high press, as well as working out the quick breakaways. creativity can come mainly from the wings, twin-striker interplays and a good amount from set plays. Pereira is heads and shoulders above when it come to taking corners, and with Maguire and Lindelof in the box, it must be a consideration.

NB: it's just my point of view so open for discussion.

Maybe it's just me because I don't really like playing Dalot as a wing back but I'd play AWB as the wing back and play Tuanzebe as the 3rd CB. That way, we'd be very strong defensively and attack wise, I don't really believe all those things that they are saying that AWB can't attack. I'd give him the chance to prove them wrong..

I'd give James Garner some minutes in this set up too. The boy is too composed to a fault. And has a knack for cracking, long range goals...

What if because of Ole's "new tactics and motivational speeches", he was able to bring out the talent we all saw b4 buying them?

The fact is that the events we are trying to project is still in the future. And while we are obviously poorly prepared, given how we finished last season, we might just surprise everybody and have a really good season while playing good football. It swings both ways.

Being realistic is good... Being optimistic when there's clearly nothing we can do about from here, is better. Because at the end of the day, all of us here will at some point be jumping up and clapping for the team or screaming at the TV as if the players can hear us and will automatically start playing better. I know I will.

Hmm the new season starts this weekend and for the first time in many years, I'm not excited about the upcoming season.. I've tried to be optimistic about the upcoming season but I see that Man Utd team and I find it difficult to be optimistic.

It seems the board, the manager and the fans all have the same problem. We quickly forget things. Like some of us quickly forgot how useless Rashford, Lingard and Martial can be. Especially Martial that can go annonymous for 3 months. Some people are predicting lineups and they have Martial, Lingard and Rashford as the front 3 and they are excited for it, what a pity.. Apart from the defence and Pogba, I look at the rest of the team and feel so sad. We've really fallen so low.

I'm not even ready to start throwing shots at Ole cuz I'm not ready for arguments. But one thing Ole will do that will make me hate him for life is to sell Lukaku without any good replacement.

Whatever happens, my judgement about Ole remains he won't last this season. Except we miraculously complete some signings before the end of the window.

Bro, I can't remember the last time I was excited going into the new season. I don't know about the board and the manager but the fans doesn't forget anything. Check out united fan base, everybody is screaming out almost the same thing. New signings in key areas.
Everybody knows that we are currently parading the most lazy and overpampered set of players but do u stop supporting the team because the board has chosen to be blind to what the team needs?
Ole came in and in his first full season, we have addressed the RB problem and hopefully, the CB problem. It may not be this TW but given enough time, I believe Ole will address those major positions we need to be sorted.
If u go back a few pages, you will see all the names we have been throwing about, hoping on a hopeless hope that they will materialize but so far, they haven't so we have to build lineups with the players we have. Or do we borrow players from Mancity and build lineups?
Its very normal to want to jump ship because of the current condition of the team but if it's easy, Mancity probably will have the biggest fan base in the world but for most of us here, it's only Manchester United. We can't love any other club.

The only change I'll make in that line up is Greenwood for DJ. Then push Martial to the LW and Rashford upfront. Then when the opponent is getting tired, I'll bring DJ to push them back.
They can interchange at will though...
