Owo ,your contribution are very great.Suen will never see anything good in MaSSOB that's not fair.About two billion dollars has been sunk into former NEPA still there is still some places without light for a year.National ID card scam .300billion naira allocated to ministry of works,PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY.and EFCC double standard .they are only going after any one who is against OB J'S government .well few months ago America said that Nigeria will be a failed state in fifteen years to come.If other people from other tribe didn't acknowledge others plight there still be problems .When KEN Saro Wiwa was agitating for Niger Delta people because of the degrading of their environment .he reminded Nigeria government to remember that he helped to kill some Biafrian during the war.it happend that thesame Nigeria he helped killed him.what a double standard country.THE ghost and Darkness has enveloped Nigeria, until they are wiped away things will not be OK.
Religion / Re: Pastor Bimbo Odukoya in Sosoliso Plane Crash by pharrod(m): 2:51am On Dec 18, 2005
When I look back at my 45 years on earth and the things that the Lord has allowed me to achieve so far, I feel really blessed. You see, every year added to a person’s age is one closer to the grave.

Life is very short, death is sure and one day, we will each account for the life lived before God. It is upon this premise that I seize every opportunity I have to work for God.

At the end of the day, when my life on earth is done, I want to hear Jesus say, well done to me.”

Life and death are two things that go hand in with Pastor Bimbo Odukoya and sometimes, listening to her speak of both so interchangeably and in no unequivocal language, you’d almost think she had seen death lurking by the corner.

But it seems to improper to refer to this modern day ‘Agony Aunt’ in the past, as her views about self and society continue to re-echo, one whole week after she had and some 106 others plunged to earth with the ill-fated Sosoliso airliner

Even the life experience that saw her turning full swing into Christianity and eventual priesthood is predicated on the life and death issue. It was indeed a sermon on life that jolted her out of seeming lethargy.

Beyond Fountain of Life Church
When the news filtered on Sunday December 11th, 2005 that Pastor Bimbo Odukoya, firebrand pastor ad televangelist was one of those on board the Sosoliso aircraft that crashed on Saturday, December 10th, many people were stunned. Ordinarily, the passing of pastor would not have elicited much emotion from any group other than the congregation, which she leads. When that Pastor Bimbo Odukoya, associate senior pastor, Fountain of Life Church, President, Single and Married Ministries and Chairman, Discovery for Women, the horror, shock and disbelief at such a passing bleeds far beyond the walls of her church and into the homes and hearts of many Nigerian, young and old.

Pastor Bimbo would not be much surprised by the reactions. For apart from whatever she’s been doing with single & Married and the Fountain of Life Church, she’d been round a few other churches too. Hear her: “Before founding the Fountain of Life Church, my husband and I served in a number of ministries since 1982…. we were ordained in 1992 by Bishop Mike Okonkwo of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM)"

Politics / Re: Does the Nigerian Police Make Things Worse For Nigerians? by pharrod(m): 10:33am On Dec 17, 2005
t was a show of shame for the Nigeria Police Force as 16 of its officers were paraded Thursday in Abuja for alleged armed robbery and economic sabotage.

Among those paraded were Police Corporal Isaac Mangs, with Force No. 235783, who is facing multiple charges of murder and armed robbery.

Corporal Mangs, who hails from Mushere town in Bokkos Local Government area of Plateau State, enlisted in the Police Force as a constable in 2003 got promoted two years later, and was attached to No. 21 Squadrom of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) Abuja, where he served until recently when he was fished out as a son of the devil.

Also cooling his heels in detention is a mobile policeman attached to Mopol 5 Squadron in Benin, who led a five-man gang, which recently robbed the Standard Chartered Bank in the Wuse district of Abuja, carting away a huge sum of money after killing three persons, including a security guard. Upon his arrest, police anti-robbery detectives, have so far recovered the sum of $10,000 and N1.8 million cash from him.

Parading the suspects before newsmen Wednesday in Abuja, Inspector-General of Police, Sunday Ehindero, said by their conduct, the 16 policemen have violated their oath of office and flagrantly refused to serve and protect with integrity, lamenting that "they have brought shame to their uniforms by being perpetrators and perpetuators of crime.”

Ehindero was particularly piqued over the case of Corporal Mangs, who not only snatched a Toyota Camry car, registered as CL 456 EKY, from one late Bala Dodo, who offered him lift, but also killed the driver after robbing him of the sum of N6,000.

Ironically, Mangs, who confessed to the crime, said he abandoned his duty post at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command Headquarters where he was deployed on standby, and went to the Jabi motor park in Abuja, where he plotted the crime with two of his accomplices, identified as Chinedu Eze and Kayode Kolawole.

Armed with a V2 rifle, Mangs picked up the duo from the Jabi motor park and positioned themselves at a twin flyover bridge linking the Games Village to the National Stadium in the Federal C apital city.
Narrating how he snatched the car after clubbing the driver to death, Mangs said he flagged down and pleaded for lift, which the unsuspecting driver obliged him.

Shortly thereafter, they snatched the car, forced the driver into the back seat, and diverted the vehicle to a road leading to Kabusa village where Corporal Mangs brought him out and clubbed him to death with the butt of his rifle, after collecting the N6,000 in his pocket.

With mission accomplished, Mangs and his comrades-in- crime drove the vehicle to Illela, a border town in Sokoto State, where luck ran against them, and they were arrested while attempting to sell the car.
Other cops paraded, included Inspectors Moses Nwagboso, Christian Okere, and Sergeant Daniel Gokir.
Also being held are Corporal Ogunode Williams, Constables Musa Mohammed, Ishaku Anrihi, and Ibrahim Ahmed.

The IGP also named Sergeants Ibrahim Mamuda, Abubakar Dandare, as well as Corporals Ajiboye Oluwole, Usman Ahmed and Maijamaa Alhaji, as police officers who have been dining with the devil before they were eventually nabbed.

He said all the 16 policemen and their 12 civilian accomplices will soon appear in court on charges of criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, culpable homicide, and illegal dealing in petroleum products.

Politics / Re: Who is the Next First Lady? by pharrod(m): 5:03am On Dec 03, 2005
There were speculations during the week in Abuja that President Olusegun Obasanjo may have scrapped the office of the First Lady which had his late wife, Stella, as the last occupant.

In its stead, according to government sources, the President's first daughter, Iyabo, presently Health Commissioner in Ogun State, may become the 'Presidential chaperon'.

Sources disclosed that following the death of Stella, there were arguments that the President needed a woman by his side to help play the role of hostess. While some people felt he could co-opt one of his wives from whom he is separated into the position, others felt he could rely on a female relation and the arguments favoured Iyabo.

Literature / Prisoner of the Vatican:The Pope's secret to capture Rome from the new Italian by pharrod(m): 4:32am On Nov 30, 2005
We think of Italy as an ancient nation, but in fact the unified Italian state was born only in the nineteenth century -- and only against the adamant refusal of the pope to relinquish his rule of Rome. In this riveting chronicle of international intrigue, the renowned historian David Kertzer delves into secret Vatican archives to reveal a venomous conflict that kept the pope a self-imposed prisoner of the Vatican for more than fifty years.

King Victor Emmanuel, his nemesis Garibaldi, the French emperor Napoleon III, England, Spain, Germany, Austria, and even America play a part in this astonishing drama. On September 20, 1870, the king's battle to unite the disparate Italian states came to a head when his troops broke through the walls of Rome, which the pope had ruled for centuries. Pope Pius IX, ensconced with the Vatican Council, denounced the usurpers and plotted with his advisers to regain power or else flee Italy altogether. A dramatic struggle unfolded over the next two decades, pitting church against state and the nations of Europe against one another. This is a story of outrageous accusations, mutual denunciations, raucous demonstrations, frenetic diplomacy, and secret dealings. Rocks were hurled along with epithets, and war across Europe seemed inevitable.

The antagonists were as explosive as the events. Pius IX, the most important pontiff in modern history, engineered the doctrine of papal infallibility but ended his days reviled and denounced. The blustering Victor Emmanuel schemed behind the backs of his own ministers. Garibaldi, Italy's dashing national hero, committed naive and dangerous mistakes. Beyond Italy, the pope"s main protector, Napoleon III, was himselfbeing taken prisoner.

This devastating conflict, almost entirely unknown until now, still leaves a deep mark on the Italian soul. No one who reads David Kertzer's revelatory account will ever think of Italy or the Vatican in quite the same way again.
