In between the agents you meet and all, telling you to staple you passport to your confirmation. and also asking you to make a photocopy of your biodata page, they are all lies. Do not staple your passport to the confirmation page and also they didnt ask for any photocopy of your passport bio data page. You can imagine doing a photocopy of your biodata page as high as 500 naira... They do play on the ignorance of the individuals. All they need is your ds160 confirmation, appointment confirmation, passport photograph and your international passport.

Also ensure you fill the form your self as i did all myself and it was an easy task. They basically ask you questions based on what you fill on your form. and be truthful...avoid telling lies. They are trained to do detect lies. Once again this forum really helped a lot.

my visa just got approved today in lagos..mine, wife and 6 month son. Transcript would be sent shortly. Its God and this forum helped me alot

In a situation where i registered my business on 2nd of june 2015 and the business type is an Enterprise, do i pay a fee of any kind to get my TIN and what other documents do i get from them?

Nope. Tin is free in all FIRS office. Work in to any of the FIRS office with your business certificate, means of id, utility bill, and on your company letter headed paper, you write an application on it. Do not pay for any fee. I know sometimes they give Tips maybe to quicken the process which is normal and but its at your own discretion. Now to register and get your own TIN, it depends on your company address which then determines where and which of the FIRS you would be getting the TIN

Thanks scantee, I meant that during the registration of the business name, I included myself and my wife as the owners of the business but it's practically for her.
My question is since I am registered as one the owners of that business, would I be required to pay PAYE on it even though my PAYE is deducted by my employer.
Talking about VAT, the business will start operating from next month. On what are we going to pay VAT and how will that be calculated?
We want to fix/get to know all the government rates and taxes before starting.

VAT is just 5% charge on all goods and services. Now i dont know what kind of business you are into but what ever it is, when giving the final price to your customer, you are required to add 5% vat on it which is borne by the buyer/customer.I.E take a look at MR biggs or any of this fast food joint, take a closer look at the receipt and you would see evidence of them charging VAT. You take out your own money from the final price paid, then the 5 percent on it, you go and remit it to firs by filling the Vat returns form and take it to the bank and pay it. Most banks collect taxes on behalf of FIRS

She will be the one managing the business.
I already have an e-tcc from lagos state and pay PAYE through my employer.
Hope it's only my wife that will pay tax from the business?

After you registered your business name, you need to register with Firs for VAT purpose as the a business name which could be a venture or an enterprise. The only Tax required to pay to FIRS is VAT. if you have commenced business operation,you need to file your VAT monthly to the FIRS office where your TIN number is located which usually depends on your company address. Failure amounts to penalty of 5,000 every month. Now for TCC, FIRS don't issue Tax clearance certificates to Business names like ventures or enterprises. TCC is issued out to companies i.e limited liability companies....

please house member, another question. On the place where it it was written Person/Entity Paying for Your Trip. Actually its like a joint stuff, In my own form, i kept self. Should i put self in my wife own application too though out of the whole bill, i am footing like 65% - 35% u know as per supportive wife....lol. Your inputs would be appreciated

On the DS 160 form, there is a place on the form that reads

spouse's full name (include maiden name) ----------------

Her passport still carries her maiden name. In the surname box..should i put both my surname and the maiden name in the space provided meaning putting two surnames there....

Why dont you just put the price. You are selling an item, a price should be on the said item before a buyer calls to negotiate.

please do i pay for the visa fees first before i fill the DS-160 Form or the form first before i pay the fees. Also please how do i go bout filling the form as its for a family of three. father, mother and son. In short can some one here just simplify the whole process by steps. I would really appreciate it
