Curious2020: I support this, but do you know that passing the mock isn't enough to get admission, you could pass the mock, get the sponsorship for standardized testing, ace the tests and still not gain admission—what a waste of resources when other students actually need it.
The mock could be conducted, olevel results and the equivalent should be considered too, ESSAYS one of the main factors that matters in getting into a US college, a 1500+ on the sat with average/bad essays or writing skills will end up in the reject pile. So I suggest:
MAIN FACTORS TO CONSIDER
1) Olevel or the equivalent + maybe the mock exam (if necessary) cuz IDK how he's gonna check if the students didn't cheat. This days the education system is corrupt, passing WAEC exam is Now about how fast you could write from the answers written on the board or dictated, especially private schools, people have A's they didn't work for na just settlement go make them pass.
2) ESSAY at least a 650 words essay is perfect to describe Why you want to study in the US, what you hope to achieve with your education and why you need sponsorship for the standardized testing, ability to write this essays well will help measure your chances of getting admitted into a college after getting the support instead of just passing the exam and getting rejected from colleges because of your inability to express yourself.
3) INTERVIEW: Ahh, if a student wrote WAEC in a miracle center, got someone to write their essays, this is the point to fish out such person, imagine getting straight A's, writing phenomenal essays and unable to defend yourself in an interview for an extremely competitive spot.
4) type of school attended, you mentioned less privileged, i believe my private school counter parts are doing well for their parents to afford 50k plus per term, how much is SAT? They'll support their children's future. Just leave it for public school students, Biko! unless they could prove that their parents can't actually afford it and substantiate the claim with genuine evidences.
PEACE! well said! Oil dey ur head. |

Eniolakiite: I have been following your story. My advice like some others have pointed is to have a plan here also to pursue your first degree. And properly plan towards grad studies abroad. And if you insist on going abroad for your first degree according to your big dream, well you need a better way of handling the situation and approaching strangers for help. Also like someone said, you need to be able to tell your story coherently without muddling many things together.
You can still achieve whatever you want to achieve. Thanks, pls can you help me out? How do I contact the education USA or any order related organization that can help me out? |

horlahsunbo225: It is not the spirit of poetry but emotional blackmailing. You want everybody to see you from the prism that you're suffering and facing challenges so all of us can rally round you and give our maximum support but it doesn't work like that. I that I'm typing this lost my mum when I was teen(js3), stay at home for three years b4 I went to uni, hustle(i write project, assignment and test for my classmate) to feed my self thru uni, currently serving I paid for passport from my first 3months allawee, paying for my GRE with the next three month and I'm paying for application fee with the next three months.
The essence of my story is nobody is obligatory to help you no matter the condition you're passing thru or what you've experienced in life and if you eventually get help be grateful and know how to talk in polite manner to your prospective helpers.
Moreover we all have a dream or dreams but the thin line btw having dream and turning it to reality is by cutting one's cloth according to his/her material. There is no law that said all u want to become cannot be achieves if you study ur undergraduate in Nigeria and graduate with good grade which we eventually qualify for PG admission in any IVY you want. To me your dream is vague to you and there is a different between having a dream and knowing how to achieve it. You need to go back to your drawing board and have a concise step of how you wanna achieve your dream else you live the rest of your life in mirage.
Peace..... Thanks for the 2cents, I'm sorry you lost your mum . But u see, if I choose to do pursue my undergraduate degree, over here I don't think I can survive, handout today hostel fees tommorow, even how do I pay for projects or practicals, that would improve my grades, CV and pratical experience. my scholarship only covers tuition, and would be renewed every year, on the following criteria i need to maintain a GPA of not less than second class upper. The problem of cultists, EtC Na me know wetin I face for secondary school. But if I get admitted into a uni in the US, it's a win-win, a one time spending, no extra spending, highest I'll work on campus to feed myself. |

sonofakin: Look Bros, you've made this thread about yourself and it is time for you to move on. People raise thousands of dollars to fund their dreams. A lady raised such just this year to fund her Harvard dreams. If you are sure of yourself and also legit, humanize yourself. Create a GoFundMe page or something, tell your story, people do it everyday. This is a faceless forum and you are taking advantage of it, I wonder the kind of 16-year old you are. You have asked for money for application fee, SAT registration, you even asked for money to change your phone. Two different people in your life want you to raise part of your the money you need before they can help you, one wants you to raise 50k for SAT so he can help you with 35k for passport. I dont get it. That is kind of a thing you say to an overgrown wayward baby who is failing academically. In your case, you are not right?Look, you are not special, not your WAEC result, not your so-called awards. Maybe your dream is special and that is if you are legit. It is time for you to humanize yourself like I said. Even on Facebook, we raised law school tuition for a fresh university graduate who can't afford it. But you are here on a faceless forum crying wolf. If you are really 16, I pity people that will have deals with you in future I appreciate your correction, but don't judge me by the way I act I've got a good heart, I'm highly cooperative but I easily get annoyed though. GoFundMe isn't available in Nigeria, I can only use gifter and others but i don't want all the people around me to know what I'm up to, because I only know my friends I don't know the Judas among em. They'd definitely come across my campaign, i don't want that! |

In life?
Which 'life' have you experienced at age16?
There are people in their late 20s and 30s here, some reading this conversation and probably already considering approaching you to assist, yet you come here and consistently spill arrogant jargons.
Please o, is it the same brain that wrote all this and the ones before that produced the so-called stellar academic performances, and that wants to be the next Elon Musk?
I want to know.
P.S.: The way you talk to people who you need help from is appalling man. You need to watch it. Ok sir thank you ❣️, but I think experiencing life is not by age but by how much you have encountered, pls I don't want to start shedding tears while typing. |

ISRAELIGHTE: "
You don't talk down on yourself to get help. Someone said to me in 2016 "Don't let people pity you" and it stucked with me ever since. I can't explain that in detail.. but meditate and digest.
If studying in the US is a vision and not an ambition; you don't really have to go this length to drag your family down. Whatever God calls for, God provides for. The holy book confirmed that in "1 Kings 8:15 KJV Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which spake with his mouth unto David my father, and has with his hands fulfilled it"
Simply put, Vision means: God's plan for your life.(Jeremiah 29:11)
Ambition means: Your plan for your life.
If studying in the US is God's plan for your Life, then I don't think you need to talk down on your famiy to get help.. Please never call yourself poor. Your tongue is mightily powerful. The future Ellon musk should know better, am I wrong?
I'm glad you asked for help on this platform, who knows who might be reading this right now Life is mysterious.
To every visionary out there whose ship is to sail towards to the US to get education, and right now it looks like a seemingly insurmountable circumstance; Hold on to the vision, it is for an appointed time. Though it tarry, wait for it, for it shall speak and not lie. I'm writing this with blood in my pen, I can relate—experientially. Right now everyone may think you are dumb for still holding on to your america education adventure.. just know you are not alone. J.Cole sang "they say the dreams come true and when they do that's a beautiful thing"
Shalom,
Israel God Thanks, for the correction bro, for now, I may be financially poor but I'm not intellectually poor thanks for the correction biggie! No matter the circumstances I'm always ready to face it, I'm never giving up on my US dreams, with or without support! And all this doesn't affect me in any I'm always strong, and I'll always be. I attend classes sometimes with empty stomach but the grace of God has been always sufficient for me. I'm not in any way negatively affected by the comment of any nairalander on this thread, if u should experience a week in life you'll definitely understand the challenges life posses to me! Someone we didn't know until the day he started to post his comments came here and started asking for help, and you expect us to start dashing out money. How long have you stayed in US? Do you know how hard it is to even have a savings in this country with all the bills you have to pay as a student. Maybe your daddy is drug pusher pumping money to you sick asshole. If I chat with his pastor or I see his facebook profile, I will know if he's real or impersonating. Until I'm sure he is real, I will send no dime. I have told mr fairheart already. Below are some of his past comments:
He created 2 topics that is now deleted.
Mr fairheart told me the boy snapped two section of a magazine, a letter dated November 2019 from Byink Foundation, there's no document from LSG addressed to him. But since you don't want us to verify his source and you busy man that is always working and making money please pay for his SAT. Pay for this boy SAT or thunder fire you. Byinks foundation adopted as a less privileged indigent of Lagos State, with immense academic abilities, pls don't let me start to brag! Lagos government is an 100% partner with the foundation, and the letter on the magazine was from Lagos State government, Mrs fashola foundation congratulating all the scholarship awardees and showing support to the foundation. |

drDoom3: Good day.
I'd like to chip in with some little words of advice, to avoid getting into difficult situations like these in the future.
Firstly, you have to realize that you are not the center of attraction and the world does not revolve around you. Keep that in mind whenever you want to do or say anything. If people on this thread decide to help you or not, it doesn't affect them in any way. I love your determination and high self-esteem, but everything has a limit. Don't overstep, else you'd chase your helpers away.
Secondly, in life, you have no excuse for any wrong decisions you make. No matter what you say or think can exonorate you, you will still have to face the consequences of your actions in one way or another. There are other 16 year olds and even younger kids facing similar crises. I started this process when I graduated from secondary school at 14, had to hustle for sponsors as my parents didn't have anything to help me with apart from prayers. It doesn't mean that you'll start blame games, insulting anyone or transferring aggression. In life, no one owes you anything, including even your parents. Just calm down, put your head down and follow the process. Be ready to do research, there are organizations that sponsor high achieving students in your shoes. Do your research and find them.
Above all, I wish you the best. Thanks |

Why did he say you must get your SAT registered before he can help with passport? That's like putting horse before cart. Can you tell him that you have found some people who want to assist with SAT registration but they want to see your international passport first? Its true, fairheart told me about this on Sunday. I'll assist with a token when I see the passport, and others can assist too and I will not send money to anyone until I see passport. What do you think? Pls kindly help me! the SAT registration will only propel my pastor to help me get my passport faster, he gave me a condition, and you also gave me a condition, but unfortunately both conditions seem to alter each other. |

fairheart: Try to listen, okay? I said I will ask around...meaning I would be talking to some people from here. Their response determines what you get. Saying by grace of God is not realistic to me...the same grace of God has been available for you all these time, but you haven't raised anything. Even God wants us to make conscious choice, plans, efforts and be realistic while we do that.
If you can't afford 50K for SAT, how do you plan to get 35K for passport? People in the US don't dash out money just like that o; some of them are even wondering how your situation is my business. I think that is why some people here are suspicious that I your documents may not be safe.
Also, let me tell you. There are people who can pay single-handedly pay for your SAT on this thread. But it seems they haven't been impressed by your story, which is why they had advised that you study in Nigeria. And I see things in that direction too. My fear is getting people to pay for your SAT, only for for you not to be able to raise other major fees.
You still haven't told us how you plan to cover major fees like SEVIS, VISA? You need to be realistic. As I said earlier my sponsor wants me to gain admission myself, so once i get registered for the SAT, my pastor, who has been the one helping me throughout my secondary school years and He's currently aware of all this, he has promised to help me get my passport once I get registered for the SAT. As for my main sponsor he his ready to take all other expenses related to travel. That's what he only promised to do And I think he's pretty experienced with travel cos he's kids are currently studying at UOFT canada. Pls anyone on this thread that can help me! Pls kindly DM, I'm a poor boy oo, pls kindly contribute to my future my father is a road side mechanic ooo. I'm the one aspiring to become the future Elon musk from the rurals of Nigeria |

Note: Don't ever make a threat in the circle you are looking for favour. Don't do it again. 2&3 is covered by the grace of God! I promise I'll never do that! As for 1, pls what's the deficit so I can start working on it now! Thanks for your support may God bless you! |

labylaby: I'd like to add : there are application fee waivers. You can apply for them by sending emails to the schools. When applying for financial aid, there are also CSS fee waivers or ISFAA. Your counsellor should also tick the financial burden question on your common app.
It doesn't need to be that expensive. Seek out help from these schools. As long as you actually do well in your SAT, you stand a chance. Check out HBCUs too. 2-3 schools is not sufficient for anybody-- especially not an international with need. Apply to at least 8. Find out which schools will give you fee waivers and tailor your list from there.
I'd be careful sending personal information to strangers. Lol thanks, and besides i ain't sending anything like that just my WASSCE result, award of scholarship and other related stuff, not my transcript, testimonial, certificate. Anyways thanks, he his also trying to help with my college application asking for proofs of academic excellence before he can render any assistance. |
