Chairman of the Nigeria National Committee of WAEC, Hajia Binta Abdulkadir, announced the awards at the 57th annual meeting of the Committee, where she also named Miss Adeagbo Michelle from Lagos, as the second national prize winner, Master Prince Obi-Obuoha from Port Harcourt was awarded 3rd prize winner with cash prizes. During the ceremony, three best schools in the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2018 from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja-Loyola Jesuit College, Abuja, Louisville Girls’ Secondary School, Abuja, and Stella Maris College, Abuja, were presented with the WAEC Endowment Fund Book Prize. Abdulkadir disclosed that the Prize in this category was worth 5,000 United States Dollars. She said: “It will interest you to know that the winner of the 1st Prize for the National Distinction/Merit Award, Master Seunara Peter Arotiba, was also the best overall internationally in the WASSCE for School Candidates 2018, as he was presented with the International Excellence Award at the 67th Annual Council Meeting that was held in March 2019, at Freetown, Sierra Leone. “Thereby, bringing victory to the Federal Republic of Nigeria after 11 years, when the Award was last won by a Nigerian,” she said. She noted that the Council, over the years, has greatly improved on its service delivery to its numerous stakeholders, adding that Nigeria National Office, in particular, has taken advantage of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to improve its service delivery. Abdulkadir listed some of these innovations to include the online registration of candidates for both the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates and Private Candidates. She said: “This development has enabled the Council in Nigeria to achieve 100% migration from paper-based to electronic enrolment of candidates for its examinations. “The deployment of Quick Response Code (QR-Code) on its certificates, thereby making it impossible to falsify certificates issued by the Council; Candidates Identity Verification, Attendance, Malpractice and Post Examinations Management System (CIVAMPEMS); e-Marking and adaptation of Computer Based Test for its Aptitude Tests, form part of the ICT that has been deployed by the Council in Nigeria in the conduct of its business. “The adoption of Advanced Printing Technology and deployment of a new technological solution called ‘ITEM DIFFERENTIAL PROFILE’ are some of the innovations adopted by the Council to tackle the menace of examination malpractice. “The Council in Nigeria has also perfected its Electronic Certificate Management System, an online portal being deployed to enable qualified candidates in the WASSCE for Private Candidates to request for their certificates online via a dedicated platform,” she said. Head of National Office of WAEC, Mr Olu Adenipekun, urged members of the Nigeria National Committee drawn from all parts of Nigeria to depart the meeting more united in their determination to effect positive changes in the education sector of the country. . He noted that the Committee was the highest policy-making organ of the Council in Nigeria, and has its membership drawn from both the Federal and States Ministries of Education and from the Education Department of the FCT, Abuja. Others include Stakeholders such as the representatives of All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), the Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education, the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Joint Admissions and Matriculation (JAMB) and “other interests”. It all started with fire. The fire that burnt our neighbor’s house started in the middle of the day, the time when most people are at work. But there are those whose place of employment is the home, and thanks to one of such people, a major disaster was averted. The first person to see smoke billowing from the visitor’s bedroom on the ground floor was the house help next door. The house that caught fire was between two houses: our house was on the left, and the house where this house help lived was on the right. It was this house help, according to another neighbor, Mrs. Hassan, a retiree who lived further down the street, who began to shout: “Fire! Fire! Somebody house dey burn o! Make una bring water!” A flurry of security guards, gatemen, meyguards, houseboys from the neighboring houses, and other people who happened to be at home, pumped with adrenaline, scaled the fence on the side of the alarm-raising house help’s house, which thankfully did not have any barbed wire on it, and attacked the fire with a water hose and buckets of water. Before they began, one of them had the sense to remove the “cut-out” for the house, turning off the electricity. This, they later discovered, was a wise move, because the fire was caused by a faulty electronic appliance. By the time they quenched the fire, it had already destroyed the visitor’s bedroom. However, the flames did not reach the kitchen, which had two large gas cylinders. A real blessing. My family came home to hear the good news: the fire did not spread to our house. Even better, Mr. Martins, the unfortunate neighbor, and his family would be moving out of the damaged house permanently. Their moving out brought an end to the nightmare that was Mr. Martins. You see, while others were busy with family devotion at 5:00am in the morning, this man decided that reggae music was the best way to start his own day. And he would play it at eardrum-bursting levels. Neighbors had called meetings, begged him, and some had even threatened him to no avail. “For the amount of money I pay as rent in this house, I can play anything I like, whenever I like.” That was his defense. So when Mr. Martins and his family left our neighborhood, we celebrated. But if we had known who was coming in his stead, we might have been less jubilant. For months, the house remained vacant and no effort was made to repair the damage. However, one Saturday morning, we woke up to the noise of a bull-dozer knocking down the entire structure. As we later learned, someone was interested in that property, but that someone did not like the architecture of the house as it stood. So, the house was knocked to the ground, and a new, ultra-modern, more-pleasing-to-the-eye structure was erected in its place. One month after its completion, the new owners moved in. It was the boy I saw first, a smallish, big-headed, weak-looking thing who was probably 9 years old. His name was Tokunbo, and I remember silently making another vow to myself never to marry a short man. He was the first to climb out of the car, followed by his sister, who was taller than him but was far younger. Her name was Omoyele, and even then, I thought she was beautiful. Lastly their mother stepped out of the car, but her voice had travelled ahead of her body as she harshly scolded the children for rushing out of the car before her. She climbed out of the passenger seat on the other side, while the driver waited in the car. We did not know they were the new owners until suitcases followed a few minutes later. It was then we knew they had come to stay. The owner of the house was Mrs. Kofoworola Williams, a successful business woman, but more so, a trouble maker who was used to getting what she wanted. Ever the social climber, she was the sort of woman whose feet rarely stayed at home. Once we became aware of these facts, it came as no surprise to us to learn that within a week of moving into our neighborhood, this woman had joined a local Pentecostal church two streets away. Not too long afterwards, all sorts of reports, gist really, began to reach our ears about Mrs. Williams and the dust she was raising in her church. To be clear, the gist first reached the ears of Rosemary our house help, who then fed the gist in juicy bite-sized morsels to my mother whose appetite for local gossip was legendary. While they were seasoning the chicken for lunch on Sunday afternoon, Rosemary launched into a detailed account of the latest thing Mrs. Williams had done in church that very morning. Apparently, after the church service, Mrs. Williams had marched to the Media Ministry’s booth at the back of the spacious church auditorium, and demanded to know why the camera man did not focus on her face, for even one minute, during the two-hour service. Facing Mr. Lasisi, the head of the ministry, who happened to be the only person available at the time she arrived, she said: “I pay my tithes and offerings here. So, why didn’t you show me on the telly?” “I don’t understand Madam,” said Mr. Lasisi, clearly confused. “Is that what you’re here for? Didn’t you come to worship God?” Waving away his questions, she said: “Look at me well well.” Mr. Lasisi who was already looking at her well well nodded his head and said: “Madam?” Then, she twirled around slowly, and repeated herself. “Look at me well well.” This time, Mr. Lasisi said nothing, but just stared. She continued. “You see me so? Am I not fine?” Mr. Lasisi was dumbfounded. Sensing that this was no ordinary church member, he decided to take a calmer approach. Lowering his voice by several decibels, he swallowed a bit, and said: “See, Madam, we are not here for–” “Oga, I said check me well well. Am I not fine?” At this point, Mr. Lasisi realized she was not trying to get an actual answer from him, but wanted him to listen to her. “Okay, Madam. I am hearing you.” A smile spread on her lips and then she said: “God bless you. Now, as I was saying, I am a fine woman. I don’t need anybody to tell me that. If you look me up and down–” and here, she tilted the well-manicured hand clutching the fuchsia purse at an angle and slowly swiped the air upwards and then downwards, to match the words “up and down,” before proceeding. “–You can see for yourself. See my dress. Is it not fine?” she asked, referring to the sleeveless shiny gray dress she wore, with its slight V-neck. It stopped slightly above the knee, showing off her long, toned legs. “Yes, Madam. It’s fine,” said Mr. Lasisi, his eyes appreciating first God’s creation, and then acknowledging the elegance of her dress. He had figured out that she didn’t want him to argue with her. Just listen. The sooner he did, the faster she could finish and eventually, leave. “Good. You get me,” she said with a smile before continuing. “Now, those people you show on the telly … or TV screen … Whatever you want to call it. Is their cloth finer than my own?” Without waiting for a response from her only audience, she responded with a booming, “No.” Then, she said: “I bought this hat –” she began, pointing with her clutch-wielding hand towards the elaborate fuchsia, wide-brimmed Sinamay hat elegantly placed on her head, “–from London, this shoe–” and here, she pointed again at the matching, pointed-toe, pink leather sling backs that adorned her dainty feet, “–from Italy, and this dress from Paris. You know what? That makes me international. I-n-t-e-r-n-a-t-i-o-n-a-l.” “So–” here she reverted to a little Yoruba for help, not caring whether or not the man who stood before he spoke or even understood a lick of Yoruba, “–e jowo, e dakun, show me on the telly. God bless you.” Mr. Lasisi who thought he had seen it all, but apparently hadn’t, responded with: “We will do our best, Madam. God bless you too.” That was the story Rosemary told my mother that afternoon, and by the time she finished relating what Mrs. Williams said to other people that same day, the pressure pot containing the seasoned chicken was hissing, signaling that the chicken was cooked and ready for stage two: frying. Stage three, of course, was stewing. By the time we sat down to lunch that afternoon, I decided one thing: I did not like Mrs. Williams, and I wanted nothing to do with her or her children. Diary of an Assistant Girlfriend. Please Note that this Story includes Mature +18 Contents. Feeling nostalgic, Dora Andy decides to pen down her experience with her first love Jack and the dark clouds of their one year relationship which eventually births a silver lining for the Andy’s but from the unlikeliest channel. Episode1 Hello diary, I’m Dora Andy and I’m sure you’re wondering at my brand of crazy to name myself an assistant girlfriend, stick a little longer and you just might find out. On a regular day, I’m the average girl next door who is just another face in the crowd because I’m not so popular or outstanding. The reason may be because of my plain Jane looks, neat but regular dressing with no laces and frills unlike all the other ‘girly’ girls. I’m more comfortable on baggy jean and jersey than skirts and gowns. I also detest heels with a passion. Another reason may be because I don’t like to talk too much, because i know for certain that along the line, people may try to probe deeper and get behind my reserved facade. Maybe I’m a little to wary of people getting close but I believe here’s a place to honestly and shamelessly pour my heart out. So what could be better to talk about on here, than the first time I fell in love and what went down with Jack. I’m usually the kind of girl whose emotions can easily be read on her face. Who isn’t pretentious about her feelings like most other girls are. I have all the good intentions and try to do things right. But things doesn’t seem to go right for people like me especially because not everyone is like me. I doubt Jack will ever find this, but i would love to express myself to someone thing other than myself and what other thing than you, dear diary. Why, you may wonder, am I so stuck to the past? Well, maybe its because I still cherish the memory of my love for someone who didn’t seem destined for me, even though we have never seen nor spoken since we went our separate ways. Or maybe its because I believe there’s always two sides to a story and despite all that happened, I deserve a chance to state exactly how things happened without fear or prejudice. So I will lay how it all went down 5 years ago so you will understand all of it dear diary 3:00am June 15, 2016 Continue With Episode 2 on Campus Verve https://www.campusverve.com.ng/2019/11/story-assistant-girlfriend.html

In a bid to support local fashion designers, back in 2017, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, an Award-winning author, launched a “Wear Nigerian Campaign,” where she decided to dress in Nigerian brands in all her public appearances. The motive of her campaign was to sensitize and encourage people to buy from both upcoming, as well as established designers, in order to boost local trade and manufacturing. Adichie announced her new venture via her Facebook page where she wrote… “IN THE PAST FEW WEEKS, I’VE BOUGHT MORE NIGERIAN BRANDS THAN I EVER HAVE IN THE PAST. I’VE DISCOVERED NEW NAMES. I’VE BEEN FILLED WITH ADMIRATION FOR THE WOMEN AND MEN RUNNING THEIR BUSINESSES DESPITE THE MANY CHALLENGES THEY FACE. I’M PARTICULARLY INTERESTED IN ‘INWARD-LOOKING’ BRANDS, THOSE FOR WHOM DRESSING NIGERIAN WOMEN IS AS IMPORTANT AS OTHER GOALS.” Nigeria is a fashion powerhouse not only on the African continent, but globally. Numerous Nigerian fashion designers have won accolades for their exemplary work and roles in showcasing the Nigerian spirit, culture, and diversity. These 10 fashion designers are, no doubt, the trendsetters putting Nigerian and African fashion on the international map. EpisodeOneJolami moved round the King sized bed in her room. She had been meeting someone else since our last argument. I could trace the clear linesof betrayal and disloyalty in her eyes which had suddenly become pale.I moved closer to her to caress her as usual not minding her current emotional state, but she stepped backwards and fell on the bed, deliberately spreading herlegs apart."Abbey, please come to me. Make me a woman", Jolami said without thinking what would happen after." Jolami, you're already a woman. Seventeen years is not a day's journey. I have decided to make it asurprise for you. Please be calm and bear with me. It's just for our own good. Okay, let me be very frank with you. On your birthday next month, we would make love to itsfullness"."That was how you promised the last time even on my last birthday too. Abbey, I can not bear this anymore. This is the seventeenth time you are letting me down", she said carelessly trying to put her legs together."If you don't give in this time, I'd be forced to quit this relationship! For heaven's sake! I'm starving and missing out. Virtually all my friends arenot new to this thing. In fact, I'm leaving. When you're done, meet me in the living room".Jolami stood up, adjustedher skimpy dress which had hiked up above her thighs and headed for thedoor. I quickly followed her and held her by the hand and made her turn to face me."Jolami, you know I can not do without you. I'll do anything for you, but...""Plus this one. Make me feel like a woman please! Are you not a man?" Jolami interrupted loosening my hand from hers."It's not that I cannot do this but.."Jolami pushed me and I fell softly to the bed and she climbed nimbly on mychest. I thought I had seen enough until she reached for the zip of mytrousersand undid it. Andwe made love.************I opened my eyes and found Jolami sleeping right beside me. She was completely naked and shamelessly uncovered. The deed was done. This was what she wanted andwe eventually got it.I wouldn't deny too. We enjoyed it. I enjoyed my very first sex and it was a wow! It was cheap and gotten on a platter of goldwith the very lady my heart loves and resonateswith. The love of my life and 'mine'everything. So this is how interesting the 'sex'we were warned of is.Sex is indeed sweet!Still lost in thoughts, I felt cold on my right side and when I checked the bed on which we were, there was blood, Jolami's Hymen had broken. I touched it and it felt cold and sticky.Jolami was faithful. She had kept herself intact forme. What a honour! I felt honoured and dignified. I wanted to wake her up and thank her but I noticed another thing. It was past twelve that night."What! We had had sex for 3 hours!""Is anyone in?" I asked Jolami as I tapped her leftarm."Yes, Mum and Dad are athome. But their room is upstairs. They can not know you're in here. They rarely check on me in my room and if they do, my room is big enough for you to hide".Suddenly there was a knock on the door as if it was planned. I didn't needJolami to tell me where tohide myself. I picked up my dress and ran stealthily to her bathroom. Then the door cracked open.. *********** It was a dream.I woke up sweating profusely, Soaked with my own sweat. © Philip Vincent Abayomi |

According to posts, reactions, comments and various observations of students who partook in the just concluded OAU 2017/2018 Admission Screening Exercise, many candidates have expressed displeasure on how the examination was conducted and how their results looked like. A candidate (name withheld), said he sat for the examination on Saturday, 23rd September, 2017 and there was delay before the examination commenced and gave other complains about the computer systems used at the CBT centers on the Obafemi Awolowo University Campus. It was also noticed that some computers went off during the conduct of the examination and candidates had to start all over again. There was also some candidates that had questions repeated twice on their screens and many questions were incomplete. After, the examination, results were released on Monday, 1st October, 2017 at about 5:45pm and many candidates that checked their results saw confusing marks, especially candidates that wrote on the first day, that is, 23rd September. Some candidates were not awarded marks in some subjects, many were given zeros to subjects in which they saw a question repeated twice. How could that be possible? The plea of the students is that the school should look into this and kindly help us sort things out or arrange another test. |
It was a sunday afternoon. I was walking back home from church. The thought of the group discussion at church still plundered my mind. The discussion was actually more than a debate but a free-for-all. As I strolled down the street that led to mine, I saw someone. A friend I met at a party. "Hullo! How are you?" Justina asked as she stretched her right hand for a shake. I stared at her for some seconds and smiled. We had met at a birthday party last year and here we are again, on the same street. Our meeting at the party was quite brief but I believed fate was responsible for our meeting today. "Afternoon, I'm doing fine" -was my reply. From her appearance, I perceived she was returning from church. She was gorgeously robed in what I thought was probably an anniversary attire. "Can we have tea at my place?" Justina asked with a smile plastered on her face. Here was it ! I was very tired though, but just decided to honour the tea-invite. The walk to Justina's house was quite tiring but when we got in and started talking, it got better. She later excused herself and went to the kitchen.I quietly slipped into the larger sofa in the room and shut my eyes. Minutes later, I got a tap on my shouldr and I needed no much thinking as to what it meant. I moved towards the dining-table to eat. The dining-table was not properly arranged and so Justina was trying to put it in order and serve me. I was like, ehnn What's the food in there? Thank God I was served rice -a light staple food. I didn't want to eat much because I will still walk home...but something triggered me towards doing so... As usual, the Aroma! The Aroma was interminable and unending. I was still eating when Justina adjusted the chair and sat to join me, taking care to anchor her billowing skirts securely beneath her legs as she settled beside me. I must confess that I liked the way she moved round the table to join me, graceful and confident, without any mincing, ladylike airs, and it was easy, too easy, to remember how perfectly our bodies had fitted together in the picture we took at the party. Justina with one hand, arranged the food skilfully into a little mound and shovelled it into her mouth with her grouped fingers. "I love your food. Thank you very much". I complimented. "The pleasure is mine" she spoke gently, shovelling another mound of food into her mouth. This time, I had no other option than to stare at her peristalstics. She raised her head and our eyes made contact...... I then shifted my gaze so as to prevent me gawking at her. lol... The charge I have for we ladies is that; in everything we do lets strive for distinction. Thank you! WATCH OUT FOR THE COMPLETE 'My Aroma Experience' series! The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disclosed that the UTME registration for foreign candidates will commence on July 10 along side Direct entry registration. According to Dr Fabian, “For the foreign candidates to be eligible to write examination in a foreign centre, you must have stayed in the foreign country for at least a minimum of six months. “You must have schooled there, you must have had your secondary education there; you must show evidence of having stayed there for period of six months. “If you have stayed in Nigeria and just fly to London to register, you are not eligible; you must have schooled or had your secondary education outside the country. “Not that you just finished Senior Secondary Certificate Examination in 2016, and you are rushing to the United Kingdom to go and write your examination,” Mr. Benjamin said. He noted that measures had been put in place to ensure that candidates who wrote the previous examination and failed were not registered in foreign countries, unless they meet the guideline. #JustOAU http://justoau..com/2017/07/jamb-to-commence-utme-registration-for.html |
This is to inform all OAU Aspirant that they can calculate their screening marks using UTME/ O'level 50:50 ratio utilised last year. *How to Calculate Screening Result 1. Both the UTME score and your O'level results' grades are computed to assess you. 2. For the screening, UTME result weighs 50% of your total score and the remaining 50% from your O'level results. 3. Your best 8 subjects are computed; With A1 = 8, B2 = 7, B3 = 6, C4 = 5, C5 = 4, C6 = 3, and so on. 4. Maximum points from your best 8 O'level subjects is 64 ( A1 = 8 X 8 subjects). 5. Your O'level points is then converted to 50% (Assuming y is your O'level points, then, it will now be calculated thus: y/64 X 50). 6. For your UTME points, it will be calculated thus: Your UTME score/400 X 50. 7. Your final merged score, which will be used for admission now = UTME points (maximum of 50) + O' level points (maximum of 50) = 100. All Aspirants are to note that no official cutoff mark have been released and the above calculation method was used last year and not guaranteed to remain this year. #JustOAU Like to share? http://justoau..com/2017/07/how-to-calculate-your-oau-screening.html |

Ok, today, I wish to speak for the guys among us, and I am going to be doing that real fine. Well, as a guy, you most likely wish to have the woman of your dreams, the girl that would stick with you through life's high and lows. But what are some adorable qualities you should look out for in the woman you want to make your special one? #Patient—patience is a virtue every woman must cultivate. A woman who isn't patient will never stay with you when things go rough, she is always expecting changes to happen now and now only. #Generous—how easily does she find it to give? I don't mean give to you, I actually mean giving to others? If she is tight-fisted, she will make life pretty rough for you after marriage. How would you feel if your wife has money but will never help you even when she knows you are dead broke? Well, I know it won't be funny. #Industrious— she must be productive too. Which of these qualities you look for in girls? http://philado..com/2016/05/qualities-of-healthy-relationship.html
