Romance / [OPINION]: Is Sunday The First Day Of The Week? by philad(m): 8:50pm On May 08, 2017
Religion, as with so many things passed down to us from antiquity, is
the reason the calendar week starts (for many of us) on Sunday.
Sunday, in Hungarian, means the market-day.
Market-day is generally considered to be the last day of the week.

However, Monday literally means "the head (or start) of the week".

Sunday is the day of the week after Saturday but before Monday. Sunday
is a day of rest in most Western countries, as a part of the weekend.

For most Christians, Sunday is observed as a day of worship and rest,
holding it as the Lord's Day and the day of Christ's resurrection. In
some Muslim countries and Israel, Sunday is the first work day of the
week. According to the Hebrew calendars and traditional Christian
calendars, Sunday is the first day of the week.

However, according to the International Organization for
Standardization, Sunday is the seventh & last day of the week

Literature / If You Miss Jamb Mock, Then You Won't Write The Main Utme By Philad Blog. by philad(m): 9:41pm On Apr 07, 2017
There is a line on the JAMB Mock Exam Printout that states that if you miss the JAMB Mock Exam on 8th April, then you would forfeit the actual UTME exams in May.

This notice is mainly for those, who indicated they wanted to participate in the Mock Exam earlier during Registration.

Did you also notice that condition on your own print out?

In as much as we would not want to believe that JAMB is serious about effecting that harsh penalty, we would want to encourage everyone, who indicated interest to write the JAMB Mock Exam, to make sure they are present at the venue and time for the Mock Exam, as indicated on the print out of the slip.
JAMB is obviously taking the Mock Exam seriously, and they expect that if you indicated an interest to participate in the exam, then you too should be serious about it.

JAMB may have set certain criteria, on maybe their handling capacity to conduct the 2017 UTME, and you may jeopardize the set threshold by not attending.

Health / Too Much Of Energy Drink Consumption Is Dangerous To Your Health By PHILAD BLOG. by philad(m): 10:45am On Apr 05, 2017
Nowadays, the common trend is the taking of energy boosting drinks.
People now prefer them to alcoholic ones...some do so to be on a safer
side...not knowing that the energy boosting drinks are more dangerous
when consumed in large quantities.

Excessive consumption of energy drinks could, among other things,
cause palpitations and high blood pressure.

Energy drinks are high in caffeine and they change the way the heart
beats, which can increase the risk of potentially fatal heart rhythm
problems.

Usually, energy drinks contain taurine and caffeine as their main
pharmacological ingredients and the amount of caffeine is up to three
times higher than in other caffeinated beverages like coffee or cola.

And, there are many side effects associated with a high intake of
caffeine, including rapid heart rate, palpitations, rise in blood
pressure and, in the most severe cases, seizures or even death.

Romance / Why You Should Marry From Your Tribe By PHILAD BLOG. by philad(m): 10:22am On Apr 05, 2017
I don't believe that our country should be divided along tribal lines.
But that being said, there are some advantages to marrying from your
side.

Don't get me wrong o: inter-ethnic marriages promote unity and
harmony.

Marrying a man from your ethnic group always strengthens the
relationship between the two families, except if they have a personal
beef. They understand each other's culture and traditions.

You don't have to worry about language barrier either. The entire
wedding ceremony would move along smoothly and easily, don't you
think?

Secondly, it ensures better communication between you two. You know
those moments when you wants to speak 'codedly' to your husband but
you can't because you can't speak each other's language? How
frustrating, except if you two have developed a private code.

Coming
from similar backgrounds allows the bond to run deeper.
