Let children be children. Another silly trend about to start |
Let us all remember that a horde of foreign nationals were caught recently doing online scam from a place in nigeria Traced to nigeria does not mean nigerian |
Those places do not deserve to be called universities They perpetuate the culture of toxicity in the work place and society, they eradicate free creative thinking raising minions and drones. it's simple abused people become abusers. If you have money, send your kids abroad, public universities in Nigeria are way better than the charlatans save a few |
I have studied this situation some more, The parents were not greedy, they only wanted better lives for their children. They were to be given gifts and scholarships, first come first serve basis.I think the scholarship part got to them. It's sad all around, no one could have anticipated that crowd.... that early... and the desperation.... sad all around |
Let's see how it plays out... for west Africa the real MVP has always been and is Nigeria. Nigeria is worth all of them combined multiplied by about 5. Know that and you start to wonder if they know what they are doing at all. Nigeria should not interfere at all, just please secure our borders by ALL means,(which it seems we are doing more now) and then watch.... patiently watch |
DrBrainstorm:It wasn't just the wars, it was the scramble for scientists after the war and the main question of the source of their science.... |
Sad you all didn't know that the major advances in science globally happened over a very recent period in history, like over the last 100 years thereabout, specifically post world war 2 The exact source of the tech is also still in contention, and for this black children denigrate their history....this is self hating at its peak. Technology everywhere is borrowed or reinvented... give a black child the knowledge and enviroment from childhood and watch him outperform any race, ... |
Lastly I don't hink the call should be for them to be set free without a trial, that's disrespectful to those that died and their families, the call should be that they can be granted bail while the case goes on till the crimes are ascertained. Remember not only the ex queen was arrested, and in truth there may have been horendously poor planning somewhere in all these cases, like I said, the full information is not in public, so no one should be hasty in making conclusions. |
Ishilove:The problem again has been that there has been no official version of the timeline of what and how it happened in public, so majority of what the public knows is rumor based, I am yet to see in full detail anywhere of how 35 children were stampeded to death, majority is heresy and that's really disturbing |
A major problem with this disaster is that a new precedent is been set in Nigeria.Where anyone can be arrested for been associated with an event without clarity or complete honesty on the purpose of the arrest Have people actually read the charges against the woman? I've been searching for what exactly makes the accused culpable, so others can learn from it... but Going by the charges in court .... it's still not clear, cos I don't think it will be easy to proove. Plus those charges look like something that will be struck out or lost eventually with a good lawyer so why detain them till then when they are not a flight risk... ? Lastly, what do we need future organizers to learn from this (police wise, I mean what does the police want future organizers to know so as not to be culpable, the fact that stampedes happened in at least 3 different areas in Nigeria and kids were involved, means everyone needs to adjust their planning to the times)... .so what makes an organizer culpable? Or what makes it that if a stampede such happens before or during said event Organizere can be arrested Is it that organizers are responsible for security at the venue 24 hrs ahead, and after, or "have ambulance service nearby", or hire professional or certain number of security support in large teams for crowd control set to the population you are expecting, could there be a set standard for this, and would this be the police responsibility so inform police ahead? what exactly is the action point that makes organizers liable to be arrested should the crowd go haywire which is a likely Nigerian thing... Abuja and anambra may have been prevented if those were addressed clearly , and the recommended action I recalled after all then ,was to take police approval before such giveaways. it is a sad thing to see children die, not just 1 but many, very sad, and it must NEVER happen again in our land...it is also sad to see good men in jail for doing good that went bad, let's all know how to ensure this never happens again |
TopBanter:I cite the us response to the Boston marathon bombing and stampede that followed. This too was a disaster level incident. |
We should also add Nigerians should be engaged and take some responsibility for their own safety too, if a place is getting crowded, please leave immediately. If you can't leave start to coordinate yourselves by yourself till you can find a way out or things get better organized Nigerian are unruly, this is an opportunity to address this collectively, especially were there are children, lastly this is not about poverty only, it's about dignity... the yorubas say how a person will behave when he is rich, commences when he is poor, Even the poor too should start to set standards for safety , it's only the person that's alive that gets to hope for a better future. May the souls of those that passed rest in peace and their families get fortitude to bear the loss May organizers learn from this so it never happens again in our land |
This is not the piece we asked for, we asked for what happened, why and how it happened, what was done and how to prevent it and what exactly makes organizers culpable in that situation, this information is needed as per each stampede incident. If this was done as regards the ibadan incident on Wednesday, perhaps the abuja and anambra organizers could have learnt a thing or two from it thereby preventing the other stampedes and their subsequent arrest And before anyone says wrongly again that the authorities owe no one any statement, please remember these were disaster level incidents in some of the cases, responders were overwhelmed... Let us bring to our recollection the response of the US to the Boston marathon bombing, there were statements immediately after and subsequently.... Times have changed and obviously the requirement for charity as changed too, 3 stampedes in succession is no coincidence, I ask again what happened and what makes organizers culpable so everyone actually learns from this and lives get to be saved in future |
Also to be clear, 35 children dying is a disaster.... There should have been a report and press briefing on what happened, how it happened, why it happened, what was done about it and how it can be prevented in future The fact that 2 other large scale stampedes happened in quick succession makes it more important than ever This is the most important information to be shared now to prevent such occurrences, not just that some people have been arrested, and everyone is relying on rumors for what happened. I don't get why that is not clear. NO ONE wants to see any other stampede or deaths due to stampedes at charity events or any event, but obviously the planning and logistics too will need to be different than before. what needs to be done differently, why is no one addressing that? |
TopBanter:Investigations occur before persons are arrested and charged to court, You are right they do not need to share the finest details of the case but in a case such as this, the public will know the charges and why. Example is the famous p Diddy case, you can read the charges, so how is that asking for too much before you arrest priests and Co also for stampede at their events.... remember this is not just about the ex queen,it's about precedent been set right before our eyes It's about what do organizers need to do in future not to be culpable By your logic we will have to wait for the end of the tediously long Nigerian legal cases to get the answer, during which they will probably be locked up, how does that help future event plannere 2. It's a obligation not to me but to the public to ensure justice is been seen to be served, right now that is not very clear, there is a looot of doubt in that matter 3. Let us all remember those that have actually experienced stampedes at their distribution of items in the past, there are media records to that effect, remember the outcomes of this situation this time will also establish retrospective guilt for those that may have been overlooked So my question again, what exactly makes them eligible for arrests and continued detention |
Meanwhile from everything inside this write up the only thing op saw is palace addresses ex queen by her father's name... some people are not well at all |
Till now we are yet to hear any official version of what happened, yet arrests were made... charges were drawn up. Based on what now... The fundamental issue is not just if they should have been arrested or not, it's what really happened... How we refuse to be accountable in this country beats me,,, arresting people just like that and locking them up is not justice...justice is a response to what trully happened,so what happened really how did 35 children die at an event... how can we prevent this if we don't know, how do we establish guilt... how ? |
The palace has established this was not her first time hosting such an event, they have showed tacit support bringing her good deeds to the limelight, her mother says she's been doing this for 10years.... that is dedication to a cause... what was different this year, what went wrong, Something was different because the same factor repeated itself in 2 other different regions, that's the true answer we must seek to establish if crimes were perpetuated... I'm concerned there may have been a Nigerian factor that overwhelmed these benefactors this time, like who anticipates people throwing children over a fence... We must not let evil thrive and good people become overwhelmed by wrong actions of a multitude... the police investigation should help us all establish what trully happened and not just another set of random arrests of all involved , Nigeria should rise and be better by holding ALL accountable, this includes attendees of such events in future |
And they want investors to take oyo seriously... instead of them to leverage on their proximity to Lagos to grow their childrens future |
Lastly we also need the stories of the victims and the effect of this debacle on their lives, I have heard one or 2 really sad ones... the media should help with this so we don't brush aside their pain or grief Also to serve as a clarion call and social reminder to all that plan to do give aways in future that it must be done responsibly, that no cost must be spared to ensure the safety and well being of those who participate, and new social rules may need to be enacted because people's lives and families are at stake in the matter |
HitRun:You are very correct, Investigations should have been conducted before detention....investigations would have come out with a clear report... This same catholic church is said to do so many charity works, regularly over the course of the year, they pay hospital bills for those who cannot pay and many others, what was different about their charity this year that led to the stampede.... That question should have been answered before the police detains anyone for a crime. Our police force needs to rise up to better standards for arrests and detention They should let those people be while a thorough investigation is ongoing, thereafter they can then show where a crime has happened and arrests culprits or those responsible with evidence.... |
Muric commenting on this is a hypocrite... did they ever call for arrests of organizers of events that had stampedes at Muslim celebration such as the eid give aways, or for the Nigerians that died in foreign land stampede during religious obligations? His call for arrests must extend there too now, sebi what is good for the goose... It is true we must seek justice in the land, but it must happen with a background of a detailed clear investigation and clear findings before arrests are made, so it is clear to all that justice happened or is happenning |
While at it have there been stampede from eid that led to deaths in some or any states in the past, how were those resolved... Standards, this is about the police finally setting standards for all to understand expectations... Arresting and detaining people without investigations and reports cannot be right, what was different about this year's distribution and what should they have done.... This is also an opportunity for the police to issue out guidelines for palliative distribution, I seem to recall I read it was said palliative should not be distributed without security this December, was this issued before of after the incident? Where there security persons there... as per standards who do we blame when the crowd overwhelms responders or service providers, what does the law say |
Meanwhile have you seen Nigerians rush busses... |
The real conversations are starting to happen 1. These high profile organizers are not a flight risk so could they have been made to visit the police while investigations are ongoing? Rather than outright reminding them if this was the case... not sure of their status as per arrests 2. The purpose of this is to ensure standards are defined for responsibilities in charity and not to stop them, so if someone sends money to the village for goodwill and there was a stampede, does that make him or the end organizers candidates for detention? What are the expectations 3. Let us remember this is the same nigeria that enables a stampede and beats up fire fighters on rescue mission, despite having no relevance or need to be at the venue of the fire and this they say happens despite police escort 4.the police should help define what and when and at what point the responsibilities of charity with challenges such as this makes a man culpable, so everyone knows what to avoid, while at it remember the poor also need help, what are the standards globally for cases such as this |
While we are at it, was it true that people threw their kid's over the fence... How did they plan to address crowd control? Did they have any plans ,were they implemented? The fact that they planned to host 5000 people in a small place makes the organizers questionable to an extent..... but what were their plans.? They may have thought people would come and go in batches, and prepared for up to 5000 coming in and out, was there security? what really happened? 35 kids died so this must be thoroughly investigated, and new guidelines developed for hosting public events so it never happens again. The fact that it happened in 3 different regions means we need to adapt fast... and the police investigation is crucial to addressing this. These are questions the police investigation must answer clearly.... |
They should also clarify if the donors and all organizers of the maitama and anambra fiasco were also arrested, let us remember that the abuja one cost 21 injuries, and 10 died so far. By that logic, those too must have been poorly organized Let us remember sarakis annual food sharing and it's antecedent incidents... last I checked he is still walking free My point is the police should conduct a thorough investigation before remanding people in Agodi, and the same standards for culpability MUST apply to all. It's a FEDERAL police so the standards must be seen to be the same so everyone actually learns from it and understand what the expectations are in future Anything short of this is witchhunting |
This is sad, Who were those directly responsible for the event planning Event planners need to understand that when it comes to children you can't be too careful,Check and double check everything.... This particular case needs indepth investigation so we all learn from it. That said did the ex queen hire event planners for this? It was poorly managed, very poorly managed, it's a lesson for the rich to hire professionals and make them sign contracts that protect you and make them take responsibility legally for the event For the record, the ex queens intentions were those befitting of a queen, if only it was better managed. Condolences to all that were bereaved in this matter. |
Now we know the terrorist sympathizers in the north As much as possible everyone and every bussiness that isn't in support of terrorism should boycot the airline Nigeria should quickly open up the routes they run to other airlines |
She missed her diplomacy lessons, very unbecoming of a leader, meanwhile her inferiority complex is screaming out loud for all to see. In summary she's using her position of influence to SOW discord with her mouth This one will sink ships with her mouth Again the yorubas have described her type as an outsider aka omo ale... to think she's related to Awolowo somehow, that's the real shame, Shameful indeed |
When they tell you not to rely on chat got for your work ,you will not listen ..that is how adadevoh invented what again... Blood transfusion systems... Chat got does not mean it's peer reviewed,or validated, please take note before sharing |
Looks like a PR post to launder her image, too late, we see her for who she is... the yorubas of old describe her type as the-omo ale to fi owo osi Juwe Ile baba e... translated, the bastard that described his or her father's house with the left hand..... and that is what it is... omo ale on the beat... she doesn't faze us , not one bit.. we rise! |
