PoliticsRe: ''Our Companies See Improved Nigerian Investment Relations'' - German President by phineas: 7:28am On Dec 12, 2024
Germany is a quiet world giant that is finally waking up

Looks like their finally putting things in place quietly for global
relevance in education, trade and recognition... Germany is finally connecting with the world in many ways... and becoming the go to place for the global community in many ways

Nigeria should sign great deals that opens up their space for our people in trade , employment, education and technology,

That said Germany makes very good products ,they should just work more on their racist tendencies
CultureRe: I Am A Descendant Of Oranmiyan, Prince Of Ile-Ife - Oba Of Benin (Video) by phineas: 9:58am On Dec 11, 2024
I hope you all know there were no cars in those days and people routinely trekked long distances, it was not a big deal. People trekked from lagos to Benin, lagos to ife and it took weeks .only the rich and warriors had horses.I heard stories of how our grandparents sourjened between cities in the west on foot routinely

The fulani still do it so we know it's possible

My point is, no one in the past will consider ife to benin or osun to ife a great distance.

Oduduwa came from somewhere trully faraway with a lot of follwers and met a great kingdom already populated with people...the king of ife was a prince of said oduduwa.

The most irritating part for me is the nerve to dare to shame African men proud of their traditions on their own turf... the nerve indeed.... immature clown.. I could go on ....
RomanceRe: Why Do Nigerian Men Wear This Rubbish On Dates? (photo) by phineas: 9:45am On Dec 11, 2024
The OP must mean not to be worn for dates in the UK... I can imagine anyone in Lagos and Abuja dressing like her preferred candidate in the pictures would be profiled and arrested as a yahoo boy before they get to the destination of the said date.

Akata people should stick to their foreign traditions and let those of us on the mothers hip stick to our culture and tradition here. Classy and mature in Africa includes a classy type native to a date ( such as the one above)

Tennis shoes of any type by a responsible adult man to a serious meeting or date profiles you as immature, and disrespectful of traditions and culture, another way to put it is " not in tune with cultural expectations" in summary irresponsible and immature which one will expect from a fraudster incapable of taking himself or anyone for that matter seriously.

And yes it's our everyday wear here not for weddings and church only, now get-out and go and shame your fellow akata men with their weird and immature way of dressing. Don't be a Self hating African child.

The accuser must produce his proof, and have his day in court, the case must be fast, if he cannot provide irrefutable evidence,he must face the full wrath of the law,so others don't tow his path as he is setting a dangerous precedence.....

Ade has contributed too much to Nigeria to be charged falsely.... We are all watching

Where did he get 10 million pounds from... Just where.... Even the most successful lawyers in the UK do not personally own 10 million pounds
You all know nothing about your country...nothing

Do you know anything about Ade babalolas philanthropy over the last 4 decades,

Afe babalolas buildt the entire nuclear medicine department in ibadan then for 500million naira, when dollar was below 150 to a naira, that's how people with cancer could start getting medical treatment with radiotherapy for the first time in a large part of the entire country

He donated so much to many tertiary institutions in Nigeria, large sums of money for their development.he did these quietly without fanfare, but they were in the news

He has left a legacy of work,I'm sure you all don't know how much such legal minds charge in Nigeria for cases, ask how much gani used to charge too...(Not the pro bono cases).

My point is the Nigerian business and professional space is not as poor as you all think it is.And this man is known for philanthropy to schools and universities
PoliticsRe: Sokoto Bandits Slit Throats Of 9 Vigilante Members After Kidnapping Their Wives by phineas: 4:19pm On Dec 03, 2024
Are there good people in that State, they should get those women out.

Their husbands died for defending the people, their family should not suffer for it while the bandits live in peace with the women in perpetual torture

Whoever has any power in the matter should use it for good for the sake of those women.

RealGandalf:
Una just dey display too much stark illiteracy. Is kidnapping not happening in Lagos, the entire southwest and all over Nigeria?

It doesn't happen always in Kogi State. Many times, it is people from neighbouring states that pepertrate the act.
This is denial on a whole new level,I can't believe the audacity.... Kogi is synonymous with kidnapping, people with means don't travel Abuja to Lagos by road because of primarily the KOGI axis, how does passengers from a whole luxurious bus get kidnapped with no State response. Even Ondo would have sent amotekun. Lagos would have sent out choppers....

The same Kogi dares to host a so called international carnival.... That's a joke and a scam.international indeed
PoliticsRe: Opeyemi Bamidele: 5 Key Takeaways From The Tax Bills by phineas: 7:56am On Dec 03, 2024
A reminder again to leave all matters that increase personal income tax and VAT out of this matter. Nigerians and Nigerian businesses need a break not increased taxation

Whatever they want to do with VAT collected does not concern me

But let's all know it pays the poor masses to have VAT collected and disbursed in each State and LGA that way host communities will respect income generating ventures in their community, jobs will also be created
EventsRe: Kogi International Carnival Flag-Off: Highlights And Pictures by phineas: 6:51am On Dec 03, 2024
Kogi and international carnival in one sentence. That's an oxymoron.

Which international clown does not take his life and brand seriously to go to or send teams to kogi for a carnival?

Was it not this week an entire luxurious bus was kidnapped? They should be deceiving themselves. Tourism is not their thing, they should address their insecurity by their boys first, full stop

The person who opened this thread should be identified and arrested.

The police should do the needful,it's inciting violence against the police online.the police should be able to make arrest that protects it's team,it's not only when they attack them physically. This one is more damaging as he's promoting a negative culture outrightly....and getting others to endorse it

Their existing deal with France was a pre colonial one,it was very very bad,it was in their interest to cut it off,but I think they went about it the wrong way.... I mean they are still spending cefa backed by France cbn, that's how you know they are clowns with no knowledge of international politics

No country or individual can sign such useless deal in this day and age, except they cannot read or they are very dense.
PoliticsRe: Tax Reform Bills: Tinubu Under Fire In Northern Nigeria by phineas:
The allocation aspect of bill is good for northern Nigeria and the country,

It's simple they have to request every business sorts out their VAT collected and pay to them, they would need to have local offices in their states, that's more employment for their people. The north does not know that the biggest business earners in Nigeria actually have significant northern presence.

But they have no or few moribound physical offices in the north. This will bring jobs for northerners....

I'm summary the northern masses are fighting the wrong battle, back this up and watch your governors drag those businesses and their management back to the north.
PoliticsRe: Tax Bills: I'm Neutral But Suspicious About The Rush To Pass Them - Dawisu by phineas: 6:56am On Dec 02, 2024
Buccalcavity2:
Please read the bill. The bill is not adding any new tax, rather taking away several taxes and streamlining the main tax. It exempts tax payment for the vulnerable, reduces for the middle class and increases for the elite. It reduces CIT (that's for the elite) and exempts tax payment from production.
The only part of increasing VAT is even in the future not in the immediate.
Why not now?
I don't care what the country does with it's federal allocation structure, mine is now is not the time to increase any business tax. Businesses are struggling, it's also not the time to increase personal income tax for any cadre of Nigerians, EVERYONE in Nigeria has taken a PAYCUT and it's continuing on every side, salary for staffs have increased etc even the rich are humans too....
PoliticsRe: Nigeria, France Sign MOU On Critical Minerals (Pictures) by phineas: 6:52am On Dec 02, 2024
Lastly you all should stop comparing Nigeria to Mali and burkinafaso, a state in Nigeria is more organized and has more self awareness than those people.

Have you seen their so called generals dress up and speak in the public space...those are the people that make them call Africa backward.... Not Nigeria
PoliticsRe: Nigeria, France Sign MOU On Critical Minerals (Pictures) by phineas: 6:50am On Dec 02, 2024
Excellent choice....

This is great in my opinion as long as France does not put stupid neocolonial clauses in the contract which Nigeria should be smart enough to detect.

That is clauses like we will march into that country if our business interests are been threatened.... This historically has been their signature, but then.....

What is good about this is using the cat to guard the mouse, if they were truly involved in northern extremism has suspected by some, they would be able to curb it, 2. If it's truly the Chinese allowing illegal miners and not protecting the communities, then they need a counter that can take action

Nigeria has too many resources that has made it's people unsafe,Nigeria should come up with strategies to prevent illegal mining,as they are been mined anyway at the cost of the peace of local communities.

That's why a large proportion of Nigerians still use the bdcs
PoliticsRe: Tax Bills: I'm Neutral But Suspicious About The Rush To Pass Them - Dawisu by phineas: 2:56pm On Nov 30, 2024
My take.

Leave all matters of personal income tax and company tax out of the bill for now,Nigerians and Nigerian companies are just trying to survive right now,it's not the time to increase income tax, just because one earns 2million a month, so deductions now become 600k when rent has increased, fuel has increased and food, sfees all bills etc

Adding more taxes to smes that are classified as earning 150 million a year will only drive the costs to the same consumers,it's like the people are not poor enough or struggling enough

When you successfully wipe out the middle class what's left in the country, who is buying other people's good and services

My point is not now, this cannot be the stimulus people really need,a feeling goverment will not do this, every extra naira matters to people till the damage on the fuel and dollar is undone

The bill can focus on the sharing formula.
PoliticsRe: Tinubu: Mali, Burkina, Niger, Chad, Senegal Ended Ties With France - Shehu Sani by phineas: 5:16am On Nov 30, 2024
I have a key suspicion of what the benefits may be,it's long term and only a leader like tinubu can pull it off.

The key is the establishment of Nigerian banks in France. Ask yourself how french products ran the streets in Nigeria for a long time with no competition and the prices were cheap. Who benefitted the most and how can nigeria benefit directly from such arrangements in the future....

How can nigeria benefit from an economic relationship with France....what is the volume of our real trade with them or what items are of potential value to us that France has. Think Saint Louis sugar of back in the day and now... think energy,France is the power house of alternate energy...

Lastly we are sorrounded by dumb hostile anti nigeria and anti France nations in the north, classic case of the enemy of my enemy is my friend... no permanent allies or enemies here. Only interests

This is not a lame move, that I'm sure...we just need to keep reminding ourselves and our leaders, that Frances historical relationship with Africa and Haiti has been vampire like parasitic.and not to agree to their foolish clauses such as,

1. To set military boots on a sovereign soil when Frances bussiness interests are threatened... that was the basis for invading Libya

2. To collect the value back or destroy everything they contributed when the agreements end or are terminated .... like they did in Haiti and some other places

That said nigerias association with France is something we should all keep a close eye on.. please what have we agreed to with France, someone please use the FOI bill.

That may not be totally true. Nigerians are actually paying more than this because there are all manners of uncoordinated illegal taxes which Nigerian are forced to pay by touts, local government and state government. Infact, nobody knows how much tax we pay in Nigeria. It is going to be a tough job for government to stop some of these taxes all over the country but if we make efforts, we might start having some level of sanity and some of these taxes could then be legitimised and a proper framework put in place to administer them. But my brother, it will require great efforts. Majority of taxes paid by Nigeria currently goes to individuals and not government.
They should seek business owners input on that aspect of the deal, and their desire to tax those with 100,000,000 million annual inflow up to 30 percent. let people breathe...

Do you run a business? Do you know how tough people find it to set a fair price on products and services, and then now add 15 percent on it?.

When they started their enforcement some years back with interest on arrears on VAT,people simply abandoned their business account. Now I know the tax boys will go for all accounts, summary is to abandon the business of it isn't profitable anymore.

Do you know the volume of businesses waiting for dollar to drop? Now some clowns want them to find a way to increase the money they collect so they can pay VAT... Nigerians need a break.
PoliticsRe: The Layman’s Understanding Of The Proposed Tax Reform Bill by phineas: 10:19am On Nov 29, 2024
Do not tax individuals or businesses more than the present rate, regardless of their income. Everyone rich and poor in Nigeria need a break right now and not increased taxation

A responsive Goverment will be thinking of reducing taxes not increasing any form of tax in the country, lots of businesses not even paying VAT are hanging by the thread...

You all should check clearly what does this mean for individuals and businesses
PoliticsRe: Tinubu’s Tax Bills Pass Second Reading At Senate by phineas: 3:13pm On Nov 28, 2024
If VAT truly becomes 15%, companies that are actually paying might as well start closing up.

God bless our military, this is one of the most significant regional military endeavors. It's not only wars that should bring our military in africa together.

Since time immemorial foreigners have used the guise of such activities across nations of the world to get to know the ranks and files of military for "should the need arise" stakeholder type engagements for different purposes.

I'm glad Africa is promoting this same strategy to unite our military amicably and not on account of wars and disputes.

See how we all know trump will not fully support Ukraine cos of his ability to engage putin....we have renewed hope of dialogue in that matter cos of their existing cordial relationship.

That's the potential power of these kind of engagements for Africa, in future some cross border issues may be resolved with just a phonecall amongst military brethren

As for those asking how this solves hunger, how mundane can you be? the inability to see greatness when it lies just in front of you is why that hunger will continue to pursue some people.

Again may God bless and keep the great men and women of our armed forces, more of these please.
