It has become a kind of anthem for APC Supporters for crying to high heaven for marginalisation, persecution each time they're banned for their bad character. They makes it look as if they are the only ones suffering the fate. They behave as if nairaland belong to them. Yesterday, I replied an insult from APCian and got banned for 24 hours. Had it been the it happened to berem, ngeneukwenu, demdem, gbawe, donphilopus, kelsoft, barcanista, koboko69, egift, obiagelli, aresa, cramjonse, they would have opened a thread using one of their numerous monikers to insult the nairaland management. I beg my fellow comrades not be mimic their rantings and continue with our good behaviour.
With that we, we shall reach our destination.

Politics › No Automatic Ticket For Buhari, Others –APC. by PhockPhockMan(op):
The All Progressives Congress has said there will be no automatic ticket for a former Head of State, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) and other presidential aspirants in the party.

This was coming ahead the allegation that some leaders of the party had been planning to give automatic ticket to Buhari, a development that was said not to be favoured by Abubakar Atiku, Rabiu Kwankwaso and Senator Bukola Saraki’s groups within the party.

But the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the APC would not give automatic ticket to Buhari.

“We won’t give automatic ticket to anyone, including Buhari. It is not in our constitution. All the candidates will undergo primary,” Mohammed told one of our correspondents on the telephone on Sunday.

However, a senior member of the party told journalists in Abuja on Sunday that the manoeuvres by certain APC forces to make Buhari the party’s presidential candidate in 2015 without going through a primary was not going down well with Kwankwaso, Bukola and Atiku support groups. The three politicians are also interested in the APC ticket.

It was also gathered that the attempt to foist Buhari candidature on the party without following democratic process was likely to tear the party apart.

According to this informed APC insider, who didn’t want to be named because he had no authority to speak, however, admitted that any attempt to hoodwink other members of the party in the election of a presidential candidate would destroy the foundation and the credibility of the APC.

The informed insider said they were particularly worried by feelers from the Buhari camp who were insisting that the emergence of the former military ruler as a candidate “is a settled matter.”

Buhari himself was said to have expressed open disagreement with the modified open direct primary adopted by the APC.

That position was expanded upon by the spokesman for the Buhari Organisation, Osita Okechuku, who said, “Given all the indices, the APC already has a de facto presidential candidate in the person of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

“If you go through the constitution of the APC, under Article 20, it says for nomination of candidate either for party offices or presidential election, you first explore consensus.

“If an agreement is reached through consensus, it has to be affirmed. If we go through that method, though we have a lot of good quality people in the APC, I do not know of any person who the leadership of the APC would tell Buhari to step down for.”

According to the source, disregarding democratic process in the choice of party presidential flagbearer could drag the APC into deep “and possibly irreparable political damage.”

He explained that the idea of “automatic adoption” of Buhari or any other aspirant for that matter was undemocratic and would be resisted.

The APC source warned that party members should not be reduced to “slaves and sheepishly expected to sign the dotted lines when confronted with the nauseating idea of automatic ticket.”

The APC insider said those scheming for “automatic ticket” for Buhari “ were probably the PDP fifth columnists who want to drive a nail into the APC coffin.”

A spokesperson for the defunct Congress for the Progressive Forum, Mr. Rotimi Fashakin, however, defended the plan to give Buhari automatic ticket.

He said of all the aspirants, only Buhari had the clout to defeat President Goodluck Jonathan during the 2015 presidential election.

He also said that since the APC was likely going to anchor its camping on the fight against corruption, he added that Buhari was the only candidate that the APC could use for the purpose.

Fashakin said, “Buhari is the face against corruption in the country. He is going to serve for only four years if he wins and we know he is not a corrupt person. Nigerians and the opposition know that it is only Buhari who can fight corruption in the country.

focus7: The last time I checked PDP operates doctorate degree in lying, from the presidency to the local level. Is it not a shame that pdp in their attempt to deny the obvious are blaming apc for their lack of integrity or is there no true to the claim that Jonathan is having romance with criminals and other enemies of nigeria? Thank God for photo journalism for the picture of Jonathan and Modu Sheriff they took together on the said trip otherwise pdp would have denied that Jonathan ever met with Modu Sheriff. I don't believe PDP claim that Ali Modu Sheriff did not make the entourage with Jonathan, that is their claim since no one is able to verify the claim, I won't believe what pdp tells me after many years of lying to the country.
It's hilarious to know that APC only discovered that Sheriff is a terrorist after he decamped to PDP.
So unfortunate.

The Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Sokoto state, Alhaji Rabi’u Gada, yesterday advised former Head of State Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.), to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) and join the PDP so as to salvage the country from the myriad problems bedeviling it.

Speaking in Sokoto, Gada said it had become necessary for Buhari to quit APC in view of the activities of anti-democratic elements in the APC. He noted with dismay that the APC has been hijacked by political jobbers; hence the need for Buhari to leave the party.
According to him, Buhari had laboured so much to build the party and as such his supporters should face the reality on the ground and hasten to decamp to PDP.

He described Buhari as a trustworthy person and competent enough to lead any organisation but lamented that the APC national leader found himself in the wrong company of individuals who are against the progress of the nation.
The Deputy Chairman pointed out that majority of those who know the value of Buhari such as Attahiru Bafarawa, Ibrahim Shekarau and Tom Ikimi were today in the PDP, adding that most of the APC leaders were without vision to lead.

Politics › Lying Is Apc’s Operational Creed, Says PDP by PhockPhockMan(op): 11:19am On Sep 14, 2014
By Chuks Okocha

The war of words between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) continued as the former has lambasted the APC for attempting to deceive Nigerians by issuing statements and sponsoring fabrications in the media to present former Governor of Borno state, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, as being in President Goodluck Jonathan’s entourage to Chad; knowing same to be completely false.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, in a statement on Saturday described as “repulsive and utterly despicable”, the refusal of the APC to shed its taste for lying, spreading of falsehood and attacks on individuals as means of achieving political control” in spite of several counsels by well-meaning Nigerians.

“Now that it has become incontrovertible that Senator Sheriff was not on the entourage of the President, we ask why the APC would release an issue of dishing out statements without cross-checking the facts or that of a desperate opposition party adopting the combination of lies, deceit and inciting of people as operational creed to hide its sinister agenda?”, PDP queried.

Stating that APC has again “displayed its lack of integrity and penchant for falsehood for which it has become repugnant to Nigerians”, the PDP said it was appalling that the opposition party has remained “a camp of dishonest lot whose statements cannot be trusted.”
“We invite Nigerians to note that APC’s statements are always laced with lies, unfounded allegations and fabrications. Recently, the APC issued a statement on the so-called Australian hostage negotiator, Stephen Davis only to be confronted with massive contradictions of facts with attendant controversy.
“We recall the shameful attempt to deceive Nigerians by accusing the PDP-led government of moving operatives of the DSS to terrorise the people of Osun state when in actual fact, the APC governor of Osun state also formally requested for their deployment ahead of the August 9 governorship election.

“Also the APC in June issued a statement wherein it alleged that a plane carrying Kano state Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso to attend its rally in Ekiti was denied landing permission in Akure, only for Kwankwaso’s Director of Press Affairs to announce that the governor was at another event in Kano and had no plans to travel to Ekiti state,” the ruling party stated.

Politics › Re: Buhari, Atiku Presidential Bids Split Apc. by PhockPhockMan(op): 9:00am On Sep 14, 2014
A high ranking member of the party who appears sympathetic to Atiku dismissed insinuations that the former Vice-President would be treated differently from other contenders because he was not a foundation member.

The member, who pleaded for anonymity because he did not want to be seen to be biased, told SUNDAY PUNCH, “The Constitution of our party does not discriminate against anybody,” he said.

It was learnt that supporters of Buhari were putting finishing touches to an internal campaign, which would be anchored on provisions of the party’s manifesto. The campaign would rely on the provisions of the 31-page party manifesto dealing with the issue.

Multiple party sources, confided in SUNDAY PUNCH, that the party hierarchy was already grappling with the daunting task of picking a flag bearer.

One of the sources said, “The leadership of the APC is aware that because of the early but illegal campaign, President Jonathan has locked down the South -South and the South- East.

“To counter this, we are looking for somebody who can lock down the North- West and the North-East.

“If things continue as they are today, the North-Central will be split between the APC and the PDP. If this happens, the South-West will then play the role of decider.”

Efforts to get comments of the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, on the impact of Atiku’s planned declaration on the party did not succeed, as he was said to have travelled to Dubai.

He had not responded to the email sent to him at the time of sending this report.

Politics › Buhari, Atiku Presidential Bids Split Apc. by PhockPhockMan(op): 8:59am On Sep 14, 2014
There are strong indications that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s plan to formally declare his bid for the All Progressives Congress presidential ticket is tearing the party apart.

SUNDAY PUNCH learnt in Abuja on Friday that Atiku’s plan to declare his ambition on September 24, 2014 had pre-empted other contenders.

Already Atiku’s announcement has split members of the party.

It was learnt that the announcement by the Atiku Campaign Group was considered by other contenders as hasty. They argued that the party had yet to release guidelines for its presidential primary.

Besides Atiku, other presidential aspirants in the APC include a former Head of State, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) and the Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

While Atiku’s supporters say he is the best candidate of the party, Buhari’s camp argue that Atiku cannot give President Goodluck Jonathan a good fight in 2015.

A former National Publicity Secretary of the Congress for Progressive Change and associate of the former head of state, Mr. Rotimi Fashakin, dismissed insinuations that Buhari would dump the APC should he lose the ticket, he said the party’s presidential primary should not be a matter of money.

He said, “General Buhari is going nowhere; he is a loyal party man. Any talk about Buhari leaving the party is balderdash.”

Fashakin said while it was true that Buhari left the All Nigeria Peoples Party, the circumstances which led to that decision no longer existed.

He explained that Buhari had done a lot to stabilise the APC, noting that the support Buhari enjoyed in the North was non-transferable.

According to him, supporters are of the view that Buhari stands heads above shoulders over other contenders.

He said “The APC will be the ultimate loser should its mandate become the subject of horse trading or a matter or naira and kobo.

“The party would have scored an own goal. He remains the only living Nigerian right now who can give Jonathan and the PDP a run for their money. Any other candidate the party puts forwards can easily be overrun by Jonathan.”

Also speaking on the issue, a Buhari supporter within the party hierarchy who pleaded anonymity, said, “Others may have more money, but if you look at the manifesto of the party, it says one of our cardinal programmes is to fight corruption and instil national re-orientation. Between Buhari and the other candidate, who is in a better position to do this?”

However, the Atiku campaign group does not appear to be bothered by the interest generated by the opposition from Buhari’s camp. The Director of the Atiku Media Office, Garba Shehu, in a telephone interview said his principal’s quest for the APC ticket and ultimately Nigeria’s Presidency was hinged on his desire to serve.

According to him, Atiku’s reach and connection within and outside the country makes him the best person for the job.

He said all the former Vice-President was seeking to do was to give back to the Nigerian society which gave him enormous opportunities.

Shehu said the Atiku campaign group had taken a conscious decision not to attack any aspirant bidding for the ticket and would run only issue-based campaign.

He said “You are not going to see us attacking any aspirant, because if we attack any aspirant, we will weaken the party; his conduct will be one of civility, and respect for each contestant. We are hoping that this will be about ideas. We need more aspirants within the APC to put themselves forward for election and Nigerians will choose who they want.”

Shehu noted that the assumption about other aspirants who had yet to declare was not a problem because the Nigerian Constitution does not say the first person to aspire automatically gets the ticket.

Shehu said, “Today, Abubakar ranks higher than most state governments in terms of job creation as the businesses he is involved in has served more Nigerians both directly and indirectly in terms of employment than even the government.”

CONTINUES.
