EducationRe: Can You Solve This Quantitative Reasoning? by Phoenix09:
You borrowed 50k from your Mum and dad each.
Total debt = 100k
Breakdown of your expenses:
Laptop: 97k
Loan repayment: 2k (1k each to your mum and dad)
Personal expenses: 1k
Total: 100k

If you subtract the 2k loan repayment from the 100k borrowed you have 98k debt left (97k for the laptop + 1k you spent = 98k) which corresponds to 49k each for your mum and dad.

Adding the 1k you spent is wrong because you never borrowed yourself any money so you can't classify it as loan repayment. It is an expense.

Hmm, I understand the OP's point, but do you know many young guys sleep with ladies that have had multiple sexual partners and are still successful.

Heck, in my former place of work, we work 3 times in a week. On off-days and weekends, the boss brings escorts to the office to sleep with them. He has a secret room he uses.

I know this because I used to sleep in the office during weekdays in order to maximize the meagre amount I was being paid.

And as much as I hate to admit it my former employer is successful. So how do you explain this?

Let's assume that Great's share is X

If Joy gets 40 less twice of Great's share, then Great's share is: 2X - 40

The total sum shared = 560

Thus: X + (2X - 40) = 560

X + 2X - 40 = 560

3X - 40 = 560

3X = 560 + 40

3X = 600

X = 200

So Great's share is X i.e 200 and
Joy's share is 2X - 40: = 2(200) - 40
= 400 - 40
= 360

Thus it can be seen that Joy's share is 40 less of 400 (twice of Great's share: 2 X 200) and the sum of Great's share (200) and Joy's share (360) gives 560.

Percentage of Joy's share is:
= 360/560 X 100
= 64.29%
