Spy360:

Actually I thought that Drinkwater's goal against Chelsea on that final day could have earned him a place in Euros- it was a screamer from 35yards against Courtois.

Again he wasn't competing against Wilshere in Hodgson's squad- Wilshere has a permanent seat, that's why Hodgson came to Emirates to watch him and even labelled him 'fantastic talent', Drinkwater was competing with the likes of Milner and Henderson, both of whom I think on a good day are better.

Drinkwater should have been taken over Wilshire who tends to be indisciplined in defending the middle of the park
Also he is injury prone and only played 4 games all season

Most women do not change...

They repay the husband in his own coins. If he treated her well when he was earning, chances are he will be treated well if he is not earning.

See the bold:

Irrespective,.... According to you
All women who mistreat their husbands are doing what they did to them too

No problem then

This here in bold is the reason y'all were coming at me in the first instance, and I figured that out as soon as TV started introducing children and productive citizens into the discourse. gringrin
What does criminalizing adultery have to do with raising productive citizens? grin

The argument is this:
People should/should not be sanctioned with jail terms or fines on account of infidelity.. simple!

Every other argument is as a result of TV trying to prove that infidelity should be sanctioned because a broken marriage is worse than a happy one (where people are coerced into staying married) with respect to raising productive citizens.

Consequently, you jumped in at this point to infer from my argument whatever it is you're now inferring probably due to some misconception you now carry around regarding what you perceive as a change in opinion. grin

I didn't opine anything, all I did was refute the claim that productive citizens can only come from a marriage/family unit, which is just not true when it comes down to reality - anyone who isn't blinded by a certain bias would definitely see this...lol

What you should be arguing is the sanctions on infidelity, not TV's linear tangent on how to raise productive citizens - the one you jumped on. gringrin

In your opinion which social arrangements is the optimal.one.for.raising children

Since you didn't answer my question, I will assume then that you wouldn't want to be married to someone who's only in it because she doesn't want to go to jail or pay a fine. lol..

How is this persisting on the negative?
This is covering all bases and exploring all options...thought you were into the sciences. cheesy

The answer to your question is neither until you specify the terms on which you rate a better society.

Society has more innovations today, more vaccines, more infrastructures, more explorations, people are getting more educated, etc etc.. There are too many ways in which society can be judged to be better now.

But I presume that what you're getting at is that there's less morality and value system - and on this account, I don't see how family/marriage is responsible for it.

Better still, you should specify what you use to judge 'a better/worse society'.

ok bro.. I hear

from your latest discourse, you opine that kids don't have to be raised in a marriage to provide well adjusted environments
So really there is no further need for this back and forth

All I have said is, "I believe in marriage and I believe that it is good, but don't create laws that will coerce/force me into remaining in one that no longer has a happy future". - I am not infallible, you are not infallible, TV01 is not infallible, Stillfire is not infallible... who died and made it a rule that all of us will love and stay true to the same person for the rest of our lives? cheesy

Do you all prefer staying married to someone who is only in it because he/she doesn't want to go to jail or pay a fine?

Yea, didn't think so.

Why do you persist on the negative

When marriage was more of a civil contract and not what it us now....was society better?

Yes or no

in reality, there's no happily ever after in any marriage... isn't that why clergies quote that "for poorer, for richer, for better, for worse, till death do us part" thingy....
the essence of getting married is to create a conducive environment to rear children.
Any one who breaks the marriage contract and puts the children's welfare in jeopardy should be sanctioned...
let the rules be clearly stated, if you cannot abide by them, then you shouldn't get married...

simple

I am still trying to get crackhaus point

all he has said is I believe in marriage and that is good for society but please let me break my obligations which I know is good undecided

back to the cult of 'self'

Mindfulness:

In the UK, which is not the entire West and not the rest of the world.

In some European countries the parents receive shared custody and the child lives 1/2 weeks with the father and 1/2 weeks with the mother.
They take turns.

I have just witnessed a case, in which the father received custody because the mother wanted to move away with the child - in fact she did but the authorities didn't let her and she had to return the child. wink

Not sure you grasped the point

There was a thread here about 2 gay men using a surrogate to get a daughter

Some females here said a man can parent as well as a woman so there is no difference in a woman's role and thus a woman is redundant in parenting

really interesting views

so what is family to u

Stillfire:

Masculinist ko, Michael Jackson ni. angry I would rather use the phrase more conservative than liberal when it comes to morality. As of now, marriage/family is the bedrock of any society. A dysfunction in marriage, translates into the larger society and may affect ME in the process, when the sons and daughters of these dysfunction start manifesting. tongue So anything to penalize these dysfunctional people is fine by me.
Family / Re: And What If She Is Cheating? by pickabeau1: 6:06pm On May 17, 2016
TV01:

Funnily enough, in 90% of cases the wife gets the kids. In the other ten, it's often another - grandparents etc. - so fathers rarely get custody. It's considered in the childs best interest to be with their mother, although it's a confusing ideology, as apparently women add nothing of distinct value and 2 men could do the job just as well grin.

Hmmmm.. interesting that you are pro-marriage

Stillfire:

Naa it does not mean that much to me. Just having a discussion on a theoretical basis.
Now, my moralistic opinion is that cheaters in marriage should be fined and policed by the government and a considerable amount given to the partner that was cheated on. In the advent of lack of income to pay the government, the cheater goes to jail for a month or 2 or 3. It will not solve the cheating problem, but it would regulate it and help bring some sanity into the institution. The law is too focused on 'divorce'. Laws need to be introduced to protect and preserve the marriage institution and the partners involved in the institution. You will still have the right to leave the institution, but you will be fined for it. In Nigeria, where conclusions are analyzed and arrived at through religion, I don't see how most people would have a problem with this. This will enable only sincere people to get into that institution. The only exception would be if both parties prior to the marriage agree to have an open marriage. Also there will be the freedom of not getting married at all.
