Lolz tit for tat
If they remain in PDP and work for ADC that will be big trouble for Wike with Tinubu. The reason why Tinubu roughy him close is to weaken PDP and make sure PDP does the bidding of APC but if the same PDP is now working against APC and PDP then there is trouble in the mountain . Which means PDP is about to break into pieces

This is not the question about bringing back subsidy. Subsidy is gone. Not that I'm crying over split milk, what pains me is the ball GEJ did not have when it comes to the subsidy saga and the double standard Tinubu played including his sponsored protest in Ojota, Lagos in 2012 is still fresh in my memory. I remember that Tinubu said subsidy is a scam. The same subsidy he eventually removed when he comes to power. One remembers the confessional statement Fayemi gave in a public forum about how they played politics with the whole saga back then when GEJ was in power.

Anyways, what matters right now is what is FG doing with the returns on subsidy, are they using it for the betterment of the citizens or they are looting it? I believe the latter is the answer.

PoliticsRe: You Lied About Your Past, Your Father Disowned You – Eze Blasts Wike by Pickieox(m): 12:36am On Jul 09, 2025
robosky02:
You lied about your past, your father disowned you – APC chieftain Eze blasts Wike

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has responded to some of the claims made by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike during a recent interview.

Wike recently appeared on Channels Television’s Politics Today where he, among other things, claimed that he came from rich background and attended school driving in his own car. He said this insisting he did not come from the same background as his former boss, Chibuike Amaechi.

Wike also claimed that Dame Judith, the wife of Rotimi Amaechi, was collecting the sum of N4 million monthly to train Rivers women. Wike vowed to resign if the report of forensic audit on the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, does not indict Amaechi’s wife.

Reacting to Wike’s claims, Eze, an ally of Amaechi, who often stand for the former Minister of Transportation, said Wike only presented falsehood about his past exposure to the public thereby ridiculing himself.

According to him, Wike, who was an errand boy to Amaechi, has of today denied everyone who made one contribution or another to lift him from abject poverty which reigned supreme in his family.

Eze wondered whether it was Wike that made himself a Local Government Chairman, Chief of Staff to Amaechi and later nominated himself as a Minister during the Jonathan regime.

“Trying to claim how rich his father was when poverty that radiated his family was as strong as the direct ray of sun, is denying his background,” Eze said in a statement he signed and made available to reporters at the weekend.

“His father, if alive, would be disappointed in his act of self-denial to justify his lavish living with public funds. Not minding that his father disowned him because of his character and if not for his friend’s father who assisted him by paying his school fees, Nigerians would have been spared of having such a charlatan in public service

“In his futile attempt to castigate Amaechi’s wife who had genuine dealings with the NDDC, one is forced to ask whether Wike’s wife is fit for the exalted position of a Judge which she holds given that sleeping daily in the same room and on the same bed with a character like Wike will definitely affect her sense of judgement in the delivery of justice. The business of Court is a noble one and the background of a Judge shapes his/her sense of judgement.”

Eze blamed Amaechi said the former Rivers Governor made the greatest error in his political journey by encountering Wike and assisting him to be a Local Government Chairman; appointing him as his Chief of Staff and recommending him for Ministerial appointment.

“As Governor, Wike’s biggest legacy is the destruction of all major policies and projects set up by the Amaechi’s government for the betterment of Rivers State and her people. The Agricultural set up that would have taken care of the food challenge currently facing Nigerians was destroyed, the educational sector and scholarship set up by Amaechi to make Rivers State a hub for human development was destroyed by Wike.”

"Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Joseph Egbonike, on Tuesday, said about N114,290 000 million out of N360 million bribe for the 2016 bye-election results allegedly offered by the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike to 23 staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been recovered.

The DIG of Police appeared before the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on assessment and status of all recovered loot, movable and immovable assets from 2002 to 2020 on Tuesday.

The officer, who confirmed the development to the panel, explained that the actual money offered was N360 million which they discovered in the course of their investigation, saying that the officers of the electoral umpire were actually involved but couldn’t recover the entire funds since 2016 that it happened.

The officer who appeared on the invitation of the panel when asked by the chairman to emphasise exactly what the money was meant for said: “There was a governorship rerun in 2016 between Governor Nyeaom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the main opposition at that time, which was the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the sum of N360 million money was offered as bribe to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials during the 2016 rerun governorship election in Rivers State.”

The Police said, those who benefitted from the governor were 23 in number, out of which only N114,290,000 million could be recovered since that time.

Responding to a number of questions by the panel members in a cross-examination from documents and exhibits previously submitted to the Committee, the DIG further explained that the matter has been taken to Court after the conclusion of the police investigation.

According to him, all the accused have been prosecuted at the Federal High Court in Port-Harcourt, but the judgement which was delivered in favour of the Federal government was appealed against hence, it was still pending.

“The said matter is still in court and I wouldn’t want to speak much on it, but the said amount you are referring to was recovered from 23 officials of INEC during the 2016 rerun elections of the National and State Assembly which was rigged in favour of PDP.

“Although, the persons involved have been prosecuted and convicted, the matter has been appealed and not dispensed.

Meanwhile, the police report and other related documents which were obtained by DAILY POST on Tuesday after the Committee sitting, showed a recovery of the sum of N114 290,000 by the Nigeria Police, Rivers State Command out of N136 million from INEC staff.

Part of the Police report read:

“On 10th December 2016, during the National and State Assembly rerun elections in Rivers State, efforts were put to rig the said election through inducement, bribery and intimidation of electoral officials, as the sum of three hundred and sixty million naira (N360, 000,000.00) was given by governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, to twenty three (23) electoral officials, deployed to Rivers State from Anambra, Oyo and Plateau States, to compromise and influence the outcome of the election.

“Consequently, on receipt of the intelligence, our investigation panel under the IGP Monitoring unit was set up, following which the sum of 114 million, two hundred and and ninety thousand (114, 290, 000.00) was recovered from the 23 INEC officials and deposited into the Central Bank of Nigeria.

“All suspects are being prosecuted before the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, River State by the Attorney General and Minister of Justice of the Federation”.

Meanwhile, a text message and calls made to the Special Adviser on Media to Rivers State governor, Mr. Kelvin Ebiri, not returned before filing this report.

I have been watching the political space since ADC was launched last week and the speeches from presidency and Wike has shown nothing but deep concerns about the coalition.

Wike has gone all out attacking whoever can be attacked.

Atiku votes plus Obi votes will floor APC even if the election holds today.

It's so concerning that even if you add Kwankwaso votes to Tinubu. ADC will still win.

Now that will scare anyone.

What do you think?
By the way Wike is even afraid of Atiku should in case Atiku become the president, Wike knows Atiku will have him jailed.

theyongest:
“Let's agree for a minute that “School Na Scam",
And we immediately proceed to eradicate schools.
What effects will this have on the society?”

This question led to a 45-minute conversation that lasted through my Uber ride. Without hesitation, I rated him a 5-star. It will be hard to top that ride in a long while.

Context/Disclaimer:
I had noticed that my Uber driver had completed more than 7000 rides, so I asked him how long it's been since he'd started riding.
His answer led to another question, and to another question, and then... to the:
“Shey, if I'd known earlier, I wouldn't have wasted years in the university chasing degree”

I felt the pain in his voice and thought we could find a silver lining.
So I asked: “Maybe the school experience is why you’re so good at what you do”

This is where the conversation originated.
A simple, from-the-heart conversation. I loved the debate.
I'm sharing ONLY my view about the matter out of respect for him and everyone who feels the same… not to prove anything.

This was my side of the conversation, my opinion only, not a thing against Edu-Tech.
I believe sharing my opinion- that "school na scam" is the scam, rather than a sensational personal story, will contribute towards moving the needle in the right direction.

Let's get into it.

Education is dynamic, and learning shouldn't be restricted to within a class.
This is the bottom line.

But let’s assume… no filter, no context, just blanket imagination.
That we scrap every form of formal education; no more classrooms, no more structured learning.
Instead, we pivot fully to online apps and courses, certificate programs, public forums, and video how-to tutorials.

Modern, cheaper (at least, on paper), faster, and ‘smarter’ too.

At first glance, nothing much will change, really. (except maybe AI disrupting online learning platforms).
People will still wake up, hustle, trade, build businesses, and make money.

After all, skill is skill, and that's all that matters… right?

However, a deeper look suggests that eliminating structured learning would ultimately lead to loss of specialization.

This may not be concerning at first.
But the surplus of on-demand learning will mean no need for training for a decade or obsessing over research for ages.
And there'd be no vocational schools either, (since they would have remained a form of academic learning).

Consequently, we'd no longer have depth.
We’d have millions who know “a bit of everything” and a very few who truly master anything.

So, no specialist doctors (medical and/or academic), no researchers, no professors.
No scientists stubborn enough to spend 15 years on a single vaccine.
No civil engineers who can design earthquake-proof bridges, or urban planners who see beyond today’s traffic.

And ultimately, this slows down progress.
I mean,
YouTube can teach you how to fix a tap or even how to perform surgeries… but it won’t contribute to future breakthroughs in medicine, renewable energy, AI, or space science.

The ultimate failure from that will be losing long-term, society-shaping growth for short-term, individually profitable hustle.

What would then become of medicine, architecture, pure science, or philosophy?
Or specialized fields that demand rigor, peer review, and slow, painful iteration?

The direct (& indirect) implications will be:
Slower problem solving:
Without deep, structured research, complex societal challenges stay unsolved.

Stunted innovation:
As industries rely on years of accumulated, peer-reviewed knowledge, not a-la carte hacks.

Industrialization dies:
Simply because you can’t YouTube your way into building a nationwide power grid or a space shuttle.
We’d end up with a generation quick to “build something,” but slow to sustain it.
Eager to trend, but rarely patient enough to push boundaries that change history.

Yes, we’ll still have millionaires, as long as the marketplace rewards hustle, diligence and commitment.
But imagine a society where no one becomes truly world-class because no one can afford the price of depth or discipline.

So, agreed. Our formal education system is flawed.
From outdated curriculum to underpaid teachers, missing infrastructure, and sometimes, the painful mismatch between certificate and competence.

But instead of burning the house, let’s renovate it.
Let us:

➡️ Modernize our curriculum to match real-world needs.
➡️ Retrain, reward, and retain teachers and not just pay them salaries.
➡️ Blend theory with practical, project-based learning.
➡️ Partner universities with industries to close skill gaps.
➡️ Invest in labs, research grants, and infrastructure.
➡️ Teach critical thinking over “la-cram-la-pour" memorization.

This is what I think:
Education is dynamic, but schools bring structure.
While learning can happen anywhere and at any time, schools provide discipline as well as guidance.
This balance is what we often miss.

We can improve both experiences independently.
In fact, we can remove education from schools, but we cannot remove schools/classes in any form (either physical, virtual, online, or hybrid) from learning.

Please hear me…
Formal education isn’t just about the certificate; it’s a structured process that deepens thinking, fosters specialization, and builds every institution that the society depends on.

And, even though self-learning is powerful, it thrives best when layered on basic (and maybe, structured) knowledge.

So, I hope next time someone says: “School Na Scam…”
You'd engage them in the bigger conversation.
You'd try to understand what kind of society they think we will build without it, while helping them see the one we'd lose without it.

Because while it makes sense now, because the current system has failed, it is its purpose (of building depth, patience, and structure) that drives our collective growth and development.

And rather than throw it all away, let’s fix the parts that fail us and keep what truly builds us.

Thank you.
I love your thinking cap. I think I'll borrow some of the lines used here in my ongoing project. I'm working on a script at the moment.

A closer look at both angles to support or against that motion of "school na scam" gives reader a wider periscope of the whole institution known as school. The topic itself is engaging. By the way, I love your points.
