In a petition to the Lower Chamber, Jonathan urged the Federal Government to call the agencies to order.
The petition was presented at the House’s plenary by the lawmaker representing Okrika Constituency of Rivers, Rep. Bright Tamuno.
Presenting the document, Tamuno urged the house to wade into the matter in consideration of the sacrifices her husband, former President Goodluck Jonathan, made for the country.
According to him, no former first lady has been harassed like this before, and in view of the sacrifices that her husband has made for the country, the house should consider and call the security agencies to order.
In the petition, Jonathan alleged that the harassment was being orchestrated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and other agencies of the Federal Government.
The Speaker, Mr Yakubu Dogara, referred the petition to the Committee on Public Petitions for further legislative action.
The former first lady had petitioned the House on a similar in December, 2016.

PearlStreet: New Delhi: The Delhi police arrested two Nigerian nationals and an Indian on June 28 from Mumbai for cheating people on the pretext of selling fake herbal root seeds for treatment of cancer after contacting them on facebook .
The Nigerian nationals are identified as George Ike, Ugwuele Bright Onyeka alias De Man Cooler alias Mathew and Vishal Sharma alias Binni.
The cheats were exposed when S. Rahul, a resident of Sarita Vihar, complained to the police that he was duped by a woman, Armand Linda, who claimed to be working in the UK in a firm named Health Pro Pharmaceutical Company, who he interacted with from the gang.
The woman asked him to purchase seeds from a trader named Anitha Sharma in Mumbai at lower rates and then sell it to her company at higher price and offered to share the profit. Rahul contacted Sharma and was cheated of Rs13 lakh.
The Nigerian nationals were found to be living here without valid visas, the police said. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC and a probe is underway.-

onatisi: What do u think the government reaction will be ,it seems you live in osun state. Can the market women force the government to back down? Hmmmmm, I am not really certain because no matter how good any idea may be, our administrators know how to negotiate that kind of issue with the people involved. They (the government ) may surrender/give up to deliberately favor them and intentionally sly the masses so far they aren't really complaining perhaps because they are used to exploiting them. Secondly, don't forget election is around the corner, no Bleep up must come from the government this time around because these are the pple who come out to vote most, the victims prefer staying indoor to watch and monitor the election on the tv. Therefore, the government may back down (85% certainty). Thanks. |

onatisi: Well I don't know the pulse of the society or those living in osun state towards this issue but from the outside view of ppl this will look as less important issue A reasonable consumer will definitely see this issue of scale as something beneficial to them. The traders find it very difficult to accept because they are used to exploiting and cheating the consumers. Therefore, it's the responsibility of a reasonable government to regulate the prices of various goods so as to favour the masses. Besides, you might sometimes want to ask why they didn't protest against hikes in prices of goods even as regard the ones dollar hasn't affected so much. |

There is a reason why Anambra state is the only state in Igboland where there is no where the hausas are given land. We chased the ones at headbridge into asaba, Delta state and the ones at amansea into ugwuoba, Enugu state. Look for the black goat while it is still day. In what way has that stopped the region from producing the highest number of criminals in Biafra? |

[quote author=Hopeful20100 post=57479205]Jonathan was a purposeful and visionary leader. He did a lot in 5 yrs that no Nigerian leader has ever done. Yet he was chased out from power by North and SW. I'll never forgiver SW for how they rubbish this man...go back and look at Nairaland in 2015 before the election. Today you have your Buhari, going to 3 yrs now, what has he done? Everything is upside down, there is hunger in the country, chaos, division, hate, all forms of agitations mainly on how he polarized the country, he has not visited SE since he was elected nor Niger Delta; only Cross River on the highway, yet he has visited over 50 countries. What kind of president is that? Name me one major project in federal, state or local government level we could say will be his legacy or remembered for? NONE. I can name you over 20 projects by GEJ...I'm talking about hefty, landmark projects!
You hardly hear this: the massive, contemporary Terminal 2 at Muritala Mohammed airport Lagos approved and funded by Jonathan. When I saw this structure I was shocked and asked the cab who is a yorubaa man, who funded this project? He said Jonathan approved it because I couldn't believe Jonathan will build such modern structure in SW but he did because Tribalism is not in his blood. See pics..[/q A purposeful and a visionary leader.... Hmmmmm.. I can smell hypocrisy all over the place |

ghettowriter: I too agree with you. I visited the north during 2015 election, exactly when the voters registration was done and with the amount of kids and almajiris that lined up to collect the cards was something else. Actually, that was not what made GEJ lost the election but the voters from the western & middle belt part of Nigeria. People from this parts are social media Inclined, these will be were the media will come into play.
I know we are far from overcoming religious and ethnic biasism being the core reasons for voting in people into power but I believe the social media had created a level ground for identifying the common evil, which is Bad leadership and I believe by 2019 Nigerians will be wiser than 2015 at least. so It was because of religious and ethnic biasisms Buhari won the election. smmmhhhh |

Don't forget, Saraki was an Americana, He now has his sponsored sycophants who He would be perhaps paying undeserved dues speak for him. This kind of a person is being nurtured home or abroad for favourably political considerations. He spoke from abroad where things are favourably not even by half working out in opposite to ours as a country. it now seems pathetic wen u c such a person speak as a citizen of this great country. |
