Most of you are so ignorant, foolish, educated illiterates and gullible. You just keep shouting Atiku is a thief, Atiku is a thief as if you caught him stealing your mom's panties or something.

Why do you keep buying all these useless lies and propagandas by enemies of Nigeria who want to keep looting Nigeria and your destiny dry under the guise of fighting corruption.

Can you swear with your life that if truly Buhari is fighting corruption let God prosper your ways and prolong your life on earth and of Buhari is not fighting corruption let you die before morning, can you and other APC minions on Nairaland swear by this

If Atiku was a thief was Buhari dinning with him in 2013 - 2015 and flying on his jet around Nigeria and laughing like slowpoke without rejecting him and his stolen money back then Why did Buhari and APC turn around to start screaming Atiku is a thief just after he decamped from APC

You guys don't love Nigeria and it's future at all.

Every country in the world rely mostly on foreign investors to grow their economy and not some mineral resources like crude oil that it's price is not stable, and before your eyes all foreign investors are running away from Nigeria and new ones refusing to come to Nigeria to invest, giving reasons that President Buhari is a tyrant who does not allow rule of law and uses archaic economy index, and using government ill policies to control and fix foreign exchange rates of Naira to USD which led to the crash of Naira and even worsened Nigeria's economy.

When will you lots develop sense and know that Buhari is all about the money from government and has nothing good to offer to Nigeria in terms of good leadership

A change in government will reassure foreign investors that Nigeria's democracy is getting stronger and stable, so they will come into Nigeria to invest and boost Nigeria's dead economy, that is why Buhari needs to go at all cost, Nigerian youths need jobs to survive not useless, hypocritical fight against his enemies he calls fight against corruption angry

It hurts to share nation with fools, idiots, dafts, imbeciles and educated illiterates angry

Yeah, it's true. I noticed it @ premier hotel in ibadan too and I asked the room steward why was it that it was only bible that was considered being in rooms. Why not putting into consideration other religions? He couldn't give a convincing response perhaps because he happened to be a Christian.

My own position is, Christians in the real sense are intolerable of other religious doctrines aside thier own. They see things as ' all correct ' when they favour them, they care less about afflictions their acts may have on other's religious sensibilities. They act as if they are the only ones living this world most especially when they are the head of institutions. Go and find out those hotels they solely put bible in their rooms, they are headed by Christians.

I know for sure if it were to be a qoran or oriesemerindinlogun that is being put inside those rooms, you would have been hearing, islamization or traditionalization of........

ivandragon:
Melaye: BBC staff picked, handcuffed

•How medical doctors, patients, others were arrested at hospital, taken into detention
•BBC staff also picked, handcuffed
•Journalists ordered not to bring phones or communication gadgets out of their pockets

Imagine being handcuffed by the police like a hardened criminal and taken into detention for several hours for treating a patient in a medical facility where you work as a doctor! Your only ‘offence’ against the law enforcement agents is that you attended to a patient! This was the case of some medical doctors at Zankli Hospital Abuja last Tuesday, April 24,2018.

The doctors were in their professional best to save the life of a senator, Dino Melaye, representing Kogi West Senatorial District at the Senate, who was brought into the hospital probably unconscious, following blockade of a police Hilux van conveying him to Lokoja, Kogi State and his subsequent removal by a mob of supporters opposed to the police action.

Besides the two doctors who were arrested, dragged into a waiting vehicle and handcuffed while being moved into detention facilities, patients and their relatives as well as their sympathizers, who were seen sitting outside the hospital premises around 2:35pm when a contingent of police stormed there in over 30 operational vehicles, were not spared. They were all rounded up and forced into some of the vehicles.

Journalists who had converged at the hospital to gather reports after learning that the senator was moved there for treatment, were not spared either. They were forcefully led out with an order not to bring their communication gadgets like mobile phones out of their pockets for recording or be shot by the police personnel led by the FCT Commissioner of Police, Mr Sadiq Bello.

A British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC’s driver, who had conveyed one of their reporters, Miss Dooshima Abu, to the hospital to cover event at the hospital was also picked. It took spirited efforts by journalists who approached the Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, for possible intervention before the young man was unchained from seven others and set free. The hospital later confirmed that those arrested within their premises including their doctors had been released.

The unconscious senator who was on drip at the amenity ward of the hospital was forcefully detached, taken into a waiting police ambulance marked NPF 221 D to the National Hospital Abuja around 9:20 pm.

The journey of the senator to the hospital had begun around 7 am earlier in the day, when he turned himself to the operatives of the Nigeria Police, drawn from its Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, who had laid siege to his Maitama, Abuja house after being prevented from traveling to Morocco at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, by men of the Nigerian Immigration Service at the airport.

He was being taken to Lokoja Command of the Nigeria Police Force but the police plan was foiled by some people, possibly the senator’s supporters and some passers-by who were drawn to the shout of the senator struggling against the movement around the Area 1 Round About of the Federal Capital Territory.

Contrary to the claim that Melaye jumped out from a moving vehicle, while being taken to Lokoja, the senator was dragged out of a police Hilux van conveying him to the Kogi State capital, after the people blocked the police team and forcefully took him out of their grip during which he became unconscious in the process. “At the Area One Roundabout, people heard a man in the police vehicle shouting for help. The people were moved at the development and blocked the Police and in the process, forcefully pulled him out of the police vehicle, “Peter Babayemi, one of the passers-by had told newsmen who rushed to the scene of the incident.

According to him, their attention was drawn to the lawmaker’s plea for help, and immediately the SARS vehicle was surrounded by a sea of passers-by. He added that the operatives were overwhelmed by the number of passers-by and abandoned Melaye and drove off to avoid being lynched.

Babayemi said: “What happened was that we were at the Area One roundabout when we saw the SARS vehicle carrying someone. We saw the person struggling and shouting on top of his voice. So, many people now gathered to see what was happening.

Senator Dino Meleye : Policemen barricaded Senator Dino Meleye House at Maitama When we looked close, we saw it was Dino Melaye.

“Immediately, we started shouting that we know this man. Since some of us had read the news about what was happening to him, we said we won’t allow them take him anywhere. That was how we rescued him from them and they drove away when people became too many.”

The police team who had abandoned Melaye in the hands of the crowd later got wind of his whereabouts .

Journalists rushed immediately to the Zankli Hospital, at the Mabuchi District of the FCT, where he was taken to.
It was at this point that the police team got wind of the development and stormed there in a commando style, and started arresting anyone on sight.

The several truckloads of stern-looking policemen
barricaded the hospital’s entrance. The Police men drawn from the FCT Command flooded the premises, and conducted intensive search on vehicles entering and making their exit from the hospital.

The insistence of the police authority to have Melaye paraded at its Kogi State Command and subsequent arraignment in court in the state has raised some questions.

Recall that the criminal case instituted by the Nigeria Police against Senator Dino Melaye, Mohammed Audu, and two others has been transferred out of the Lokoja Federal High Court Division to the Abuja division of the court following Melaye’s application and alarm that his life was not safe in Kogi.

Recall also that when the case came up for mentioning last Thursday, the Prosecuting Counsel, G.O Ojo said he was ready to move the exparte motion requesting that the case be brought forward from the initial May 10 it was slated for.

His argument was premised on the fact that since the two suspects who indicted Dino in gun running, Kabiru Seidu (a.k.a Osama) and Nuhu Salisu (a.k.a Small) who had earlier escaped from police custody have been re-arrested, the case should commence immediately .

However, the presiding judge, Justice Phoebe Ayua had ruled against him, saying that she ought to have been notified of the new development on the case.

What will be the action of the court in the face of the police insistence on having the senator arraigned in court and possibly tried in Kogi State, instead of the Abuja court where his case has been moved to? What is the interest of the police in the having him arraigned in Kogi instead of Abuja? Melaye had alleged that the governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello was after his life.

Phone calls to the spokesman of the police to comment on this matter were not answered. There no responses to text messages too.

In summary, he did not intend to jump out of the vehicle.

In my view, the protest is sentimental.

However, we should hammer more on restructuring and subsequently allow the lawmakers to know the exact laws we want.

Thanks for sharing with my perspective in some ways.

You see, the thing with population is that people make the mistake of just counting the numbers.
The right way to analyse it is actually to compare it to:
- The landmass
- Available resources and
- Projected economic growth.

If you compare China as at then (the time you speak of) with regards to their landmass and available resources, to Nigeria now in regards to her landmass and available resources, you'll see that we are as populated as them. They experienced everything we are going through now before initiating population control which helped to augment their fight against corruption (the less children you have, the less the tendency to want to acquire more wealth).

Like I said before, population on its own is not a measure of wealth, take California for example, with a population of around 38 million, it is the fifth biggest economy in the world. Simply because they apply technology more than it employs human labour. Thus we need to lower our population growth to enable government spend less on sustaining them and then use the money to invest in technology.

You can also see by this analysis (considering landmass and available resources) the USA is even actually less populated than us. Yet they apply stringent measures to keep its growth under control. That's why every incoming president has immigration as their topmost priority.

PS: Food for thought, India is over a billion yet Japan at around 120 million and UK at around 56 million are bigger economies (Japan's population is projected to drop to 80 million by 2040, ours to rise to 400 million by the same time, it is clearly worrisome).
However big economy does not translate to being a rich economy. The richest countries are actually in Europe eg Norway, Finland (you can also Google the richest countries in Africa, you'll be surprised to learn that Nigeria isn't even in the top ten or top 15). The quality of life there (Norway and Finland) is much better than you'll even get in the USA. In other words, countries with higher population (respect to economic growth rate) tend to have lower equitable distribution of wealth.
Nigeria

In accordance with research, I could understand the likes of Russia, Canada and USA are larger than China in terms of landmass but have lesser numbers of people (I mean a crystal clear difference). Yet it still competes with them in terms of economy. In the same trend, India being amongst the top 10 largest countries and 2nd most populated country in the world is nowhere to be comparatively. More over, a country that doesn't find its place in the top 50 richest countries in the world doesn't not amount to the fact that its citizens are suffering,
everything (welfare of citizens) builds on a country 's projected economy in which China is obviously one of the best.
In a nutshell, in own opinion, everything still boils down to how a country' s leadership manages its resources to ensure the certainties of the security, welfare and even distribution of it(resources).

I still stand to be corrected as regards clarifications u know.
Politics / Re: We Must Stop Producing More Babies And Create More Jobs says Senator Ben Bruce by piice: 11:23pm On Aug 08, 2017
bibe:

Take a step back and think deeply about this. His idea is actually reasonable and practicable. All the developed economies are practicing it.

A step back into history would make you understand better. Where we are today, Europe and especially the UK was centuries back.

Australia, USA, Canada, these countries are made up of UK and some Europeans that fled present day UK and Europe due to their population outstripping their resources (same thing that is starting to happen in Nigeria).

Then technology was "non existent" and human labor was in high demand and commerce was mostly agriculture hence human labor was highly valuable. Fast forward to the era of industrialisation and slave trade was abolished (machines became better and more efficient than humans and became a much better viable substitute)

In the modern global economy, if you seek equitable wealth distribution and other infrastructural development then you must invest in technology and control your population growth (every developed economy does this including the ones you envy and want to be like)

Our problem is that we've copied a system from the West but don't want to copy the sacrifice necessary to make it work. In the modern economy, every country is like a company competing with other countries. They've got less population and more technology, we've got more population but less technology. In the end they end up producing cheaper which is why we tend to import everything cos compared to them our cost of production locally is high (machines/technology versus human). Plus humans can never be as competitive as machines and are more of a liability (they put so much strain on infrastructure and other social needs eg health care, feeding, housing etc)

Now what he's trying to say is, just like the USA, Europe, UK, China, let's try to reduce the number of babies we manufacture while we try to put things right. Cos babies in high numbers puts a strain on everybody and society at large at the end of the day.

PS: The symbiotic malaise plaguing us is also the revenue sharing formula. It is Communist in nature and doesn't encourage hard work.
Also, we need to rethink our notion of government, cos the government is actually us and not some abstract entity. If you can't create jobs for 2 kids, you have no business fathering more than 2 as they'll become a liability to the society eventually. Just like a civil servant having 6 kids. They end up looting and engaging in corrupt acts.
The less children you have the more the quality of life you give them and that benefits the society a lot more in the end. Thus quality (the West/developed countries) and quantity (Africa/developing countries).

We all need to re-evaluate our psyche. We owe it to the next generation not to repeat the mistakes of our parents generation. They birthed children like their parents (our grand parents) who were mostly all farmers in a subsistence era of farming and were justified in the number of children they birthed. When their parents generation all got weak and died off, food became scarce as their generation didn't take to farming (yet birthed unjustified alarming number of kids compared to their counterparts in the West) that is among the chief reason of our fall from grace to grass.

I respect your stance not because ur write up is long but because of its constructiveness.

I would have loved or supported ur opinion in its entirety through this evidently written write up if you had cited the most populated country on earth in relation with its development, as an example.
However, China before her advancement as regards technology was characterized by a larger population than Nigeria's.

I suggest we had better explore our naturally given resources that perhaps belong to the unborn babies. I think we should think out of the box and used their numbers to improve our technology.
Lastly, if we decide not to manufacture babies again talk less of reducing their manufacture, and our leadership is still characterized by mismanagement of pubic funds (corruption ) and uncreativeness, we will still be singing the same song as regards uneven distribution of resources.

Thanks

Babies are not assets, they used to be before machines/technology&science. Enlightened minds are.
That's what developed countries poach from us, not babies. And it's getting increasingly impossible to keep them from leaving because all we have are 'babies' littered everywhere crying for this or for that.

Ben Bruce isn't a career politician, he's made his money way before deciding to go into politics to impart positive changes.

Analyse his comment critically and you'll see the truth in it. You can't expect to accommodate 2.6% with 0.8%. Something ought to give.

Forget about critical analysis bro.

If everyone thinks this way there won't have been the existence of generations to come.

His idea might be thinkable and reasonable but impracticable and unreal. This is natural. This natural.
