The governments of Oyo and Osun States have appointed former Lagos State governor and national leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Chancellor of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho. This was contained in a statement issued in Ibadan on Tuesday by Dr. Festus Adedayo, the Special Adviser to Governor Abiola Ajimobi on Media. LAUTECH, a university jointly owned by the two states, was established by the old Oyo State in 1988. According to the statement, the choice of Tinubu, a financial expert, accountant and administrator, and now author, was arrived at after extensive deliberations between the governments of the two owner-states. The former Lagos State Governor is expected to bring his administrative experience in public management to bear on the running of the institution and reposition it to meet the standard of its peers all over the world. http://pmnewsnigeria.com/2012/08/28/tinubu-named-lautech-chancellor/ |

About three months ago when the overseer of Mountain of Liberation Ministry at Ereke Street, in Ojodu area of Lagos State, Prophet (Dr.) Chris Okafor broke the news of his abduction in a telephone conversation on his way from Awka, the Anambra State capital where he had gone for a crusade, the congregation shuddered with fear. Later on, and having paid a ransom of N50 million from the church’s savings to the supposed kidnappers to secure his release, some of the church members have come to discover that the kidnap story was a ruse. Orijoreporters was told that what informed their position was that when they went to receive their pastor at the Lagos airport, he bore no sign that he was ever kidnapped. Instead, he looked fresh, and well fed. Their conviction was also based on the fact that the remains of one of the pastor’s security escorts who he said was killed in crossfire has not been seen, and neither his identity known till date. That was the story of Pastor Chris Okafor purported kidnapping. The latest is that he is embroiled in a new conflict with the Igbano family over two-and-half plots of land at Gbolahan Akinmuda Street, Magodo Phase 1. It happened that Mrs. Igbano, a member of Mountain of Liberation Ministry, put the land, which belongs to her younger brother who lives in Switzerland up for sale, but buyer was not found, and she decided to seek spiritual help from her pastor who asked her to bring a small portion of the land’s sand in a polythene bag to him for prayer. The 19-bedroom duplex And as they were praying with Mrs. Igbano’s eyes closed, it is said that Pastor Chris stealthily put a tortoise in the polythene bag, which was in his possession. He then told the woman to open her eyes, and the bag, and to her surprise she found a tortoise in it. At that point, the pastor now told her about the spiritual implication of the tortoise in the sand. This he reportedly said meant that the woman would die if she sold the land, or built anything there, adding that she should give it to the church instead. Mrs. Igbano believed her pastor’s ‘tales by moonlight’, and recoiled in horror, and sometime last year, 2011 she gave out her younger brother’s landed property to the church having told her brother that land speculators had seized it. Since he thought Mrs. Igbano owns the land, which is valued at around N80 million, Pastor Chris felt he has struck gold, and started to erect a personal mind blowing 19-bedroom duplex on the land, which he completed, and moved into early this year. He also tried to perfect the land document in his own favour at Lagos State Ministry of Lands. However, some members of the Igbinos, and the land owner who lives in Switzerland were shocked when they heard about the land gift to the pastor, and recently moved against it. They petitioned the Special Fraud Unit at Milverton in Ikoyi, alleging that Pastor Chris obtained the land under false pretences. Orijoreporters’ findings revealed that Pastor Chris used to live in a 3-bedroom rented apartment at Adekunle Ajuwon Street at Asore in Ajuwon, an Ogun State suburb before he moved to his mansion in Magodo. It was there, he mastered the fine art of obtaining by tricks. Even in his church, Mountain of Liberation, which congregation is over three thousand, he introduced programmes such as GIVE ALL TO JESUS where regular worshippers are encouraged to donate all their monthly salaries to the church, and FIRST HARVEST where they are asked to give their first salaries to the same church every New Year. The same ‘man of crime’ requests that every church member should give a minimum of a thousand naira as offering on every Sunday Service in the church. http://dailypost.com.ng/2012/08/08/popular-lagos-pastor-419-scam-sets-kidnap-defrauds-member-landed-property/

Katherine Jackson, the mother of Michael Jackson and guardian of his three children, who was reported missing on Saturday has been found. She is presently with a family member in Arizona, authorities said late Sunday, one day after another relative reported her missing. Katherine Jackson is with her daughter Rebbie in Arizona, following a doctor’s orders to “de-stress” and stay away from the phone and computers, her son Jermaine Jackson said in a statement late Sunday. Our previous report: Michael Jackson’s mother, Katherine Jackson, was reported missing late Saturday night after her grandchildren have been unable to contact her for a week, according to reports. Katherine Jackson’s nephew, Trent Jackson, filed the missing persons report for the 82-year-old with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s office. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says Jackson may be with family members but have reached out to her to contact them. Michael’s three children have lived with their grandmother since their father died in 2009. She has not spoken to them for a week which is unheard of, according to Jackson’s lawyer, Sandra Ribera. The Jackson matriarch has gone missing in the middle of a family dispute between several Jackson children and the executors of Michael’s estate. The siblings claim Michael’s will, which stated that his assets be placed in a family trust and that Katherine was guardian of his children was forged and have demanded that the executors of his estate are fired. A letter to executors, made public on Wednesday, from two of Katherine’s daughters, Rebbie and Janet, and three sons, Jermaine, Randy and Tito, also states that their mother had a ‘mini-stroke’, reported CNN. However, Paris Jackson, Michael’s 14-year-old daughter, initially disputed the claims about the stroke and tweeted that ‘nothing had happened to her’. The tweet was later deleted. According to Ribera, on July 15 Jackson left her Calabasas, California, home with her daughter Rebbie to attend a Jackson brother’s concert in Albuquerque, New Mexico a few days later. However, when Paris has called her grandmother she has been told she cannot speak to her, Ribera said. Paris tweeted Sunday morning: ‘yes, my grandmother is missing. i haven’t spoken with her in a week I want her home now.’ She also tweeted that anyone who sees her grandmother call the authorities and gave out a security number to call. She later posted: ‘the same doctor that testified on behalf of dr murray saying my father was a drug addict (a lie) is caring for my grandmother… just saying.’ Ribera said that Jackson ‘has never gone 24 hours without talking to her kids,’ and added that she was concerned the 82-year-old was not safe. The sheriff’s homicide-missing persons unit has been asked to investigate, Ribera confirmed. Jermaine Jackson tweeted on Friday: ‘I want to reassure everyone (inc all sudden medical experts) that Mother is fine but is resting up in AZ on the orders of a doctor, not us.’ A second tweet read: ‘This is our mother and her health is paramount. We are not inventing or plotting anything. We are following doctor’s advice. Period.’ http://www.channelstv.com/home/2012/07/22/michael-jacksons-82-year-old-mother-is-missing/
