Ok then , am back here .
$700 would have gotten him a fairly decent laptop if not a Mac . We shouldn't discourage people based on our own Assumptions.
Have a great day

Congratulations Man!

I didn’t doubt you; I’m just not yet a developer and didn’t participate in it.

I must say you’re diligent though (not sure of the right word to use). After all this while you came back to prove your point - that’s awesome.

It is 2 days left before the most important program in my life commences.

I haven't received any help yet and have done all i could think of.

I hate it so much that it had to come to this. I had promised myself never to do this in the past. But now, i have to give up who i am now to become who i want to be.

Please do not ignore my plea, no amount is insignificant, and every amount will be well appreciated.

I think you should consider what you're getting into first.

From little I've read about alx SE programme, this training is 100% remote (online). And afterwards when you get a job you'll pay them a good amount.

If they won't help you in getting a good job, then I'll advise you not to further with them.

If you're serious, you can self develop yourself. I can give you link to free software engineering courses on Udemy, you can also apply for Andela/Google free training which won't require you to pay them back after getting a job.

I do agree with you.
I became engaged in ALX programme because of how challenging the application process was; I thought: if the application could be this challenging the SE program it’s self will definitely stretch me.

And I think they’ll also help me in getting a job after I’m through with the program.

And about being serious SE wise, I wouldn’t have put my self through the challenge even as that period itself was challenging (depression and stuff).

However, I don’t think I’ll be able to teach my self to the length the programme will. And, this is something I want to do and get a job immediately so I can handle my school fees and other expenses.

Bottom line though: I’m sticking with ALX because of how much I believe it will stretch me, and also the ‘network’ I’ll be exposed to.

Here is what I’ll be taught during the 12 months program:

This is commendable. Success is knocking on your door. Congrats in advance.
However to make your request transparent and easier for those disposed to help, I suggest you add the Spec and Price of your desired Laptop and your location (city/state). This will increase the options for those who wish to assist you.

Thank you so much. I have done that.

This below, is the best email I have ever received in my life:

-See the first image below-

Two weeks before this email, I had had to go through the final test in the application process.

At that time I was at home while my classmates sat for the second semester examination I had prepared so much for; I couldn’t sit for it because my Dad couldn’t afford to pay my school fees - I felt very depressed and devastated.

However, doing what ever it takes to receive that email was on my mind.

I borrowed a friends laptop, locked my self indoors and worked my ass off trying to do something I had never done before, trying to deliver the last requirement to receiving that email: creating a website from scratch.

It was really tough for me, even as malaria chose to strike at that period. But I was determined to receiving that email—my fuel was:
‘Being a software developer is what I really want to become’ and
‘Being a software developer will enable to be a scholarship giver’—so I kept pushing.

Fast forward to now:

-See the second image below-

Dear Nairalanders, I worked so hard to receive this email. It is a dream come through. And as I’ve mentioned above, I am very passionate about software engineering.
It is 80% guaranteed that after this 12 months programme I will be employed as a junior developer and hell no would I ever miss another examination because of school fees.

However, I do not have a laptop to participate in this programme, which is very very important.

Please, I need you to invest in me. I cannot afford a laptop now and my parents can’t either. I need your help to having a better future, I need your help to becoming the software developer I’ve dreamt of becoming.

My account number is 0090992147, Diamond-Access Bank,

And my phone number is 0812.704.8114

Thank you.

Can you split your code in two?

One code for even and odd numbers and run it, then post the result
Then...
Another for primes and composites then post the result.

Here.
But what's the need?

Wrote this code that gets the odd, prime, even, and composite numbers off a list of numbers.

How did I do?

I'm new to coding.
I'm interested in AI

I'm learning to code because I love it. However, I need to make money soon.

Which should I major in: Web development, Mobile App dev, or Mechine Learning?
Programming / Re: Should You Study Computer Science To Learn How To Code? by Plaouse(m): 9:36pm On Jan 05, 2021
Insightful.

I've spent two years out of school (i.e after high school grad)

I applied for Architecture as I wrote Jamb last year.

In the last quarters of 2020 I got my hands of some javaScript (my first encounter with programming ever) and I instantly loved it, as I still do.
I'm interested in the programing field of AI and Robotics.

Now, I plan on changing my course after admission. Changing it to CS

Considering the time I've waisted out of school (as I'm 19 now and will be 20 within this year) and the time it takes to be a good programmer; Should I remain with architecture (with programming by the side) or change my course so that I can have more experience in the programming field?

Ps: Completing Architecture would take 5years.

Programming / Re: CSS Is Not A Programming Language? by Plaouse(m): 10:12pm On Nov 20, 2020
OlamigokePhilip:

The main difference between the two is that scripting languages do not require the compilation step and are rather interpreted.
For instance, a C program needs to be compiled before running whereas, a program written in languages like Python, JavaScript or PHP need not be compiled. The latter are essential first a Scripting Language.

.

Interpreting and compiling - What does that mean?
