Business / BURSTED, The Myth About Multilevel Marketing Vs Others by PMIcon(m): 3:39pm On Aug 16, 2016
MLM, would have been the best business model because of the opportunities it creates for many people but another model now creates similar wealth creating opportunities without the fraud-like impact of MLM on those who sign in late. (Not talking about MMM or Affiliates)

Having said that, many things people say about MLM is not peculiar to the model. Let's see..

Fraudulent Nature?

Okay, just take a look at the lotteries and tell my why they are not legalized Ponzi schemes. Look at all the big companies' "win cars", "Salary for Life" and so on promos. Which one is not more fraudulent in nature than MLM? Are wonder banks not even better than all the monies you loose trying to participate in Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? At least many people get paid compared to their big brothers' frauds. Just sayin...

The Pyramid Nature?

Almost all businesses have the pyramid nature only that it is more obvious with MLM.
You have the CEO, the GMs, the Managers down to the non-management staff. They say everybody is important, yet they are not paid equally.
Then you have major distributors, subdealers/ wholesalers, and retailers- that is definitely a pyramid and many retailers are more or less like MLM distributors saturating the market without making much profit.
It's just an issue with perception and a myth.

Early-Starters Take All

Other businesses have major distributors or dealers who take over specific local territories and no one else can sell at their level- early-starter takes it all. Anyone else gets a "No, we don't need distributors in that place again."
Imagine you just discovered a product with great potential, you know you have the financial capacity to become a dealer but when you contacted the company you are told, sorry you have to buy from dealers. That is the same effect market saturation has on new MLM associates. The difference is that no audible promise was earlier made in the former case.
Also, if you know what is called MONOPOLY, you will realize quickly that this issue is not limited to MLM.

Expensive Registration Fees?

I am yet to meet an MLM company that charges their distributors or associates the fees that many other companies charge their distributors. I have also not seen any MLM that will charge you what many franchisors will charge intending franchisees, and that's aside royalties and other fees. Becoming an MLM distributors has even been regarded as mini-franchising.

THE REAL ISSUE

When people invest money in something, you should have an assurance you will get money back if nothing beyond human control happens. I think that is the main issue. The government should not be too eager to shut down any business model that creates opportunity for people, they should regulate it. I'm yet to understand why we allow tobacco companies that are destroying many lives to exist, as well as Casinos; yet we blackmail MLMs and call them Ponzi Schemes. If people decide that Ponzi schemes give them what the government cannot- even with lotteries, why should the government make them illegal? Should people only be permitted to "drink responsibly" can't they be allowed to "invest in Ponzi Schemes responsibly"? Just thinkin

If MLMs act like other business models and monitor the population of their associates in a given region to ensure the market is not oversaturated, and if they are fast about opening up international markets to any of their associates or distributors, the fraudlike effect will be minimized. But the nature of MLM model makes it difficult for every one that joins to have a fair share of the promises made.

700k. 200k upfront.

A good developer may not have the time to convince anyone on anything as a sales man could. You can identify one by discussing the problem to be solved, the challenges involved and how to go about solving it.

Thanks for the info. Convincing may just be by portfolio from your own website.

* Now someone said 70k, two in the 300k category. You are the one who should have the time to convince me. Why should I pay 700k, 200 upfront?
Business / For Business Owners: Turn Financial Crisis To Opportunity by PMIcon(m): 6:46pm On Aug 15, 2016
Innovative businesses make more money during financially difficult times by understanding the need of their customers and prospective buyers and helping to meeting it.

The normal trend is: reduced income for buyers and customers leading to a drop in sales for sellers, especially sellers of expensive products. This is followed by a cut in seller expenditure, most impactful on the society being laying off of staff or cutting down their income. In extreme cases, these may be necessary but most of those who do that have not truly exhausted their options.

WE NEED A CHANGE OF APPROACH

While it is true that expenditure must be cut down when income begins to dwindle, we need to take a people-centred approach. Laying off people is more disastrous than it seems. There are things to do first before thinking about making people jobless at a time when businesses consider hiring more as burdensome and when things are more expensive out there.

1. ELIMINATE INEFFECTIVE ACTIVITIES

Define the core of your business and see if you are unnecessary embellishments sucking out your funds.
* One of the things to do is check all popular industry practices you've been copying with no justifiable reason. Drop what has not been helping you. No "follow-follow"

2. IDENTIFY OPPORTUNITIES

Analyse your business processes to see areas where alternative measures are available that will cost you less. Often, it is because we continue to operate the same way as long as we are making money that we don't recognize already existing alternatives, not because cheaper alternatives don't exist.

3. REMOVE OBSTACLES FROM THE WAYS OF CURRENT. AND POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS

This is related to the above points too. Make it easier for customers to access your products and services. People are like water, they flow in the part of least resistance or form a dam. Don't be jealous of business dams when your customers have to go through a lot of stress to do business with you.

• Some of us feel cool when we see customers queuing to purchase from us. You are begging for a new and better competitor. Those people are not queuing because they enjoy your service; it's because they don't have a better alternative yet. Make things easier and faster for them before one of then wakes up and start a competition close to you.

• We have many manufacturers and wholesalers with no online marketing and selling platform, yet they complain about sales. There are people who could be interested in becoming distributors, who may even have the market but are absolutely unaware of your company's existence.
• Many retailers try to send customers from Facebook to their website rather than sell to them right on Facebook. Statistics show that most people don't leave social media websites to view other websites. It's human behavior. Just open a branch on Facebook an sell there. I'm an F-Commerce trainer. I know what I'm talking about.

4. ADD YOUR CUSTOMERS TO YOUR PAY ROLL
Yes, stop saying "thank you" during economic crisis. Empower your customers financially and they can buy more from you.
"Is that not crazy? I need more money. Why should I spend more?" You are probably spending more already, trying to convince everyone to buy from you.
There is no other method of advertisement as powerful as word-of-mouth. Develop a reward program for your customers who invite others to buy from you. Some call it referral programs, some affiliate, some "partnership". Whatever you call it, just stop saying, "Thank you for banking with us." People are only happy when they leave the bank with money, not when they go in to deposit. Is that not so? Especially in financial crisis.

THERE'S MORE

• RAPID SALES STRATEGY

There is a sales strategy your company can employ that can help generate more income for both the company and clients or customers without creating the problems of Multilevel marketing. Interested business owners can send me an email (see below) to learn more about it.

• F-COMMERCE
If you're interested in real F-Commerce (I'm not talking about just opening a Facebook page and expecting to sell from it.) please contact me. There are techniques to doing business on Facebook that will shoot up your sales. You can 30% or more jump in revenue, while some who are too knowledgeable to learn are getting frustrated with Facebook.

I was hoping to help some people by providing a easy means to get trained at a cheap cost.

FOR THOSE WHO MAY BE INTERESTED BUT ARE SCARED OF BEING SCAMMED

I will be providing a one-on-one training in Lagos. If you are outside Lagos and you don't want online training your cost will increase. See below.

Process:

-- Contact me by email, requesting to receive the above training.

-- I will provide information on what we will achieve in the training and if you like it, we will sign an agreement.

-- We will fix a scheduled time for the training. 1-3 days

-- You will hand me a #50,000 conditional cheque, not #2,500

If I don't provide the information I promised, you can cancel the cheque.

TRAINING OUTSIDE LAGOS
Same process as above except that I will choose my lodging and you will pay in advance for lodging, transport and secures a conducive learning environment.

To reduce your cost, you can get more people to participate. Cost as follows

#40,000/ head for 2-5 people

#35,000/head for 6-10 people

#30,000/head for above 10 people.

* The student is responsible for making available a conducive PUBLIC learning environment.

For students above 10, I will give the person who arranged the training with me #10,000/head; #5,000/ head for 6-10 students.

Don't mind him

FREE! FREE! FREE! THAT'S WHY MANY OF YOU GET DUPED.

I've done that before and what I get is people demanding more free services. Nigerians and beggars mentality! No regard for people's time, just get everything free.

Instead of criticising why not ask for more information. That's the wise thing to do.

By the way, I will be throwing pearls to pigs by revealing the information here. Many just read and do nothing. Yet the information has lost its value. I don't need thank yous anymore.

I think if you interested in the first place and you are wise enough, the little statements I gave there are strong enough to make you want to probe further.

This is cool.

You don't need to bank with them if you are avast to change. They will have less expenditure to handle, customer care problem to resolve because of people who refuse to go cashless.

I've been doing international transactions without seeing anybody. No wonder Techbased financial institutions choose South Africa and actually bar Nigeria. Just check criticisms above. Shows you many don't like to change.

Please note, I under that this style of requesting open quotes is not convenient for some. Maybe when I know all there is to know in web development and programming I will stop it (I took the same direction before hiring my last website developer from Nairaland)

This approach aids public learning, prevents someone cooking up some reasons to make someone pay more for less, minimizes messages received in my inbox and gives me a place to quickly hire someone else. The last time, a developer kept posting me after we agreed on project timing and fees. I was able quickly get someone else who took up the challenge of completing it in good time.

So kindly submit your quotes here first and make your contribution. You may also drop your website address and let me study your portfolio.

Thank you.

Thank you @ Joshuabase. But I'm curious: why 2 php developers?
Joshuabase:
You're looking at North of 70k and if your're building what I think you're building, you'll need to hire at least 2 php developers, a graphics designer and a front end developer.

If a single developer says he alone can shoulder all this work, he's lying.

Here's my 2 cents, why not split up the work amongst different developers and pay them after completing a certain task assigned to them just like freelancer.com .
