Though his sins was forgiven him but his crimes against God and humanity was out of this world for him not to be visited with the consequences. |

DavidEsq: That's where Matthew 6:1-4 comes in handy. The church or congregation gives but not through a modality called tithing. The book of Acts 4:32, 34 & 35, gives a clear answer to ur question. In fact, nowhere was tithing mentioned there, even wr there was an opportunity for it to be so mentioned and utilised. Look at 2 Corinthians 8:12, 13. That is the only and current recognised form of giving. Besides, it shocks me how so called MOGs wld place so much emphasis on giving, wen Matthew 6:33 spells out the priority of Christianity. We give offerings, alms and we pay our tithes cheerfully. NTOOOOR! |

There are more churches in Nigeria than the people. The owners are feeding fat, living in affluence on the gullibility of desperate Nigerians. It's all business not service to God and humanity. A business man maximises profit so as to upgrade his lifestyle.
Salvation is a flip, even in cheat and sin, you can be redeemed through grace. The truth is moral and social justice will catch up with them all. Revelation 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. 13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. |

DavidEsq: Firstly, u agree that the position of the levites and Aaron were a priesthood arrangement for the purpose of maintaining the people of Israel's relationship with God and keeping it clean. The levites had no property: no farmland, sheep or any means of livelihood. Therefore the commandment to pay or give tithes wr for their benefits. Hebrews 7:5 says: "And indeed those who are of the sons of Levi, who receive the priesthood, have a commandment to receive tithes from the people according to the law, that is, from their brethren......" Now go to verse 12 of the same Hebrews 7 and it says: "For the priesthood being changed, of necessity there is also a change of the law". Verse 18 then says: "For on the one hand there is an annulling of the former commandment because of its weakness and Unprofitableness". This shows that tithing was abolished with the rest of the law that had to do with a priesthood arrangement. The abolishment of the priesthood arrangements had nothing to do with the laws of Moses through the commandments of proper conduct as God's ppl. There were so many laws but I didn't see where tithe was mentioned as the law that was changed. My question is the workers, widows, needy in todays present church, who will take care of them. We have members whose parents departed on our scholarships scheme, we have to do other things including rents and businesses for lest privileged members. Where will the money comes from if we stop tithing?. If you quote me without answering my question, I won't respond to your mentions on this thread again. |

Koolking: This is why there is a lot of confusion within Nigeria Christendom. We interpret the Bible based on how we feel. So how come upon the trillions of Naira members of Nigerian churches pay as tithe day in day out, 99% of the levites in these churches are still poor beyond redemption, while the...(what are the rich pastors called?) are swimming in opulence? Any pastor that mismanaged the income of the church, won't go unpunished. |

BluntBoy: Point of correction, fishermen never paid tithes. Fishes were never counted among items to be tithed
Also, Israel were only largely farmers at a time when they still led a nomadic life. As soon as they settled, especially after the institution of monarchy, people ventured into different crafts like carpentry and masonry. Yet in the New Testament, Jesus made it clear in His address to the Pharisees that tithes were still land-based. Trash according to BluntBoy |

The Levites are the poor? Damn! Change your Church or double check your Bible for errors.
My friend, Levites were members of the Hebrew tribe of Levi. They assisted priests in the Jewish temple The word 'poor as used hv ended up deceiving you. We still have those that plays the roles of the biblical Levites today in the church. Who will take care of them? |

BluntBoy:

Please, be careful how you twist the Bible.
There were reasons why the tithes in its entirety was instituted.
Have you ever bothered to ask yourself why tithing was only land-based (crops and livestock)? They were mostly farmers and fishers then, Even today in rural areas, farmers do pay with their farm products. |

DEOLINX: Jesus came to preach the gospel and have no records of tithe collected by him simply because he realized his death meant an end to us using tithe and sacrifices to seek God's forgiveness...
So, there was tithe prescribed to take care of the Levites but Tithe as we know it today is not tithe as it was in the mosaic law, which has been abolished:
Colossians 2:13 ---Furthermore, though you were dead in your trespasses and in the uncircumcised state of your flesh, God made you alive together with him. He kindly forgave us all our trespasses 14 and erased the handwritten document that consisted of decrees and was in opposition to us. He has taken it out of the way by nailing it to the torture stake.
Ephissians 2:12 At that time you were without Christ, alienated from the state of Israel, strangers to the covenants of the promise; you had no hope and were without God in the world. 13 But now in union with Christ Jesus, you who were once far off have come to be near by the blood of the Christ. 14 For he is our peace, the one who made the two groups one and destroyed the wall in between that fenced them off. 15 By means of his flesh he abolished the enmity, the Law of commandments consisting in decrees, in order to make the two groups in union with himself into one new man and to make peace
Conclusion: Read this bible verses:
Hebrew 7: 5 True, according to the Law, those of the sons of Leʹvi who receive their priestly office have a commandment to collect tithes from the people, that is, from their brothers, even though these are descendants of Abraham. 6 But this man who did not trace his genealogy from them took tithes from Abraham and blessed the one who had the promises. 7 Now it is undeniable that the lesser one is blessed by the greater 8 And in the one case, it is men who are dying who receive tithes, but in the other case, it is someone of whom witness is given that he lives. 9 And it could be said that even Leʹvi, who receives tithes, has paid tithes through Abraham, 10 for he was still a future descendant of his forefather when Mel·chizʹe·dek met him. 11 If, then, perfection was attainable through the Levitical priesthood (for it was a feature of the Law that was given to the people), what further need would there be for another priest to arise who is said to be in the manner of Mel·chizʹe·dek and not in the manner of Aaron? 12 For since the priesthood is being changed, it becomes necessary to change the Law as well. 13 For the man about whom these things are said came from another tribe, from which no one has officiated at the altar. 14 For it is clear that our Lord has descended from Judah, yet Moses said nothing about priests coming from that tribe........18 So, then, the former commandment is set aside because it is weak and ineffective. 19 For the Law made nothing perfect, but the introduction of a better hope did, through which we are drawing near to God. No amount of propaganda can save the situation, the verses you quoted is not against tithe. Tell your daddy Freezer to goan pay the dowry of that lady the disciples he said we should follow their biblical footsteps didn't engage in BABY MAMA. |

Koolking: The rule is simple and must be kept as ruled. God can not be mocked
If you must pay tithe, 10% is 10%, you can never under pay or over pay and fan yourself you are the best, rather you incur the wrath.
I would rather suggest, you give more to the people in need (they represent God on earth) rather than paying the obnoxious and annulled tithing.
However, the man just managed to up his bamboozled strategy. God is watching in HD You're using Nigerian mentality to interpret the Bible. Tithe is different from alms giving and paying my tithe does not in anyway stop me from giving to the needy. We still have 'Levites (the poor) around us. |

thesicilian: No problems with the reverred Apostle increasing his tithe from 10% to 30%. My only issues with it are: 1. The Bible says what the right hand does the left hand shouldn't be aware of it, so we can still claim our heavenly rewards. Although then it was talking about giving to the poor, I believe the same principle applies .(Matthew 6:3) 2. If it was done to spite Freeze (I refuse to refer to him as Daddy), then it was a carnal decision and not motivated by the Holy Spirit. 3. Instead of giving Biblical reference, the man of God is quoting Adams Oshiomole! Goan tell your daddy Freezer to pay the dowry of that lady the disciples he said we should follow their biblical footsteps didn't endorse Baby mama. |
