Crime / Two Married Men Allegedly Gang-rape 11-year-old Girl In Abia by PoloG: 1:55pm On Aug 25, 2023
Two married men allegedly gang raped an 11-year-old girl at Ndiolumbe Nvosi village in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State.

The incident happened on Sunday, August 20, 2023, when the victim's mother, a widow, sent her on an errand.

The Abia State coordinator of Behind Bars Human Rights Defenders, Ochiegbu Marvelous, who confirmed the incident on Tuesday, August 22, said one of the suspects identified simply as Ezigbo, has been arrested while efforts are being made to apprehend the other.

He also revealed that certain persons want the victim's mother to ‘settle’ the case out of court.

"We are a group of human rights activists and lawyers that hate injustice. I felt bad today receiving these complaints from a poor widow in Nvosi Isiala Ngwa. In her words “Nwam biko come and help me ooo. They raped my 11year old girl ooo and they are talking about settlement,” Mr. Ochiegbu.

"We are fully representing the little girl. We don't accept settlement of any kind. Just imagine this little girl to be your daughter and someone did this to her? What will be your actions? They kept mute!

“The case is currently reported to Area command Isialangwa Police station But am not comfortable seeing a male Police Constable (IPO) handling a case of Child defilement, I thought a female officer should do that best.

They will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is over by the police."

Narrating her ordeal, the victim said one of the suspects, Ezigbo, had been harassing her.

“My mommy sent me on errand on Sunday evening. On my way I saw Ezigbo and he told me to come. I told him to leave me and that I am not interested in whatever he wanted to say,” she said.

“After delivering the message, I wanted to pass the same road but changed my mind as he may catch me. I decided to follow a backyard road.

As I was about to pass a school, Ezigbo appeared out of nowhere. He said ‘I finally caught you’,”

"I ran away and he chased me. I took refuge in Dee Sunday's house but the man was not around. I stayed a while in the house. I thought Ezigbo had left but when I came out of the house, he and the other man, who is also from my village, caught me.

“Ezigbo covered my mouth so wouldn't be able to scream for help. He and the other man dragged me to one place where they tore my clothes and pant and raped me.”

Politics / Herdsman Killed In Anambra State by PoloG: 1:42pm On Aug 25, 2023
A herdsman who has now been identified as Zakari Sale, has been shot dead in the Ukwulu community of Dunokofia Local Government Area of Anambra State.

This was disclosed by Alhaji Gidado Siddiki, leader of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MCBAN) in the South East on Friday, August 25.

Siddiki said a total of 15 cows were killed in the same community two weeks before the incident. He said;

“I came to know about the incident when the brother of the slain herdsman, Haruna Sale, called me on Wednesday, August 23, and told me that his brother had been missing since August 21, 2023, and immediately after the call, we set up a search party where we eventually found his decomposed body in a bush around the community.

The deceased was shot in the head and left leg. The decomposed body was evacuated from the scene to Chukwumemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku-Awka, with the help of the police from Dunokofia Divisional Police Headquarters Ukpo, after I reported the case to them and he was officially confirmed dead by the hospital.

“The deceased has since been buried in accordance with the Islamic rite. The Traditional ruler of the community, who has been a good leader also told my subjects living in his community. He said he has advised my people to vacate the town temporarily to enable him to study the security situation in his community.

Most of the criminals operating in the area always disguise themselves as Fulani herders.
“We call on the State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, to strengthen the farmers/herders committee template set up by the immediate past governor, Willie Obiano, to help settle cases of this nature in the state.”

Siddikki, who is also Siriki Fulani in Anambra called on the security agencies to ensure that those behind the barbaric act are brought to Justice. He also appealed to his members to remain calm and go about their normal business.

Crime / Nigerian Man Charged For Defrauding Woman In Guyana by PoloG: 6:19pm On Jul 07, 2023
A 37-year-old Nigerian man, who was recently convicted in Guyana for romance fraud, has been charged again for similar offence.

Mathew Ejike Nwachukwu and his Guyanese accomplice, Dwayne Frank, were on Thursday, July 6, 2023, arraigned before Sparendaam Magistrate Alisha George on seven counts of conspiracy to commit a felony.

Frank, a 30-year-old fireman of Tabatinga, Central Rupununi, Lethem, and Nwachukwu of Lot 96 Duncan Street, Kitty Georgetown, both pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Represented by Attorney-at-Law S. Martin, Frank has been placed on $300,000 bail, while the unrepresented Nwachukwu has been remanded to prison. The matters have been adjourned until August 9 for report and fixture.

Nwachukwu is currently serving 24 months’ imprisonment for a similar offence.
In September 2022, based on an intelligence report, the Special Organised Crime Unit (SOCU) commenced several investigations concerning romance/package delivery scams allegedly being masterminded by Nigerian nationals, one of whom is Nwachukwu.

As a result of those investigations, it has been revealed that Frank and Nwachukwu had conspired with other persons who befriended the victim via WhatsApp and formed a relationship with her.

Her “lover” had called her via WhatsApp and told her he had sent an expensive package with surprises for her. Sometime after, the woman received a call from someone who claimed he was working at the airport in New York, USA.

He informed her that her package had arrived in Guyana, and that someone would call her to pay the customs fees.

She subsequently received a call from a male, who told her that she needed to pay customs fees to clear the package, as it contained cash and expensive items.
That person gave her the names and identification particulars of several Guyanese nationals who were used as money mules in the scheme, and she was required to send the money in their names via the Post Office Corporation.

The money was collected by the mules and handed over to Frank, who worked with Nwachukwu in the scheme. Frank kept a portion of the money for himself, and handed over the remainder to Nwachukwu.
The victim sent a total of $1,030,000 via the Post Office Money Order on seven occasions. Based on investigations, the two accused were charged.

In September 2022, Nwachukwu and another man were charged with defrauding Njema Nobel of $100,000 in cash by falsely pretending that they were in a position to deliver a package to her.

While the other man was placed on cash bail, Nwachukwu was remanded to prison.

SOCU had previously warned of a sharp rise in cases in which Nigerian nationals who are in the country illegally, as well as some out of Guyana, are working with local accomplices to carry out scams and pyramid schemes on unsuspecting persons.

According to SOCU, package delivery/romance scams became prominent during the COVID-19 pandemic, as scammers targeted primarily women via several social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, as well as online dating sites. Persons are urged to be on the alert for such scams. (G1)

Reno is using your brain to play football..

Outside Nigeria, Africans are seen as one country by an average westerner.. Only few of them know that Africa is a continent.. If these people could see Africa as one despite our diversity, what made you think that they know who is Nigerian let alone Igbo Hausa or Yoruba..
