Sending scores yourself 1. Sign up PayPal 2. Link your card 3. They’ll deduct small amount to confirm it 4. Use it to pay as you go 5. You can add as many cards as possible depending on rates tactmayor: Na wa o. I thought here is for people to render help. I need someone to help me send my GRE scores while I transfer in naira. " If no funding why not reject me"... Funding will come, reach out to the grad coord if they offer assistantship et al. And if they fund PhD students. Some schools can be ridiculous tho! doziej84: Hi all,
Is there any Template/written format on how to request/apply for funding?
Got an admit into a PhD program, but nothing was mentioned about funding....They're now asking to fill a financial certificate form for int'l students.
I don't understand these guys, if no funding, why not reject me.
Pls anyone with a template I can adapt? pls help out |

Congrats chief! CptCharlesVane: Hey Guys!
I applied to 6 unis in total for PhDs. All apps sent in and completed before Christmas '18.
CUNY GC - Chemistry (Accepted; CUNY Science scholar $30k (stipend + GA) no tuition ) UMinnesota - Medicinal Chemistry (Rejected) UIowa - Medicinal and Natural Product Chemistry (awaiting) Texas Tech Health Sciences Center - Pharmaceutical Science (awaiting) Virginia Commonwealth Uni - Pharmaceutical Science/Med Chem (awaiting) Washington State Uni - Chemistry (Rejected)
Acceptance mail came on Friday but somehow I missed it. Stumbled on it yesterday, and Voila! a pleasant surprise, especially after seeing the demoralizing result updates of the elections and realisation of the trajectory of the future of Nigeria, on the way to electing a senile, insensitive, barely literate cattle herder with a dubious WAEC qualification that has no regard for the law or court orders. I want a better Nigeria, and that's not being selfish, and this election was an opportunity for the people to have made a statement but what do we have?
Anyway, I'm almost certain I'll be in the US this fall, haven't really decided yet, as I hope to get at least another offer, but doing Chemistry in the heart of the big apple is a fascinating prospect that I fancy, pretty much why I applied.
I didn't contact any faculty member by the way, I however corresponded with the program officer/coordinator especially since my GRE quants was below the required 50th percentile and he advised I should still apply. My GRE Chemistry was also abysmal percentile-wise, although I got a little over 50% of the questions correct.
I would say praise god or whatever if I believed in any of that. But it can't be only god and prayers that produce desirable results, however, I would still say I was quite fortunate this time. Being my third application cycle, first two were focused mainly at European universities. Serendipity, providence or whatever the nomenclature caused me to stumble upon this thread and blessed be the day that I read experiences of people here with funded offers, thus rekindling my aspiration for a PhD scholarship and directing my energy where the money is, the US.
Good fortunes to the fall '17 and '18 set who left their experiences here that are still of tremendous benefit to all and sundry, High Star for una!
Thanks to everyone who responded to my posts and inquiries and also those who aspire for an education by taking the GRE. You never know who you may inspire to dream again and go for opportunities for a better life.
Keep contributing!
Blessed be the ones that have contributed and still do here. Y'all should be President of Nigeria.
TL;DR Got a funded admission offer at CUNY GC, the first after 2 rejections. |

Thanks Solihp. I also have an unlocked version of the app so you can download. However the app is not different from manhattan 5lb. It’s better so you can track missed questions et al.

Right... x < 1,200 Time2Smile: Yes, stipend from teaching assistanstship will be enough to cover it. The "FEES" are usually small fees like international students fees, orientation fees and the likes. The fees should not exceed a few hundred dollars. |

Put thoughts to paper and follow guides online. Talk about your educational background, skills you posses, relevant work experience or projects, why you chose the program or why it fits your plans , what you want to do ( research interest), what the program potentially stands to gain for recruiting you, conclude with future goals. There are additional questions that could make the app strong. Working along these lines would be apt! You could use samples for guidance but you should sound like you and genuine! Additionally, apply to more schools, spread your risk! auspicie: helly scholars. My name is Bankole Samsudeen. My Grad. school, University of Ilorin, Nigeria, I studies Science Education with CGPA 4.05/5.00 and masters in education (science education) with a weighted average 70.68% i the year 2011 and 2016 respectively. I am intending to switch, I am applying for M. S. computer science at University of Lousiana, Lafayette and East Tennessee State University. My GRE Score is 301 and my toefl result am expecting it any moment from now. I need a guide on writing a sound statement of purpose in the computer science program. My area of interest is any of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Data Science. Pls anyone with a useful help. Pls I need this as quickly as possible. Thanks |

UGA is a big one! Congrats chief ! elevatedmind: Visa Approved. Dec 21st
VO: What are you going to the US for? Me: my Master's degree in Plant Pathology at the University of Georgia in Athens.
(I think he noticed my GRA)
VO: What's your research going to be on? Me: Molecular diagnosis of plant pathogens and development of effective disease management strategies
VO: What is molecular diagnosis? Me: DNA-based method. Advancement of morphological technique. E.g. PCR... this involves DNA isolation and PCR analysis and subsequently search on the NCBI (I said the meaning of NCBI here) database to determine the genus and specie. (I said this all a little haphazardly).
VO: Are you married Me: No
VO: Do you have kids Me: No
I will be approving your Visa now. Pick up in circled location in 3 business days.
************************************ The Spring admit+funding story above isn't as sugar-coated as it appears (it's been summarized, don't want to bore you guys), there were times of extreme exhaustion/close to giving up on it all (e.g. after getting 307 in the GRE despite the intense prep, after contacting 5 Profs who you thoroughly read their publications and got no reply, etc) but it's all history now... Seems like it never happened in the first place (that's how it will be after getting it, so guys, VIM ON... God's gonna crown your efforts).
Thanks to the originator of this trend (Danjaninja), and all those who shared their stories/contributes in one way or the other. And to ponpon (Boss registered me for both exams), thanks.
Special thanks to my mentors in the house (toakins and jumybecks/bassmana... God bless you both real good).
Wishing Fall 2019 the very best.
Cheers all. |

After you write the GRE what’s next? TOEFL.. After Toefl what’s next. GPA evaluation. after that what’s next. Applications. After application fees, you’ll send transcript to the USA..... Sir you need to man up get something doing seek family and friends because this “hustle” requires serous funds! After admission and funding sef! You’ll spend a fortune on flight, money for student fees, insurance, visa interview , buying stuff et al. If paying for GRE (45k) is the issue now, I’ll say go back to the drawing board and do your maths and permutations. Yankee no Dey run. md17: Good morning house. Merry Christmas in advance. Normally, I wouldn’t ask this on a platform like this, but I ran out of options. I need to re-write the GRE cos I didn’t perform so well on the first. I don’t have enough money to re-register and time is running out. I even tried to sell my phone, but couldn’t get a buyer. I’ll appreciate anyone who can help me. Whatever you have will go a long way. BTW: I’ve been following this thread for about 2 years now, and I know I need to re-write the GRE cos my GPA isn’t stellar.
Thanks everyone.

Start from your official Gre score diagnostics, then if you don’t mind sharing your score then we could know the type of materials to ask you to start with. Some are for building basics and foundation, like McGraw hill quant book, others are for learning tricks and tips... If you are in the mid level I’ll say do Manhattan and Nova but if you’re not you need to work on basics mrcodebreaker: Guys after scoring poorly in my last exam I have decided to rewrite the gre again on the 11th. Please any tips, tricks etc in answering questions faster. My issue was time in the last one. And at the tail end I was just guessing to fill up the answer slots. For my verbal I answer my comprehensions first then go back to the beginning to continue from there for those vocab questions and it gave me time to finish. But my quants is an issue I think I was too slow to be honest this was the one that had me ticking boxes in the end. |
