Realest Real sh*t I’ve seen in recent times here. Miss sureb0y posts. On your own!!! Make your own way!!! Robert6708: Good day everyone, just felt like posting few things on here. Coming to the USA is a first step in a right direction, dont let anyone tell you otherwise, however pls and pls have a plan. i am a newbie here, today marks my 43rd day, school is underway and i am trying to settle in, but trust me there are days frustration walks side by side with me. I know for most (like myself) its all about greener pastures, but then HAVE A PLAN. be prepared, dont just get visa and come with barely 1000$ to your name. people do that all the time and say they will hustle it tru, you may (or not), but its an avoidable disastrous situation in the making. have plans that will cater for your needs for a minimum of 6 months. Coz to be honest, dem no dey share work for street, and as an F1 holder, you cant work (legally) and the school youre in may or may not have employment opportunities for you. Again, dont think youre coming with the hope of relying on anyone, the friends family members (except its direct and immediate) you have would turn out more useless than useful (at lest 80% of the time). Be ready to be innovative and be ready to admit all youve got is yourself. Be independent (ask questions regardless), but plam for yourself such that you can stand on your two feet for as long as you become better submerged in the system. if youre coming with the hopes of the friend you have here without your own plans, sorrry you will most likely be disappointed. I have an elder brother here, who is more like my GEE, but i am charting my own path, i only ask for advice and directions from hom, i am not staying on his neck, we are not even in the same state (thats not to say we wont be linking up now and again). Again, have a plan, go to school, if you wanna stay back, have a plan... have a plan.. even if you forget all i just typed, pls have a plan.. i mean a workable plan. the system wasnt exactly built to favor migrants or foreigners so youve to know youre swimming against the tide, as such u need extra push. its not easy, but its doable. its exciting after getting visa and many people get carried away with the harsh realities theyre coming tp face. have your money, for personal expenses, if youre rich enough get a car. Get a license, make sure you come with ur naija license as this will fast track your license (i aready have mine). Good luck to the ones still on the hustle to get visa, and for those that have gotten theirs and will soon be here, pls have a plan. i am also a newbie, still finding my way around, no much friends (yet), very lonely sometimes... and to make matters worse i dont even know when next i am going to get laid (Tinder dey dull me ) but i serve a living God, i know he will come tru for me. have a great day everyone. |

Sir please shoot me an email Patrick.jimoh60@gmail.com Dewumi054: Good evening Ponpon
I was directed to you by some one. Please I need your help. Don't know how to get to you but I hope you see this in time.
I was denied US visa the last time I applied in April/May which was for summer. I had stated how the interview went but I will post it again in my next comment. I was denied and I had to defer my admission to fall. Now I'm applying again I was told you are studying a related course to what I intend studying in the united state. Please can you share your testimony with me. I mean the questions you were asked during your interview and how you answered each one. Please my interview is just 8days away. In fact, today is gone so i have just 7days left. |

Congrats man! Time to do your part by sharing tips most especially for verbal you did a good job! Nice scores !!! Books that helped and all. Please share! 4gunners: I eventually wrote the 'almighty' Gre at Galaxy Uniprep today. Got to the venue around 9 :00am , after every, every which took about an hour. I and other test takers were ushered in.
The AWS popped up on the screen like play. I tot I was hallucinating when I read the essay prompt. Na wetin I don practice before. It really calmed my nerves, without having to think much I got over it. The argument essay also popped up, na wetin I don practice too. Down within me, I got excited. These were propitious sign.
To keep my long story short, for the real thing, na VQVQV. At the end of the day, got 313. Verbal-159 Quant.-154. I was surprised cos maths na where my strength lies. I hope it will not ciously affect my applicationsince I'm from Engineering background. My first quant section was bad, had to struggle with some question. I noticed the second quant was quite easy, I already knew it will be difficult to reach 160. As regard the verbal part, I knew the meaning of almost the words I encountered, some of the RC were even familiar. It was as if I've seen them before.
My advice for future test takers is for them to practice, practice, practice and practice.
Really want to appreciate everyone on this thread. Bosses in the house, Quoran, Ponpon et al. I sent my scores to Tamuc, University of Arizona, Washington and Arkansas. Am I on the right track?? |

Good news that the GRE requirement for your area of interest is being removed by most schools so you have options and a big chance!!! SplendidGod: Guys please here is my profile Undergraduate (microbiology) CGPA 4.4/5 WES (3.58/4)
Masters (Virology) PhD grade. Don't have the exact CGPA as I'm still processing the transcript.
Publication : 1 Another is currently been peer reviewed. But these are bacterial related. Still working on my virology msc thesis manuscript.
Work experience : 3 years during my msc with other researchers
I intend applying for a PhD in virology.
GRE /TOEFL will be written in October. Don't know how to register yet.
Any hope for funding with these stats? What schools should I be looking at with good virology programs?
Target schools now are; University of Rochester Case Western University I need the ones with sure funding. I don't mind the school ranking.
Work has been intense. I try to make out 2hours daily to prep for gre. Are there smart ways to prep?
