DanjaNinja: Hi Everyone, i hope you all doing fine I know its been ages since i made any post on this thread. To say i've been busy is an understatement. I got married, had my first child and graduated with an Msc in Computer Science in May, 2018. I no go lie, America has been nice to me but i give thanks to God for all the blessings.
I am just writing to let everyone know that no matter what challenge you are currently going through in your life, it's just a temporary situation. Have faith, work hard, keep a positive mindset and God will see you through.
I understand the content of the original post of this thread may require an update. I would try my best to update it. At the same time, please be aware it's been ages since i wrote the GRE and i may not have the latest tips and tricks. Still, i believe the fundamentals remain the same.
Lastly, i want to say a big Thank you to all those who still come to this thread to share valuable information. Na una be the real MVP. May God continue to bless you all.
Una well done o.
P.S: Does any know where a copy of the latest edition of Official GRE Book is sold in Nigeria? Preferably Lagos or Warri? Thanks. Danja!!! Yaba |

Quoran: I agree with you. PhD stuff is a case-by-case scenario. All these 'I know someone who got in with less GRE scores'. It depends on the application pool. The stronger your profile, the better your chances. Truth is as an international applicant test scores mean a lot, core courses and grades in them! Because our research experience is.... LOR is .... Schools admit and fund based on the availability of these funds. The big boys admit y’all when una reach y’all will match up with advisor, some are based on the profs who bring in these funds. But there is a school for every profile. There are places 311 would look like Albert Einstein. Some places it won’t make it to review. So being application smart matters. But those schools I saw are strong ! |

Now I already travelled before noticing this. My exam is tomorrow morning. When my mom and sibling were rejoicing when I told them about the payment. Now How do I explain this to them. I will write tomorrow. But how can I pay $195. All is well God gat our back Linconff why Choi !!! This is serious!!! |

virginice: Sometimes it does...actually know a couple of people it worked for...didn’t work for me too but I am sure sometimes it works from Naija...you even get a Skype interview...that score is not a bad score (my lame thoughts) I got a Skype interview too. What I meant, probably I didn’t compose my response well is that your recommendation by your prof or other parts are weighty to get into those type of programs. They receive a lot of applicants and something must make candidates stand out. And you can’t be the only one with “renewable energy/ cyber security / wood technology” research experience. There are 310+ schools no hassle. There are 320+ schools too... |

Lol...Justwise said dark web...Sounds like something batman would say....
Well, these registration is crystal clean. It's simple and directly from ets. At least for the company I use in registering people, and even the so called companies y'all go to send their registration to be done by us.
I am not judging anybody but at any point complications can happen even when you pay stuff yourself online. If you don't want any hassles pay the 365*212. I know how many utilized the cheap fees to write more than once to enable them reach target scores. Who born who well to dey write 3 times with normal price |

Chidinho10: I have an inquiry to make.
Will there be a problem at POE in JFK if my connecting flight from JFK is 16 hours after my arrival? My flight arrives 4PM and my connecting flight is 8AM the next day. I'm willing to wait cos I can't find a connecting flight from 6PM upwards and I don't want to arrive late at night. I just want to know if it will be an issue at POE.
Thanks as I look forward to your responses. lmao. Sleep, wake up, sleep wake up. Your and come back |

Now that there is an anti GRE movement in graduate programs in the US #GRExit, I guess y'all should be confident enough to tell the VO that your program didn't require the GRE.
Many programs are dropping it as a requirement, about top 50 Biology/Biomed graduate programs have dropped it, Stanford, Cornell, JHU et al 2018. |

There was a lot I wanted to post on this topic but nairaland blocked me, maybe I used some trigger keywords. Quoran: Personally, I don't see much correlation between the GRE and succeeding in graduate school. Yes, the GRE could measure certain abilities but it isn't an overall indicator of success. In my two GRE attempts, the difference in both test outcomes was simply practice and my approach to the examinations. I don't think anything extraordinary happened in between.
Nevertheless, I don't think the GRE should be scrapped as it could be a disadvantage to international students. Schools in the USA don't trust our degrees as such and the GRE is just a way of showing them that despite what they think, we can still measure up. Even though most schools claim they look at applications holistically, sometimes they screen applicants based on their minimum requirement which is usually test scores and GPA.
If the GRE is scrapped, it might be difficult to get into some universities especially the top ones. Some professors have certain biases towards applicant's former university or the reputation of his former thesis supervisor. This is my opinion though. |

Matty91: I truly applaud your optimism for a brother, however, I advice he takes precaution while trying to do so. Texas A&M college station and you sound like a normal human being at the embassy I don’t see a reason he’ll be denied. The increase in price for flights now is not child’s!!! Lol. |

Postfut: I knew this was forthcoming. Just imagine MIT'S renowned Media Lab not requiring it. most biology programs have started the trend. But how do they want to evaluate “us”. They said the GRE puts many people at a disadvantage and its a burden to applicants and performance is based on how much you spend on preparation |

cadmuskosher: My first official post on NL and its intent is to give @ponpon's GRE registration service a 5-star rating.
After sending him an email inquiring about his registration procedures, my "Yoruba" suspicion took over as the account details he provided was a personal account and the entire process did not look as official as my previous one (Yes, I am retaking the GRE... wish me luck). Also, googling his email (Patrick.jimoh60@gmail.com) brought up some not-so-stellar results. I stalled for almost 4 hours, trying to verify his authenticity (as I didn't pluck my 45K from a tree to come and dash one Nigerian dude all in the name of GRE).
Anyways, I spoke with a mutual contact whom we both shared (@ponpon and I). He convinced me that his service was legit. So, I paid the 45K with my heart in my mouth. Within 3 hours, I received the ETS confirmatory email and I was blown away.
I decided to place this review here to assure other intending GRE applicants of his service quality. Thumbs up @ponpon haha. Thank you sir. I’m suspecting you were the one I called FBI. |

StevDesmond: Hi guys
Admitted for Msc in Energy Engineering School: University of Massachusetts lowell Funding: None I have always thought that if one should sponsor one's education abroad, that should be at a top school. Though, I have sponsors, I am afraid if the huge cost of study at UMASS lowell will worth it at the end since it's not considered a top school in USA. Your kind advice would be appreciated I actually don’t know Fredoricko username but I’ll try if I can connect y’all. He’s fall 17 and enrolled at umass Lowell electrical eng or so |

MonsieurCoder: Give us an idea of how this discounted rates come about. I would personally like to know. I have heard stories of people being registered with stolen credit cards and ETS withholding their results. I am not accusing you of anything. I just want to be sure. Idea is not for sharing and it’s not stolen. 1001 people registered since fall 17 and more still registering. |
