European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Tottenham Hotspur Vs Juventus: UCL (1 - 2) On 7th March 2018 by Pope22(m): 6:27pm On Mar 07, 2018
SportsTottenham Spurs VS Juventus (20:45) by Pope22(op): 4:28pm On Mar 07, 2018
Tottenham Hotspur staged a fine fightback to earn a first-leg draw at Juventus, and will look to finish the job as the teams reconvene at Wembley.
Spurs' prospects looked bleak when the Italian champions, through Gonzalo Higuaín, raced into a 2-0 lead within nine minutes at the Juventus Stadium. Harry Kane halved the deficit, however, and after Higuaín had smashed a penalty against the crossbar on the stroke of halftime, Christian Eriksen's second-half free-kick ensured the sides would travel to London level at 2-2 – although with the English club having two potentially vital away goals.
Tottenham have by far the less experience of the two – this is just their second last-16 tie – but will not want for confidence having finished top of a section including holders Real Madrid CF and collected 16 points, more than any other team in this season's competition, including wins in all three home matches.
Juventus finished second behind FC Barcelona in Group D but are in the round of 16 for the ninth time and have plenty of recent knockout pedigree, having reached the final in 2015 and 2017.
Match Background
Tottenham
Having struggled at Wembley in Europe last season, Tottenham won all three matches at the stadium in Group H this time round, prevailing 3-1 against both Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid before a 3-0 defeat of Apoel FC on matchday six.
Before beating Dortmund, Tottenham had won just one of their previous five European home fixtures. They took only three points from their three home group games in 2016/17, losing to AS Monaco FC (1-2) and Bayer 04 Leverkusen (0-1) before a 3-1 victory over PFC CSKA Moskva on matchday six.
Tottenham are unbeaten in their seven home matches against Italian opponents (W4 D3). Overall, their 16 fixtures against Italian teams have ended W5 D7 L4.
They boast a strong record in two-legged ties against Italian opponents: W4 L1. The sole defeat was a 3-1 aggregate reverse against ACF Fiorentina in the 2014/15 Uefa Europa League round of 16 (1-1 home, 0-2 away); they beat the Viola in their most recent game against Italian opposition, winning 3-0 at home at the same stage of the 2015/16 competition to complete a 4-1 aggregate success; Erik Lamela scored the second goal.
Tottenham have won all six of the Uefa competition ties in which they drew the away first leg, most recently that 2016 tie with Fiorentina (1-1 away, 3-0 home). They beat RSC Anderlecht on penalties in the 1984 Uefa Cup final after drawing 1-1 both away and in London.
Spurs have never recorded a 2-2 draw in an away first leg before.
Tottenham's record in three Uefa penalty shoot-outs is W1 L2:
1-4 v FC Basle 1893, 2012/13 Uefa Europa League quarterfinal
5-6 v PSV Eindhoven, 2007/08 Uefa Cup round of 16
4-3 v RSC Anderlecht, 1983/84 Uefa Cup final
Juventus
The Italian side's record in the round of 16 is W5 L3. Twelve months ago they beat FC Porto 3-0 on aggregate at this stage (2-0 away, 1-0 home) having lost to FC Bayern München at the same stage in 2015/16.
Juve opened this season with a 3-0 loss at Barcelona but are unbeaten in their last six games (W3 D3), qualifying for the knockout stages thanks to a 2-0 win at Olympiacos FC on matchday six. • Juve collected four points on their travels in this season's group stage to finish second behind Barcelona in Group D, picking up a 1-1 draw at Sporting in between the defeat in Spain and win in Greece.
The 0-0 draw at Barcelona in last season's quarterfinal second leg was the only one of Juve's six away matches in 2016/17 that they failed to win, with five clean sheets and just one goal conceded to 12 scored. Defeat at the Camp Nou on matchday one ended a six-game unbeaten away run in Europe.
Juve are on a seven-match (W3 D4) unbeaten run against Premier League clubs, winning their last three fixtures before this tie – most recently a 1-0 home defeat of Manchester City FC in the 2015/16 group stage.
The Bianconeri's record away to English clubs is W3 D6 L12. Their most recent trip brought a 2-1 win at City in September 2015, extending their unbeaten away run against Premier League sides to three matches (W1 D2); Juve had lost their previous seven games in England.
Juve's record in two-legged knockout ties against English clubs is W5 L8. They have lost the last five ties, most recently to Fulham FC in the 2009/10 Uefa Europa League round of 16 (3-1 home, 1-4 away).
Juve have won all but two of the eight Uefa competition ties in which they drew the home first leg. The sole exceptions are the first, against Wolverhampton Wanderers FC in the 1971/72 Uefa Cup quarterfinals when a 1-1 home draw preceded a 2-1 away loss, and the most recent, against Bayern in the 2015/16 Uefa Champions League round of 16.
Then, as now, Juve were held 2-2 in the Turin first leg; Bayern were 4-2 winners after extra time in the Munich return. Juventus had won both their previous Uefa competition ties where the home first leg finished 2-2; against Borussia Dortmund in the 1994/95 Uefa Cup semifinals (2-1 away) and Djurgårdens IF in the 2004/05 Uefa Champions League third qualifying round (4-1 away).
• The Italian team's shoot-out record is W3 L3:
2-3 v AC Milan, 2002/03 Uefa Champions League final
4-2 v AFC Ajax, 1995/96 Uefa Champions League final
1-3 v Real Madrid CF, 1986/87 European Cup second round
4-2 v Argentinos Juniors, 1985 European/South American Cup final
1-4 v Widzew Lódz, 1980/81 Uefa Cup second round
3-0 v Ajax, 1977/78 European Cup quarterfinal

What They Said?
Mauricio Pochettino, Tottenham manager
We are going to face one of the best teams in the history of football – a team that have played two Champions League finals in the last three years. It will be a fantastic battle. If we perform to our best then we have a chance of winning. I am a dreamer and every chance that you have to play, you need to try to win and go as far as possible.
Massimiliano Allegri, Juventus coach
We have to put in a performance and get a result, otherwise we'll be going out. We have to be very positive. They like to keep possession, keep the ball moving and we need to disrupt that. These games at the highest level are all about taking your chances. I don't know how Spurs are going to play, but we'll have to be a lot better technically than in the first leg.
Possible line-ups
Tottenham: Lloris; Trippier, Sánchez, Vertonghen, Davies; Dier, Dembélé; Son, Alli, Eriksen; Kane
Out: Aurier (suspended), Alderweireld (hamstring)?
Misses next match if booked: none
Juventus: Buffon; Lichtsteiner, Benatia, Chiellini, Alex Sandro; Khedira, Pjanic, Matuidi; Dybala, Douglas Costa, Higuaín
Out: Cuadrado (groin), Bernardeschi (knee), Mandžukic (thigh)
Doubtful: De Sciglio (hamstring), Higuaín (ankle)
Misses next match if booked: Benatia, Bentancur, Pjanic

The council has the constitutional duties of advising the president in the exercise of his powers with respect to national census, prerogative of mercy, award of national honours, the Independent National Electoral Commission, the National Judicial Council and the National Population Commission. It also has the responsibility of advising the president whenever requested to do so, on the maintenance of public order within the federation or any part thereof.
Meanwhile, the National Assembly, on Friday, February 16, said it would not hesitate to invoke the relevant session of the Nigerian 1999 constitution, and

As we all know, many people believe the children of pastors are mostly wayward.
I for example, I'm a female and my dad is a pastor in Deeper life Bible Church and trust me I've been looking for ways to leave the church. My dad isn't even helping matters, he has serious temper issues that makes him say things that gets me, my mum and siblings angry. I really do not see myself getting married in his church. Please tell me if I'm doing the right thing. Because i feel we all have our lives to live.
I need your advice because I'm already fed up of my dad's attitude and the church's doctrines.

You can also share similar experiences. If you have any
Thank you.
Is your mother still attending her father's church after marriage? If yes, is she still attending her father's church because her father insisted or because they coincidentally belong to same church? Answer the question yourself. So if you agree to marry me now for love sake, you will continue attending your father's church if that's not my church? Are you marrying your father?

I hate journalists and the way they interpret things. It has even affected the way masses understand things. The man of God is not telling the world what he is worth, he is simply telling the world that if you are a true child of God, that your worth is limited and that you are bigger than anything or any amount beyond human imagining.

I don't blame them because even Buhari himself will be surprised on how much they spent and how they used his treatment abroad to become billionaires
PoliticsWhy We Can’t Tell Nigerians What Buhari Spent For Treatment Abroad – CBN by Pope22(op): 11:17am On Feb 16, 2018
The Central Bank of Nigeria and its Governor, Godwin Emefiele, have argued that it was not within their immediate responsibilities to provide information to Nigerians on the treatment of President Muhammadu Buhari or what it cost the country to keep the presidential aircraft and crew for 103 days at the Stansted Airport in the United Kingdom while President Buhari’s medical treatment lasted.
They made this know yesterday while opposing a suit requesting them to provide information on the money spent on President Buhari’s treatment in London, United Kingdom.
They stated this in their papers filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja in opposition to the suit marked, FHC/ABJ/CS/1142/2017.
The suit was instituted by the Incorporated Trustees of Advocacy for Societal Rights Advancement and Development Initiative led by its Executive Director, Adeolu Oyinlola.
ASRADI said in the suit that the CBN and its governor refused to honour its Freedom of Information request contained in its letter of October 19, 2017.
But, in their counter affidavit filed on February 13, 2018, the CBN and its governor urged the court to reject the applicant’s prayers and dismiss the suit.
They equally urged the court to vacate an earlier ex parte order granting leave to the applicant to apply for “a prerogative order of mandamus” compelling them to provide the information requested.
They admitted receiving the October 19, 2017 letter from ASRADI, but forwarded it to the President’s Chief of Staff, who they believed was the proper person to provide the information sought by the applicant.
The CBN and its governor accused the applicant of failing to inform the court that they wrote it, informing the group to resort to the President’s Chief of Staff for the information it sought.
They stated, “Upon the receipt of the applicant’s application for information, the bank (CBN) transferred the same application to the office of the Chief of Staff to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“The particular information sought by the applicant related to the overseas medical expenses incurred on the President of Nigeria, General Muhammadu Buhari and the aircraft parking fees at the Stansted Airport in the UK.”
The CBN and its governor added that having transferred the applicant’s request to the President’s Chief of Staff in line with the requirement of the Freedom of Information Act, the request should have been made to the President’s Chief of Staff.
The plaintiff’s letter had sought information on the amount they released for Buhari’s medical treatment in London and the amount they paid on behalf of the Nigerian government as parking fees for keeping the presidential aircraft and crew in the UK while the President’s treatment lasted.
In the suit, with the CBN, its governor and the Attorney General of the Federation as respondents, ASRADI sought a declaration that the respondents’ refusal to provide it with information sought through its letter of October 19, 2017 “amounts to a wrongful denial of information and is a flagrant violation of the provisions of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2011.”
It also sought an order compelling the respondents to furnish it with information sought in the letter of October 19, 2017, and a further order, mandating the CBN and its governor to pay the plaintiff N10m in damages “for the wilful refusal of the 1st and 2nd respondents to release information in respect of the applicant’s letter dated October 19, 2017.”
In a supporting affidavit, Oyinlola contended that it was within the responsibilities of the CBN and its governor to provide the requested information saying they “are responsible for all foreign currency transactions of the Nigerian government or transactions involving the Federal Government of Nigeria and foreign institutions concerning transfer of money outside the shores of Nigeria.”
Oyinlola further stated that in the interest of the Nigerian public, the court should grant his group’s prayers to compel the respondents to declare the requested information because ASRADI was daily inundated with demands from the public to investigate the amount of taxpayers’ money spent on treating the President in London and keeping a presidential aircraft there for 103 days.
Justice John Tsoho has adjourned till April 17 for the hearing of the main suit along with any objection filed by any of the respondents.
