The refinery is situated in Lekki Free Zone, i believe this location is faraway from lagos but sincerely, pollution will reduce the value of land around that area.

LAGOSIANS IS REFINERY GOOD OR BAD FOR YOU SINCE IT IS LOCATED IN LAGOS?

Why I ask is because, in my own opinion, what is happening in oil rich areas might happen in Lagos. Things like air pollution land pollution especially oil spills, which will reduce the value of land in those area. I don't think people will be able to go to the beach to relax anymore! You see we should be thinking of the future and not "I wan chop am now now" mentality and that is why I say is it GOOD OR BAD? SHARE YOUR OPINION
I also worry that what's happening in Port Harcort with the black sooth might start happening in lagos too.

But greediness wouldn't have allowed them to do the needful.

I'm not even looking at the crude waste which I want to believe they'll have schematics in its blueprints to accommodate waste disposal

What about the heat it generates?

If we work the maths, a cooling pot of water boils water to 100 C Celsius and becomes hot. Let's use that as a multiplier effect.

650,000 barrels daily

Fertilizer production

It's going to generate a heat wave SW has never witnessed before. Mark this comment down I said so. Even the wide Atlantic ocean won't be able to absorb the heat completely. Because before now traffic heat, and industrial capacity has been generating large amount of heat waves.

We can't be too astute in these discussions. The back lash will come. They hate Lagos, they aren't from Lagos Bla Bla bla

My own concern is I've moved myself and my family. Far as possible. I may return, b it only after I've studied the environmental impact for the first 3 to 5 years of it's operations.
You have spoken quite well but I want to allay your fears a little.
1. The refinery has a massive design and it's also a Petrochemical company. In other words, the refinery also has a Petrochemical plant that ensures all parts of crude is used in producing other substances so no disposal of crude waste as such

2. There are cooling towers for extracting heat and recycling it for usage. No spillage or very minimal spillage of heat

That's what they fail to pay attention to. Greed and the lust of wanting to overtake everyone is blinding eyes to reality

My family stay close to the area. I've told them all to run. And vacate the territory that the money people would generate would be used in treating cancer and all. I was around Ajah before.

From the hold up to the unhealthy air, I calculated the completion time of the refinery and made sure I ran as far as possible to a complete far place from that entire axis.

Before the refinery, Lagos has a highly toxic air. Now to add to it, what would be the resultant cumulative environmental impact on living, air, the Atlantic ocean, traffic etc.

Nigerians and greed are 5 and 6. Thats why Nigerians only look at Pros without looking at Cons. I ain't buying a single foot of land in that terrain. Lai lai
Before vibrating around, go and study the Warri refinery environment and the Kaduna own too. Houses are all over the place and I wonder where you guys get these crazy ideas from.

just watch he will turn the place into Apapa Wharf and destroy the roads and traffic will be unbearable
BAD IDEA

Building right by the ocean so he can add more CO gas from the refinery into the air which will cause more terrible rains.

Is there no environmentalist in nigeria?

Even though it is remotely situated, I don't think is a bad one as far as the ecology of Lagos is concerned.

I live near a refinery here abroad, I have never seen air pollution or oil spill. It all depends on safety measures etc being put in place. Shell and Chevron cannot try what they are doing in Niger Delta while in Europe. Remember what happened to BP when it spilled oil in the ocean in US. They will be liquidated in no time. If we don’t kill corruption, corruption will kill us.
