@oscarwilde another IT related area you can look at going into is data analytics...your branch manager job role give you a lot of leeway to show how you worked with data, google has a new data analytics certification out which is meant to be their alternative to a four year degree. You can look it up

Will do... thank you.

Hi my people, help us put mouth for this matter ooo. She came into the UK pregnant with CoS from her employer. Pregnancy was declared before leaving home country but she isn't entitled to SMP/paid mat leave). She made an attempt to apply for maternity allowance when her visa says no public fund. Is she allowed to take maternity allowance? Will this affect her subsequent renewal of visa?
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by chrisj2(m): 11:34am On Mar 25, 2021
This should have been an issue that she raised with the employer that employed a pregnant woman. Why would she be claiming maternity allowance from the state?

The issue might not register as regards her subsequent visa applications because she was unsuccessful anyway. But if she had been claiming, that could have been an issue if discovered...

There is SMP and MP .... since she joining mid way to her pregnancy, she might not qualify for SMP as it breaks this requirement : you have been employed by your employer for a continuous period of at least 26 weeks into the qualifying week..... however she should then qualify for MP

SMP and MP are not public funds....I am 100 percent sure of that... you can confirm online on .gov website as it the source of truth.

Devops is too hard, and ROI is not commensurate with the amount of training you have to do, especially as a newbie to the IT industry.

Please land first before you make any commitments. I am not going to be the one to give you the review about digital bananas but one thing I know is that you can learn all the skills you need to succeed in this country without paying a dime.

I don't thinks SMP or MA has got anything to do with your visa status.

Digital Bananas is not for everybody. People make it using them but recruiters are increasingly becoming sceptical. There can be hidden costs too, depending on the mood of the owner. Start learning online then consider cheaper paid services like Udemy and Udacity. love-vendor your CV and send out those applications.

Hmmmmm AWS

I will advise you start from Office 365 / Exchange Online and Azure, then start from there
AWS is more developer centric but if u start from azure which is user friendly, u can then transition to AWS

@tushqueen...

... Made an attempt to claim maternity allowance...? And what happened after the attempt.

SMA not public funds but however, it appears from my understanding that MA might in some ways be claiming from public funds. You are only entitled to Maternity allowance if not on SMA and whatever you get affects your other benefits. In essence, it is linked to the whole benefit system and entitlement.

Moreover, you have to have made a certain amount of NI contributions to get most benefits including this MA.

Simple reason:
Because the UK is an island and the COVID-19 pandemic did not reach the UK.

On a more serious note/ What kind of part time jobs are you looking for?
