Some schools take as long as three months, this is barely a month, be a little patient. You can get your bank account ready to match up the cost of attendance while you wait.

I finished my master program on scholarship here in Turkey and i have just been accepted into the master program at Georgia State University for Fall 2021 with tuition waiver and graduate lab assistantship position but with a meagre stipend (not upto my expectation).

I have upto 1 month to decide to accept or not because I still have about 8 other pending decisions from other schools that I am waiting for.

I guess I should wait for a school with better offer. What do you guys think? Anybody with any idea about this school? Is it a school with good reputation?

How much is the meagre stipend? And have you checked the average stipend paid to graduate assistants in the USA to compare yours?

the only way for you to know next available dates is by checking your CGI Account
But don’t spam the site checking plenty times a day at least twice or three times a day with intervals if not they would block you out for 72 hours

3 offers of admission, no funding (I have written to all professors possible). My sponsor can afford Missouri State, not others. I heard it's not good to choose school based on only affordability that once you can pay the first semester, you'll find you way around.

There's nothing wrong with choosing an accredited school that offers your intended program, and is also affordable. You just have to present your answers very well to the VO. Anyways, please plan to have your first year (fall and spring semesters) tuition and fees at hand before leaving Naija. There is no other way around it once you land in the U.S. sha...

It is 5,000 dollars per year for a graduate lab assistant. Some American schools pay more than that.

At a graduate level, the admission decision in most schools are done by the department...so, someone else in those schools could have gotten a decision if they are not in your department.

My department in OSU (computer) said "by the end of march", haven't gotten anything yet.

You should also check the type of admission decision your school/program does (rolling based or a regular admission decision)...this matters as well.

Another option is to send a mail to the Graduate coordinator for your department, you should find a contact on your school's website and they tend to answer on time.

Lol...a school waived your full tuition and offered you monthly stipends and you dey here dey complain about "meagre stipend". Abeg, how many Nigerian Universities have given you such an offer? If you are smart, you would take the offer, get here and make the best of it. You can also apply for other scholarships and hustle for summer internships if you want more money.

I would have advised you to go for your masters like the gurus here would've recommended but you're concerned about your grade. As for your chances, I honestly can't speak to it. I know very little but yet again, your chances of getting a Visa for an undergraduate degree decreases with increase in age (especially if you're over 21). However, nothing is impossible.

Currently it can't be paid through Western Union in the United States. I don't know what us wrong.

See ehn it is not like that. The thing is once u taste free money outside Nigeria it will seems like it's your right. I got a rejection from a dept and the advisor I was chatting me emailed that it was due to funding that there might be openings soon and they will give me. My response to the prof was as if it was my right. Later I felt bad in my Nigeria way for sending d email but later it was just like a normal email and d prof even felt he shouldn't have responded at that time.

So really don't blame him, he expected something better, and as I have said it is very sweet to get money from school and not bother about the fees.

Thanks for the response. I am Mechanical PhD. My dept in OSU have accepted me and even organised a webinar where they sent me $25 meal ticket BUT I am yet to receive any formal admission letter stating funding (as they subtlely promised).....I guess I should wait till "end of March" just as you said for your dept.

The resolution on Council of Graduate schools has an April 15th deadline so I believe all of us should get feedback on/before that date, hopefully.

I just sent a mail to GC of Pittsburgh(rolling) and another. They said my application is still under review (but I am not too trusting). I guess I keep my fingers crossed.

Mind sharing your grade?? Someone on the WES thread claimed to have evaluated his HND and his CGPA increased from 2.65 to 3.07. You should consider this.

That's a remarkable school bro. What's your definition of a meagre stipend? I think youre among the very fortunate ones who believe funding is their birthright.

The school is a good school. If you're waiting for other decisions then weigh your chances and decide quickly, some one else will so much appreciate this funding you call "meagre".

Be quick to reject admissions you won't be going to,so many people are on waitlist, have that at the back of your mind.

The money will not do much for him though except his housing is waived too. If it were to be an RA he got, the stipend would be more. Lab assistantship does not pay much. I will advise he waits for the other school and make the best decision for him. A lot of factors will still be considered.
