The challenge here is once you excel you'll not be at the level of those who haven't. People take you more seriously, they come looking for your expertise, they refer you to others, you do become a thought leader of sorts. So does this go against this stricture?
unfortunately, the bible failed to teach him that the system of hierarchies in embedded in our DNA. We cant do without having leaders. That's how they ignorantly vouch for socialism.

You can actually do without that is what Jesus Christ taught His followers, He Himself never, in fact, setting up such a system for them, calling them to instead do as He did. undecided

The people who rule the world already rule it. They were ruling when Jesus Christ was in the world and they are still ruling it even to this day. undecided

Now , I refer you back to my first comment on this thread for the answers you pretend have yet to be provided you.

Yes. Joseph was in govt, Daniel too. Paul was a rising civil servant before his conversion.
But does it not matter to you what Jesus said about politics, and how the first century Christians abided by this instruction from their master?
Be careful not to allow personal preference from blurring the truth to you. It is the same as someone saying today that it is ok for a Christian to have more than one wife because God allowed it among his faithful worshippers in the old testament, people like Abraham, David and the rest of them.

Who is a Genuine christian and who is not? Are you now occupying the judgement seat of Christ?
A follower of Jesus Christ is one who accepts and obeys the teachings/commandments of Jesus Christ, and this according to Jesus Christ Himself. .. those who love Him are those who obey His teachings/commandments. It says so right there in the Gospels.

You are indeed free to interpret His teachings and works as you choose to.
According to the story, the man had no political dealings as His focus was on God and the things of God as far as His Kingdom was concerned. And His good deeds were not to buy political clout in this World, nor in His Kingdom. According to Him, He served His disciples and people as a servant would... Herod and the Pharisees who were the leaders of that time never did any of that. undecided
Yes, the leaders at the time(The priests, and High priests, the Pharisees, and teachers of the Law, etc.) felt threatened by Him because He had and showed no respect for their offices and their opinions, especially where God is concerned - the power they wielded over the people. But that wasn't of Jesus's fault now, was it. undecided
And when asked whether He was the leader/King of the Jews, Jesus Christ was quite clear in making it clear to them that His Kingdom was not of this world. undecided
Yeah he's Kingdom was not of this world but how did he win so many crowd over? He used politics . Politics is a way of life, it's everywhere. tongue tongue

That's left to the individual. If you want to Do good you'll do it no matter where you are. Let's look at the wicked kings in the Bible. Check the Bible all the wicked kings brought hardship on the people. Except for the few wicked kings who later had just people like Nehemiah and Daniel and Joseph. Daniel filled together with so many wicked kings but he became a guide to them, he kept doing good, he stood by his ethics and God stood by him and at last his good did prevailed at the end.

As Christians we are to let our light shine any where we are. If we refuse to go into politics, who will shine the light amongst this people? Those of you who are scared to go into politics should not discourage those who want to go by coming up with different opinions from the Bible to back up your claim because the Bible never condemned or admonished that Christians should not go into politics, Jesus himself never said we should not go into politics. The least you people can do is to pray that God should raise up men like Daniel, Joseph , Nehemiah and others who will stand for the right and change the system and country for good.

If you want to think of it that way, sure. But from reading the book, the man actually went around doing good on a individual level, for those whose hearts he was able to win over, something the vast majority of your politicians have never been able to do. undecided

Even if we are to assume in some way that it was all political on His part, it was and remains unlike anything your politicians of this world have been able to make happen. undecided

I posted it too. Matthew 20 vs 20 -28
No part of 20 - 28 said anything against being in government, nothing as such, infact you just misinterpreted the picture completely, I pray God grant you wisdom.
so it is unbelievers that should be the government, what sort of horrific idea is that, Even Jesus would never say anything as such, the verse you quoted is misinterpreted and totally out of contest

Thanks for your response!

God never intended to choose kings for the Israelites and that's clear from what transpired between God and Samuel.
Yes due to the covenant He made with Abraham God kept putting up with the flaws of his people {Matthew 23:37} so he can't leave their human kings unattended to since they'll be in place until his choice (Jesus) comes, that's why God was guiding the Kings this people demanded not that God was pleased with the idea!

It's God's word (Jesus Christ not me) who said Satan is the overall ruler of the world {John 14:30} and it was evident during the time Satan tempted Jesus, he offered Jesus all the Kingdoms (Governments) of this world. Jesus won't wait a second to refute this claim if Satan is not the brain behind the world's Government! Luke 4:6-8 compare to John 18:36

When Jesus launched his own campaign for rulership he made us know what we will experience in the midst of those under his own rule: there will be LOVE permeating the group of people under Jesus' rule {John 13:34-35} and PEACE will be their watchword! John 14:27

Those under Satan's Government will continue to practice what is written in the Bible book of Galatians 5:19-21 while Jesus' own subjects are experiencing Galatians 5:22-23.

So it's not disputable, if you're a politician today know that what's written in Galatians 5:19-21 will continue to hunt you and those with you, no matter how good you try to be you will continue to sit alongside those PRACTICING Galatians 5:19-21 it's not a CURSE but reality. Psalms 1:1

That's why Jesus and his disciples forbade Politics completely. smiley
In other words God wants man to live without a government right?
or God wants his children to be ruled by agent of the darkness here on earth righ?
I don't understand this mentality

When you read God's word as cited by someone, what exactly comes to your mind?
Are we to disregard not minding what it mean or we deliberate on its PRACTICAL APPLICATION?
Jesus said "my kingdom is not of this source" {John 18:36} he was accused, arrested, arraigned, prosecuted, convicted, judged, sentenced and executed by the government of this world!
And ever since then his disciples have become the target of Satan's agents {Ephesians 6:12} and Jesus ordered us not to fight back but to flee (RUN) away from them {Matthew 10:23} now you're hearing for the first time in your life that a certain group of people are STRICTLY in submission to all these sayings and all you are thinking is about mentality, shey? undecided
Well for your information, even Jesus' own contemporaries never thought of him as mentally balanced after hearing his admonitions! {John 10:20} and his own relatives also sad he (Jesus) was MAD! Mark 3:21
So are you willing to learn or you just want to see his true followers today the same way people view Jesus back then? Matthew 10:22-25; John 15:19 smiley

A very big YES! Christians can and should get involved in politics in Nigeria. Until a Christian party is formed by genuinely born again Christians, then the scriptures that talks about the peace and joy to the people because the righteous is ruling will never come to pass, while the sorrow, mourning and evils of the wicked in politics as presently seen will endure. We must be clear about the Christians we are talking about. Many Nigerians erroneously believe anyone with church affiliation or goes to church is a Christian. Foul foul foul grin

Election like salvation is not by selection... let's not mix the abnormalities we have in Nigeria as election and salvation. By their fruits, you shall know them. THERE ARE STILL MORE GOD-FEARING AND GENUINELY BORN AGAIN CHRISTIANS IN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SERVICES.

If by "Spiritual" walkinh according to the teachings/commandments of Jesus Christ, then sure I am guilty since Jesus Christ, the one many of you also claim to believe in, declared that only those who accept(trust) and obey His teachings/commandments, not just when it is convenient, are worthy of Him... those are the ones who are called Children of God. undecided

If His declaration as far as entering into gentile system of politics solicits this sort of reaction from you, then I wonder what to expect when you realize that Jesus Christ even goes as far as to suggest you love your enemies even more than you love your own selves. shocked

According to Jesus Christ, the righteous who believe in Him are instead slated to rule, not before, but after His return. undecided
Recall that in His New Covenant, Jesus Christ said something like, "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven" and " Blessed are the poor in Spirit for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven". undecided

In comparison with the millions of miscreants in our society, how many are the BORN AGAIN that want such persons in the position of authority?
Don't forget that the election will not prevent others from voting so if it's going to be by Democratic process which is Government of the people by those selected through the votes of the majority, do you think the miscreants in the society will allow your so called BORN AGAIN Christians to come and rule over them most especially when they also have a say?

A big yes, from scripture there were many great men who were in government from David, Nehemiah, Daniel and lot more, this is where the church is getting it wrong we want change but we allow corrupt men to be in helm of affairs, Christians must go into politics to advance the kingdom of God.
David, Nehemiah and Daniel were not Christians and as such not the examples Christians are instructed to model their lives after. Jesus Christ is the one Christians are called to emulate and become as.

Hey guys the real fact remains politics or most people doing politics are dirty that doesn't make everyone doing politics to be.
Genuine Christians who decides to do politics should only realize that some things are out of their control and if they refuse, they become the bad egg ready to be flushed out.
You can be a good Christian and still be in politics, Christianity is between you and your God.
But your Christian reputation as perceived by men might be questioned when your followers question your administrations actions
You might be clean but the dirt of the tank underneath could still affect you
But in all of History can you recall or name even one so called genuine Christian politician?
