Apapa Seaport Is Own By Ijaws Not Yoruba by Timonaira: 9:42am On Mar 31, 2021 |
The biggest seaport in Nigeria named the Apapa seaport terminal is actually sited on Ijaw land. Just like Ijawra (Ijora), Idumuagbo, Kirikiri (which means land in Ijaw) and other coastal communities in Lagos. Apapa is also owed by the earliest Ijaw settlers in Lagos. Matter of fact Apapa means groundnut in Ijaw language It was named by the minority natives who were fishing there when the seaport was built to export ground nut from kano . The sea port became known as groundnut port which is apapa port. 1 Like 1 Share

Timonaira: Firstly, in 1920, Amodu Tijani Oluwa , a traditional chief (Idejo) in Lagos, (a descendant of Olofin Ogunfunminire, the progenitor of the Awori people) challenged the compulsory acquisition without compensation of his family land in Apapa by the British Administrators of Lagos. His family branch of the descendants of Olofin Ogunfunminire has the dominion of all villages in Apapa before the Brits forcefully grabbed parts of their land. He lost his appeal at the Supreme Court (Nigeria) and took the case to the Privy Court Council in London. Herbert Olayinka Macaulay (the man on one naira note & coin) was his lawyer & secretary. They won the case. CASE REFERENCE: Amodu Tijani vs. The Secretary of the Southern Provinces (1921) So how is Apapa Ijawland? Timonaira:Ijora people (Ijora-Badia), just like the people in Apapa, Ebute-Metta, Iddo, Otto, Isheri, Ìkòyí, Irú (Victoria Island), Iganmu, Agboyi, Ogudu, Ojo, Itire, Mushin, Isolo, Ijanikin, etc. in Lagos are descendants of Olofin Ogunfunminire. As a matter of fact, the present Ojora of Ijora and the previous Oniru of Irú are 1st cousins, so dead your distortion now! Timonaira: I asked about Idumagbo in my thread in the link below, but you couldn't provide any answers till the great TAO11 give an intelligible answer , yet you're here making bogus claims. https://www.nairaland.com/6409169/what-does-ukoruama-lagos-mean Ogbeni, go and rest abeg 10 Likes 1 Share |

The Idejo families include Oniru - they owned Iru (present day Victoria Island & Maroko) Onikoyi - they owned Ikoyi Ojora - they owned Ijora Oluwa - they owned Oluwa (present day Apapa) Oloto - they owned Oto Onitolo & Aromire families - together they owned Idumota Onisiwo _ they owned Tarkwa Bay & Ogogoro village Elegushi – they owned Ikate Elegushi. etc. 11 Likes 3 Shares

Yoruba have to encourage more Igboho, more Fasehun OPC, etc to fight off invaders when this country separates. If you think they can survive on their own land, you do not know them. They have to seek out Yoruba land to make a living. This is why every one of them claim relationship to the West. Yet, they cry everyday that they want their own country. These people can never survive on their own without the West. 1 Like |
