Though the Video look severely doctored, I think it's a MANPADS. Check between time stamp 0:04 - 0:05 there was a pathway of travel of the missile, I think it's way thicker than an AA

I hope the military command won't sleep on this cos Iswap would definitely try to take advantage of what happened and attack on full scale

Guys, please help me understand this...

How is it that a fighter jet was shot down and NAF could not tell its last position before it went off the radar? How is it that we were all in limbo and 'Insha Allah' until Boko Haram released videos and pictures?

I'm just struggling to understand these things because as a former Telco guy that used to monitor the network, within 30mins a site goes down, a technical team in that axis is dispatched to site to assess the situation and bring back om air.

So how does a fighter jet go off the radar and we all had to wait for Boko haram to announce the fate of the jet and officers. Just so ridiculous! 3 whole days and nothing definite!!! If it was the president and his family's plane that went off radar would the response be the same? Or even if it was some VIP flying over the region?

Definitely they will know more about what you just highlighted, probably they didn't want to disseminate the whole information just yet.

I will also say the new CAS has been poor in PR. Didn't he learn anything from Sadique rtd. I expect him to release some bombardment footages before the end of next week to boost our moral

The NAF knew all along where it happened.

Like I will always say here any Land 3Km outside a military trench remains a BH/ISWAP territory.

RIP Gallant men.

We really need to wake up and deal with these bastards ruthlessly. cool

That video was heavily edited, nobody knows what brought down that aircraft.

There are no signs of shrapnel, so it couldn't have been a Manpad.

RIP to the pilots.

The aviation sector is quite different from what is obtainable in Telecom sector. It will be very easy to pin point a fault in telcos because they have stations scattered almost everywhere. For Aviation an aircraft may lose signal/contact in say 40nautical miles from base and the pilot may crash a further 20 or 30nautical miles from the point at which they loss contact with mission control. In a typical search and rescue operation they'll have to sweep the entire general area looking at out for signs of smoke etc weather could hamper such operations, terrain, thickness of the forest in the area etc. as most likely any tracker in the aircraft must have been destroyed in the crash. What can be done at best is to know the general area where it happened.
Even the US couldn't pinpoint the crash site of one of their F-16 Pilot during the heat in Bosnia, it took almost six days before he was located and that was because he transmitted his location with his handheld radio.

The video was edited. How come the corpse in that video looks like a week dead body?.. There is one thing I don't understand., if truly boko haram brought it down. Does that mean The jet fighter dont have missile alerts or missile flares to give the missiles wrong course, that's to tell u how antique the jet fighters Nigeria has been acquiring, and they will spend the money to buy properties in Dubai, and other places killing young Nigerian pilots. Terrible

This is what a manpad attack on a jet looks like, you can clearly see the smoke trail.

Why is this not present in the ISWAP video, instead we see an enhanced clearly edited explosion.

MOFOs had a LUCKY shot.....
High altitude flights and aggressive area bombing (artillery pieces will do if we don't have the planes) are possible solutions.

The planners in the air force and army need to come up with an overblown response to this incidence. Let the ID-OTS know that in this war, such actions attract excessively, disproportionate, overblown reactions.Fear suppose catch them to hold gun sef anytime they see anything in the air..... Even if na baloon

I think so too, probably he was finished off during his descent. Coz his phones and other effects, were not really too damaged. Even the copy of Signal they had was unscathed
What kind of flight brief will start with introduction of the platform we have been using for years and not the actual mission specifics itself?
