I'm confused at the bolded. I thought as a student, you're allowed to work 120 days full time in a year and 240 days half. Since you took a full time job, how are you able to balance that? Does that mean you will have to stop working at a certain time during the year so as to not go overboard your work limit. Please do explain when you can.

Very good question.
You are 100% correct. As a student in Germany, you have 120 full day to work in a year and 240 half days to work in a year.
Full day is 5-8hrs a day
Half day is 4 hrs or less

So because I took a full time job since last year, I can work until June this year, plus my one month and few days paid vacation which I plan taking next semester. Everything will last around August.
So after my 120 days finishes in that company I will be told that I can't work with them again this year because of the 120 days clause, then I can stick with the other mini job company and expand my mini contract to part-time job and continue.
The minijob is 240 days a year which means I can't overspend it even after converting to part-time around September.
They have the option of expanding your contract if you want.

In Germany companies protect your data from other companies which means company A does not know how many hours you have worked in company B, that's why they ask you to tell them how many days you have worked for the year before employing you because they don't have that data until you tell them and whatever you tell them is what they work with.
I have many instances to give but I am busy now maybe later.

Good, na working sure pass. Do you then extend your student visa to commensurate with the extra semesters?

Exactly, but depending on your city, your academic transcript might be demanded before the extension which means you should also be doing your courses as you work because your courses show in your transcript which might be demanded before extension.
If the visa officer feels you have done very few courses, she/he might ask you to explain why you have only done few number of courses during your two years stay in Germany.

Thanks for your response bro. This makes a whole lot of sense already. Even though I can imagine the stress even though I know you're reaping the benefits.

Please I sent you a DM. Will be glad to get a response.

It's nice to see that you are still active on Nairaland and replying comments on your thread. I read your first post last year. I am hoping to relocate to Canada and if the weather is too cold for me, I would move to Germany.

Cheers.

Hello Basalt,

Thanks for the information you have shared here - love it!

We both have a degree in Geophysics. I'd like to ask though, what can you say about an Msc in Natural Resource Management or Energy & Engineering Management, in Germany?

What are the prospects for one with the degree after studies?

I have noticed a number of people going over to Germany to study for a Master's degree in Energy related Management programmes. Could you please enlighten me?

Thanks in anticipation!

What can you say about racism in Germany? How strong is it? I learnt Germans are still much of racists than other Europeans or westerners all together.

It's a great course just like many other courses too, but you need to learn the language to atleast B level to expand your chances of getting a job after your education.
Also you might find it hard getting admission in courses you don't have related BSc in.

From my experience so far, I would say the racism in Germany is really not bad.
I have not personally experienced any major racism throughout my 1.6yrs in Germany.
Some people might not want to sit down beside you inside the train or inside the bus but I really don't see it as racism. People usually sit down beside people they are familiar with or people they are closer to.
Also, you might find it a little bit hard getting a shared apartment among white people, from my personal experience, they prefer sharing apartments with fellow white people.

In other cases, you might find it hard getting some job if you don't speak German, it's not racism, it's just that you don't speak the language of communication in that company.

I won't rule out the case of racism, but to the best of my knowledge, it's not really bad in Germany as I heard before coming.
What I will say about Germany is that it's a very hard country
They expect so high from people and they are not easy to please, you need to go hard to achieve things in Germany because anything you do, you must do it well to retain your seat.
It's a country that takes no shit, if you mess up, you will face the consequences, no mercy, no forgiveness, they give you the punishment according to your offense.
So when you misbehave, don't beg, if you do, you are most likely wasting your time. Just wait for the punishment associated with your misbehavior.

Honestly, I have not actually bleeped any German lady or even any white lady but I heard they are weird.
I was really curious to have a taste but the opportunity didn't come despite the fact that I am tall and cute still dem no send me.
And in Germany, you can't just see a girl and start talking with her just as we used to do in Nigeria.
They maintain a distance from strangers especially if the person is a black man. So it makes sex hard especially if you are really the busy type like me.
As I type now, I am going to night job.

I have a friend from Edo state who has stayed here for over 12 years and is already a German citizen, he said he has slept with many white girls from different countries.
He told me to register an account on Lovoo and Tinder which I did but I have been swapping since and getting only few responses and those few responses would stop responding after few weeks.
I told the guy that I was too busy for that shit because I hardly have time for myself let alone wasting my time on tinder swapping and getting no response. It was so discouraging.

He brought two more alternatives
1. Going to the party with him where he would introduce me to most of his friend's friends. He said they do crazy things when drunk.
2. Paying Excorts or rather prostitutes for sex.

I was contemplating the first option before Germany started the lockdown on December and since then we have been on lockdown and no party.
So I gave up and started chasing money instead.
Now, I am even surprised how far I have gone with maximum concentration as a result of the lockdown.

Hey Man.

It’s 2021, Nigeria finally became that El-dorado you passionately argued it would be 2 years ago on this thread. I hope they got you a villa right next to Buhari’s in Abuja?

Beautiful country Nigeria is now, I tell you. In spite of the whole noise we see on TV my two big companies still give me monthly returns of $10M.

Tell you what?! I’m that average Nigerian you fought for. Remember the one you said was earning 150k a month back in 2019? Yup, that’s me.

Thank you for upholding the dreams of our forefathers. How’s your end?

Yes, from my little experience, German girls are usually hard to get. They prefer dating fellow white guys. The evidence can be seen from the couple moving around. It's not easy to see Black/ girl couple kissing and holding hands as whites do.
Before coming to Germany, I heard that white girls use to rush black guys like hot cake because they view them as being good in bed, I even loaded packets of Condoms in my travel bag hoping to buy more when I arrive, my brother those condoms are still remaining in my bag as of now.
On coming to Germany, I found out a totally different thing from what I heard, this is my personal experience, I don't know if Corona virus contributed to it.
Even Tinder, badoo, Lovoo wey I download, shishi I no get.
Most Nigerian girls on the other hand are targeting white men for papers.
So is usually not easy unless you visit a brothel and
I heard that if you are the extrovert type who clubs, you will run into many girls in the club especially if you are a good dancer.
I nogo lie you, I don't really have any tangible love life here.
All I do is work, study, sleep, eat, work.
The cycle continues.
Though I am able to save alot of money but I don't have a life or even have much friends like my mates in the UK and USA.
From next year, I will reduce work and hopefully graduate by the special grace of God.

Very good. Have you taken your time to go through the module catalog?
Does it look like what you can Crack?
Because the word computational might involve programming and mathematics during the course of your training.
Are you really good at Maths and programming?

One thing is getting into a program, another thing is finishing the program, so it's highly advisable to go into the courses you can do because their educational system is really high and demanding.

Ofcus I do.
I plan to get a professional job after my studies and gain international experience in a particular field and possibly citizenship.
Even if I should leave Germany for other countries, I feel like acquiring professional experience first because wherever you go, professional experience matters alot to secure jobs.
By God's grace, I will only leave Germany when I am sure of job in another country of Migration.
I don't plan to leave and start life afresh in another country but only leave to continue from where I stop in Germany if I must leave, that's why from next year, I am sticking to one job and investing all time in personal development and working towards fluency in German.
The plan is already there, just waiting for God to perfect it
